Sanson to get on the scoresheet.

That's a pretty young bench and very interesting to Kessler is included should Elmo struggle

Significant changes from us. These guys won't have had chance to develop relationships with each other on the park so may lack a little fluency and cohesion at times.

Good to see Sanson starting though and hope Luiz ups his game.

Come on boys!

El Ghazi must be injured  - not even on the bench.

Expect they'll play their Traore on the left against Elmo - who will get murdered, unless he gets some support from midfield. Unfortunately that's likely to be Bernie, who isn't the most conscientious when it comes to getting back. Perhaps Sanson will fill that role.

I reckon Sanson on the same side as Traore, and McGinn with Trez. Keeps the left foot/right foot, inside/outside combinations out wide if our fullbacks have to stay at home.

We need to make the extra man in midfield count today. Dougie and Sanson are better passers. Let's hope Dougie is back to what he can be like after his games out.

Each time I see Wolves play (maximum twice per year) I am reminded again as to how hideous that kit is.  'Old gold' as my simple-minded dog head mate calls it.

Come on Villa, let's have some high energy attacking football from the off.

The positive is that we're creating better quality chances than in the week already.

I actually think Watkins did the right thing with that chance but Traore had just checked back as he played it, if he doesn't it's a bit of a tap in.

I was interested to see how he was going to combine with Sanson. Both have the ability to get up and down. McGinn is a much more limited footballer just defending most of the time. Actually as is Doug.

i think our midfield have been ok, much more balanced than in the week. The only problem was a couple of slightly casual touches from Luiz but he's also done some great covering play.

Guess we have hit the bar twice but there isn't much cohesion to our play...

Luiz is frustrating me...taking no responsibility in getting on the ball. Playing it backwards every time

We look a bit short of confidence in the final 3rd but we're not far away from the team we saw in the first month of the season, we could have 3-4 here with a bit of composure/luck.

working really hard. 2 or 3 men buzzing around when ever they have ball.

O.k with that.

Just not got the final ball right but we've got in the positions and should've got at least one goal from the two that hit the bar.

Wolves offered nothing unless Neto is on the ball.

Neither team has much to change it from the bench so interesting which one willl dip more in last 20 minutes. That's probably where the game will be won if there's a winner.

I'd have Sanson ahead of Elmo and McGinn, he's been at the heart of everything we've done so far. Watkins is on his own against 3 centre backs and has been on top, really impressive performance.

Yes, they all seem to be more complete as a wide player. Traore, Trez and El Ghazi all have their strong points, but all of them can be a bit hopeless at times as well. None of them have that out and out pace either.

I'd take Bert off soon, give the youngster a run and swap Trez to the right.

It feels like this team has reached its ceiling. That with Jack we have a little more but without him we are entirely predictable. And the same with Dean Smith. Without better players he is also limited. He’s squeezed all he can out of this group. We will still win games and we have days like this but realistically this is now a mid table team at best.

It’s possible. But when I look at how much West Ham, Everton and Spurs as examples of teams in and around us have spent just in the time we have been out of this league, it’s not entirely shocking to see us hit a wall. They have consistently bought a better grade of player for a more sustained period of time. I think with the right investment in the summer we will take another step forward but we might be at our limit now. We took a lot of teams by surprise early in but after being scouted, after a tiring season and Jack being out we just look flat.

It feels like this team has reached its ceiling. That with Jack we have a little more but without him we are entirely predictable. And the same with Dean Smith. Without better players he is also limited. He’s squeezed all he can out of this group. We will still win games and we have days like this but realistically this is now a mid table team at best.

Way over the top

Agreed. TV reel it in, we are on a journey, it will be bumpy but it’s going in the right direction. We have some fantastic kids to come though and we are the youngest team in the league. It’s only going to get better

Reel what in? What in the last few weeks provides you evidence that might just have run out of steam this season. I know we are on a journey, and that journey won’t always be smooth. This is the bumpy part.
Thankfully we have enough  points on the board as I see this season petering out after so much promise ...Smith has done well to get us up and stay up but is he the man to take us to the next level ? Despite a few good results this season he is constantly out thought by other coaches

I think a few people on here need to stop being drama queens and realise how much better we are than we were last season. We are ninth, three points behind Liverpool, two points behind Spurs and two points above Arsenal.

Seems a perfectly reasonable assessment to me. What do you think this squad of players is? Champions League certainties?

As I’m sure the management realise, another striking option is a priority in the summer.

Point gained on last seasons result. Draw probably fair over 90 mins, Sanson looked good, defense and keeper good, Ramsey full of energy when on, Barkley barely looks mobile and lumping balls to Davis didn’t work at end. 40 points and still a lot to play for.

But has also done the job on Belsay, Klopp, Nuno and Rodgers. Or do managers only get out thought when they're.in our dug out?

No.

Injuries and lack of striker options were always going to hamper us eventually.

We are having a rough period and struggling for goals but look on the bright side in the last 8 games we have scored 5 goals but taken 11 points.

All teams have a dip in form but we are winning games despite being below our best. I would love to see Dean start to blood the youngsters and give them game time and then have a clear out of Elmo, Taylor, Davis, Trez and El Ghazi while adding a couple more quality additions.

I am happy with our progress and the great thing is the back 5 are young and will continue to get better. Keep the faith folks.

Seems a decent enough result to me. We nicked the first game against them with Jack and took a point off them without him. Without Jack's creativity and record for assists, not to mention his goals it was always going to be tough. 4 points from a possible 6 against them and limiting them to 1 against us is creditable I'd say.
