Marv in for Doug. There was a different vibe to the press conference yesterday. Like some words had been said. I expect we will see a much better performance.
-
Yeah pleased with that provided McGinn and Barkley are both on it.
-
Need a game from Barkley, fortunate to be in for me.
-
I almost called it. I just had Trez in for Traore.
-
Like all the others, Luiz was bad on Wednesday, but I'm not sure that's the right decision. McGinn looks like he's running on fumes.
-
I forgot Traore back in for AEG
Arsenal:Ryan, Bellerin, Gabriel, Holding, Cedric, Partey, Xhaka, Pepe, Smith Rowe, Saka, Lacazette
Aubameyang on the bench
-
Glad that Nakamba is in. He deserves to be back.
A bit worried otherwise about our midfield. Traore and Barclay in particular need to remember their defensive duties.
As has been said Barkley is a tad fortunate to keep his place.
-
Wouldn't have been surprised if it was McGinn that was dropped, anyway hope we put in a better performance than Wednesdays effort.
-
Some players do seem undroppable it seems.
-
Well the majority of that team owes us, themselves and the manager a performance.
Get back in the groove and 2nd half of the season all to play for. Struggle and lose again and it will peter out and all the good work will be wasted
Come on villa
-
Barkley is a very lucky lad to be honest, he was dire on Wednesday. I'd have played Trez with Jack at number 10, but let's see how Ross does I suppose.
-
I struggle with Barkley and Traore starting.
Not confident.
-
Would feel a lot safer with Luiz in but maybe he's carrying a knock or they have stats showing lowered energy or what have you.
Desperate for something here!
-
I struggle with Barkley and Traore starting.
Not confident.
Barkley also struggles with starting.
-
Assume it's Nakamba and McGinn sitting in the usual 4231 formation. Smith is tolerating a lot from Barkley, needs a big performance from him. Luiz can have no complaints.
-
Win please Villa. Doug needed a rest.
-
I struggle with Barkley and Traore starting.
Not confident.
Agreed, that's two players contributing very little without the ball. Smith has his favourites like any manager.
-
I'm glad Makamba's starting. Now to see how quickly Dean can react to events on the pitch. If Barkley and McGinn are sleepwalking again, he has to see it and make a change earlier than usual.
-
I don't mind Barkley staying in the side. He's an extra goal threat and Watkins does seem to score when he's on the pitch. No, he didn't play that well the other night but not many did.
-
I think the midfield two will be a lot more disciplined today in screening the defence. Dougie was awful Wednesday and I didn’t think against Southampton or Burnley he played well either.
-
Liked to have seen Morgan in for Barkley , Barkley was aboslute rubbish wednesday , maybe a few bollocking in there. Not sure about dougie being dropped , I think Arse are the kind of team he will play good against.
Anyway come on Villa . 3 pts please and the first game with concussion subs .
-
Can anyone help? I remember being at a match where there was a pre match or half time incident with people parachuting into the ground but it wasn't the one against Arsenal where the poor fella tragically hit the stand (as I didn't go to that match). Anyone got an idea? I can't remember if they just missed the ground or landed badly on the pitch? Pretty sure it was before 98 and the Dion 3-2 win game.
Apologies for the slight tangent I was speaking to an old friend who is an Arsenal fan and the incident/accident came up in the conversation.
-
It was half time during that game. Fella lost his leg.
-
Glad Nakamba is in. Would have preferred luiz kept in side further up the field instead of Barkley
-
This is my least favourite kickoff time, after Friday night, but that's not a real one IMO. So much potential for a weekend to be ruined before it's begun.
Surprised at Nakamba for Luiz, thought that Kenny for McGinn was the more obvious. Nakamba doesn't improve our control in midfield really, given his knack of giving the ball away. Maybe we're going to sit deeper, soak up, and play long to the wings on the break.
-
If it’s not working with Ross again, I’d bring Sansom on for him and move SJM into that role further forward.
-
I’m not surprised at only one change in the starting line-up.
There’s more chance of the Mandalorian taking his helmet off than Deano changing his first XI.
-

He's changed it twice in the last two games and made a sub at half time on Wednesday.
-

