I'd like to think we can give these pricks a good beating for trying to break away, but then reality hits. Ollie will be very lonely all night by the looks of things.
-
Ramsay wide left I guess? Well, go for it, make yer mark son.
-
Ramsay wide left I guess? Well, go for it, make yer mark son.
Yep, I guess so. Maybe McGinn though?
-
Oh dear....
-
Solid looking midfield which is needed for this game.
-
Be nice if Chukwuemeka gets a few minutes when we're 4-0 up with quarter of an hour to go.
-
Oh dear....
Given the injuries what's the alternative?
-
Solid looking midfield which is needed for this game.
I agree. I'm not sure how anyone else would've lined up given the circumstances. The only thing that worries me is Traore's work rate and ability to get back.
I'm not expecting anything so hopefully we give them a decent game, and there isn't any VAR controversy.
-
Chucky on the bench.
Hope he gets on at some stage.
-

4-0 up or down?

Or if there is it works for us :)

I wanted Davis to start...something different. Anyway come on lads give it everything.
-
4 1 4 1
Cash konsa mings targett
Marvellous
Traore luiz mcginn Ramsay
Watkins
-
That looks a bit of a dog's arse of a team to be honest.
-
No Jack, Sanson or Trez and Barkley still can’t get in the team.
Surprised he even made the bench.
-
Cant argue with that given injuries and the opposition. Don’t think we need a full back four on the bench though.
-
Be nice if Chukwuemeka gets a few minutes when we're 4-0 with quarter of an hour to go.
4-0 up or down?
Up, of course.
But he might as well get a runout in either situation.
-
That looks a bit of a dog's arse of a team to be honest.
That's the spirit! 😉
-
Where is Sanson? Gone out on loan already?
-
Just the eight changes for Man City from the cup game
Ederson, Walker, Dias, Stones, Zinchenko, Rodrigo, Gündogan, Bernardo, Foden, Mahrez, Jesus.
Subs: Steffen, Aké, Laporte, Èric, Mendy, Cancelo, Fernandinho, Torres, Sterling.
-
Traore the undroppable.
-

Yeah tonight's a hard L, let's be real, but that's not the point. The hope is the point.
-
I would’ve played Davis, and Watkins wide. He’d occupy the centre halves a bit and at least help the ball stick up there. With no Jack it’s hard to see how we are going to get up the pitch.
-
Not looking forward to this one, it's got 25% possession and a good hiding written all over it.
-

Hoooooooof !
-
Is Sanson still injured?

Bloody hell! Might be worth putting a few quid on Spurs for the League Cup. Kick the shit out of them, Villa!
-
Is Sanson still injured?
Yes...knee....out for a while according to smith....which means 6 months probably
-
Is Sanson still injured?
Yes...knee....out for a while according to smith....which means 6 months probably
probably never play for us again then.
-
That's a strong City side, not particularly looking forward to us, but you never know, how much game time will Davis get this time I'm going for 7 mins.
-
Another great opportunity to go 4-4-2 missed. As we will only get no more than 25% possession, what’s the point of playing Traore who is hopeless at defending?
-
Tough game against another of those ESL invincibles.
-
Chucky on the bench.
Hope he gets on at some stage.
Chucky a lá!
Team looks as good as expected, we'll still win 2-0.
-
I actually want to see Traore in number 10 position. Probably not great opposition to try it but I think he can do something centrally so narrow midfield with him drifting around Ollie and let's see what happens.
-
Next season we will be up there mixing with the likes of tonight's opponents. Tonight we're looking for a smash and grab.
-
I would of played Davis, but other than that not sure what else he’s supposed to do with what he’s got available. Let’s hope we at least lay a glove on them unlike at VP last year with Drinky pulling the midfield strings!!
-
I hope we can keep the score down to something respectable
-
Ah well.
-
That's a strong City side, not particularly looking forward to us, but you never know, how much game time will Davis get this time I'm going for 7 mins.
So you're assuming 6 minutes added on then?
-
Have faith
-
Ah well.
Beat me to it! :)
-

