I know MoTD messed it up but how many times have we scored 6 at home in the league?
I can remember:
6-1 vs Sunderland 2013
6-2 vs Everton 1989
Anymore?? Without having to trawl 11vs11
-
Does it have to be specifically 6 or can we have seven too?
-
I was thinking more 6 (we beat liverpool (obviously) and wimbledon in 96ish 7-1. But we were chatting in the pub post match and couldn’t think of many 6s.
-
6-1 Ipswich 1978
7 v Wimbledon and Liverpool,
-
6 vs Ipswich league cup
6 vs Birmingham ... Simod or League Cup?
-
6-0 away at Derby on 2008 when Petrov scored from Villa Park.
-
Notts County away FA Cup 1982. Dave Geddis hat-trick. Great day out. Then lost1 0 in the league there the following week
-
A couple of classics:
6-4 v Blackburn in League Cup semi 2010
6-2 v Everton 1989
-
Another favourite. 6 0 away at Oldham Div 3 1971. I seem to remember a Bruce Rioch free kick.

Yes..very strange, especially in the days when resting players wasn't really a thing; John Chiedozie I think.
Thought of another one although not in the league...8-1 v Exeter in the league cup in the 80s
-
We stuck 8 past Exeter but it was a cup game so doesn't answer the OP. It was at home at least.
-
Sorry. Just realised it had to be home in the league. It's years since I last posted. I'd better give up again!
-
It's all good, it was just a gentle leg pull. Always good to remember big Villa wins, regardless of competition or venue.
-
I got a bit nostalgic. Remembering the gents toilets at Meadow Lane...
-
8-3 at Wycombe 2005. Was the anniversary earlier in the week, the official site posted the goals.

The birth of Mr Fickle.
-
Think Lockhead scored three up at Oldham. Possibly the coldest ground in England.
-
There'll be a fair few from back in the day, but in my life, 1970 onwards, at home in the league i'm struggling to think of any besides Brighton, Sunderland, Everton and Ipswich.
-
Villa 6 Blues 2 1960.
-
6-0 v Port Vale in the FA Cup 4th round January 1990.
-
I know it's not 6 and a couple of years before I first went, but my dad's favourite was 11-1 against Charlton in 1959 when Gerry Hitchens scored 5. My dad idolised Gerry.
-
We were stumped chatting about it yesterday. Scoring 6 isnt that uncommon, so the fact we’ve only done it 5 or 6 times, in the league, in the last 60 years, makes yesterday more special.
-
There's the 7-1 v Wimbledon in February 1995 as well.
-

Yeah, October or November 1971. I went on one of the old special trains that British Rail used to put on - £1 return. Got soaked as it pissed down all afternoon when it had been sunny and blue skies when we left New Street.
Was 6-0 - Lochhead 3, Rioch 2 and Anderson.
-
And the 6-1 at Crewe in August 2019 as well as 6-0 at Barrow in August 2021 both in the League Cup.
-
We beat Hull 6-0 at home in one of Ron Saunders first home games, a Wednesday night in the school holidays 1974.
-
We beat Peterborough in the League Cup 6-0 in 1995, Mark Draper scored a great free kick.

Jimmy Cumbes debut if memory serves, the weather was awful and so were Oldham

First league win under Mr Saunders, in front of a crowd of less than 19,000.

I was 14, went with my older brother who wouldn't have long passed his driving test. He must have driven back like a lunatic as we were back in brum about 6.15 to get the Argus.

Didn't we put 6 past Sunderland under Lambert?
-
6-1 Ipswich 1978
7 v Wimbledon and Liverpool,
I remember that Ipswich game. It was the week before they beat Arsenal in the FA Cup final and they didn't seem too bothered by the match
-
Didn't we put 6 past Sunderland under Lambert?
Yes. I remember Mica Ron scored one of them and the look of absolute surprise on Agbonlahor's face when he did it.
-
Didn't we put 6 past Sunderland under Lambert?
I was up there for that. Gabby scored a couple I think.

That was the away under Sherwood.

Ah Concrete Ron, who we now know was actually made of the RAAC stuff.

Ah, I remember the Lambert game now. Didn't Benteke round off his hatrick with a free kick?

No that was QPR at home. His Sunderland hat trick was a headed rebound from an Agbonlahor shot, a header from one of those Westwood floaty corners (he seemed to be above the goal when he headed it) and a through the goalies legs from an acute angle to round it off.
-
6-1 in 2013 Vlaar scored too.

That's really well remembered! I remember the rebound header from Agbonlahor's shot.

This!
Didn't Andy Lochhead get a few too?
A great away day!
-
Sorry, just caught up with the other comments on the Oldham game!
Didn't the old football specials go from Moor Street?
O r perhaps only some of them...I have recollections of having to run from one station to the other when they would change departure times and stations with little notice.
-
6-4 against Blackburn in the League Cup Semi-Final, 2nd Leg.
-
Think we are up to just 6 times, scoring 6, since 1960. Surprised it’s so few.
-
Andy Lochhead got a hat-trick at Oldham.
-
We beat Hartlepool 6-1 in Nov 1974 on the way to winning the League Cup. Ray Grayson scored a hat-trick.
-
Have to disagree, Nick.
I recall it as a brace each for Graydon, Brian Little and 'Chico' Hamilton.
