Does anyone have any info. about buying Walsall tickets? On the OS it is showing sale starting at 17:00 today for 2022/23 season ticket holders. Usually when you look at your digital a/c by now there are details but mine shows 'no events'.

			-
				https://www.avfc.co.uk/news/2022/june/01/walsall-ticket-details/
The link goes to that page so can only assume it'll be live by 5pm

			-
Does anyone know if it's a condition of sale that we have to listen to their chairman?

			-
Info now up on the ticketing site.

			-
Plenty going still. Just got four for £35.

			-
				Sold out

			-

Sold out
Not surprising really, people will bit your hand off for a chance to see the Walsall Galacticos.

			-

Sold out
Just over 15 mins to sell nearly 4000 tickets for a friendly at Walsall? We are massive.

			-
It isn't sold out, make sure you're logged in.

			-
It's very nearly sold out, now. Two left. Usually lots of Villa fans sit in their end without any trouble if you're desperate to go.

			-
Is this the pre match thread?
Be interesting to see what line up is put out.
Reckon Olsen might start in goal for a half.
Don't know if the England Euro winners under 19 trimuvarte will be there but think mixture of two teams will be used over the two 45mins

			-
				Villa 4-0.
Ings x2
Archer x2
Can we make this the pre-match thread?
Saturday's game begins at 1 p.m.

			-
This is definitely a thread that is taking place pre-match, whose subject is that match.

			-
I consider its discussion and views in advance to a match and treat it as a before hand timeline since that is what it is outside of the use of the words.

Out of interest, Footy, where roughly are you from?

			-
				Footyville, USA?

			-
One player I hope to see tomorrow is Finn Azaz.
He's had a couple of great seasons in League Two and turns 22 in September, so he's one of the oldest of the youngsters.

Need to know basis.
I say this due to changes and past experiences.
No offence like.

I'll add 17 year old Kerr Smith, a really promising Scottish fullback, should get some playing time tomorrow.

			-
				Centre back.

None taken :)

Kerr Smith's playing for the U23's tonight against Chasetown so unlikely to be involved tomorrow.

			-
				So is Louie Barry.

I wondered why he offered to send me a Vladimir Putin calendar.

Is Azaz defensive or attacking midfield?
Centre Midfielder I think, more attacking than Marvellous

			-
Can't work the formation out. Is Bailey playing behind Archer with El Ghazi and Traore wide?

			-
I was thinking Bert in the hole behind Cammy maybe? Suppose the 3 wingers could be interchangeable

Thanks Our Kid.

			-
So I subscribe to villa tv begrudgingly at £1.99 per month , and know they want a further £4.99 to watch Walsall  ??
hmmmm tad harsh
Fred , where are you when I need you ?

			-

Is Azaz defensive or attacking midfield?
pretty attacking from what I understand, looks like we're going 4141.

			-
				Sounds fun.

			-
				0-1 Bailey

			-
				fantastic finish from Bailey.

			-
Who's left back? Pretty sure thats not Chrisene.

			-
Walsall not exactly holding back are they? Some meaty challenges going in

			-

Who's left back? Pretty sure thats not Chrisene.
Think they said Seb Revan

			-

Who's left back? Pretty sure thats not Chrisene.
Looks like it's Bogarde, I think.

			-
Awesome. First game in my Villa TV subscription isn’t working.

			-

Who's left back? Pretty sure thats not Chrisene.
Looks like it's Bogarde, I think.
Ignore me, it's seb revan, got a look at his face eventually.

			-
				nor mine

			-
Quite like the look of Azaz.  First time I’ve seen him and he looks very calm

			-
				Bert looking lively as well

			-

Nice one, thanks.

			-
Azaz and Kesler look in their element which is a great sign. Front 4 are doing ok but AEG is very wasteful.

			-
Was that Critchley giving out instructions?

			-

Quite like the look of Azaz.  First time I’ve seen him and he looks very calm
He won League 2 Young Player of the Year last year. Doesn't score tap ins either!

			-
Villa TV working now. All Walsall. Gerrard out

			-
				0-2 Archer

			-
				2-0 Cam lovely goal

			-
What a fabulous run and finish

			-
				He scores when he wants.

			-
I always think the sign of a great finisher is that little dink over the keeper.

			-
				clever from Archer

			-
Neither ings or Watkins would have finished that

			-
As soon as he got onto that loose ball you just knew he’d score

			-

Neither ings or Watkins would have finished that
Of course they could have. They might not have had the same pace to out run the defender but both can finish. Danny Ings finished one like that against Burnley. Watkins vs Brighton

			-

Neither ings or Watkins would have finished that
?

			-

Neither ings or Watkins would have finished that
Rubbish. Different pressure and standard of opposition.

			-
				Nice one, Cam!

			-
I hope we get highlights later.

			-
Azaz is a very tidy player.

			-
Yep, there’s no doubt his finishing is top drawer. As for whether Ings or Watkins would have scored it, I’ve absolutely no idea how you can determine either way and seem so sure about it. I know they’re better players than insinuated though.
Bailey looks good but fragile.

			-
				Beautiful goal by Ollie

			-
				lovely goal, 0-3 Watkins

			-
Watkins would never have scored that.

			-

Watkins would never have scored that.
Agreed.

			-
Chrisene does look like he’s beefed up a bit

			-
I’m thanking my lucky stars that it’s not Jack Woodward commentating on this game.