Man City is the last opposition to suddenly change formation against, we need to fill the midfield because we will spend most of the game chasing the ball.
-
Chucky on the bench.
Hope he gets on at some stage.
Chucky a lá!
Team looks as good as expected, we'll still win 2-0.
Fuck the Ra.
El Ghazi must be well-miffed that Ramsey is ahead of him in the queue. Probably can have few complaints. Barkley even less so.
-
Man city looked knackered in their last couple of games. Sterling very poor in the semi shame he's on the bench. just keep it tight and work hard off the ball and please no gifts.
-
Chucky on the bench.
Hope he gets on at some stage.
Chucky a lá!
Team looks as good as expected, we'll still win 2-0.
Fuck the Ra.
Trez and Sawiris might not be impressed if they read that.
-
I think both follow different unlikely gods
-
Have Luiz and Marvelous ever played well together?
-
Andy Hinchcliffe Co commentating tonight on Sky. How long before he makes a twat of himself tonight I wonder?
-
WTF?!
-
From the BBC:
Tonight's action
We've got two former Super League sides in action tonight, Tottenham and Manchester City. We've also got an ex-European champion playing, but it's neither of the aforementioned sides. Odd that.
We'll get to Man City's trip to 1982 European Cup winners Aston Villa in due course.
First up, we've got 1961 First Division champions Tottenham's game against Southampton and here is the team news...
-
WTF?
-
Andy Hinchcliffe Co commentating tonight on Sky. How long before he makes a twat of himself tonight I wonder?
It won't go more than 5 minutes
-
Goallllll
-
WTF
-
Holy phuck
-
Half decent start here
-
How long left?
-
Blimey! Any chance of the final whistle?
-
Blimey
-
Is that the quickest goal we've ever scored?
-
Ha! Let's tweak the tiger's tail early doors.
-
22 seconds? What they fucking about at?
-
Take that u Super League wankers!
-
I've only just digested me pie!
-
Is that the quickest goal we've ever scored?
Shaun Teale's own goal against Forest was quicker...
-
Is that the quickest goal we've ever scored?
The one against Cov was quicker?
-
22 seconds. I’ve had shags that lasted less than that! Incredible!
-
Is that the quickest goal we've ever scored?
We scored straight from the KO at Coventry in the mid 90’s didn’t we?......Unsure if it was that quick though.
-
I have to say this is the most lack lustre celebration of a goal on here, ever 😂
-
Bloody hell how much longer is this ref going to drag this match out for?
-
Is that the quickest goal we've ever scored?

Yes, it was about 14 seconds.
-
I have to say this is the most lack lustre celebration of a goal on here, ever 😂
We are all still in shock and fully expect Man City to bang in 7
-
22 seconds? What they fucking about at?
About the same amount of time City lasted in the Super league.
-
This one is now 20 seconds.
-

Norman Collier appears to be operating my stream.
-
Dwight against Cov, weren't it?

That is quality
-
A touch of the ball would be nice.
-
I wish we wouldn't give possession away quite so readily. We're not going to see much of the ball as it is so we shouldn't waste it
-
A touch of the ball would be nice.
Look at who we're against, this is normal.
-
If it's operating a stop-and-go system, I'm up the same creek...

Yes brilliant, like our start.
-
Dwight against Cov, weren't it?
Wasn't it Savo?
Edit- no.
-
Bollocks.
-
Nakamba ball watching there.
-
We gave them that.
From our throw in in their half we play the ball all the way back and set them up in our half again.
-
Nice whist it lasted.
-
Oh well
-
A touch of the ball would be nice.
Look at who we're against, this is normal.
In the Leicester game the other day I think they kept the ball for something like 6 minutes straight. Crazy how they do it. What they are doing to us is just what they do and they’ve done it to way better sides all across Europe.
-
Well constructed goal, but really poor defending.
-
It was always coming
-
Shite defending.
-
Their movement off the ball is phenomenal.
Gonna be a long night!

Foden is a one man team
-
Very informative match thread chaps. Who scored for us?

It is... But for the commentary team it's business as usual.
-
What is the point of Nakamba?
-
Are we ever going to get out of our own penalty area again tonight?
-
Not an ounce of confidence in any of our players to actually retain and pass the ball
-
McGiniesta
-
Man City are playing very, very well.

Might sound a ridiculous comment but I still find them boring to watch.
-
Silva should be off now for a 2nd yellow. 2 dives.
-
Man City are playing very, very well.
Our midfield is making it very easy for them.
-
Very informative match thread chaps. Who scored for us?
John McGinn
-
Walker just bundling into Ramsey.
-
Think Davis might be an idea for a long ball to try and gain territory. City have looked ropey facing their own goal. Obvious foul and booking from Walker.
-
Walker just bundling into Ramsey.
A foul any day of the week - apart from against Man City it would seem
-
That’s a definite foul.
-
Walker just bundling into Ramsey.
How was that not a foul he even looked at Ramsey and then fouled him.
-
Great start with a decent goal, but it has been do one sided since and we have looked like a lower league side at times.
-
We're now below 20% possession. In true game show style, how low can it go?
-
Walker just bundling into Ramsey.
How was that not a foul he even looked at Ramsey and then fouled him.
And that’s exactly why it’s a foul.
-
Going to be a very long night if the ref isn't going to give blatant fouls like that.
-
Great start with a decent goal, but it has been do one sided since and we have looked like a lower league side at times.
We can't compete with these Super League sides.
-
Fucking hell.
We finally get the ball in their half, and Traore gives Watkins a hospital pass.
-
Man City break up play by niggly little fouls. They have used that tactic for a while. Refs never get tough on it.
-
Man City are playing very, very well.
Our midfield is making it very easy for them.
Nakamba is there to disrupt he has to be better at doing his job.
-
We've done well to stop shots on goal, as they've actually not created much, despite looking so menacing.
But the midfield don't quite know when to step out and press, as Foden keeps slipping into space. Lengthen the game with the long ball.
That said I've not seen a side move the ball as quickly as this.
-
My commentary is just horrifically biased.
Just listening to it makes me feel horrifically sick.
-
Great start with a decent goal, but it has been do one sided since and we have looked like a lower league side at times.
We can't compete with these Super League sides.
Former super league sides!
-
Be nice if one of our midfielders put a tackle in
-
Man City are playing very, very well.

