We were great. They were shite.
Get the fuck in.
-
Fuck off Leeds. Battered and could have been many more. Super team display yet again. And what a goal by Chamberinho. Incredible.
Solid defensively by the entire side, we can now focus entirely on a place in the top 8. Wolves are 7 points ahead. We have a game in hand and game against them. Still within reach. But tonight it was a cracking win. Well done the Villa boys
-
Nice.
-
You wrote that before the end of normal time TV. Tsk!
-
Oi! You didn't wait until full time to post that, bloody cheat! You're as bad as Dirty Leeds!
-
He can't stand not starting the threads ;-)
-
I think that’s us safe now 😁
-
You can thank me, i voted for leeds in the pre-match thread.
Lovely stuff. Biggest surprise - chambers, bloody hell what a finish.
-
Oi! You didn't wait until full time to post that, bloody cheat! You're as bad as Dirty Leeds!
Based on the times you got there before me!! Still nice we can write a relaxed post match thread versus worrying our bollocks off.
-
I always love it when Villa win, but seldom have I enjoyed it as much as this. That was wonderful.
-
Outstanding performance against atrocious opposition. Thoroughly enjoyed that.
-
Lovely stuff.
-

Win streak baby. Do you want to change this run of good fortune?
-
Complete performance.
My only 0.1% gripe was that last sub should have been Chuck or Tim.
-
Up the fucking Villa!
-
AAAMMMMAAAAZZZZIIINNNGGGG! 3 clean sheets, 8 goals. Looking really threatening in the final 3rd. Callum Chambers, looking like a quality signing, defensively solid and two touches in the last two games that have looked good enough to be regarded as great for a high quality midfielder! Loving it.
-
That was a sweet victory. The Polish Cafu was my MOTM.
-
Their manager looks like he hasn't got a clue.
-
For me, that's one of the most enjoyable matches we've played since we came back up. Defensively and going forward, in a tricky atmosphere, it was a near-perfect performance from everyone on the pitch.
It really felt like every change and signing we have made since the summer came to fruition during that match. Coutinho, Digne, Gerrard, Ings... even Chambers with an outrageous moment of quality.
And we're just getting started. Give this squad a pre season, a DM, and sign Coutinho permanently, and lets see what happens next season...
-
Another brilliant performance, and second game in a row where seven or eight nil wouldn't have flattered us.
-
That was extremely satisfying.
-
I couldn't watchthe game but fucking happy and even more so vs Leeds. I hope they go down.
Thanks Villa.
Have all a good evening and enjoy the beer.
-
Superb performance.
-
Wow. Nuff said. That Chambers goal was right up there!
-
Very satisfying evening. The period of play in the 2nd half when we scored twice and looked like we could score at will was superb.
Up to 9th now.
-
Special mention to Douglas. Played well tonight.
-
Cracking result!
Well done to all the players involved.
Tyrone Mings' defence keeping a clean sheet is the biggest "f-ck you" to the pathetic leeds support
3 well deserved points.
UTV!
-
Cracking win, and every player was excellent. I hope Leeds go down.
-
3 wins
3 clean sheets
Chambers looking like good business.
-
Well that was enjoyable - and nicely stress free.
-
Well that's a nice surprise to see on the phone after the tedium of a school governors' meeting.
-
Lovely stuff excellent. Also really pleasing to see Sanson and Buendia come on and really energise the team, you need that from your subs.

