https://www.avfc.co.uk/news/2023/may/15/vote-for-your-2022-23-goal-of-the-season-/
I'll set up a poll when the voting link on Pravda works for me unless some kind soul could list the options on here.
-
Poll being added.
-
All up and running.
-
Went for Baileys as one end of pitch to the other with a great finish but Phils is a very close second.
-
Bert’s goal was not only technically magnificent, but given our path back to where we are today, just so critical.
-
Not a vintage year for stonkers really, was it?
-
It'll be McGinn's volley against Brighton which secures a European place.
-
I like team goals (the obvious exception being Dalian’s GOAT v Wimbledon). So my two faves are Bailey and Coots, in that order. I can’t get enough of Ash’s pass to Bouba.
-
Coming on the back of those tentative stumbling steps over Christmas and into the start of the New Year, the back 6, Stevenage, wolves, Bailey's was the one for me that made it sink in that we could be a very, very good side.
I'm surprised Luiz's free kick is in there, I thought our first goal was better.
Best finish has to be Bert's, the flash bastard.

Coots for me as well out of the options.

Coots for me as well out of the options.
Team goals for me all day over single strikes as well. Coots for me also.
-
I can't remember most of them other than this weekend's freekick, Traore's against Leicester, and the goals in Unai's first game.
Will have to have a watch.
-
Gone for Bert vrs Leicester.
I’m surprised they omitted Dougie’s goal vrs Spurs away. That would have been my vote.
-
Traore
-
McGinn v Chelsea.
-
I went for Coutinho's goal as it was in our relatively early days of playing out from the back. A few fans were critical of us not having the players that were able to do this very successfully and I imagine that's the perfect Uni Emery goal.
-
Coutinho’s goal was the essence of our football team goals so that’s where my vote went though Bert’s at Leicester was the best individual goal.
-
All of them. Loved all three v ManUtd.
We've scored some great goals this season, individual, team, free-kicks and even corners! We need an overhead and a hat-trick in the last two games please.
-
Ramsey v Manure. A great move and a brilliant side footed half volley with power into the top corner. I loved that goal.
-
I had to re-watch them as well and they're all good but Bert's swings it for me. Totally unexpected and one I couldn't tire of watching.
-

Will have to have a watch.
Have you got baby-brain ?

Whatever that means, yes :D
In all seriousness, I lost interest in football at the end of Smith's reign, and hated Gerrard so never even watched a full match of his tenure. Social media is just toxic and we have so many wanker YouTube/media type fans, so I've just kept a distance
Emery has slowly restored my interest.
-
I went for Coutinho's goal against Arsenal.
Liquid football.
-
Digne's free-kick against Yanited. Well taken, they're rarer than people think, and it put us well on the way to breaking that hoodoo. Plus Emi's reaction.
-
Coutinho vs Arsenal was pure football!
That was a special goal against the best team in the league (at
that point) gets my vote every time. Super.
-
I went for Bert's, the redemption arc and lateness of winner swung it
-
Coutinho’s was fantastic but my favourite has to be Bailey’s goal against Leeds.
-
The award is won. Traore, Bert Traore
Coutinho was the best goal I thought Villa scored this season, but it was upon reflection Bert Traore the one I enjoyed the best and perhaps of all goals the majority would have Bertie as the most pleasing goal
I needed to factor that into account when I voted as I was wrong.
LeeB, TorontoVilla, Clampy, Nigel, Last Footstamper, and everyone else who voted Bertrand Traore's goal as the greatest of the season had a brilliant viewpoint on how to assess a goal of the season. Great Work and pleased to see such foresight amoung us.
My prediction for next season is that one of the new signings will score the goal of the season and that there will be many high-quality goals based on football, as well as some spectacular individual strikes.

Talk about patronising Footy. Everyone has their own opinion about their favourite goal and there are no right or wrong opinions. To suggest otherwise is just being........ Sorry, I'll leave it there.
-
Christ. Where to begin.
-
My only comment is to ask how looking back at goals that have already been scored and picking your favourite involves foresight.

Let's hope! ;D
I didn't vote for the Traore goal myself. As although it is a thing of pure beauty and sent me into a state of priapic enthusiasm on the day, I think 9 time of out 10 that's over the bar or wide and we're all groaning at him for it. Same as McGinn's.

It's an opinion, not foresight.

It's an opinion, not foresight.
Try telling that to every religion on the planet.

Heavens above!!
I was congratulating them! And acknowledgment like I do with my very self when I pick something out. Personally I'm always impressed when people spot things.
Why pick on me like that! I was happy for people!

-
I’m sure they be so pleased with your worthy praise.
-
It's an opinion, not foresight.
and it is all about opinions...my fav goal was Super John McGinn vs Chelsea as I was in a pub full of the Tory blue wearing mofo's....
I also taught young Ava who works behind the bar the SJM song :) and she regularly asks how Super John McGinn and "the Villa" got on

They (plural) each picked out the goal that was given the award.
This was indeed an ability looking forwards to what was to be awarded.
Indeed one can argue that this Awards is founded on opinion, and with that comes the honour. People that share the same viewpoint for getting the goal scorer correct should be honoured as well. That's how I see.
And it comes down to demonstrating foresight to be able to have that abilities to know what goal was the best.
And that's what's so impressive to me.

It's an opinion, not foresight.
So awards aren't favoured by you then?
And while some can disagree about awards, Martinez was elected the finest keeper in the world. Isn't that opinion as well? Nonetheless, he has the World Cup golden glove and Fifa Best Keeper in the world title. Anyone who predicted this earlier has foresight. That's how I interpret it.
-
FV, with the best will in the world, it might be best to drop this one!
-
Acting purely on foresight, my goal of the season will be the screamer scored by wee McGinn against Brighton on Sunday. Close the poll.
-

Yes let's move on we can all see the winners and losers in this. Only trying to explain those who deem it uppity for others who showed foresight in getting goal of the season.
I don't get all the jealousy I didn't get it right either but at least I can applaud those that did.
Thanks Monty. You're someone who is able to have a reasonable discussion without trying to ridicule or dismiss. Nothing more for me on this, then.
Let us remember how great that goal was and the feeling it gave us and those who have the ability to see his goal were able to feel it was the best Well done again to them and, of course, Bert!
Up The Villa.

How on earth do you arrive at that?

Out of interest, Footy - do you see this thread vote as people predicting who they think will win the official award? Or do you see it as people voting which one they prefer themselves?

This is not what I was saying FV, I'm glad you find me reasonable but you mustn't put words in my mouth like that, it's not on. I was just saying that maybe it might be for the best if you didn't, how shall we put it, lean in to the antagonism with people on seriously trivial matters!

I find it hard to differentiate that as separate entities and see them both as one connected. It's OK I'm not going to talk about it anymore.

I'm getting flustered and confused as now again as it not coming across how I saying as I didn't realise I was putting words in your mouth.
I also seem to misunderstanding and misunderstood things being written or at least interpretation is clearly different.
I will give some peace to my mind and to others
Apologies for whatever I did incorrect.
Please can we move on topic now
Sorry to the forum for all the extra.

That's OK FV, we all get a bit worked up on here sometimes!
-
Yup, no need to apologise!
-
I thought it was charming and harmless, a bit gauche and naive if being harsh. But overall, a positive force.
-
if you didn't vote for my choice you are wrong, so there.
-
I've just found and read this thread.
