It's getting to that time of the season when concept kits are being made on various social media outlets some people think we will have Castore next season personally I would love Adidas myself what are people's thoughts.
-
I still love the Luke Kit, shame they couldnt compete
-
I heard somewhere (probably here) adidas would be too difficult in a 'conflict of interest' kind of way, with Nas's involvement.
-
I think it's Castore. I'd also love an addidas kit.
-
I thought it was confirmed earlier in the year that it's Castore. If so, not expecting a lot having seen their efforts for other clubs.
Hopefully we'll get an Adidas Villa kit before I snuff it.

Claret shirt, Sky blue sleeves, Sky blue socks. Please.

And Gers.Thought their top looked very wishy washy against Celtic. There again,a Wolves supporting family member says the training gear was top class.

People always say this then others moan that our kits are boring.
It hasn't always been like this and some of the variations have been great kits - the Luke kit, the Muller 93-95 kit (Yorke, Taylor, Saunders, McGrath cup winning shirt), the striiped Merson kit 99-2000 kit, the Graham Taylor 87-89 kit and the very early historic variations. A personal favourite is the 57 FA cup shirt, although I realise it was a change kit I still think a homage of this would be a brilliant home kit. There's some epic kits there and replicas of these still sell well. Whereas can people really diferentiate between the template Rover, CDWS, 32 Red, Acorns (great as the concept was), Genting, dafabet and quickbooks kits from 2002 to 2018?
Ultimately I want our main kit template to be claret body with blue sleeves, but variety is the spice of life and we'd have missed some epic kits if there was never any flexibility to work around that theme.

I loved the Luke style.
Claret shirts with Blue trim with Blue shorts.
Probably because my first kit was the ‘69 version.

Traditional is claret shirt, with blue sleeves. The fact that it took a while to establish the tradition and that we have occasionally messed about with it since doesn't alter that. Any variation from the theme now would be an abomination.
The Luke shirts were fucking dreadful.

I think you'll be in a minority with that take.

The shocker for me is we've had almost as many kits in the last 30 years and we'd had in the previous 120 years. Sign of the times, I guess.
And boring will do for me too.

There's at least two of us, and this is not a democracy.

It's not as if we're voting on it's return. But it was certainly a very popuar kit.

Leaked photo of McGinn wearing the 'lounging-midfielder' version of our new kit...

We ambled around the Newcastle club shop before our away game up there, knowing that the Castore rumours looked true. The thing that really struck home was that their entire range just looked really cheap and nasty. Not just the shirts, but everything. The leisurewear was horrendous.

Like our club shop then.

Luke did a very clever marketing job on that kit. There were some supporters who would have died in a ditch defending it.
-
I wouldn’t mind a season with claret shorts for the home kit, like the 83-84 masterpiece. And I’d love something like the away kit from that year too.
-
I'm going to go against the grain and say that I fancy a non-traditional kit this coming season. I don't mind the odd one as a bit of a palette cleanser, and think it'd be the ideal time to have one as ...
2023/24 and 2024/25, the 150th anniversary, should be a celebration of Aston Villa however. Home kit as replicas of the double winning season (23/24) and 1980/81 season (24/25), aways as replicas of the 1957 away (23/24) and European cup winning away (24/25). Third kits taken from our back catalogue of early home shirts, but for my money the black one with a red lion & the one that looks like a Friesian cow but red & white.

Personally I wouldn't have stood in a ditch, but I thought it was a nice kit.

The black one with the red lion is brilliant....and my son and I already have one!
Which is nice!

I think on some of the less important threads, such as those discussing politics or the imminent nuclear apocalypse set to destroy us all, a bit of debate is to be welcomed.
However, for something as important as next season's desired costume, we really need to root out the evildoers and purify the thread. I would urge our esteemed moderators to look at the lists which I have helpfully compiled, below.
I'm not suggesting that the posters in the degenerates list should all be banned. That said, I'm not suggesting that they shouldn't be banned, either.

Now, I don't want to have to add to the list of debauchees above. So please can posters tread carefully before expressing any form of approval for yoghurt adverts, the Hodge monstrosity or the Hearts nonsense we wore a few years ago in the Second Division.
Hopefully this will create a more pleasant forum experience for the decent folk among us.

Some horrible ones mocked up on social media newspaper sites today. A claret and blue quarters shirt. Ugh.

That's traditional - see the 1892-93, surely we all loved that one?
<no i'm not a monster, of course I don't want a quarters shirt>

You two are hovering dangerously close to the wrong 'uns list.
-
I think for the 150 year anniversary we should go for a replica of the original kit for a year before reverting to Claret Body, Light Blue Sleeves, White shorts and Light Blue socks.
Not sure how accurate this Historical Kits site (http://www.historicalkits.co.uk/Aston_Villa/Aston_Villa.htm) is, but there's some interesting stuff and background.
I had thought the early black shirt with lion rampant slap bang in the middle, white short and black socks would be nice as an away kit, until I read it....
-
I didn't particularly like the Luke kit and, I actually believe we have had far too many novelty kits over the years. One per decade would be about right but we tend to have one every 4-5 seasons on average. I you look at the 1980s we basically didn't play in a traditional villa kit between 1983 and 1989! Going back 35 odd years, as an example of non-traditional kits: 1987-89 (yuck), 1993-95 (stripes), 1999-2000 (stripes), 2001-2002 (awful, NTL, purple body home kit, yuck), a few more subtle non-traditional kits up to 2017 when we had the Luke kit.
I just want us in claret body, blue sleeves, white shots and blue/claret socks. I don't think other clubs dick around with their identity as much as we have over the past 35 years.

I’m really in the sh*t as I mentioned once that I wouldn’t mind a 3-5-2 formation 😂

Christ, I can't help you there...

I'm not too fussed about the home kit, there's not a lot that can be done with a claret shirt and blue sleeves. But, no football shirt should ever have a collar or buttons.
Would prefer claret socks.

Yes, same here as long as the anniversary shirts are done properly. I really liked the Luke shirt despite initial reservations, looked high quality and think it'll be a 'retro' classic in years to come. Hated the 'Muller' shirts and the Hummel ones from the late 80s as well as any yellow shirt / blue short away combo.
Having said all that Castore will probably go 'claret body, blue sleeves' as it's their first year. For me choosing Castore has been NSWE's first major misstep. Think their kits look cheap, quality's not good and their 150th anniversary stuff for Sevco has got a mixed reaction.
If we couldn't have Adidas then I'd like to have seen Puma even if their kits can be a bit hit or miss. They're doing a collaboration with Nemen for Milan so something a bit different like that might be interesting in the future.

Can I get added to the wrong'uns please? I love batshit kit attempts even if I don't think they quite work, I appreciate the attempt. Bring on claret and blue fucking polka-dots.

Done! I'd say I prefer tangerines anyway but there's a worry one of you sickos would take that as a kit colour recommendation.

Tangerines are scum. You're out of line there. Being ginger I can't really get away with wearing orange anyway so someone needs to tell 10 year old me to stop wearing that Dutch shirt, you're giving them ammunition you little fat tw*t! Ahhh good times.

If only that had been your last sartorial disgrace. But no, here we are again with your words desecrating the righteous and sacred shirt/sleeve colour combination. ☹️