He's completely out of his depth. Offering nothing with and without the ball.
-
Be nice if one of our midfielders put a tackle in
Or a nice reducer 😂

Was thinking the same about Foden, he's between the lines every time. Nakamba needs to get on him.
-
We all know how good man city are.
But we have to show a little bit of quality when we actually get the ball.
-

Our midfield set up is a mess though. Luiz left of Nakamba for some bizarre reason and too far ahead of the ball.
-
Something not mentioned when we scored - brilliant work by Mings for the goal. The quick-thinking, vision and pass were all top-notch.
-
We all know how good man city are.
But we have to show a little bit of quality when we actually get the ball.
Doulas luiz being a prime fucking example there.
-
We all know how good man city are.
But we have to show a little bit of quality when we actually get the ball.
I think we have!
-
Terrible pass Luiz
-
Reall,y really shit watch this. Midfield are all over the shop again.
-
Thats weak from the referee, seeing the Scab rolling around and making a judgment.
-
My commentary is just horrifically biased.
Just listening to it makes me feel horrifically sick.
Pathetic, isn't it?
-
didnt touch him.
-
Fuck the fuck off ref
-
So getting a touch on the ball only counts when it's against Villa eh
-
Luiz can get the coach back with them to be honest.
-
He should put Davies on with Watkins’s and play a bit long at times put a bit of pressure on there back four instead of this constant pressure. Ramsey is out of his depth here.
-
So the ref gives that because he rolls around.
-
I’ve switched off.
I can’t stand hearing the commentators talking about one of the Scab6 as though nothing has happened.
-
Where's VAR when you need it?
-
We’re struggling against 11, let alone when the ref makes it 12.
-
Another shocker from the ref.
-
Car crash refereeing
-
I’ve switched off.
I think the whole team has.
-
The ref has been abysmal so far, saw a none challenge then because the player was roling around he changed his mind. Fuck 1-2
-
Bollocks
-
Co commentator whoever the fuck it is mistakenly called Ramsey Watkins.
-
Doulas luiz has been fucking shit tonight
-
They don't play bad passes do they.
-
Poor from Martinez. Two soft goals.
-
Terrible from Cash.
-
Terrible.
-
Let’s be honest. We are playing a side that is going to walk away with the title and likely be in another 2 cup finals. To think our team devoid of Jack can stay with this lot is asking a lot. So if you think we look shit well yes we probably do. But they have done this to way better sides. I don’t see the reason to keep pointing that out tonight. Different when it’s against Fulham or Brighton or the like.
-
We'll do well just to keep the score down here.
We’re offering nothing bar setting up camp in our box.
-
This is going to be a cricket score
-
Cash against Foden equals pain
-
Turning off. No point watching this, the referee has decided who is going to win before kick off.
-
Fucking sort it out Dean!
-
Some of our passing tonight has been hopeless when pressed.
Foden is also one of best English talents in last 30 years, no question.
-
Great start with a decent goal, but it has been do one sided since and we have looked like a lower league side at times.
We can't compete with these Super League sides.
Former super league sides!
Sorry, yes.
You can take the team out of the Super League, but you can't take the Super League out of the team.
Particularly when that team has injected enough financial steroids since 2008 to put Lance Armstrong's shrivelled nut to shame. (Not that there's any shame in having one ball, I just couldn't think of a more infamous abuser of steroids.)
-
Oh dear.
-
That's a red.
-
Shit, shit defending. Nakamba looking like a fart in a sieve, Mings marking nobody and Martinez wafting at the ball. Shite all round.
-
That should be a red for Stones
-
Doulas luiz’s value must be diminishing with every pass he fucks up or tackle he misses.
-
Shit. Wtf is Martinez doing there
-
Traore as usual, needs to be hooked.
-
Let’s be honest. We are playing a side that is going to walk away with the title and likely be in another 2 cup finals. To think our team devoid of Jack can stay with this lot is asking a lot. Sunday will be a better gauge. Win that and we can still be top half again.
-
It won’t be though. He’ll get away with it
-
Surely must be off. Surely??

