Surely the club should be looking to buy this & give it him back

First, if they do it for him they'd have to do it for everyone. Second, sometimes players would rather sell their memorabilia than have their children fight over them.
-
He'll still have his Man United one.

He'll still have his Man United one.
The two together would be unique I think - for different clubs.
-
He's selling his winners medal as well.
-
You have to feel for those old players - they played in a time on quagmire's for pitches and against players that did not get yellow cards for assault.
And now in old age have to sell off their career medals as they are on hard times.
Measure that against some of the dog shit we have had on our books on huge salaries - yes im looking at the likes of you Richards and McCormack et al
Sad and tragic
-
That seems stupidly cheap compared to the sort of dross you often see for sale in signed merchandise shops, you know the sort of thing, a brand new replica shirt, framed next to a postcard with somebody like Grealish's signature scribbled on it, and wallop, £500.

I don't think they have to do it for every ex-player, but shirts worn when we actually won a trophy? What would it really cost them to buy all the shirts (if the players still have them?) from the European Cup final? If this one has a guide price of £4-6k it's probably what, £100-150k? That's a week's wages for whichever striker we sign next.
I'm not saying throw money at one of Steve Hodge's 1985 home shirts, but if a player has actually won something for us, and the shirt is available, I don't see why it can't be bought to go up in the club somewhere?

Yeah .... you'd imagine it's of enough historical importance to the club itself that they'd be happy paying the estimate - less than a day's wages for a squad player, even if it were to just so that it could be put in storage in case the club ever decide to put up a museum. I mean, if you're willing to put a star on the shirt to commemorate something, then surely an actual shirt from the final has got to be worth more than that?

Most of our players swapped shirts. I never really understood why. It was a real shame so many in Bayern shirts during the celebrations.

That does annoying me. Contrast it to Barcelona when they finally won it in 1992. They wore their away shirt but changed into the proper one to lift the trophy.

I totally agree with this.

Withe and Spink swapped back again many years later.
-
The club could buy it and display it at Villa Park somewhere.

Years ago I was aquainted with former Villa commercial manager Tony Stephens and he agreed to attend our referee's association monthly meeting as guest speaker.
He brought along a few bits and pieces and one of these was a match-worn shirt from one of the European matches played, I think, the season after the European Cup win, it was Ken McNaught's and was a Le Cocq Sportif brand.
It was to be raffled on the night with the proceeds to go into the branch funds. The first bid was five quid and the chairman then said that'll do and no other bid was entertained. I was prepared to go up to a tenner!

I haven’t even kept the clothes I wore in Rotterdam, why on earth would I want somebody else’s that wouldn’t even fit me?

By contrast this one is currently £79 too much.

Withe and Spink swapped back again many years later.
Yes they did!
I think it was some kind of fashion in the early 80s or they were starstruck.
Contrast with the Villa Coach who made Louis Barry go and get his short back when he swapped with Liverpool on debut.
Villa fans sang "You'll never Walk Alone" in Rotterdam as well after winning which they would never have done a few years later.

I remember us signing You'll never Walk Alone" at Wembley when we beat Manure 3-1 in 1994.

i thought Rimmer already sold his shirt and medal off a few years ago
-
Sad if he needs the money, as compared to some of the lesser talented players in the PL today. The current Yanited GK as an example.
Still it probably does not fit him ay more.

I can only think you've never seen Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Villa Park needs an easily accessible museum to display stuff like this
(the medal and shirt obviously...not the pith helmet ;D )

Correct
It that what this collection refers to ?
