Title: Memberships
Post by: Pat Mustard on July 20, 2022, 09:47:35 AM
Is anyone else having problems renewing memberships this year?  Trying to do two currently, haven't been able to for a few weeks now.  I thought they may be set to auto-renew (as usual nothing is especially clear via the website), but they have now expired and try as I might I can't get them to renew.  All of the details are there and I get to the end of the process, but then just get an error message and kicked out.

I've tried contacting the club about it and they originally intimated this isn't something anyone else has reported, but I don't see how it can be a one-off problem as I've tried doing it now on various devices and at different times.

Mine auto-renewed with no apparent issue.

Mine auto renewed on 15 July but was not reactivated until more than three days later, meaning I effectively ceased to be a member during that period of time, and so was not sent the link to buy Bruce Springsteen concert tickets.

The membership renewal invitation email still has a picture of Dean Smith on it

What is the point of "Claret Light"? Is it a low-cal wine?

Big up to the club for once more making simple things tougher.

Email - your membership will not auto renew, you need to enter new payment details (as they now process them directly).

You can do that by clicking HERE.

Only you can't, because that takes you to a page where you update your name and address, but not your payment details.

Also - cost of membership £50. Which become £52.95 when you check out, with no explanation of the no doubt utterly spurious surcharge added on.

Honestly, this shit should be simple.

Postage for the welcome pack. What's in the welcome pack this year? Has anyone got one?

I've not had the welcome pack. It's only been 7 weeks though since I renewed.

Lucky escape there.

I noticed a few days ago my membership hasn’t auto renewed and it won’t let me renew either.  Also didn’t get my goodies last year and neither did my wife or son.

Thanks for reminding me to get it sorted!

I had a look at renewing the other half's and the kid's membership earlier. Fifty quid for adult, thirty for the junior, and bang £2.95 on top of each.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't that expensive last season.

Fuck these membership scams - it should be season ticket holder or not - that's all it needs to be, in my simple world.

Just tried that. Sadly it didn't work. But thank you anyway.

I phoned them because I hadn't received one from months ago and I was told there were "Production issues" - the malaise affecting the club is spread far and wide.

These so called "Memberships" are a spreading disease affecting many spectator sports and just another way of squeezing us till the pips squeak. You're supposedly given priority access to tickets but what happens when loads of people are members?? - what's that line from the incredibles movie?? - "When everyone's special then nobody is".....

My other thought on these memberships; Aren't they a bit pointless to the fan if they've already got a booking history at Villa Park?

Or am I missing something?

You get access to tickets earlier, which is pretty important. Well, when we are doing well, anyway!

Gotcha. Of course, now you mention it tickets do go on sale to members before general sale.

Thanks.

I live abroad. So when I do come back I try to watch the Villa with my son, it was great for us to get tickets.

But therein lies the problem, when everyone has paid £50+ for a membership - which the club would very much like you to do - then no-one has priority any more and you're back to square one, fifty quid+ worse off and having the piss taken out of you. It's just another con.

Only way me and 6 year old can guarantee seats for games we can go to and sit together.

You can always get singles even for sold out games not 2 together