By the way, we still managed to miss some great chances all game! We could easily have scored 4 or 5 there.
-
They have a new manager but their defending is as shit as ever. Thought we were great though.
Chambers has been a really canny signing for us. What a goal that was!
-
I think that’s us safe now 😁
You might just well be right! ;) We MUST buy Phil this summer!
Intriguing relegation 3-way between Leeds, Everton & Burnley now.
-
Leeds made a game of it for 15 mins at half time where we struggled to get on the ball. But after that it could been any score. Big decision to start Chambers fully justified. Both subs looked very sharp off the bench.
Martinez 7, Cash 8, Chambers 8, Mings 7, Digne 7, Luiz 8, McGinn 7, Ramsey 6, Coutinho 9, Ings 7, Watkins 6. Sanson 7, Buendia 7.
-
Sanson looks like some player.
-
That was superb stuff Villa, what a class goal from Callum.
-
C Crew
-
That's 3 predictions in a row I've got wrong in the Pre-match thread.
Villa were Brutal and how I loved that, Jesse is off to find Bielsa's interpreter.
-
Tremendous, that. Professional all over the park, allied to a constant goal threat. Irresistible. Sunday can't come soon enough for me.
-
50th birthday today, still got nasty bout of pneumonia from Covid a few months ago so a bit pants in terms of health but that was nice so thanks lads! Also, Sanson is so good on the ball he deserves a few games. Anyway off to bed, night all!
-
That was so satisfying. Picked them off, defended well, scored at the right times and best of all, absolutely demoralised their team and supporters.
Great team performance with lovely moments from everyone. Loved some of SJM crunching tackles, superb goal by Chambers (in again for the next game surely) Ings was excellent and got a lovely assist, the Polish Cafu and Coutinho...he is just absolutely a level above a lot of teams in this league. They struggled to press him and any attempt to put him under pressure, he couldn't look less bothered by it, laying off passes and back heels here and there. Having a player of this ability gives all of the team such a boost.
-
Smote them. Smote them all.
They lost the Roses to Fucking Lancs bollocks.
Just Fuck off back down to the league below
-
Absolute buzzing after watching on an awful stream . Now a quick look at a Leeds Forum , snigger

Chambers been watching prime Beckham on YouTube

Brilliant.
I have criticised Luiz a lot lately but that is the second good performance in a row from him. The change in formation has helped him a lot.
Chambers is looking like a great signing. Konsa will have to wait for a chance to get his place back, and all of a sudden we have 4 good central defenders to call on.
Another good cameo from Sanson who must be close to a starting spot now.
We need to throw the kitchen sink at Coutinho, he is fabulous and could easily play another 5 years for us.
No bad performances, brilliant away performance.
Everton are jammy, there is a worse team than them to keep them up!

I’ve also been critical of Luiz. But today he seemed to drop really deep when Cash bombed on. Maybe this shape really suits him. Much improved tonight.

Absolute buzzing after watching on an awful stream . Now a quick look at a Leeds Forum , snigger
I paid 99p for a week's trial of Amazon Prime so I could watch the game. Only took it out about 2hours before kick off. Cancelled it once the game was over - and they are refunding me the 99p. Result!!
-
Does Doug's contract run out this summer or next?
-
I thought Cash was immense again. 2 goals, 2 assists and 3 clean sheets in the last 3.

Sanson looks like some player.
He does. It’d be nice to see him get a run in the team but there’s nobody to make way for him at the moment.
-

Happy Birthday Phil, I know you haven't been well but that must feel great.
-
9 goals (but could of been 14)
9pts
No goals conceded
9th in the league.
We owed them cnuts just we owe wet spam and the dingles
Up thr mighty villa
-
Absolutely marvellous. Chambers! What the fuck! And Coutinho's numbers are just getting silly now.
-
To be ultra critical, Luiz and Mings got two of the most idiotic yellow cards you will ever see in the second half. I'm still in disbelief at Watkins not heading that sitter in late on. 0-3 utterly flattered them tonight.
-
Fucking hell, their manager just said the game went to "zero-two".
This is not going end well.
-
Just a shame that Mings didn't get one to really rub some salt in the peasants wounds. He was desperate to score.
Pray Burnley and Everton go on a bit of a run as Leeds are fucking horrific. Everything about that club just screams "Championship".
-
I think if Sanson comes in it'll be for Ramsey maybe. He's been great this season but the one player not absolutely at his best the last couple of games. The strong squad seems to be geeing lots of players up.
-
Ted Lasso would of been a better choice
So leeds off you fuck a d close the door on your way out. We might take Phillips off you if he cuts his ridiculous hair
-
Fucking hell, their manager just said the game went to "zero-two".
This is not going end well.
A cross between Remi Garde and Ted Lasso.
-
Great team performance, solid at the back, controlled in midfield and exciting on the attack. Cash and McGinn were on fire tonight though.

