There's probably reasons why they don't, but you'd think if they absolutely have to play over Christmas that they'd scedule derby matches for that period, where possible.

As if getting served on the last Friday before Christmas isn't difficult enough already!

Pissed off about Arsenal match going later. I knew it would be changed but I’m in Aus when it’s on and was hoping to watch.

A pity the Arsenal game isn't Sunday. Brutal turnaround from playing Man Citeh on the Weds night.

Just hate this when they play around with the fixtures but that's what happens when money comes first.

Bang goes a good day out on the 23rd.
They can completely and utterly fuck off.  I'd eyes on going to that game with my lad, since Saturday 3pm is pretty much the only decent time for us to get to a game.  He's going to be absolutely gutted.

Yep, me too. Especially with the rest of our family (and in-laws) being Blades fans. Was hoping to take him for an early Xmas present but that fucks it up.

So their game kicks off at 1pm on a non-public holiday, with at least a Sunday service on Public Transport whereas the game at Newton Heath kicks off at 8pm on a public holiday with no public transport at all. I know who should be fuming.

When I read 'fuming' and dingles, I thought it was just some disinfecting thing they had to go through a couple of times a year, but he meant as in angry, didn't he?

Some of the differences in recovery times between the 1st and 3rd festive fixtures

Brighton 287 hours
West Ham 247 hrs
Newcastle 221 hrs
Villa 187 hrs
Wolves 146 hrs
Chelsea 143 hrs

Burnley the following Saturday has stayed at 3pm at least so may be one for you to consider?

At least we don't have the delights of 1pm on Xmas eve as Wolves do. I think everyone has come to accept now TV will do what it wants when it wants but there really is no need for a football match the day before Christmas.

Didn't we play late in Manchester one New Years day in the 90s? Think it was a 0-0 and there was something going on with Savo.

It's decades since all games on Boxing day were 3pms and indeed we've played late on that day regularly in the last few years although mainly at home.

Football on xmas eve shouldn't be happening so even by Sky standards that's a poor choice from them.

Wolves & Chelsea think they're hard done by getting a 1pm KO on Christmas Eve.  Our fixture at Man U on Boxing Night is ten times worse, it's utterly ridiculous

At least most people tend to have Boxing Day off and games are normally played that day. They are both ridiculous though.

Christmas Eve is the traditional day for blokes to do a panicked dash round town to get their wives a present. That's quite a few women getting nothing for Christmas this year!

Wolves could bring out a perfume called 'Old Gold' and make a fortune. Calling it an 'eau de toilette' might confuse the locals though.

Nov 2nd-24th Dec according to a quick Google.

They announced yesterday it’s one drink per person this year. They won’t be serving “ rounds “.
Makes it easy to not go.

The Man Utd fixture was always a good chance of happening, because United never play southern teams or Man City, Liverpool or Everton on Boxing Day.

They did this last year.  I couldn't get my wife a drink despite her being 20 yards away and me pointing her out to the staff and waving.

I just don't understand why they scrapped the notion of playing local(ish) derbies on Boxing Day and New Year's. Something like Forest away and Wolves at home would have done

Rumour has it that just one stall is enforcing this rule and Birmingham Live are just shit stirring. I had no issue last year and have been there every year since it started and never witnessed a problem with under age drinking.

In fact just like Villa Park at half time ...

I'd put 'market' too. It's the same down here. Stallholders pay exorbitant rent then charge exorbitant prices for food, beverages, and. 'Christmas' goods and traditional craftwork imported mainly from China by the container-load.

Fuck.that!

Bit of advice please

You know the game away against MU on Boxing Day

Because it’s a late KO and it’s on Boxing Day do you think that it will go down to bottom tier ST holders
or is the Boxing Day fixture a high take up game no matter what

I think this is an old thread, already covered by "Games Moved For TV". Maybe could be merged and title amended to include games moved not necessarily on television.