Some of that is true but Im fed up of teams rolling over for Man city. I honestly don't rate them that much.
-
Goodnight everyone. The delighted commentators have done it for me.
-
We don't have a DCM. No bite.
-
Fucking red card surely
-
Gotta be a red card there, fucking horrible challenge.
-
Fuck.
We to the pub for the first in about 6 months and came home to
switch on at 1.0
Sorry guys should have stayed outside in the cold.
-
Thats a red card surely
-
he's got to go for that
-
Let’s be honest, from our point of view, it’s been quite a shit match. Will Luiz and Traore ever win a tackle. Even worse, City now down to 10 and, we know how we usually play against 10 men!!
-
He’s gone!
-
That's red all day long
-
Right decision. Not that it will make a difference to the result.
-
Rodri can fuck off complaining about it as well, c**t.
-
I’m only surprised VAR didn’t give City a penalty.
-
Deserved red, terrible challenge. Won’t make any difference to us mind
-
Well done ref RED all day long
-
Fuck off Stones.
-
16% possession.
-
I fucking hate Man City and always have.
But what I hate more is how starstruck we are when we play them. It's like those celebrity pro-am games where the pros take it easy with the celebs and let them do their thing, that's how we seem when we play them.
I wish we'd press them more, and get more physical. It's well established that Kloppball beats Pepball, we should try at least and swamp their defenders with the press now and again.
Davis on at HT for the physicality.
-
This is a bad thing surely, we couldn't score a goal v worst team in league by a distance last time we played 10.
More likely Man. City get another 2 goals.
Must get Davis on at half time just to get it to stick upfront now, don't really understand why Ollie is just drifting around the halfway line. This type of game he needs to be about 20 yards inside his own half offering himself whenever we get the ball on edge of the box to get the moves going.
-
And fuck off Guardiola
-
Actually surprised he gave red. Should be, but how he has been reffing, im surprised
-
Fuck off Baldy
-
John Stones making his customary contribution to ensuring the game is closer than it should be,
-
Pep can fuck himself as well, if studs up into the knee isn't a straight red then what is?
-
How can he argue that
-
Fuck is Pep crying about?
-
In fairness losing Stones probably helps them more than it helps us.
-
Great start with a decent goal, but it has been do one sided since and we have looked like a lower league side at times.

-
Luiz off and Davis on at half time.
-
Yellow for that twat too. Don't touch the wanker in black!
-
dirty bastard stones. ramsey just a kid. Lets start leaving a bit on foden every time.
-
I fucking hate Man City and always have.

Davis on at HT for the physicality.
I totally agree.
-
Fuck off Pep you fucking animal, red card all day.
-
Sub either Luiz or Nakamba. Both have been dire.
-
Fuck off Baldy
Charming :)
-
I find the Guardiola protest so annoying. I’d be embarrassed if it was Smith - it was a clear red by any objective measure. I’d send him off, there shouldn’t be tolerance. It’s one thing to disagree it’s another to harass the fourth official.
-
Get Davis on. Cause some hell.
-
Maybe just maybe.
We can beat 10 men.
Villa, villa, Villa !!!
-
Fuck off Baldy
Charming :)
Not you ,Baldy
-
Can we now please have a go at them? Maybe get ourselves up to 35% possession or something.
-
How many player would they have to lose before we could compete.
-
Ball retention awful yet again
-
That red ends the game.
-
Have to say Man City are a very good team, not out of it yet though.
-
How many player would they have to lose before we could compete.
Another 2 should even it up.
-
2nd half hook Bert, Davis on
-
You'd have to be mental to take Traore off when we're playing against ten men.
-
2nd half hook Bert, Davis on
Luiz surely
-
Nakamba off for me, utterly out of his depth.
-
You'd have to be mental to take Traore off when we're playing against ten men.
He's been hopeless.
-
Great start, but yet again far too passive. Ball retention woeful yet again.
-
Man City have the best squad in world football but my God they are a horrible, dirty side.
-
I know everyone loses against Man City
But I’ve seen plenty of teams do more with the ball against them then we have
Rabbits in headlights for most of that first half
-
Get Keinan on to Hulk them up. Make it stick and give Citeh something to think about. Maybe Barkley for Nakamba too. Nothing to lose, Ross might come good with pressure off.
-
Luiz for El Ghazi would be my choice but happy to give it ten minutes and see how it goes. Bring Davis on for a defender with ten minutes left if we are still behind.
-
We can get something in the second half I would bring Davis on.
-
I’d like to see us bring on the second forward at half-time. Do something brave.
-
You'd have to be mental to take Traore off when we're playing against ten men.
He's been hopeless.
Hasn't been great, still our most likely player to stretch them and make something happen.
-
How many player would they have to lose before we could compete.
Well, they did give us a head start
-
Great to have good old football back.
-
They're obviously too good for us, but there's always a chance. Totally agree with the calls for Davis, and retain hope that Dean will break the habit of a lifetime and make a change at HT.
-
Traore would have to start stretching his legs before being able to stretch the City defence!!
-
If luiz commits to a tackle, they don’t score that second goal
-
Ashley Preece on Twitter: "Keinan Davis being put through his paces by Paddy Moore, Villa's fitness coach. Davis is the only sub out at half-time. Expect to see that change. #AVFC"
-
If luiz commits to a tackle, they don’t score that second goal
?
-
Juve sadly now beating Parma 3-1 after it was 1-1 at half time. Scab 12 making their way back. Still, Sassuolo beat Milan earlier which was funny, and we're still in this.
-
I fully expect them to dominate even with ten men. We're not very good in possession at all.