I think Sanson will start the next day ahead of Ramsey, definitely a tidy footballer there. Solid sub appearances and first man on last two games.
-

Inclined to agree. Which is not to knock Ramsey at all, who's having a phenomenal season - just that this is what competition looks like, quality waiting in the wings for the slightest slip-up. Ings and Watkins will look at Buendia and know how true this is too.
-
"Zero two", Christ wept. The cloth cap and Tetley's brigade will love that. Bring back Sgt Wilko.
-
Complete performance.
My only 0.1% gripe was that last sub should have been Chuck or Tim.
Yeah, I didn't see the point in Young coming on either.
Fantastic win. Again, should have been more than it was but musn't grumble about 9 goals in three games I suppose.
-
"Zero two", Christ wept. The cloth cap and Tetley's brigade will love that. Bring back Sgt Wilko.
our guys struggled to get in the end zone !!
-
Brilliant, every player contributed and we played some bloody good football at times. Coutinho, sign him up because he is one amazing player.
-
Excellent today. Everyone played well. Matty Cash was the MOTM for me. Non stop, good at both ends, end product. Coutinho a very close second. He was sublime again.
Which part of Brazil is Calum Chambers from? Fucking hell. Credit to him, because many assumed he'd come as a fourth choice. He's going to take shifting on current form and the quality he's showing on the ball is particularly impressive.
Another assist for Ings today. He's leading our assist charts.
Biggest thing for me that suggests things are looking good for the end of this season, going into next... a bench with Konsa, Sanson, Ash, Bailey, Beundia, Traore and the kids. Sanson and Emi2 looked good when they came on. Sanson in particular. Douglas and McGinn are bang on form at the right time too and will need to be with Sanson on their heels.
The squad looks in good shape, and we've still got the likes of Archer to come back next season too. There's a lot of quality. It genuinely seems like a together bunch (look conversely at the state of some EPL clubs. There's 4-5 rotten dressing rooms).
We're 2-3 signings away (on top of tying up Coutinho) from pushing top 6 I think.
-
Wow - didn't think this would happen and we made it look so easy.
-

Ash has been solid and deserves his place. 10 minutes isn't enough time to win a game, the young lads need 20 to have time to settle into a game. Gerrard was protecting the clean sheet and we'd all have been annoyed to conceed at the death.
Apologies for my poor maths I've been putting up fences all day and am absolutely wiped out. Lucky I have my favourite pedants to keep me on the straight and narrow =P
-
A great win, I think we are on the verge of something here. Sign Phil and he will be the catalyst for an exciting period in our history.
-
Their manager looks like he hasn't got a clue.
Looks like and sounds like.
-
Ace, absolutely Ace.
-
Their manager looks like he hasn't got a clue.
Looks like and sounds like.
He reminds me of Sherwood.

The last three results just serve to underline what a waste those games against Leeds (home) Watford and Newcastle were. Eight points dropped, with even six more points we would be right in the Europa qualification mix.

Cash took his goal exceptionally well, too.

I could see the point of Young coming on. If Leeds got a bit shirty towards the end then Young is streetwise. He will get involved and be a shit house. He knows how to stir it up. It was a safe sub for me.

The Watford defeat may have been one of those blessing in disguise results. We've looked a lot better, more organised and happier since. Dropping Buendia as well was a brave call but the right one so far.

I'd rather listen to that commentary than what we had, which was disappointment that with all the big build up Leeds rather flatulated to deceive.

We were great. They were shite.

That was my exact thought on the game coming out of the pub an hour ago.
Onto West Ham!

Brilliant stuff.
-
Tonight's performance was well nigh perfect.
The tracking back, covering and pressing was phenomenal. Leeds never got a moment of peace anytime, anywhere. Everytime they got hold of the ball there was at least two Villans closing down, blocking, challenging and hassling the man on the ball
Conversely when we got hold of it, we had players available and our passing/control in tight situations was top class- players moving, finding space and making themselves available to the man on the ball.
One-twos, passing triangles and players seemingly to know where each other was almost by instinct. Pretty obvious that work done at BMH is beginning to sink in.
At times, it was as if Leeds were playing against 15 claret and blue Duracell bunnies.
We just need to get result v Spam at the weekend to keep progressing.
-
And some top quality knee slides tonight, too. Ramsey for Cash's was my pick of the bunch.

