Title: Leicester City vs Aston Villa pre match stuff
Post by: Smirker on April 02, 2023, 04:01:24 PM
Tuesday, evening kick off, can't be bothered to check the time. Probably 8pm.

COME ON!

This lot are going to have a new manager bounce aren't they?

We really need to FTF.

Let's hope that part of Emery's meticulous planning is that it kicks off at 7.45.

Them 2 Us 3. They are 2 up and cruising, we smack in 3 late goals. End of season they are relegated while we qualify for Europe.

Sacking Rodgers could play havoc with Unai's match preparations, as I suspect he will have planned meticulously for both the Chelsea and Leicester games during the international break.  However, it wouldn't surprise me if he hasn't factored in what will happen if they did sack the manager.

Had Rodgers been unpopular with the players I would fear a bounce but I don't think that's the case here although his departure could galvanise everyone at the club.
That makes it a trickier fixture than it might have been but we are in great form across the team so confidence remains high.

0-1

There is no chance that Unai Emery is getting out-thought by whichever youth team coach gets their gig for the week. Our players should expect a battle with a team fighting for their lives, as they should have been anyway if Rodgers had remained in place.

3-0 us. Watkins, Ramsey and Mings.

I've gone for a draw because that's what I did for the Chelsea game. A win would be massive with Forest and Newcastle coming up at home.

Ramsey to score. Buendia to score

1.2

But for 4 errors that we appears we to have cut out of our game, we would have beaten this lost at VP. Our away form is superb, or form is very consistent. They are a bit of a mess. I just expect a professional performance and a 2-0 win. Ollie and Buendia.

Small part of me is thinking they still have good players and they might come out all guns blazing after Rodgers getting the heave ho.
Another part of me, the part I’m deciding to go with, thinks no, none of that negativity, Unai’s army 3 them 0.

Watkins in the first half, Ramsey early in the second, McGinn with a late one to wrap it up. We march on.

There will be no new manager bounce because Leicester had not as such been underperforming under Rodgers. After a few years overachieving, they are a club returning to their correct level. We will help them on their way Tuesday night.
They are only the third biggest club in the East Midlands. Derby and Forest both have a much richer and interesting history. Like many they moved to a purpose built characterless Lego stadium but there could be no sorrow at the loss of their old ground. Filbert Street was an unwelcoming unsafe shit hole, worst being that fenced in corner away section. Their fans have a bitter entitled attitude which was amply demonstrated when Sir Brian left them to return home to manage us.
Goodbye and good riddance, if we never have to play them again after Tuesday it will be too soon.
I hope we do them about 5-0 and put a dirty great big nail in their relegation coffin.
Bit of a rant I know but at least i didnt go on about Pat McMahon this time.

I am still glad they won the league and I wish them no harm but they seem to really dislike us. I don't know why.

I don't take it personally though. I think of it like a Yorkshire Terrier biting at your ankles. You wouldn't hit it back would you? That's how I see it.

They could have 'No Old Manager Bounce' which makes it tricky, however, I have faith in us again. We owe them, big time.

We need at least a three goal margin of victory too, I'm not happy with having a negative goal difference.

We had a stinker against these at home, so would be good to get some pay back.

Yep, we handed them four goals on a plate. I think we definitely shouldn't be starting Kamara, whether it's the injury or whatever, but he was miles off it yesterday.

Going from SG to any other manager was an upgrade. Say what you will about BR, the man is a proper manager. I can't imagine anyone coming in on the interim to fill his boots on a short week will do better.

3-1 to the Villa.

They have some outstanding individual players (Maddison / Barnes) both of who i would snap their hands off for if  / when they go. But they are down there for a reason and that reason is they score too few but concede loads.

Score first (I know we had the lead twice at VP) and i cannot see anything but a win - which is a rare occasion.

I just think we will be aching to put right the terrible mistakes we made against these at VP

Anyone else complaining on letting Ings go?

0-4 Watkins x2 McGinn and Emi B, that last second goal for Palace against them would have put them on a massive downer.

One thing you get the feeling that Emery will not let creep in is complacency. He'll have them focused on the game plan too much for that to happen. I think it will be a tough one to start with but if we can get the first goal, we should be fine. 1-2. Luiz and Watkins with a pen. Muzzy Izzett for them.

They have some good players, but i have a feeling this might play out a bit like Bournemouth at home. We go 1-0 up, they threaten here and there and then we get a couple of late sucker punches, so with you on the 3-0 to us Bren.

I've never been more confident of an away win as I am today. Let's grind these fcukers into the mud.  0-2

If we can win tonight, despite people seemingly determined to put a H&V Hex on things, then Emery really is a great manager.

I think we've improved a bit since then.

Very true and hopefully both teams continue their current trend, but Rodgers leaving I think makes this tougher than it would have been.

Rodgers has been booted as a result of the last six games. They put 4 past us, then did the same a week later to spurs. But in the six games since they've scored just 3 for a return of 1 point. He's not my cup of tea, I wouldn't covet him as our manager, but [cliche mode]six games doesn't make him a bad manager[/cliche mode], and I won't believe that they'll be better without him tonight.

Riding our current wave - I’d love to hammer them to improve our goal difference which may count in the run in.

The better players may not turn up so they move on in the summer whether they stay up or go down.

Looking at the training images on official site it is clear that our boys are really enjoying every minute.

Clearly evident that Kamara was not in the pictures and i think Coutinhio has completely disappeared

Kamara is available if selected.

Let's not forget we gifted them all 4 goals and it wasn't until the 95th minute they actually created a chance in the game we didn't gift them.

You never give any credit to the opposition! Proper fan ;)

We will win, and to quote Shalamar, you can take that to the bank.

I was more confident vs Chelsea....on paper it's an easier match and we are bloody great at the mo, but getting too confident in Villa can bite you in the rear.

I'd rather Rodgers was still there but even so I can't seem them turning their form around to the extent needed for them to get anything.  0-2.

He’d clearly run his race with them. I may be wrong, but I suspect they’ll play like a weight has been lifted off them.

I'm expecting them to perform like we did during Black's reign of ignominy.

It birthed Sue Townsend, for that alone, I'm grateful.

*Just googled her to confirm that, and it just happens to be the 9th anniversary of her passing today.

You can do a Sue Townsend based walking tour.

Good value too at £13.75.
Very good!

I know what you mean. So typical Villa though I'm hoping we're now past that phase and Emery is as good as we believe/hope him to be. A tougher test than it appears on paper.
