Respectfully, neither for me. It's a nice, safe badge. But Villa should be iconic and unique.

I don’t think this is about the way the lion faces, I think it’s about a round badge being dated.
I hope they go for a stand alone lion.

Yeah, I don't give a shit which way it faces.
-
Voted right facing (as it's already on the shirt) but any of the four round options i.e. left/right facing, with/without the star would be fine by me.
-
Left (classic) facing stand-alone lion is my vote. Big no to a round badge.
-
Genuinely don't care which way it's facing, just get rid of the Lerner AVFC nonsense.
-
I do like the new one but I do agree a stand alone version would have been great, also not bothered which way the lion faces either.

First one. If the 1884 was removed and replaced with Prepared it'd be pretty much perfect for me.
Or, the 1956 one as it was.
Or, a standalone lion.
I am fine with any of these.
Those are in order though.
-
First one but happy with anything that isn't the Lerner badge.
Also, surprised to hear all the talk about 'should have been a stand alone lion and Aston Villa'. I distinctly remember one of the positive points about the one approved last November was that it was part of a suite that included the option of being used as a stand-alone lion and it looked brilliant in that form?

This one is my favourite version of that badge.
I've no particularly strong views on the matter, but I think it looks far neater with no star, and the badge feels more balanced - to me - with the lion facing left.
I personally like the 1874 at the bottom. If they wanted to put a star on the badge, I'd put it there though in place of the date. Though personally I don't think we need a star on the badge at all, since it'll mean updating the badge every season when Emery really gets in to the swing of things.

Exactly this
-
I voted facing left classic.
-
First one, 1874 could be moved to 3 and 9 o'clock with Prepared added at the bottom. Really don't like the font, it's too weak. Needs to be more bold, embroidered, not some nameless computer font.
The right facing lion looks so wrong, like something Randy would do on Photoshop. I'm delighted Heck has called a stop to this school project.

Then it really would look exactly like all the others posted above.

Exactly!

For the lads who are in favour of just the lion, I made this on FIFA a couple of years ignore. Ignore the little prick modelling it.

I used the lion from the current Lerner badge but you get the point. I think gold or light blue in the home shirt and claret on the away.
Then obviously use the badge for media and whatever else.
I like the 1956 badge a lot. I'd take that too. Tbh there's about 5 I'm fine with.

Good work Smirker!
A bit on the big side but to me that looks simple, bold and instantly recognisable...with AV or AVFC underneath, as in late 60s/early 70s?
I love the 1956 one too, probably for the same reasons as above but also because it's what we wore when I first started going to games.
-
I like that alot Smirker . jsut needs AVFC underneath and I like its claret on the shorts
-
Thanks guys. Yes I think claret and a gold lion instantly looks like Villa. Others may disagree. But just my opinion.
You could alternate between gold and blue. Plenty of options.
-
Flip the lion and you might be on to something 😉
-
why are people voting, it's not up for change, is it?

Just to gauge the mood on here I think.

It would look silly upside down though.

Break dancing lion? Err... yes please!
-
The lion facing right is Ok until you put it on the left side of the shirt… then from a compositional point of view it looks wrong to me (as a photographer) because it’s facing outward rather than in to the centre of the body. It was fine with Johnnie Walker turning right as the label is central.
-
Already had a vote, the fans spoke but the club are now looking to pull rank so what's the point of another vote.

Job done. Now you just have to create a poll for supporters about whether they like this version or the one with the lion the wrong way round. I reckon 77% will prefer this one…
Not a bad guess given 59.2+9.9 = 69.1% for left-facing lion (with/without star). 71 votes thus far.

Only former winners of the European Cup are entitled to place a star in their badge, denoting how many times they have won said trophy. Why on earth would we not wish to show our greatest moment for all to see,

When did Huddersfield win it three times?

Above (like Forrest) maybe but not 'in' the badge because then if we ever did it again then we would have to redesign it. It's daft to put it 'in' the badge in my opinion. Although we do love a redesign...

I like Smirker's design as well. Maybe could follow what Warwickshire CCC do. They just have the bear on their shirts and some of the merchandise and then have the bear and Warwickshire County Cricket Club underneath it on branding around Edgbaston etc.

Them winning the league three times in a row in the 1920's just came as a bit of a surprise when I googled it...and they were runners-up the following two seasons too - amazing.

Result also a bit skewed given the ‘heck knows’ option, if we are comparing it to the actual poll! I know it’s a small sample size, and this is all just a hypothetical, intellectual exercise in a random corner of the interweb. Still, it gives credence to the theory that Purslow manipulated the choice architecture to get the outcome he wanted.