Yup, definitely
-

Cheers Ads. Yeah I'm confused as I wasn't at that match. Didn't we have a few games prior to that accident in 98 where people would parachute into the ground?
-
Barkley fortunate for me. What is it about loan players being almost undroppable? He needs to put in a real shift today to repay Dean's faith.
-
I wonder if we have an agreement with Chelsea that if Barkley is fit, he must play? Or a promise with Barkley.
-
Iirc
Captain Rogoff was the guy dressed as santa and he was last in carrying the match ball. A gust of wind blew him into the trinity stand and he really hit it hard. He then fell around 70ft onto the track pitchside narrowly missing the concrete wall by the tunnel. His injuries meant he did lose a leg but it coul of been so much worse.
I think he attended VP several times afterwards and in nice twist i think he married the nurse that looked after him.
Awful event but great game as we came from behind to beat them 3-2
-
Good line up although I’m not sure about Nakamba overall but let’s give it a go and see. I’m puzzled by the amount of criticism for Barkley Yes he was poor on Wednesday but then so were the rest. He wasn’t the worst in my opinion
-
Come on you Villa let's get them 3 points
-
I hate these Saturday lunchtime kick offs. Can shape an entire weekend!
-
Think it’s right to take Luiz out. No one played well Wednesday, but McGinn for all his average performance, had more energy than Luiz.
Traore has been good for me this season, but starts to fade on about 60 mins, so if that’s the case need to look to get Trez on earlier. Barclay is a bit of an enigma, highly talented, can and has give us a lot more threat from the middle, but hasnt really performed since being back from injury, another chance for him today. None of us know what Sanson can do yet, so might be a premature to throw him in.
-
Don't like the midfield setup much. Nakamba lets players skip past him too easily and he'll have a few of them today in his area.
Would've kept Luiz in and benched one of SJM/Barkley.
Really surprised Trez isn't playing either although guess he might not be fully 100% yet to start a match.
-
Not confident about this at all.
-
I hate these Saturday lunchtime kick offs. Can shape an entire weekend!
We don't tend to have that many. Think Wolves only other time this season and can hardly remember any last season especially at VP or even in the championship.
-
Christ, Jack seems to have sweaty pants.....
-
Nkamba is very good at nicking ball it's just his passing thats a bit reo coker. He has improved though No worries for me when he comes in.
-
Not confident about this at all.
Me neither. It looks like we'll try to defend like lions and catch them on the break. Hope I'm wrong.
-
Stan Petrov predicts 3-1 for Villa .
I'm worried about our midfield though. Marv and McGinn is a bit weak.
-
Yessssssssss
Didn't even load the stream up yet!
-
GTFI!
-
SccooorcchiiiioooOO!!!!!
-
Ollie Ollie Ollie
-
Get in!!! Brilliant from Traore.
-
We want 7 (at least)!
-
Brilliant from Bert in the build up.
-
Yeeeeeeesssssss Oliiiieeeeeeeeee!! Brilliant from Bertie
-
Fucking brilliant by Traore.
-
Excellent play by Traore there.
-
I take full credit for that. I popped to make a sandwich
I’ll give it 10 and make another.
-
Perfect start
