That win makes it 10 wins in a row at VP.
Teams should fear coming to B6.

Did we do 13 under SGT in 89?
-
Don't think I was born then.
-

My memory may be off but I'm sure we went thirteen unbeaten away under SGT. Or was that in 88 in the second tier.

I think we won 13 away overall in the championship the 87-88 promotion year.

I get 11 in a row in 89/90. Not sure if that is overall record.
-
That's all competitions. 9 in a row in league (which is what we're on now)
-
I can change Smirker to Jonah if you like?
-
9 league consecutive home wins in 1989/90, and 13 across 1982/83 and 83/84 ending with losing 6-2 to Arsenal.
-
I posted this thread over a month ago and we're still unbeaten in the league.
11 wins in a row.
Unreal.

Have to say Unai's embraced Villa Park from day one.
Those little early decisions like changing ends and attacking the Holte first half against Man. United, Leeds etc and getting early goals were a masterstroke.
Palace win early this season also huge for the mentality as in other seasons at best we'd have scrambled a 1-1.
Too easy for managers to just moan Villa Park is a hard place to play for the home team. If some of our ex players say it in interviews they do after leaving us you can bet the managers at the time were saying it at the time behind closed doors and that creates negativity on the pitch.
So refreshing having a manager who embraces home games and showed he could think outside the box a little to get us on the front foot quicker in games rather than just bowing to tradition.
-
Brilliant thread ! 6 remaining home matches in 2023.
Luton, Fulham, Man City, Arsenal, Sheff Utd, Burnley

If that. I think we would have lost 1-0 in those kind of games. Even before yesterday's game I thought West Ham might set themselves up to be really difficult to break down and then try and score on the counter. They did that well at Brighton.
Of those 6 fixtures, we should win the first and last two. The middle two will be good tests and we'll have to see how we get on.
-
And long may it continue.
-
17 goals scored and 3 conceded in 4 home games this season against West Ham, Brighton, Crystal Palace and Everton.
-
Feels a bit like 76-77 when we dropped very few points at home and handed out several tonkings
-
I predict this season Emery's Villa will match or break our top flight and Premier League record for biggest win 7-1
I can totally see us scoring 7+ goals in a match
Biggest Wins at Villa Park
1959 v Charlton Athletic 11-1! Second Division
1995 Wimbledon 7-1 Premier League
1952 Chelsea FC 7-1 First Division (top flight)
We'll be in 7th Heaven!
Up the Villa!
-
My birthday is in late Feb and was just after the Arsenal game. Therefore, we have won every home league game while i've been 42 and I'm 43 in a few months.
-
A few months being a third of the year but fingers crossed we remain unbeaten.

Wouldn't that make it 8th or 9th heaven?

If we've not lost a home game whilst you're 42, I think that probably means you've got to promise never to have a birthday again.
-
Win today at Villa Park and equals record since 1983 where we won 13 consecutive league games.
This season at the fortress: 6 shots a game at home. And 6.8 shots on target per game at Villa Park. 3+ goals a game.
20 goals Scored. 4 conceded!
Vamos Villa!

Last time we won 13 at home in a row was 1983 (year I was born).
We haven't won 14 home games in a row since 1933 and have never won 15 home games in a row.
-
A pity it's Man Sheikhy and then the Arse next.

Or it'll make it even sweeter when we break the record, send them both packing with their tails between their legs and top the table.
-
Havn't seen Unai post match interview for the Fulham game but in every other game he mentions the villa fans in his very first sentence and the 'connection' with the players.
Worth an extra player in every match. For those who can go, pat yourselves on the back. Certainly helps Villa Park become a fortress. Much appreciated from afar.

Not sure about which Ci£y will turn up as they are getting into thier groove again seemingly - i actually fancy us to do Arsenal as we will have a lot of memories from last season and i dont think they are any better than they were
-
If only our home games counted, we'd still be ninth in the league and would have scored more goals than anyone in the league from West Ham down.

Just as it is becoming that fortress, one end of the ground is going to be gone for two years and the atmosphere will be strange as a result.
Wish we'd had a crystal ball and done it as soon as we went down into the Championship. Would have been a massive call to increase capacity after a relegation and doubt the money would have been there then, but with hindsight, those first two years would have been an ideal time to do it. It would have been ready for the promotion surge the following season and the return to the top flight.

Fortress Villa Park? I will wait till about 8pm on December 9 to convince myself of that.
-
Aston Villa have won the last 14 PL games at Villa Park, scoring 35 goals and conceding 7 in a run stretching back to February.
-
15 Home Wins.
And Still....
Unbeaten!

Sorry for the late response. Yes it is fortress Villa Park😊
-
Haven't lost at Villa Park on the weekend this season.

You're intent on jinxing us, aren't you? :(
-
Cant believe how villa parks gone from being a place that teams use to fear to having chelsea and manure winning there in a week.
Waht the hells going on?
-
So far have won all our European home games this season. Another win last night! Means 100% record.
That's first class by Emery and the squad!
Up The Villa!
-
When scoring first at home this season in any game we haven't lost this season.
-
24/25 at Villa Park
Haven't lost in Premier League since first home match of the season
That's one defeat in 15 home games unbeaten in 14 league matches at home .
It's been 7 wins and 7 draws
That's joint 2nd with Arsenal 28pts
Only Liverpool have won more points
Whatever else this season in the League we are difficult to beat at home and no team enjoys coming to Villa Park.
-
Too many draws this season but ultimately it's still just one defeat in eighteen prem and CL games so not too bad at all.
I think the Spurs 0-4 was around this time last season so take end of last season into account and we've only lost once at VP in the prem in the last 12 months.
Shame we've lost all knowledge of what to do on the road to get results in the prem but through the decades mediocre home form has always been an issue for us so at least that consistency has keep us clinging on to the top 6/7.
-
I think the Emery factor has contributed to the opposition fine tuning their performances coming to the fortress and opponents basically won't get anything more than a draw.
Even that Arsenal match if look back Watkins should have buried that chance and would have been ahead.
-
Our first draw at home was the ghastly 0-0 vs. Man Utd., and then the next 2 Villa Park games we drew against Bournemouth and Palace.
That's 6 extra points dropped. If you want to discount Man Utd, well, we drew with Brighton at home after Xmas as well.
This year there were expected wins vs. West Ham and Ipswich that didn't materialise; that's also another 4 points.
Really we should be 10 points better off just by winning those matches at Villa Park. Even with our less away form that would see us on 52 points and 3rd place instead of 10th
-
Including all League , Cups and Europe matches we have only lost twice since March last year and not since October this season.
That’s a great record.