Great to have good old football back.
Yep, oh for the days when all you had to do was spend £2b on players and pay them £10m a week in wages and you'd become decent. The Super League killed the romanticism of football 😥
-
Come on Dean man - make the subs.
-
I'd love to see Davis come on, probably for Traore but we all know it won't happen. He'll probably make a change when we're 4 1 down after 75 minutes.
-
If luiz commits to a tackle, they don’t score that second goal
?
The corner is knocked away, it drops between luiz and a Man City player...luiz with a half arsed challenge, ball played wide, cross, goal.
-
If luiz commits to a tackle, they don’t score that second goal
I'm with you. It was a half hearted challenge for a ball that he was favourite for. We still have too many players bottling it or being wasteful with the ball.
-
So Dean contests a decision that results in a rule change and is sent off, that bald ****** wanks on at the ref for a legitimate red card but stays where he is.
Fuck off, just fuck off.
-
You'd have to be mental to take Traore off when we're playing against ten men.
Leaving him on and we are effectively playing with 10....maybe with more space he might get into the game but it's a fair old risk. Our midfield set up is tactically naive. Luiz left of Nakamba and too far ahead of the ball. We simply have to play with two 6s. Nakamba is nowhere near good enough to be taking the ball from the back. A complete mess of Smiths own making.
The gulf in quality between both teams is huge. But that red gives us a sniff of a chance. Would like to see us have a proper go. Nakamba is totally lost and didn't track Fodens run for the first. Terrible decision for Martinez for the second.
Great goal from McGinn. Let's get Davis on, shift Watkins left and take their defence on second half.
-
I fully expect them to dominate even with ten men. We're not very good in possession at all.
I agree, that pass Doug did just before the second summed it up.
He gets the ball on the edge of the box, looks up to see Cash and makes it obvious he's going to pass towards him. Cash just stands and waits for the ball to come to him and Zinchenko just nips in and wins the free kick on edge of the box.
Man. City just levels above, instant first time passing and players moving into the space where they know where the ball is going. Not just 100ms worth of talent but relentlessly drilled on the training pitch.
-
Sounds like Davis is getting on!
-
I fucking hate Man City and always have.
I totally agree.
Drives me mad as well. They have so much space around the area - we just don’t close down well enough for all Smith talks about it. Leeds made it much harder for them last week, even with 10 men.
-
Let’s try mixing it up a bit, put them under pressure. Even with ten men they’ll pass us to death.
-
Davis on
-
For some reason, I want to put £5 on Keinan to score the winner tonight.
Blind optimism... just have a feeling in my waters
-
If we’re going to play two in front of the defence they need to be much better better than Luiz and Nakamba.
-
David to get 45 mins!!
Yes.
-
On for Ramsey. Fair enough.
At least we've done something instead of waiting for hour mark and 1-3 down.
-
Bit harsh on Ramsey when he got one player sent off and it should have been two. Still, Mon Keinan.
-
Southgate telling Jack how good foden is.
-
Let’s give it a go. It will make us play differently. No point having him in the squad if you don’t give him a proper chance to contribute.
-
Looks like Keinan coming on for Ramsey- would have taken Traore off instead though.
-
Ramsey has probably been our best midfielder.
-
Pep should have been sent off for his behaviour to the 4th official.
-
Laporte on for Jesus for them. Thank christ for that....
-
Southgate telling Jack how good foden is.
Probably Mason Mount.
-
Southgate telling Jack how good foden is.
And asking him about that shit coat he’s got on. “IT’S CHANEL”
-
For some reason, I want to put £5 on Keinan to score the winner tonight.
Blind optimism... just have a feeling in my waters
Do it! The odds must be pretty good!?
-
Can we get a Villa player within twenty yards of Traore when he gets the ball, please?
-
Fuck off Traore, useless.
-
So Kane gets a penalty with the ball gone but not Davis. The deceit and hypocrisy is appalling
-
Has nakamba put 6 stone on ?
-
Nakamba a bit slow there too.
-
Laporte on for Jesus for them. Thank christ for that....
So they will play with a very false number 9.
-
God Nakamba is so deeply hopeless. He looks like a 12 year old playing grown up football.
-
They're good this lot but we are a threat.
Come on Villa, we can do these.
(just try and retain some possession please and cut out the sloppy passing)
-
Good effort Luiz
-
I fully expect them to dominate even with ten men. We're not very good in possession at all.

Worth remembering that Leeds beat these when down to ten men themselves so not impossible I suppose. Thing is though they're the one team that are as well drilled as Man City and with a clearly defined style. I just can't see what our style is supposed to be these days.
-
We really have been very poor for several months. I know Manchester City are a good side but we can at least compete. Start kicking people for fuck’s sake
-
We give it away so cheaply, time after time
-
God Nakamba is so deeply hopeless. He looks like a 12 year old playing grown up football.
Can’t believe Smith chose Ramsey to be subbed.
-
COME ON VILLA !!!
-
I fully expect them to dominate even with ten men. We're not very good in possession at all.

