About time our great club got the Hollywood/Netflix/Prime/BT movie treatment. While most of the key figures are alive and able to remember.
Title: New Villa film !

Mods...I hope this is ok to post. Deserves its own thread I think.

New BT Sports documentary coming out in 2022.

Sally Brown, executive producer of BT Sport Films, said: “This is the story of how Aston Villa went from the Third Division to champions of Europe in just 10 years.
“Super Villans is a joyful celebration of a team who conquered Europe and the story of how the club shocked the football world by toppling the likes of Bayern Munich and Barcelona, their opponents in the 1982 European Super Cup, uncovering some barely believable tales along the way. We’d like to thank all of those working with us to help make this documentary happen.”

Looking forward to this! I was born in 1971 so don't remember a lot of the era but enjoy reading about it from those that were. BT Sport films are usually quite good too.

Sounds promising. I hope that they do as the producer says and spend some time on the rise from the 3rd division to Champions of Europe rather than just focusing on the latter. May 1972-playing in Div 3, May 1982 - Rotterdam amazing story.

Yes, some of the games in the third division deserve airing and some of the dates live with you forever, 4/3/72 at Notts county to see us win 3 - 0. the villa fans bouncing up and down it seemed the whole stand was moving. Back into the Viva HA van and put on final score to hear Leeds 7 Southampton 0. Last game of the season at Villa Park, Chesterfield at home, win 1 - 0 nearly 46000 in the ground. Sitting in the Witton Lane near some Chesterfield fans they couldn't believe the crowd. Football in the good old days.

Is there a risk that the message is we are a small club that bounced too high.  As a neutral that story arc is probably more Hollywood.

I enjoyed listening to the excellent Nessun Dorma podcast’s take on this period: https://play.acast.com/s/nessundorma/s4ep8-astonvilla-sgloryyears-1980-82-part1
