Ex Aston Villa defender and ruling AKP party deputy Alpay Ozlan having a fist fight (on Wednesday, I think) whilst debating the Turkish budget.

Good to see he has a mask on though!
There's some more about it here, think perhaps some of the insults traded have lost something in translation:

From now on, whenever I get into a lively debate with someone on here, I'm going to respond with "I return it exactly" ;D

The best thread title ever.

The best thread title ever.
Was just about to say the same

This thread, for its title alone, enters legendary status.

Nothing beats African Car Reverser.
-
Definitely looked like more mask wearing than in HOC.
-
Nice to see he joined a right-wing populist party after hanging up his boots.
-
crazy bastard
-
Well this lays to rest once and for all the myth that Alpay was some sort of demented nutter.

Sure, but it's rare even to have a challenger.
Anyway, had no idea that's where Alpay ended up. Always was a mad selfish bastard.
-
Its brilliant but it would be a new entry at number two as African car reverser has to be the best.
But FFWYMBEITTL is fantastic.
-
We should start a yearly NOW list of thread titles.
Alpay is a little unhinged.
-
Love the title lol.
-
What is great about the title of this thread is that I clicked on it having literally zero idea what on earth it would be about.

It's doublefold - not knowing what on earth is going on, then clicking on it and discovering it makes perfect sense. Such good work.
-
This also reminds me of seeing Alpay Ozalan in a clothes store in the Bull Ring just after the infamous Holte End keep quiet incident.
When he saw the Villa shirt I was wearing he literally dived behind a clothes rail!
In hindsight I regret no popping over to discuss his future political aspirations.
-
Superb thread title, and an admirable attempt at making the song scan.
It does work (just) with the offical title of the place as well though:
Fight fight where ever you may be, even in the Turkish Grand National Assembly
And we don't give a fuck, and we don't give a shit,
Cause we've got the Ministry of the Interior budget

I know what you mean, Ivo using the Polish word for legislature rather than the Turkish threw me for a loop too.

No one could possibly have had the foggiest.

Would you be happy to represent him if the chips were down ?

With Richard's undying, death-defying love for him?

Great, that's in my head for the rest of the day now.

I can think of worse songs to have in there (if you're interested)!
-
Actually I was thinking of Bowie's "Move On". Very under-rated song as is its parent album, Lodger. The Alan Wright of his career, perhaps.
-
Got a feeling this will become one of those epic H&V threads, to be ever on the first page. And rightly so.
-
More footballers should get involved in the politics of their country.
Sasa Curcic could certainly enrich Serbian parliamentary debate, albeit leading to a major Balkan conflagration.

Nothing in life is better than a good headline and this one takes the title from my previous favourite. Sadly, that has been lost due to the BBC introducing SEO headlines, but the short headline that appeared on indexes for this (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/8599459.stm) was "Heather Mills in breast op bust-up". Getting that past the old farts at Broadcasting House was the crowning glory in a mate of mine's brilliant BBC career.
Ivo Stas, chapeau.

It's nobody's business but the Turks.

We have two polar opposites regarding thread titles.
This one which left us confused, unsure, mystified, curious and baffled all in equal measure.
And "How do you wipe yer arse" which eliminates all of the above instantly.
Superb.
-
That's from Villatalk but its their forum-peak whereas H&V has had numerous smash-hit singles/threads.
Edit: Just seen in Off-Topic that we now have our own bum-maintenance discussion on there, with the exact same thread-title!
-
From now on, whenever I get into a lively debate with someone on here, I'm going to respond with "I return it exactly" ;D
That article is a veritable treasure trove of potential H&V cult one liners.
THE BLOWS FLY IN THE AIR
THERE IS A FIGHT IN THE MORNING
“I return it exactly.”
Perhaps there should be some sort of autocorrect on DW saying “less of that both of you” to:
THE DISCUSSION BECAME A FISTAWAY

Off topic, but, yes, agreed, my fave Bowie album. For me a Paul McGrath in Alan Wright’s clothing.

Also has the "African Night Flight" track ... wonder whether this could be the sequel to the African Car Reverser thread? As in 'What happened to the ACR after the car had finished reversing?'

Here is Mr. Alpay whispering sweet nothings into Beckham's shell-like.
Looks like Becksy is about to cup his slenders, to be far.

Savo was part of the Serb uprising against his (distant) relative Slobadan in 2000. Curcic was putting in the hard yards and getting plastic surgery to his beak ahead of a switch to the adult entertainment injury around the same time. History buff Fernando Nelson built a complete replica of Tamworth Castle on his return to Porto.
One of those may not be true.

Love the thought of Senhor Nelson building that replica. Amazing to think he only lasted a season in claret & blue.

I recall The Sun newspaper comic demanding Alpay be sacked by Villa over that. I agreed he should be sacked, but not for that. More for about a dozen other reasons.
-
I entered this thread not having a clue what it was about. I stayed for the content and comments.
Outstanding stuff. Hall of Fame thread.

The adult entertainment injury sounds nasty,