It doesn't help that Jack is out
-
I think some of ours have been on the beach for weeks
-
Nakamba is a waste of space, looks like a kid chasing everyone around. Sell him in the Summer for magic beans, he's garbage.
-
Foden is class.
-
I'd take the draw now.
-
If we lose this it’s 16 points from 16 games. Nearly half a season of relegation form.
-
I fully expect them to dominate even with ten men. We're not very good in possession at all.

Losing a player like that will obviously hurt but we've had long enough to try to adapt. We're so reliant on one player it's becoming a bit embarrassing.
That said we've started fairly well this half.
-
Cash you fucking twat.
All because your first touch is shit
-
Idiotic. That's probably that.
-
You fucking idiot Cash.
-
Cash wtf
-
Oh Cash. You dick.
-
Fucking hell Cash! No need.
-
What a fucking idiot
-
Nakamba is useless. What the fuck is Cash doing, clown.
-
What a brain dead idiot, absolute clown.
-
Brainless. We have been looking so much better this half. All wasted now
-
Fucking hell
-
Ridiculous from Cash
-
We must have the thickest players in the division
-
Cash you fucking twat.
All because your first touch is shit
Agreed, dismal play.
-
Moronic from Cask. Totally unnecessary. What a dick!
-
No complaints with that, Cash lost the ball and made a rash challenge.
-
Well, there it goes.
-
And folk have been eulogising Cash this season. Fucking bonehead.
-
Cash is a twat. No need for that at all.
-
Can we get a fucking grip of this season and not piss it up the wall.
-
He's been absolutely tore apart all game again, pathetic decision.
-
Bollocks.
-
What a shame. What a stupid way to throw away any small chance we had.
-
I fully expect them to dominate even with ten men. We're not very good in possession at all.

Jinx
-
Need to get at Dungodan.
To make it 9
-
Very unprofessional from Cash there. Ridiculous. No argument from me sadly.
-
Can we get a fucking grip of this season and not piss it up the wall.
Too late
-
Stupid Cash
-
Cash?? What??? Congratulations on your new contract, here's an idea why don't you celebrate by scything down a City player 2 minutes after you give away a dangerous free kick and get booked against the best team in the Premier League?? Go on, you deserve it!
-
Might aswell get Traore and Nakamba off
-
Absolutely fucking braindead challenge from Cash.
-
Nakamba is a waste of space, looks like a kid chasing everyone around. Sell him in the Summer for magic beans, he's garbage.
Always have been from day 1
-
Would help if we passed to Davis now he's on
-
I wonder what it was that those girls in Iceland found so attractive about the fabulously wealthy Phil Foden?
-
Dean would probably sub Keinan back off if he could.
-
might aswell go with back three to see if we can get anything out of the game
-
Is it too late to change my mind about the Super League?
-
Here comes Ross!!!!
-
Yay, Barkley. That'll show em.
-
Yes, Man City are a million miles better than us.
But why can’t we just do the simple things right ?
Simple passes, keep a bit a possession, stay on our feet ?
As much as they are beating us, we aren’t helping ourselves.
-
Oh good. Barkley’s getting ready.
-
Ah. Le grand Dross
-
Is it too late to change my mind about the Super League?
Matty Cash made a Super League tackle, in fairness. Albeit, the Wigan Warriors variety.
-
What is the fucking point of Traore?
-
Oh good, chunk is coming on.
-
Just what is that pretend leg tackle that Luiz is so fond of?
-
Here comes Ross!!!!
Can he do any worse than Nakamba?
-
Don't worry lads and lasses, Barkley is coming on for an evening stroll.
-
Ross coming on.
Let’s hope he has his head together as he could be useful.
-
How is that a free kick
-
What is the fucking point of Traore?
Literally no idea.
-
Utterly inexcusable and irresponsible by Cash, total ineptitude to get booked, then lose control of the ball when under no pressure, and to immediately commit another foul that was bound to engage another yellow card. What a wanker, and it's it's not with hindsight that we may ask what was so bad about Guilbert?
-
Think Nakamba has been very poor tonight and he was for me against Liverpool too. An area to strengthen come the summer.
-
Cash is good, but he is prone to all kinds of brainstorms, of which that was a perfect example. Cut that out and he'll be fine.
-
At least we are still in it
-
Cash, not much between his ears.
-
Luiz can go back to Man City. The physical presence of a fart.
-
At least Dean is going for it.
-
Oh good. Barkley’s getting ready.
He has opened up the defence quite a few times in his more recent games, unfortunately its been our own.
-
Here comes Ross!!!!
Can he do any worse than Nakamba?
Challenge accepted!

