Title: Brentford vs Aston Villa pre match thread - Jan 2nd 2022
Post by: Toronto Villa on December 29, 2021, 08:21:01 PM
A game we should win. Brentford have been in poor form so we need to get three points. But no idea who is available but hopefully all are along with the manager.

I’ll go 3-1 and a happy start to 2022. Watkins, Buendia and Konsa.

Normally would never bet on Villa to beat Brentford - we just don't do it; however with their injuries I actually think we have the chance of a lifetime.  1-0 Villa.

Brentford are a tricky proposition and we witnessed that at Villa Park, they can play half decent football but couple it with top class shithousing.

It's been a funny festive period really, and anything could happen between now and kick off but as things stand I see a draw, and us being rather happy with that.

1-1

Folk predicting a draw...don't you see? We don't do draws anymore! Only one all season. It's either do or die. Which is why we've lost as many games as Newcastle.

We owe them one from earlier where they really did push the boundaries a bit with the help of a sympathetic referee. Also some of their lot were really giving it Billy-big-bollox on their websites about us and how easy they thought the Premiership was going to be "Haven't seen anything to worry about" type shit.

All the festive games have been tarnished by team selection being a lottery unless your are Oil city or Chelski.

We do not have a decent record against these in the modern era as it was either because Smith was the Manager or he was ours

A scrappy but hard fought win - i hope Mings does not let Toney bully him like he fell apart with Lukaku

Well that shouldn't happen as Mings is suspended. So it will be Konsa and Hause who will have to keep their heads.

I always felt they were more organised than us. Despite us having more quality in every position on every occasion we've ever met, they just worked harder and had a better structure.

With McGinn back, Ramsey looking like (well I won't tempted fate but you know who I'm thinking of) and Sanson in contention, there's no slacking here.

I think we'll match their aggression, tempo and effort and our quality will tell.

We have a huge opportunity to cement ourselves as top half before January spending commences.

Just received an email from the club linking you to the Brentford declaration page about your COVID/Vaccine status.

It does let you fill it in on behalf of others too. The club state its mandatory.

Do you have to complete separate forms for each of your group? If so can you open the form again after submitting it? I can't see an option for multiple entries.

Brentford seem to play very well against the Sky 6 but dip off against those around them. If we're decent strength, we beat them.

Think this will be a draw.

They haven't won much recently but they give everyone a tough game down there....Chelsea and Man. City only scraped 1-0 wins and they've beaten Everton and Watford in last month.

Not sure Hause will cope too well v them as Toney and their other forwards have decent movement. That said they do have a long throw but I think we'll see Axel come in for Mings.

2-2.

The Tuanzebe v Hause decision will be an interesting one. My preference would be to pick the natural LCB in his preferred position and leave Konsa RCB. McGinn will come back in for Sanson. Wonder if Traore might be given a chance in the front three, they were desperate v Chelsea. Ings will drop out again.

I'll revise my predicted team to;

Martinez

Cash
Konsa
Hause
Targett

Dougie
Sanson
McGinn

Ramsey
Buendia

Watkins

Key is to swamp their back 3 and midfield 3 when out of possession to ensure their full backs don't get into it.

Yeah I'd keep Sanson in aswell. These sorts of teams always play with energy so need as much mobility as possible from middle trio.

Frustrating looking at the table. Felt after Norwich we had a real chance to really kick on but instead our two winnable games over xmas got called off and we played and lost the hardest one.

Would take a point.

Mr Shin is going for a Villa win which, if it happens, will see him pull well clear in our ongoing predictions contest.