-
Our defending of corners still isn't very good.
-
Traore was excellent for the goal. Why he was dropped v West Ham, god knows.
-
State of our pitch. Fucking Brexit. Who could have foreseen that?
-
Fuck me, I've only just sat down!
Great work from Bert.
-
Early days... It would make a change on recent events for Ollie to score and for us to win.
-
I've only just digested my pie!
-
Good tracking back there from Bertie.
-
Arsenal do carry a threat we need to be efficient here.
-
Barkely a yard off them when out of possession.
-
Apparently, Ollie is the first Villa player to score in three successive PL games since Darren Bent did a decade ago.
Some stats surprise me. That one doesn't.
-
Don't think Jack has touched the ball yet.
-
Barkley unnecessarily put Cash under pressure there, with a poor pass
-
We need a throw in coach.
-
Barkley a passenger so far.
-
Barkely a yard off them when out of possession.
He's been a yard off the pace in possession as well. We've started with good energy though.
-
Barkley a passenger so far.
Barkley le bouc-émissaire jusqu'ici. ;-)
-
We need a throw in coach.
Yes our throw ins have been poor for years
-
Too much long ball by us.
-
Good work from SJM, but needs to be better with his passing.
-
Barkley unnecessarily put Cash under pressure there, with a poor pass
same again, FFS! This time; on Jack
-
Our pitch seems to be wearing the effects of the recent weather. And number of games we’ve played.
-
Brilliant by Mings there
-
Barkley is rubbish. Everytime he gets the ball he does a couple of unnecessary touches and drag backs.
-
Barkley seems to be holding back a bit today. Not pressuring, not making the most of possession. Not overly sure if he adds too much into this team. He’ll score now I’ve said that
-
Sanson will be on at HT methinks
-
Barkley is rubbish. Everytime he gets the ball he does a couple of unnecessary touches and drag backs.
The traditional phrase is 'Luxury Player'
-
I think the energy machine has broken down if they don’t think Barkley needs a rest.
-
Good Emi - quick off the line there.
-
Berkely just offers nothing without the ball.
-
Barkley is rubbish. Everytime he gets the ball he does a couple of unnecessary touches and drag backs.
The traditional phrase is 'Luxury Player'
He's not even that at the moment.
-
whos says Terry dont care ....
-
Get Sanson Amour on at HT.
-
We do look light in Midfield. I would sub Barrkley at half time if he carries on like this
-
He’s got talent but as he said recently he’s had more games than training which is a problem and showing on the pitch. The manager is clearly trying to us both to get him up to full fitness but it’s a risk. The game seems to be passing him by today.
-
We are missing Dougie on the ball. I'd have Trez on for Barkley but it won't happen. Just too loose out of possession. Good energy from everybody else though.
-
Emi back to his best
-
Giving the ball back to them. We look like we are in a rush to get it out from the keeper, but that time everyone was back apart from Barkley
-
I know I'm in the minority but when I watch Barkley I see a quality player who helps to knit things together when we're on top. Bit of a luxury player when we're not but overall I think he's been massively important in our improvement this season.
-