Luiz can go back to Man City. The physical presence of a fart.
I don’t know about that. Some of mine can be quite potent!
-
Rally been a poor second half of the season.
-

Good start to be fair. Set up a City attack and trotted back.
-
Should have been Chukwuemeka instead of Barkley.
-
Another dodgy Ross on the books. I'm. Not sure this one could climb over a gate either.
First touch, gives it away. Jesus.
-
Ah. Le grand Dross
Be like we are down to 9 players
-
Good corner, should have done better.
-
Cash is good, but he is prone to all kinds of brainstorms, of which that was a perfect example. Cut that out and he'll be fine.
For heaven's sake, he's a total liability, whilst giving the appearance of giving it all he's got.
-
Should have been Chukwuemeka instead of Barkley.
Good shout sir! Same old Dean, same old subs.
-
Foul on Konsa surely?
-
I remember Xabi Alonso once saying that the need to make a tackle showed that you'd failed, as a defensive midfielder, at some point in the build up. At least he would actually still make one if necessary. Ours look like they've read the textbooks and decided to be purists.
-
Well, the first twenty odd seconds were great.
-
Why the hell is Smith persevering with Barkley?
-
How is that not a penalty against Silva?
-
Cash is good, but he is prone to all kinds of brainstorms, of which that was a perfect example. Cut that out and he'll be fine.

He’s not at all. He’s a young full back still learning the game at the top level. He’s had a brilliant first season. He’s made mistakes along the way. It happens.
-
Why the hell is Smith persevering with Barkley?
He's banking on him coming good soon
-
How is that not a penalty against Silva?
Konsa isn't Harry Kane/Jesus........
-
Konsa got fouled then surely?
-
Why the hell is Smith persevering with Barkley?
I do wonder had we had a player like Bellingham would we ever have done what Dortmund have done and thrown him in at the highest level? I very much doubt we would have.
-
Today Cash looked every bit like a Championship winger playing at right back.
-
Should have been Chukwuemeka instead of Barkley.
Good shout sir! Same old Dean, same old subs.
Eh?
Davis on at half time for a midfielder. Then we go down to 10 men, losing a defender so he puts on an attacking player for a defensive one.
-
Cash is good, but he is prone to all kinds of brainstorms, of which that was a perfect example. Cut that out and he'll be fine.

Lost his head a few times this season. Need better mentality. Will learn
-
We're looking A bit under-9 level football atm
-
4 wins in 18. Very, very poor.
-
Wtf is Ross thinking?
-
I think we look like a side playing the best team in Europe without all our best players and in a funky run of form myself.
-
Fucking hell Barkley. Woeful.
-
4 wins in 18. Very, very poor.
Relegation form. We need better.
-
Don't know why we aren't trying Watkins on the left wing
-
Get Bert off.
It’s 60Chukwuemeka time. !!!
-
Every time Man City are in possession, they keep hold of the ball for 2 or 3 minutes.
We keep hold of it for 2 or 3 seconds.
-
Ross is getting on my nerves. Runs in areas where he isn't defending or pressing... hiding
-
In other news,is McGinn playing?
-
Haha Mahrez. Tit.
-
Get that Minecraft headed ****** back to Chelsea.
-
My only theory is that Deano needs to prove to Jack how shit Barkley is so there are no complaints when we don’t sign him in the summer.
-
Cash is good, but he is prone to all kinds of brainstorms, of which that was a perfect example. Cut that out and he'll be fine.

Quite. He's trying really hard, is young and developing.
-
Fuck it’s el Ghazi
-
Fuck it’s el Ghazi
Ffs
-
Oh FFS, try something different Smith.
-
I am beginning to believe there is no attention paid to ball retention in training as it would not be possible to work on that and still give the ball away as much as we do.
-
Come on AEG, have your Ronaldo boots on today please.
-
Fuck it’s el Ghazi
But at least it’s Traore off
-
Barkley chased that down well there.
No, no he didn't.
-
No way a foul by Doug !
-
As good as Man City are our inability to put two passes together without giving it away is truly wretched to watch.
-
At least with only 10 men we can't play 4-3-3.
-
To be fair though, he showed some good touches there.
-
In other news,is McGinn playing?
Last seen playing in the championship league play off final

He's done well, but that was inexcusable tonight I'm afraid. Smith ought to haul him over the coals for that
-
At least with only 10 men we can't play 4-3-3.
Corrected for you.
-
I been home from work ten minutes and I don’t think I’ve seen us in their half yet. Depressing. Reminds me of 98-99 season although we obviously weren’t top of the table last Christmas.
-
Foden giving our Rolls Royce problems. Fantastic player, even if he is a peak scally.
-
I am beginning to believe there is no attention paid to ball retention in training as it would not be possible to work on that and still give the ball away as much as we do.
The square balls annoy the hell out me. We are losing, we should be passing forwards not square. And never, ever blind square passes 40yds from our own goal, Mr McGinn!
-
In other news,is McGinn playing?

Last seen scoring after 20 seconds tonight
-
No way a foul by Doug !
agreed, some of the free kicks they've been given have been soft as shit.
-
Barkley chased that down well there.
No, no he didn't.
Attacking player? My arse!!
-
Has Davis touched the ball?
-
I think we just put about 20 passes together there
-
Huge work to do over the Summer to improve this piss poor midfield.
-
I hope PSG beat these ******* I'd hate for them to win a treble
-
In other news,is McGinn playing?