			-
So that's 21 players so far used in this game plus:
Martinez/Olsen
Cash
Konza
Digne
McGinn
Kamara
Tim
Chuck
Phil
P-Bidace
Ramsey brothers
Big squad alert!

			-

Watkins would never have scored that.
Agreed.
What about Ings though?

			-
				Give it a few minutes.

Hause and Steer as well.
This is the benefit of having so many talented kids, means we have a huge amounbt of depth.

			-
				0-4, oh dear keeper

			-
Goal- Dougie Luiz direct from a corner

			-
				Sanson has looked sharp.

			-
				0-5, Oh dear keeper.
Nope, Dissalowed.

			-
Beautiful ball through to Ollie from Emi B.

			-
We've played some really good football this half, midfield is in total control.

			-
Ings wouldn’t have got that either

			-

Beautiful ball through to Ollie from Emi B.
Buendia is a class above

			-
Thought we might have seen Guilbert getting some minutes.
Some of the youngsters have looked good. Chrisene, O’Reilly, KKH, Azazz. Archer is ready for the first team.
Sanson playing tidy too.

			-

No sign of Davis?
Probably injured…..

			-
Worth the fiver just for the fourth goal.

			-
WE'RE GONNA WIN THE FUCKING LEAGUE

			-
The watkins goal was really good football, Bailey and Archer both finished theirs really well.

			-

Luiz almost looks like he doesn’t want to be there
Was the giveaway the enormous grin on his face when he scored?

			-
Fair bit of excitement on Twitter when someone posted a photo of Tammy Abraham watching the game ... until someone else pointed out his younger brother played for Walsall.  :D

I'd assume they'll be on villatv at some point but probably not untill tomorrow.

Did anyone else notice when he scored he pulled back his arm as if he is shooting an arrow

			-
He's been doing that for a while whilst he's been out on loan.

Thanks for these. Great finish by Archer, but thought Watkins' goal was the best teamwise.

I hope he never stops doing it because it means he’s just bagged another.

Thoughts on the game, which wasn't the best experience as I was wedged between a couple of grinning bell ends who seemed to be more than adequately refreshed, and a family who would be dead certs in the kind of eating competition railed against in another thread, who spent the first half inhaling sausage rolls and throwing crumbs around.
First half totally dominant but we seemed to be a little to reliant on moments of extreme skill to create much, new defender looked more than competent, very calm but too early to form much of an impression as he wasn’t turned or got behind at all, when he was defending 1-1 he looked like we'd just p\aid 30m for him. Good start. Tyrone was decent, made a couple of mistakes and looked rusty. The two young full backs didnt really catch the eye.
Aziz was neat and tidy but maybe lacked ambition at times to make forward passes, Traore was a joy, a couple of moments of outrageous skill. Bailey very direct and I think he'll be a player for us this year. Cam starved of anything to go at really as we didn't seem to play with a. 10, great finish for his goal mind and worked tirelessly.
2nd half, even more dominant, Chrisene looked the pick of the youngster and he looks the size to start games, technique was a bit off but looks like he'll come through. O’Reily looked sharp although needs to fill out, Ings and Ollie looked like a partnership, some great interlinking play.
The midfield in the second looked far superior to the first, Doug was always in the right position for the shape of the team and didn't give the ball away at all, Sanson was MOM, drive, technical ability and always made the right choice, Emi buzzed around and created stuff.
Tougher tests ahead but a great start.

Why are not ‘trialists’ extended the courtesy of having their names read out or a shirt number?
Seemed strange that the Walsall fan, who had tragically died, had all his mates celebrate his life, and good on them for doing so, and then immediately after they all went and didn't watch any more of the game afterward?

				What number did Carlos wear?

It was quite enjoyable. Archer and Watkins took their goals well. Good to see the boys playing again at a different ground, it's been a while . That queue for the rattler was a bit mossive though.

			-

Luiz almost looks like he doesn’t want to be there
No, he wanted to be across the road at IKEA looking for a rocking chair.

Nowhere near as worse as home games though. Then again there was only 9k there I suppose.

Just been watching that first goal again and I love the touch from Kessler Hayden that let’s him accelerate past his man to put the cross in.
Does anyone else think El Ghazi has put a bit of extra weight on?

I didn't really understand the need to play AEG (apart from preparing him for a transfer elsewhere): surely we've moved on from where he's at?

I thought he was really poor yesterday and although only a friendly, can’t have done himself any favours.
Enjoyable game otherwise.

Stadium announcer Trialist being replaced by a Trialist (during the latter stages of the game).

Yes I’m sure there is a reason, I’m just not clear what it is.

Yes I’m sure there is a reason, I’m just not clear what it is.
The only thing I can think of is, if it's published, it would alert other teams.  By keeping it anonymous, it protects the interested club a bit.  I may be reaching here but I can't think of another reason.

			-
I thought it had something to do with them not being registered to play for the club, so they can’t go into the official records or something.

			-
				Sounds much more likely (facepalm).

			-
Good to hear we gave all the profits from the game to Walsall.

			-
				What was the gate?

What was the gate?
The big red thing in the corner.

			-
I think it was around 9.5k.

			-
Can we start the Leeds fixture or Pre match thread say Wednesday or Thursday?
And this coming season I campaign for earlier fixture thread pre match for all the debate and discussion on team selections, news and that.
Anyway up the Villa.

			-
You are more than welcome to start it yourself a few days before matchday.