All true, though Barkley has shown very tidy touches in advanced areas.
-
should be 2 0
-
Letting Arse have so much of the ball is dangerous. Like the velociraptors charging the fence, eventually they'll find weak spot and exploit it.
-
Welcome back Martinez !!!
-
Great save Emi.
-
Should be 2-0
-
Bert you have to score.
-
Emi's save looked so effortless, floating
-
Aaarrgh Bert you can't chip the keeper from there.
-
Fuck off Arteta.
-
Ref got it right - no way was it a red
-
How is that a foul by Ezri?!
-
Saka tripped Konsa there
-
Konsa hard done by there
-
brilliant turn by bertie but went for the wrong finish , if it worked would be talking about it for years but should have been a shot across the ground to the side of the goalie, but still Bertie always has this in his locker and does it so casually .
-
That's as much a foul on Konsa. He's the one about to play the ball.
-
Was it even a foul?
-
Konsa had a load of Saka's shirt to begin with.
-
Was it even a foul?
Clear shirt pull from Konsa before the tackle
McGinn anonymous again
-
Loving cash
-
Keown showing his colours for Arse
-
Poor spell from us at the moment, can't get near the ball.
-
Nakamba on a yellow worries me. Think I'd get Doug on as we need a bit more control in midfield.
-
Just no penetration from our midfield at all. Conversely, they seem to stroll through ours at will.
-
Midfield needs to be sharper.
-
Nakamba on a yellow worries me. Think I'd get Doug on as we need a bit more control in midfield.
Agree. And they will try and get him booked again too
-
Why is the pitch looking so bad this year?
-
Barkley off. AEG left. Grealish centre,. Job’s a good ‘un.
-
Great defending from Cash
-
Cash is our best player again.
-
Cash having a good game.
-
Why is the pitch looking so bad this year?
Cos we let the grass grow vs Liverpool
-
Arsenal are getting away with some many grapples, they're fouls.
-
Why is the pitch looking so bad this year?
Cos we let the grass grow vs Liverpool
Alright Graham?
-
Why is the pitch looking so bad this year?
Cos we let the grass grow vs Liverpool
Alright Graham?
Ha ha I didn’t agree with him the salty Scottish Scouser
-
never handball
-
Ball is coming straight back at us. Barkley is not holding it up
-
We aren't sharp enough in middle
-
The back of the shoulder is now handball?!? Confused.
-
Barkley off. AEG left. Grealish centre,. Job’s a good ‘un.
Definitely need Barkley off, we need more cover in midfield
-
They are well on top. Midfield is losing the battle here.
-
We need some possession. Can't allow Arsenal to dictate like this.
-
Sleep walking towards an equaliser here
-
Just no penetration from our midfield at all. Conversely, they seem to stroll through ours at will.
Our midfield two have been hopeless frankly
-
We are hanging on a bit here
-
Giving away so many free kicks will get us into trouble. Aside from the goal and the other really good chance Arsenal have been much the better side without really having too many clear cut chances.
-
thats a fucking foul
-
3rs foul on Grealish and should be in the book.
-
Awful performance here. Midfield being given the runaround
-
Definite foul on Jack but no point him arguing
-
Hanging on? They've created nothing.
-
I think Barkley has done ok.
-
Get Barkley off
Cash best player so far , actually think SJM has been ok .
Emi looking good .
step it up after HT , Morgan on for Barkley
-
Not sure how a two handed shove in the back isn’t a foul.
-
Just no penetration from our midfield at all. Conversely, they seem to stroll through ours at will.
Our midfield two have been hopeless frankly
think SJM has been fine, Nakamba and Barkley no where near the pace of the game. If Smith does not sort this, we know how this goes.
-
We need the midfield to compete more or we’ll be in trouble in the second half.
-
It's good that we're 1-0 up, but otherwise another disappointing performance. The midfield just isn't right and McGinn and Barkley are poor again.
-
https://youtu.be/KCXL-cyBkow
Here’s the goal for those who’ve not seen it
-
I’m not watching it so am reliant on this thread. However, what I do know is that Barkley needs to come off and stay on.
-
Don't think we've kept the ball well. Nakamba lacks quality and Barkley is anonymous. That said, we ought to be two up as we're the only side to create anything in a game of few chances.
Arsenal are very pretty in front of you, but they've created nothing. I don't accept the hanging on comments at all.
I'd bring Dougie on for Nakamba.
Grealish getting he usual total lack of protection with Bellerin fouling him with impunity. Arsenal appear to be allowed to climb all over us too.
Should be 2 up.
-

