Just to let you all know that it was me that caused the traffic chaos in Upper Sutton Street when I was found slumped over the steering wheel of my car following a cardiac arrest. I owe my life to the 3 passing men, Keith Draper, Joe Tilly and Jamie Canning, who took it in turns to perform CPR on me for almost 25 minutes before the ambulance people arrived and took over. Without their assistance, I wouldn’t now be here and able to tell my story. I’m so pleased to be able to now say that I’m making great progress and was able to attend the Leeds match last Wednesday. The only downside, from my incident, has sadly been from the Club. Whilst I was in hospital, my son phoned and emailed various people at AVFC, including messrs. Sawaris, Edens and Purslow to ask if they could acknowledge these 3 men with a memento from the Club but, he either had no replies from some and just no’s from others. A real shame.
Now that I’m able, I shall be contacting my 3 heroes, hopefully, so I can meet up with them and thank them personally.
My thanks also, to all of you on H&V that were enquiring about my health.
Finally, hope our team can get back to winning ways v Watford this coming Saturday.UTV

Wow, Skerra, what a story. Glad to read that you've made such an impressive recovery.
I'd recommend not attending too many games - that would definitely not be good for the heart.
-
Amazing story, glad you're still with us Skerra! UTV!
-
Bloody hell mate, glad you're still here to post that!
-
So glad you are on the mend. Take it easy and get well soon.
-
Good news that you're on the road to recovery and life is getting back to normal for you.
Your 3 "heroes" certainly deserve recognition.
-
Great to hear you are doing well, take it easy
-
So good to read that. All the very best mate.
-
That's a good news story for sure.
-
So glad you’re on the road to recovery and I hope that those three men get the plaudits they deserve.
-
Incredible story Skerra - glad to hear you’re on the mend.
-
blimey. Echo the comments above Skerra. Hope you are very much on the mend or recovered and thank goodness those other blokes were around to help.
-
So pleased to hear that Skerra. I was one of the fans sitting in the car park of the church in Upper Sutton Street waiting for the road to clear for us to leave. Someone came up looking for a defibrillator, told us what was happening and everyone was concerned for you. Seeing the ambulance blue lighting past us was some relief as it showed that you were getting treatment. Take care UTV

Pleased to hear you're on the mend. Did you try to contact Lee Preece at the club?
-
Puts all our whinging about the recent team performances into perspective, all the best mate and delighted to hear you are on the mend.
-
Brilliant stuff, great to here from you and so glad you’ve made a good recovery. Real heroes!
-
Well done to those three life savers - how many folk would stride passed thinking you were drunk? But above all it’s great you’re up and bopping!

If it was Jack Grealish slumped over his steering wheel I'd probably assume he was intoxicated but anybody else and I'd assume heart problems Nick!
-
Terrible to hear you went through such a horrible ordeal, but massive respect to those fellow Villa fans for saving your life.
Fantastic news to hear you are on the mend and get a second chance I guess you could say.
Did you seek any medical advice about attending Villa games?
Not wanting to take the issue too lightly, but I'f they had known you were a Villa fan its enough to give anyone Heart problem.
Glad you are on the mend and hope you have a great meet up.

Thank you all so much for your very kind comments. Much appreciated. I ended up having a pacemaker fitted and 3 stents. I’m hoping to get back to playing tennis and walking football but, obviously, realise I have to build up very slowly.
I think us winning the match on 5th December obviously tipped the scales against me!!
Legion, I’ll ask my son if he tried to contact Lee Preece. I know he tried a lot of people and various departments but to no avail.
Scratchkins, I think that’s the same car park I use. Keith is the gateman there. Who’s your husband at the tennis club, if you don’t mind me asking?
-
So pleased to hear you're on the road to recovey Skerra, long may it continue. As for you're 'three hero's' it restores your faith in human nature, I'm sure you agree hero's hardly does them credit. A reason to smile.
-
What a marvellous story! It's great to see this thread in Heroes Discussion rather than Holte Enders in the Sky. Top marks to the three heroes who saved you too!
-
I can only echo all the posts above. A (forgive the pun) heartwarming story, and I'm delighted you can tell the tale, Skerra.
-
Great news Skerra, here's to your health and happiness. As has been mentioned earlier in the thread, Lee Preece would be the best person to contact if you haven't already. Firstname dot lastname at avfc dot co dot uk.
-
I passed this on to Lee.