Reminded me of 96 at Wembley that. A class above, superb stuff. They were all good but in particular I thought McGinn had a tremendous game.

Apart from the Tatters somehow being seven points ahead of us, obv.
-

Report from the away end:
Those knee slides were still marks in the pitch at the end. Glorious.
-
Second report from the away end:
The round of applause Tyrone Mings gave the Leeds fans at the end was a thing of absolute beauty. Absolutely bloody hilarious.
-
Third report from the away end:
That was the most beautiful away performance that we’ve witnessed in along while. Get the fuck in.

Would like to see video of this if it exists.

Fourth report from the away end. Fan-bloody-tastic! Hugely enjoyable that. Lived in Leeds since 2003, that was extra special.

It was at half-time in that game when I explained to Risso and LeeB that our problems were being caused by the full-backs being too high, negating the strengths of JJ & SJM. I think Purslow overheard, related it to his mate and the rest is history.
-
Second report from the away end:

Lots of them seemed pretty upset that the blatant booing of anti-racism went out of fashion. So they tried to be a bit more subtle about it.

i only saw the last half hour or so, switched on just before the 2nd goal went in.
From what I saw, I agree with your comments. Villa looked pretty good and Leeds looked an absolute mess. When we had the ball we always looked in control and likely to pose a threat. When Leeds were in possession they couldn’t really get anywhere near to cause us real problems.
The stats in the graun were: Villa 14 with 9 on target. Leeds had 1 attempt on target in the whole match.
West Ham will be massive. I think Wolves we can maybe catch, with a game in hand and still have to play them again. Even 6 weeks ago I’d have said no chance we’ll catch them. But ya gotta believe. 😁
-
Was well worth getting up at 3.45am for.
They tried a bit of rough stuff for the first 15mins but the first goal seemed to knock the stuffing out of them.
They were really awful in the first half so was expecting some response in the second half and they had a go for fist 15 mins but the second goal from Cash (excellent ball from Ings) and worldie from CC finished them off.
Wonderful performance from all in claret & blue and saw the game out beautifully.
"We're Aston Villa and we're taking the piss" was very funny from the away end towards the end of the game.
We have some pretty tough games now so will be interesting to see how we perform.
We move heaven and earth to sign PC permanently.
He is a joy to watch.
UTV
-
Did Ted have another post match huddle with his team afterwards?
-
I heard we’ve got an option to sign him permanently for around 34m. Looks a snip at that price, if you consider for instance, we signed Bailey for 26m, I think it was.
-
Just back, man was that ever sweet!
Special shout out to Mings for owning those knuggledragging twats.
-
Who was it that made a goal-saving block in the third minute of the second half for us? Had that gone in, 1-1 with them in the ascendancy, things could have been very different.
I thought we were still too loose with our passing in the first half. I know it's easy to look like Brazil when you're 3-0 up but when you see how Sanson took care of the ball when he came on (I think the only times he lost it was because he was fouled); I don't see either of Luiz, McGinn or Ramsey having that discipline.
Having said that, Meatball and Duggie put a great shift in, off the ball, and McGinn reminded us that he has a decent right peg too. Overall though, CM is the area we need to go up a level to break into the top 8.
Cash has clearly been working on his attacking game and the finish on his weaker side was clever and well-dispatched. Digne really impressed me with his defensive side, he actually showed great positional awareness a few times and he deserves credit for the neat little move from the throw-in that made the space for the opening goal.
Coutinho's magic must be rubbing off the other players in training cos Ings's pass for Cash's goal was of the highest quality. Ollie did some great things, often quite difficult, but then messed-up with the seemingly easier parts. When he skinned their fella on the right wing, I just knew he was going to go for goal instead of making the easy pass to Ings. Goalscorers are greedy but in Watkins' case, he often has that habit of wanting to get his shot away if he has robbed a defender as a "reward" no matter how shit the angle is.
-
Absolute vintage away performance.
So many excellent performances but particular kudos to the Polish Cafu and Mings for channelling the stick he got from that lot into a great performance (loved his Tweet too).
-
That was the strongest subs bench we've had for many a year.
-
Now if ever Norwich could beat Leeds next match....
-
Possibly the best, most complete win of the season unless I’m forgetting one earlier. I felt it was more a team win than last week. Leeds final ball was atrocious, possibly in part to our setup, strangled them. Matched them in the middle for the most part while the game was at a high tempo.
I think West Ham is very doable as tough as it might be. They got done by Soton, are missing Bowen and have lost their last three in all competitions. Having said that it’s a tough assignment, on evidence of Leeds away though, confidently pushing for a fourth is an excellent sign, as was another clean set. A couple of moments at the back but otherwise outstanding to torch that mob. Those fuckers are seriously lippy and now in serious trouble.
I’m looking forward to Arsenal, dead set, fuck the horse that mob of Tarquins rode in on, booed Emi in Smith’s last effort when we were trounced, rubbed our noses, apparently linked to Chuk and marching back into the top four apparently. Again last night gives me real hope a confident team can get something from the next two.
-
We look like a real team, full of running a threat every time we attack and some strong likeable personalities all over the pitch.
-
What a night one of the best away games I've been to for a while the team the fans it was brilliant I didn't get back home until 3am this morning because of roadworks on the motorway but I don't care I loved it.
-
I think like many others who there last night it was just one of those nights you won’t forget in a hurry. We were superb.