Yes. Nakamba started well but now looks a liability. Barkley's passing has been shocking and his lack of press-ability hinders the team.
I hope for - but don't think I'll see - a double substitution at half-time, with Luiz and Sanson or Ramsey coming on.
-
Barkley has been neat and tidy for the most part but the game is largely passing him by.
He has got to be more of a presence, needs to be much more assertive.
-
Hanging on? They've created nothing.
This is true, but the more they dominate the game, the more likely they'll somehow create something. I'd prefer us to stop more attacks in the middle of the park rather than letting them get so close to our box.
El ghazi <-> Ross, play him on the left and Jack in the middle?
-
I think nakamba doing ok but worry about his booking.
Obvious weak link is barclay but he did create our 2nd chance for Bert.
I would bring him off, trezon and jack into number 10 position
-
Can’t quite work out how we’re picking up cards for things they aren’t even getting called as fouls,
-
Most important thing is we scored first as we're good in that situation.
Average game and probably least amount of touches Jack has had in a game this season.
Bit worried by Arsenal getting through our midfield too easily, Nakamba just isn't good enough at watching play developing so think we need to sub smartly second half rather than just waiting until 80th minute as doubt it will be long before they throw on Aubameyang and Odegaard.
-

Yeah this is fair. We've taken one of our two good chances and deserve the lead. We're defending confidently, and have given them a lot of non-threatening possession.
Don't think we're hanging on at all. But would be good to see Luiz (or Jack into the middle) as a change to get us a little more ball in the second half.
Think there's definitely a second goal on the break for us here - Traore seems to have the beating of their defenders, Gabriel in particular.
-
Grealish needs to come more central or over to the right
We look v flat
Bring the new man on. We need some fresh impetus
They look dangerous
-
Ref has made some strange decisions, the nakamba booking was totally unnecessary, the handball against Traore was completely wrong and he seems to think pushes in the back are completely fair game.
-
Sanson d'amour (ra da da da da)
Play encore
In Villa Park (ra da da da da)
Scores and more
Sanson d'amour (ra da da da da)
Je t'adore
Each time you score (ra da da da da)
Sanson, Sanson d'amour
-
Arsenal are very pretty in front of you, but they've created nothing. I don't accept the hanging on comments at all.
Arsenal were building a lot of pressure on us, either in open play or from free kicks, and they have goalscorers in their team.
I think we need to be more assertive, and that starts with not giving the frigging ball away every time we have it.
-
Ref has made some strange decisions, the nakamba booking was totally unnecessary, the handball against Traore was completely wrong and he seems to think pushes in the back are completely fair game.
Marvellous lost the ball in the first place. He takes too long to control the ball
-
Great to be 1-0 up but Barkley needs subbing now. Ok when he has the ball but he doesn't have it enough. Useless when off the ball. No tackling, pressing or interceptions. You don't win the ball by running parallel to the player with the ball or standing idly on the edge of the "D"
Jack almost anonymous. Traore doing more on the right flank.
The arses are a bunch of cheating, whinging cnuts who appear to have the ear of a weak ref.
-
Never normally come on here during the match, now I know why!! The idea that we’re hanging on in that first half is laughable. I think we haven’t been great and need to play with far more tempo. Barclay has tried hard to find space and create, but him and jack need to work on their combination play like earlier in the season.
Arsenal have had a lot of the ball but have mostly been shite. I suppose they can’t be any worse so we do need to step it up 2nd half.
-
Ref has made some strange decisions, the nakamba booking was totally unnecessary, the handball against Traore was completely wrong and he seems to think pushes in the back are completely fair game.
Marvellous lost the ball in the first place. He takes too long to control the ball
Doesn't mean it was a yellow card though.
-
So so first half. Nothing more to report.
-
We are being overrun in midfield.
I’d bring on Dougie for Barkley and shore up that gaping hole in the middle.
-
Like to see Jack switch flanks sometimes.Bit too telegraphed on the left
-
We've not been able to escape their press very much, and are seriously lacking Doug's calm judgement and technique in deep midfield, but Arsenal really haven't done much and we should be 2-0 up no doubts.
One point - does Cash have any assists this season? His crosses always look like they should be threatening but they never seem to actually threaten.

He takes his ankle. In this day and age it’s often a yellow
-
Is Barkley playing?
-

All I see him doing is passing the ball back towards our keeper.
-
Barkley has been neat and tidy for the most part but the game is largely passing him by.
He has got to be more of a presence, needs to be much more assertive.
I'm a big fan of Barkley but this is a fair assessment.
-
I think we've done okay. Need to create better balls through to Ollie and Jack needs to stop marking himself out the game by coming inside a bit more. Fantastic save from Martinez but other than that he really hasn't been that troubled. More than anything we need to stay focused, we started well and are making it difficult for Arsenal but need to get a second. Traore has had a good half by his standards, Matty takes no prisoners and the defence look pretty solid overall. Fresh legs in the midfield would help.
-
It looked worse at full speed. Plus Saka screaming the whole stadium down.
He's a good player but this is about a tenth of the treatment Jack gets most games if he think we're targeting him.
-

At last common sense once again Barkley is the blame for all things I think he’s done ok and Arsenal have had 1 shot and that from a free kick
-
Jack needs to move to the centre, not had much of an impact so far.
-
Nakamba needs to be subbed. Him on a yellow in that position is too much of a liability.
-

Nowhere near his ankle, tiny contact on his foot when he's already going over, I've seen Jack get caught like that 20 or 30 times this season and it be just a foul. Ref gave it because of the scream and nothing more.
-

I'm sitting on your sofa. We've been alright against a side with a couple of decent players that's on a good run since Christmas.
-
Barkely can't press and they've had the run on our midfield too easily because of it.
I'd have had Trez for Barkley, switch Jack to 10 get him more involved and give Arsenal a lot more to think about with him in midfield. Also the Nakamba yellow and our lack of quality in keeping the ball worries me, so I'd have Dougie on.
-