That doesn't give him a free pass
-
Another stray pass from our Ross.
-
Matt Targett is working his nuts off as centre half come full back. Top player.
-
Barkley can’t pass or run. Waste of a shirt.
-
Have we had a shot in the 2nd half?

That's sort of what I was meaning to imply - he scored but done nothing much since
-
Barkley is every bit as useless as Drinkwater was.
-
Bizarre tactics second half
-
I hope PSG beat these ******* I'd hate for them to win a treble
Agreed, I know we aren't exciting to watch but with all the money they have have you would think they could win and entertain.
-
Great goal kicks
-
Who is the commentator on Sky? He seems to have had an endless stream of negative stats about us tonight.
-
All it takes is a poor midfield to make the whole team look poor.
-
All it takes is a poor midfield to make the whole team look poor.
Or one man to make them look like world beaters.

Not sure who the “main” commentator is. Some sky rent a gob.

Barkely off the ball deary me.

Grealish snoring.

It's sadly not just the quality that's missing our workrate is way behind City's. Davis quiting on that ball then another example and everything Ross Barkley has done since he came on
-
What has Smith seen in Barkley to make him think it’s a good idea to put him on the pitch?

Yes. Walker wasn’t giving up on that.
Levels.
-
Was a pretty clear "Roiss get over there" from the bench for that corner so at least they can see how fucking lazy he is off the ball.
-
It's sadly not just the quality that's missing our workrate is way behind City's. Davis quiting on that ball then another example and everything Ross Barkley has done since he came on
Exactly this.Allied to the worst passing I can ever remember.
-
Another good few quid needs spending in the summer.
-
Come on Villa. Push.
-
Who is the commentator on Sky? He seems to have had an endless stream of negative stats about us tonight.
Is it Russell Osman?
Andy Hinchcliffe (ex City) is the co commentator and so biased. All we have is Bent who is hardly a Villa fanatic
-
We bring on Davis then just play square balls on the rare occasion we get possession.
-
Really shite again from us. Such a lack of desire and purpose. So cheap in losing possession and lack of quality in retaining possession. Definite backwards step since January. Surely none of the players enjoying this?
-
4 wins in 18. Very, very poor.
Is that our league form? That's relegation form wtf.
-
The Albion will be fancying their chances at the weekend. We are treating the ball like a live grenade and that’s when we actually get it.
-
Our passing is atrocious
-
Agree - midfield is where it’s going wrong. Our wingers are too weak and unpredictable. McGinn... I love him but I fear he’s not what we need when we’ve got our squad reduced to this extent. Luis is out of form and Nakamba looks out of his depth tonight more so than normal.
But equally, we’re not creating many chances. We’re not having many shots. That has been part of the drop off in the New Year.
A learning curve this season. With the right investment - which I’m sure will be forthcoming - we’ll be better next season.
-
Just dominate the last thirty seconds like we did the first thirty and sneak a draw. Easy.

has AEG actually touched the ball ?
-
We're seeing out the 2-1 really well, great game management.
-
Would love Davis to nick a goal

Michael Brown's opinion of the Stones sending off
VAR see the contact on the slow motion - John Stones comes across and hesitates and then goes to play the ball. Yes, he catches him it's a yellow it's not one where he's below the knee and the leg's planted where you can seriously injure someone, it's really high. The referees need to understand the difference in contact, at this point the referees don't understand that.
-

-

I disagree, I think we've worked rally hard, the problem is that when you defend for long periods it's a lot more tiring (mentally as much as physically) and it's taken it out of us. In the first half of the season we worked as hard as anyone. We need more of the ball, the passing is comfortably the biggest weakness for us in the last few months.
-
Would love Davis to nick a goal
Nurse!
Doctor more like ha ha
-
Easiest 2-1 win City will have all season. Sounds close but, we haven’t really laid a glove on them. If it hadn’t been Villa playing, I’d have switched this off long ago.
-
A significant improvement on last season at least.

In the first half of the season we worked as hard as anyone. We need more of the ball, the passing is comfortably the biggest weakness for us in the last few months.
Well I must be watching a different game. We've worked really hard?

Was it worth us even turning up?
-
Would love Davis to nick a goal
Nurse!
Doctor more like ha ha
He couldn't nick bog roll from Tesco's.
-
A significant improvement on last season at least.
Well, maybe the first half a dozen games.
-
Outclassed, passing not good enough at all and you end up getting more ragged as you tire.
Oh well. Best side in Europe and half of my least favourite fixture of the season.
-
Utter shit, as it has been for months. Smith is clueless.
-
Cash hadn't got sent off think we would have got a draw.
Very poor form without Grealish, as always. Smith has no clue what to do without him.

You must be, we've been chasing shadows for about 80 minutes and look like it had got to us. That's no excuse for Barkley though who barely broke a sweat.

I only saw last 15 mins. Considering we were trailing we barely got forward. Depressing end to the season. We bloody need to beat Sandwell.

They were head and shoulders better than us. Scary how wide the gulf in class is between the top 4 and the rest of the premiership. Losing 1-2 to that team is almost a positive.