*Is this just a Chelmsley Wood thing?
I was in the 3Cs club the other day for the first time in about 30 years, it hadn’t changed much.
The game, I’m not sure if we were brilliant or they were utter dog shit, maybe a bit of both. So many unforced errors from them. And to think I didn’t fancy us much before the game.
-
Our attacking options are now frightening. We could bring in two top wingers in Bailey and Traore on Sunday and play just one striker. It would completely change the dynamic. Not saying we should do that but it just shows the options we now have available. It's a good time to be a Villa fan right now.
-
Great performance
Great support
Leeds are in big trouble 🤣
-
Hmmm. I knew we were playing Leeds Thursday night, and I knew it was on Prime. So, I settled down to watch some Europa League nonsense.
Later that evening I got a text from Daughter No. 2 (the one that's become a Villa fanatic), saying "Isn't it great when Villa do well", to which I replied something bland.
Then I thought "Why did she say that?". Then "Oh shit, it's not Wednesday* today", by which time it was half nine. Fortunately Prime has a watch from beginning option, so I was late to bed!
Two things in particular struck me, apart from the obvious things: 1) Leeds repertoire of songs/chants is tiny 2) Doesn't Ings put a shift in off the ball
*I spent some time on Wednesday thinking it was Friday.

Very pleasing result. Only seen the last half hour so can't judge our play too much. Leeds looked very sorry for themselves of what I did see. They should have stuck with Bielsa as what was on show last night didn't look particularly good at anything.
When was the last time we won 3 in a row without conceding? And, without tempting fate, when was the last time we won 4 in a row without conceding?
-
I think like many others who there last night it was just one of those nights you won’t forget in a hurry. We were superb.
Spot on
-
Our March goal of the month is going to be tough
-
Shout for Konsa too, at half time he was slapping everybody on the back as they came off. I thought it was one of the coaches at first, a fantastic attitude given he'd lost his place.
-
Yorkshire Villains on FB going around singing "the city is ours" has made me chuckle this morning!

