I have no idea what dirt Bailey has on Emery, but I am disappointed to see his name again.

Oh well, he owes us a performance today.

Need our midfield to step up for this.

As for seeing Bailey again, you're right Chris. He owes us a performance.

At the risk of sounding like Flin, it does look a bit saft having 2 different badges on the graphic.

They have the coverage from the 4:30 games ground every Sunday. I know we like to think the media have some sort of agenda against us but the explanation is that simple.

He hasn't got a work permit so even if he is fit he couldn't have played today.

I'm glad the transfer window is still open because we still need two or three players.  Will be really glad to get Ramsey and Moreno and Zaniolo in the squad too. I'm nervous about today.

This has to be done sort of redemption opportunity for Bailey. This game needs us to control play and that for me is Tielemans all day long supporting the front players. Anyway…hoping he has one of his better games

Bert and Jhon on the bench

Good to have them back involved.

Not happy with that team selection..that back 4 won't win a tackle or header between them and selecting Bailey and Diaby once again leaves us light in midfield. Everton team, very limited as they are, look set for a physical battle and we seem anything but.

Oh of course, we don't get to face the sad excuse for a striker that is Neal Maupay, oh no.

Calvert "broken arms and legs against every other team" Lewin is magically fit to play against us.

From the Beeb's live reporting.
"Villa Park is one of my favourite grounds for atmosphere and their first home game of the season sees the players walk out to huge noise."
"This is a tremendous ground and the atmosphere is bouncing for the first home game of the season. Unai Emery, who has done a remarkable job since replacing Steven Gerrard, is being serenaded by the home faithful."

Must be part of that anti-Villa agenda the media have. ;)

English football: Once again trying to fix a problem that doesn't exist.

No set of fans I spoke to last season felt they were being consistently done out of injury time.

9 minutes is funny farm stuff.

We might even benefit from this today.  But ultimately it's been brought in to benefit the squads with the biggest squads and deepest pockets, same as the five subs rule.

Not in the slightest, DCL was down 3 times for treatment before he went off and Pickford was booked for time wasting at the penalty, even without any changes I reckon you'd have been looking at 8-9 minutes today.

The simple solution for players who dislike the amount of time added on is to not waste time. Its good that they are finally clamping down on it, and if they have to go slightly overboard initially to prove the point then so be it.

They're exactly like we were under Lambert a decade ago.

Run around a bit but no belief they can score whatsoever and just have a look of lower league team playing in prem nowadays that can just about scrape 16th or 17th.

They probably do need relegation to reset like ourselves and a few others have done.

Get the third and we can take them both off. Thought we were poor to start with until McGinn's goal. But we should be even further in front. Archer, Tielemans, Cout, Bert....loads of options to put on when Everton take a few of their endless CMs off and try to get forward and leave more space.

Diaby's going to be a gamechanger for us, we've lacked a forward for so long who can play effectively in the space between midfield and defence.

If that is long term for Coutinho, or even medium term, it basically cancels out 3 of our 4 signings, numbers wise. We'll have to recall Sinisalo so we can have 3 keepers on the bench next week.

Where are they getting these extra minutes from?

Iwobi was down for a few minutes early on in the half. Also adding time for the goal celebrations.

I hope this excessive time calms down in about a month, 9 minutes for a 4-0 win is ridiculous overkill.

When did we last win 5-0 in a prem home game?

Will be 6-7 minutes stoppage time at least.

Wimbledon? Christmas 1996

Sometimes watch that match on the Villaboy YT channel. We had three legitimate goals ruled out for incorrect offside calls aswell.

Wimbledon were on a 15 match unbeaten run at the time aswell.

We beat Derby 6-0 and Blues 5-1 back to back under MoN but I can't think of a 5-0.

Yeah, that was deffo Hull, I had my Hull supporting brother in law sat next to me in the Trinity, undercover, and his face when that happened shall remain one of my funniest football moments for a long time yet.

Although I note he wears his socks ridiculously long and above his knees, in the style of a teenage girl.

That'l do very nicely. Great performance and although Everton were shite, you can only beat what's put in front of you.

Special well done to McGinn, Bailey and Luiz who were all outstanding I thought.

And we wiped out the goal difference from last week. Lovely jubbly!