I didn't know we were on the same car park. You have chatted to my husband in the Trinity concourse. I don't know if it is in order to put names on here. He sends his best wishes and hopes to see you soon.
-
Wow. Puts yesterday into some perspective !!
Glad your doing well, and a massive well done to those three.
-
Amazing story, Skerra but the most important thing is you're up and well. Take care.
-
Scratchins, if your husband spots me in the concourse, please ask him to speak to me. I’ll be there on Saturday.
-
So pleased you're making.good progress after such a terrible experience.
Those three guys need some sort of recognition for what they did for you.
We all get caught up in the moment of yesterday's disappointment but really this post puts things into perspective.
-
What a relief and what a result, Skerra, I’m so pleased and thankful that you’re still with us!
Kudos to the 3 fellow fans 🌟🌟🌟you named and the professionals involved in treating you; I really hope you have a lot to cheer on Saturday and that there’s as little tension as possible!
Here’s hoping that the club soon recognise the fans’ role in saving your life through their awareness and responsibility for a fellow fan in trouble.
-
Know Keir from my son's football days, lovely man
-
Puts all our whinging about the recent team performances into perspective, all the best mate and delighted to hear you are on the mend.
Agree with all that, amazing story and hope Skerra is around to witness many more Villa victories.
Mind, you still only gave the CPR lads 5/10 in your post-match ratings. :)
-
Do you know how long it took me to get home that n….:-)
Great story. There are still some wonderful people in the world despite everything we hear. Glad you’re here to tell the tale. Stay away from the Villa would be my immediate advice!
-
Trouble is that I’ve been a season ticket holder for years!!
-
Great news on your recovery
May I ask what treatment you had operation, bypass, stents?
I hope the 3 saviours are acknowledged as they bloody deserve it
-
I had a pacemaker fitted and 3 stents.
-
This thread puts moaning about yesterday in perspective certainly. Hopefully Saturday will be a good day for you Skerra.
Perhaps Tommy Jordan might be worth contacting given he's the comms guy at Villa if you want the club to thank the fans who saved your life over the PA?
-
I had a pacemaker fitted and 3 stents.
Wow
I had 2 stents 2 years ago. Scary at the time
Glad to hear you are ok
-
Great news Skerra. I'm sure that if you find the right person at the club there will be a positive response. Those three deserve wider recognition.
I still blame you that we haven't won at home since then. :-)
-
I'm glad you're on the mend Skerra. Well done too, to the three brilliant people who made sure we still have that Villa fan on board.
Here's to all four of you, heroes one and all.
-
Great news Skerra and I hope you keep in good health
-
An amazing story and proof that CPR does work and shouldn’t be stopped until medical assistance arrives. Glad you’re recovering
-
I had a pacemaker fitted and 3 stents.
My old man has the same. Your ticker is basically invincible now!
-
That's wonderful your recovering, and what stars those 3 blokes were
-

That's a lot higher than any Villa player in recent games!
-
Blimey, that's quite a story and what heroes those three guys were. Total respect to them and good to hear you've now recovered.
Take it easy pal.
-
Trouble is that I’ve been a season ticket holder for years!!
They say what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.... So here's to many more...
What a great story, so lively you've shared with us, so pleased you're doing well and yes three bloody Heroes for sure.
-
Great that you survived ,and brilliant that those three guys gave you that life saving help. Maybe the the Villa.could point the defibrillator loco actions at the ground with a quick first aid dem on the big screen.
-
Amazing good news story. All the best!
-
Wow Skerra, that's some story. Glad to hear you have been on the road to recovery and brilliant support from the three guys who helped you.
It's great to hear.
-
What an ordeal, Skerra. Fantastic you are back in the swing of things again. Stay safe!
-
Scratchins, if your husband spots me in the concourse, please ask him to speak to me. I’ll be there on Saturday.
I've sent you a dm - I think. You may have 2 or none!
-
Good thoughts and all the continued best. Stay blessed.
-
I'm so glad you are on the mend and feeling better you take it easy mate.
-
We needed a good news story and this is definitely one. Glad you're on the mend pal and massive respect to the 3 heroes that undoubtedly saved your life.
-
Great news to hear of your recovery - take care!
-
All the best Skerra, glad you're on the mend.
-
Brilliant news, Skerra.
Try not to get too excited when we score all those goals at the w/end...
-
Great story. All the best mate. Try not to push any further than walking football or you’ll end up in our midfield.
-
Glad to here your doing well - take care
-
Great to hear you are on the mend Skerra!
I've lived with a heart condition for about 20 years...I'm not sure if us following The Villa is helpful or not!
Take care mate!
UTV!
-
Great to hear this.
-
This has put a smile on my face. Glad you're still with us Skerra.
-
I'm conflicted about this. On one hand it's good to know you're doing well Skerra. On the other, the resultant hold up in traffic meant I was late home and my tea was cold and I'm holding you responsible.
-
Herman, I don’t blame you, I must have been a right pain in the arse holding everybody up!!
Let’s all hope for a win tomorrow. I’ll be there and hope to be much more considerate after the match. UTV
