They’ve already won as many trophies as Kevin Keenan’s all-conquering side!
-
Marvellously caustic.

I think Half Past Toon would work?

How about 5 past Toon.
-
Their average attendance in 1990/91 - 16,879. Big club my arse.

I was talking to a north-east reporter once who outright didn't believe I'd been in a crowd of 18,000 there.

Just gone noon half past the toon on the banks of the river Nile…

Not defending them, but here is the point. NUFC are currently owned by NotMikeAshley. After years of not being owned by NotMikeAshley and the misery that clearly caused, the fans are beyond delighted to be owned, at any level will do, by NotMikeAshley

Was that written by the famous Admin of TBAR? ;)

Newcastle lowest attendances
1978 7,986
1979 7,134
1980 13,765
1981 11,013
1982 9,419
And shit loads of other sub 20K crowds before 93/94.

Nice piece, Dave. Love the first line of the second paragraph in particular. Made me 'lol', as the kids don't say.

As a rule of thumb:-
People from Newcastle/Newcastle supporters - cocky, sarcastic, superior, no sense of humour or perspective
People from Sunderland/Sunderland supporters - nice, friendly, self-deprecating, fun
-
Great read Dave.