Ha ha that's brilliant

Felt really down after the Watford result, but what a response from the last 3 games 9-0, each game getting better. Everyone had a good game, but must give special mention to Phil, Matty and Callum all superb. Callum's goal must be one of the best goals seen from a Villa CB for quite a while, pure quality, he's come to us, knowing at the age of 27, this is probably his last chance to prove he can make it in the Premier League and on present form, he's on the way to achieving that goal.
Apart from the first 10 mins or so of the 2nd half, Leeds never in the game, we were a class act, after the 3rd goal, looking like scoring every time we attacked.
-
Another great performance after Saturday, and the team just look really together - with the talent we now have in the squad in all positions, that is a potent mix. I'm starting to get Big Ron's first season vibes - that year we had a lot of squad upheaval and went through some iffy runs, but by the end you could really see something building and it just needed one or two key additions.
-
Our attacking options are now frightening. We could bring in two top wingers in Bailey and Traore on Sunday and play just one striker. It would completely change the dynamic. Not saying we should do that but it just shows the options we now have available. It's a good time to be a Villa fan right now.
Yeah the bench is starting to look strong. Suppose the one area where we haven't got depth is replacements for Ings and Watkins, but it might be interesting to see Traore or Bailey in those roles.
-
Well done Villa boys. Great result but Leeds were terrible. For Sunday SG will need to make a couple of changes in midfield for freshness. My thought is Buendia and Sanson in for Ramsey and McGinn.
-
4321 is the way forward with the current squad - long term not sure what that means for Emi2, Bailey and Bert.
-

Yep - a good sign. I also liked that in his post-match interview on Prime, Gerrard specifically mentioned Chambers keeping the shirt after his performance against Southampton, believing it was important for the squad to see that if you get in, and perform well, you keep the shirt. No chance of him being dropped for the next game now!
I thought Leeds played into our hands as soon as they put Bamford on. Fewer men in the middle of the park and we became a lot more relaxed on the ball as their press went to shit.
Lots of very good performances, but I think it's worth mentioning again how good Sanson looked when he came on. Considering he's not getting much game time he was very sharp, excellent on the ball and well-disciplined.
We have SUCH a strong bench right now. The team on a three-game winning streak deserves to keep starting (obviously), but we have four or five potential game-changers on the bench now, and I genuinely can't remember the last time that was the case?
-

Do you mean 4312? Emi2, Bailey and Bert all have to wait for their chance and take it when it comes. Clearly we have the ability and now the personnel to change between 4312, 4321, and 433, which means they could all play a part in any given game - but while we're winning, playing well, and scoring goals, they'll simply have to bide their time. Great, isn't it?

Yep! As I said last night, we had over £100m of talent on the bench. Players are going to have earn the shirt.

There's no way I would drop McGinn, he's just come back into form recently.
Ramsey has been a little quiet lately and with the amount of games he's starting for his age and Sanson impressing from the bench, I do think that could be a good change for Sunday.
-
We just won 3-0 away...it seems to be working, why change it?

Agree with Sanson in for Ramsey, he's earned a start and a rest may do JJ good.
Would it be worth starting Buendia instead of Coutinho? It'd be Phil's 2nd game in 3 days and knowing Moyes he'll want to keep things tight from the start. Maybe bring Phil on with 20-30 mins to go depending on how it's going when the game's more open.

Once again a complete team performance where every player deserves credit and we were clinical with our chances. Love it!

LOVED this - they went ape shit when he started clapping them

Well, it would mean a starting place for Emi2 wouldn’t it?
-

Yes but it’s Thursday to Sunday syndrome and players get tired. We also need to utilise the squad to make sure we do not weaken when injury/suspension cover is required.
-

Agreed, also we were at it from the start. A few weeks ago it seemed we needed half an hour to wake up but now there seems to be a renewed confidence where we impose ourselves rather than reacting to circumstances.

I was meaning our chant.
Great to see him shove it down their throats anyway.
-
It was quite funny at the end, as Mings came over, he clapped the Leeds lot to our right who'd spent a fair chunk of the game abusing him. So a few of them charged down to try and get on the pitch. Embarrassing. Much like singing about pretending to beat Bayern Munich in a European Cup final against a side that actually did it.
Totally dominant performance, some neat interplay and a very good win.
Impressed with Sanson and Emi when they came on. Coutinho is unreal, absolutely unreal. 3 good goals, lots of good play, McGinn back to his good self. Excellent stuff.
-
I did think it's a bit of a cheek, their fans singing about any defender being "fucking shit". Struggling to remember a poorer side defensively in the top flight.
-
"Leeds support; fucking twats!"

Isn't it just. Our lot seemed relentless in giving shit to Leeds. So good.

Maybe the Leeds fans could be honest and chant: "Tyrone Mings is fuckin' BLACK!" and just let the world know what bigoted twats they are.
Spoiler alert: No need, we already know.
