Exactly.

Spot on as usual Dave.

Done.

Yup, sets about the right under-excited tone.

Of course he wants the Liverpool job, just as Terry wants Chelsea. I shan't mind too much if in 2½ years' time he takes over from Klopp, provided that in the meantime he's taken Villa to the next level, as Sir Graham did before he went off to England. Given his high profile, it's inevitable that the media will refer to us as "Steven Gerrard's Aston Villa"; a few years ago we were "Martin O'Neill's Aston Villa". As long as our manager helps us to fulfil our huge potential as a club I'm happy for us to be his Aston Villa.

my feelings summed up
it is going to take quite a bit to convince me.
My one consolation is that he is not Martinez.
It makes me wonder though who else was on the list ?
I get that he has the right attitude, been in high profile situations etc so lets hope he brings that experience to us with positive results.
All a bit after the lord mayor show for me.

Good stuff Dave.

Just the ability to recognise early when changes are needed will be a big plus for me.

Nicely balanced write up.
Took me a day or too but the main thing for me is the staff he brings in with him and how they function, which can only be better than the ad hoc setup Smith was unfortunately left with. I’ll be perhaps a bit nervy before Brighton but I feel Gerrard’s going to add some real bite and intensity to not only the squad but the club as a whole. Til then, we can only wait and see.

Spot on Dave

Good write up which I think pretty much sums up the mood amongst us Villans. I was drinking with a Liverpool supporting mate in Brum last night and he was questioning our song repertoire when we play them. He said "you lot can't sing in the Liverpool slums or same old scousers always cheating now you have a scouse manager" Good point I said but the Holte End is not really known for collective intelligence and clever thought process so let's wait and see.

I haven't heard that song for ages.
