Title: Everton vs Aston Villa pre match thread - Saturday, May 1 - 8pm
Post by: Toronto Villa on April 29, 2021, 01:00:46 PM
I don’t think there is a lot between Everton and us even without Jack but obviously they have the advantage with us missing him. They seem to have the same inconsistency as us. Can look great at times and just awful also. So much will depend on which version of them shows up. I hope we start Davis and use the other attacking players off him still trying to play football vs just lumping it up to the target man for 90 min.

I’ll go for an optimistic 2-1 win - Watkins and Traore.

They can go joint 5th with West Ham with a win, so I think they'll want it more than us. They haven't been in great form, but think they'll win 2-1.

Who is this Jack that people keep referring to? I remember that a long time ago we had someone called Jack Grealish but, that one was the one that Smith said had a short term injury so, can’t be him, can it!!??

Everything points to a home win but as previously stated, Everton can blow hot and cold, as can we really although it's been the latter rather than the former this side of Christmas that has everyone wetting their knickers on here.

A change of focus from Smith would be nice, given that poor form it would be poor form not to pick Davis but I just don't think he'll do it. Perhaps he'll surprise me and get something of a surprise result.

1-3 and Davis to get the third.

Has the home leg v Everton been announced yet? We'll probably hold-up the end of the league season and play it in June when the Premier League suddenly remember that it still hasn't been played.

Anyway...let's get Keinan to bully the balls off Yerry Mina and Ollie can hit home the knock-downs. 0-3 and Pickford to look silly in that slick new hairstyle that doesn't suit him at all.

Any chance of Jack being back for this?

If not, get Watkins out on the wing and give Davis a go up top. AEG and Barkley both played ok v West Brom so I expect them to start again.

Cash to stay on bench, bit more penance required for his idiocy v Man City.

Two teams with nothing to play for, 3-3 thriller!

Both teams have everything to play for. Evertons biggest game in years, possible Champions League qualification in their own right.

If the scabby 6 get banned from Euro competition for a while, could be difference of Villa playing in the Champions League or shitty Uefa Cup. We need to get above Leeds or Arsenal.

Massive game. Alas, 2-1 Toffees.

The Greedy 6 won't be getting banned from anything. This will all drift off into obscurity like a fart in the wind.

Think we'll lose here BTW.

When Jacks out, Deano always gives the opposition the 'initiative' by only playing one up front.

When Jacks playing, the opposition will be less attack minded and wary of Villa on the break. This gives us the 'iniative'.

Jack is out again. Deano, try something different, play two up front, shock the opposition and give us the 'iniative' an hour before the game even kicks off. Howsabout:

                           Martinez

             Konsa       Mings         Hause

Cash                                                   Targett

                  Luiz             McGinn

                          Traore

            Davis                     Watkins

Subs: Usual Suspects

Why not try three at the back and two up top for a change, we need this flexibility for the future. Be good to have a Plan B.

Just a thought   ::)

So we meet up with Carlo Ancelotti for the first time in 10 years, no doubt one of the greatest managers of all time, won 3 Champions Leagues and runner up in 4 finals. His Chelsea side, which won the title in 2010, were superb to watch, scoring a total of 103 goals in that season, although we did manage to beat them at VP 2-1 Dunne and Collins the scorers, won't mention the reverse fixture.

Getting back to Villa, would like to see Davis start and hopefully Chuk given some game, neither of which I very much doubt will happen. Going 1-1, with Davis doubling his goal tally for us.

I think he was manager last year, though I may well be completely wrong! If so, my mistake!

Seriously, 7 (SEVEN) European Cup finals?! I knew he was good, but that's some going.

Definitely I'd suggest. Ramsey to come in off the bench again I'd say. AEG certainly deserves a start over Traore too based on their respective performances v West Brom.

I expect Barkley to start vs Everton. He wasn’t bad last week. I just hope Dean does what most of us I think hope and start KD. Just to offer something different. I’d like to see what it looks like with Watkins as a partner. I think Ollie is such a smart player that he can really help KD.

We'll probably bring him off the bench to save the game again!
He gives us something different and that's precisely what we need....doing the same thing every game and making it easy to read for the opposition isn't working is it?
