Where is Cash playing being as Konsa is Right-Back?

I thought Tielemans might have started ahead of Zaniolo. But if we don't beat Luton with that team, something has seriously gone wrong with the heating in Hell.

He isn't, Cash is right back and Konsa's right-centre.

The big surprise with that team selection is there is no big surprise. I did think Bailey would have started. Great to see Big Tim on the bench, I really hope Unai gives him a chance especially with suspensions likely in the coming games.

I'm now feeling much more confident about the game and can't wait for it to start. This morning has really dragged on.

Looking at that bench we’d be a bit fucked if Watkins took a knock.

Also, when is Moreno back?  He seems to have been out for a very long time now.

Our goals come from all over so against Luton we should have enough firepower. And Zaniolo and Diaby can play up front. I thought Tielemans would get the nod over Zaniolo though.

That’s true, but that’s with Watkins pulling defenders left right and centre.

Mebbe, but with the minutes everybody's gained lately, our bench looks quite awesome. Not a lot of drop-off in quality at all.

Bailey and Tielemans likely to be disappointed. Did enough on Thursday to push both ahead of Zaniolo in the starting line up. Maybe Emery just giving Zaniolo the start to give him a boost after all the drama during the week but he needs to start delivering on the pitch.

When you look at our bench and then think we're missing Mings, Moreno, Ramsey, Buendia and Duran, you realise we've got a pretty good squad built.

Zaniolo is a better ball-carrier in the deep positions than either of those two, even if it isn't his dream role. Bailey's competing with Diaby for the start and he's not getting that on current form, though it's no longer any fault of his own.

Whereas you can't move in a Chelsea injury for mentions of how their season's been disappointing only because of injuries to Gaston Baston, Cyril Fernandez, Loksha Smith-Schmidt or Angelo Wojcik (average age 19.25).

I usually moan when he rests players against supposed lower opposition ( in cups )

But I would have played Teilemans and Bailey after the last week.
But then again I’m not an elite manager and Unai is.

So I can’t moan about a full strength team.

Let’s batter them.

4-1. Nakamba 93 rd min penalty for them.

In the end we’ll all be happy with a win. All this talk of battering them is nice and hopefully that’s the outcome. But what a week it will have been to get two excellent home wins in the league and a solid win in Europe. Make us proud boys. A good performance, stick to the plan, get the points.

I've got a feeling this will be rather like H to Mostar, a flow of traffic mostly towards one goal with the occasional breakaway by the away team. A narrow, hard fought win, 1-0

If we score fairly early it should be a straight forward one like Everton in the league, if we don't it could well be more like Palace/Mostar.

Isn't the general understanding that the move to Turkey was to get him out of Roma, and it was only ever a stopgap, Galatasary knew this too, so it has actually worked out extremely well for all involved.

Want another before ht. Even at 1 down they're not going to suddenly open up and start playing, they'll still be looking for a long ball on the counter or a set piece

Proper FA Cup third round feel to this. They are not here to attack whatsoever.

Glad we've got the one, as I don't think if they're willing to leave this many men behind the ball, there will be loads of goals. See it out lads.

Especially having to break through 10 outfield players for most of our attacks. Even for the freekick, McGinn had to get passed 4 players, two taken out by his bum wiggle alone.

It's not very exciting to watch, and other managers get praised for actually trying to play football, but it's games like this that make me think Luton are more likely to stay up than the other promoted sides.

Grim enough stuff really. Think we need to be passing the ball a lot quicker in midfield. Maybe a bit of a hangover after Thurs night and Luton sitting back deep into their own half. I don't think Emery will be shy about making changes. In saying all that, get the second early in second half and these guys are there to be hammered.

Luton are by far the worst team I can remember us playing for a good while.  If this doesn't finish at least 2 or 3 nil there will have been some sort of weird shit going down.

Their defending for our goal was Sunday league-esque and we've had a good few chances and half chances.  The save from Watkins early on was either genius or complete luck!

That said, we haven't been great.  Zaniolo and Diaby both need a goal.

Bailey on for Zaniolo, I think.

Yes, looks like McGinn's gone into the left role and Bailey can cut in. Zaniolo might be miffed at not getting the chance to do that!

First up, it's bad Bailey with a wild throughball effort.

Second up, good Bailey with a sharp backheel in midfield.

Third up, it's middling Bailey getting to the byline but the cross is at the keeper.

They weren't even in the EFL not that long ago - this promotion will allow them to compete at the top end of Championship/get promotion again for the next 5 years.

That's the kind of shite that Sky Six fans trot out and you hate them for it, we are not that. What a stupid comment.

100% agree. Lets not be those people.

I know it's Luton, but I think it's great when sides like them, Bournemouth, Wigan etc are in the top flight.

I don't think any Luton fan would be under any illusion that the promotion was a bonus and this season will be tough. It's fun that they're in the PL.

It was also not that long ago that we were going away to top 6 teams purely with a damage limitation mindset either, so getting high and mighty now we're doing well again is a bit rich.

What does Luis need to do to get a yellow without the risk if getting sent off?
Can he gesture a card at the ref after a Luton foul?

You're right, but this is sloppy and cocky shit and it might be important come the end of the season.  Hopefully, Emi and Unai go mad about this because we are better than than.  Silly from Konsa too. He is definitely much better than than.

Never really at our best but you can't always be. Luton were sitting back to protect a 3-0 which is of course their prerogative, but it didn't half make it tricky for us to make it entertaining. Still, 3-1, solid win, how many points above Newcastle now? Nice stuff.