No they weren't, we were absolutely shite.
-
I think the scream was definitely what got Nakamba booked. It was Sharapova-esque
-
Can’t keep hold of the ball and when we do get it we give it away. We are playing a dangerous game. Jack seems glued to the touch line. I’m not sure we look any better than we did against WestHam.
Our midfield is being bypassed. Having said that Arsenal haven’t really created much but they look like they could be dangerous with the freedom they have at the moment.
-

Thats my feeling as well.
-
Come on now Emi. Let’s get another clean sheet
-
Come on now Emi. Let’s get another clean sheet
What a save that was first half. Like Bosnich at his best.
-
Arsenal are going down everytime there's a physical challenge, screaming at the ref for a foul.
No real arguments over Nakamba's yellow, but Konsa's was soft. The ref seems oblivious to the treatment Jack's getting.
Barkley - slow of thought and ponderous in movement - is he really fully fit?
-

You could always go somewhere else.
You’re not forced to read all this.
But then if you did, how could you assert your superiority?
-
Barkley better
-
great corner crap finish
-
Better from Barkley then.
-
That was better from Barkley.
-
Anyone moaning about the comments during a match thread really does need to step back and think about how seriously they are taking things.
-
Really nice corner, shame Barkley scuffed the shot.
-
Never normally come on here during the match, now I know why!! The idea that we’re hanging on in that first half is laughable. I think we haven’t been great and need to play with far more tempo. Barclay has tried hard to find space and create, but him and jack need to work on their combination play like earlier in the season.

I'm giving my opinion mate on a forum. Feel free to take your own advice though.
-
started well
-
Barkley has livened up a lot. We need this second.
-
Opinions on the game = good
Opinions on other posters = bad
-
Much better this half so far, looking dangerous.
-
Fucking hell Barkley you useless twat!
-
Blimey Ross. Should have done better there. Nice break though
-
FFS Barkley, couldn't hit a cow's arse with a banjo.
-
I think Bark sometimes overdoes things but he’s always looking to get something done.
-
Fuck me. Pepe close
-
Jack should've played in Ollie there, Barkley never convinces finishing off counters.
-
Come on Villa get the second.
-
Phew. Too close for Arsenal.
-
McGinn is running on empty. Already.....
-

-
@Edvard Remberg how much does Berkeley trouser for twatting it into the upper Holte?
-
That was too easy.
-
Bloody hell!
-
What a player Cash is, brilliant.
-
We are pressing higher up the pitch and so Barkley is getting more of the ball
-
Nice shot for SJM. Good save
-

“I have lived a great deal among grown-ups. I have seen them intimately, close at hand. And that hasn’t much improved my opinion of them”
-
went through them easy then but for mings
-
Great block Mings from Smith Rowe
-
Partay yellow was another silly one. Those sort of decisions make it obvious that the refs have never played themselves.
-
Well done Mings, great stop.
-
No-one running off the ball for Ollie then -- tiredness?
-
Jack has been good on the break but just hasn’t been able to impose himself at all in the game
-
Well done Mings, great stop.
Yes.
-
Game has opened up but I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing!
-
Arsenal have some fucking dangerous players despite their start to the season.
-

Thats true point taken 👏👏
-
Come on Villa. Another Southampton effort is required.
-
They are getting through us too easily. Super block by Targett
-
Well covered Targett.
-
Would get Trez on now.
-
Nakamba watching the ball all the time, he needs to look around him occasionally.
-
Palms are sweating now.... ass is soaked .. come on Villa
-
Good save Emi but Bellerophon should never have that much time on edge of the box.
-
Arsenal certainly are a better side than the one we played earlier in the season
-
We are too fucking open. They are strolling through our midfield time after time.
Dean has got to change this before the inevitable happens.
-
Lacazette off for Aubameyang
-
Aubameyang coming on. Not a bad sub to be able to make.
-
Palms are sweating now.... ass is soaked .. come on Villa
Eeeeeuuuuggghhh. Tmi mate
-
We're going to concede here if we don't change things about a bit. We will need 2.
-

Eeeeeuuuuggghhh. Tmi mate
Think about what he didn’t tell you.
-
Time to freshen things up Smith.
-
Time to freshen things up Smith.
Give it another half an hour, and he'll spring into action!
-
Usual shit service up to Ollie.
-
Need to make a change we’re flagging. It’s too easy for Arsenal to play through us.
-
we've dropped off a bit. need to get hold of it and push them back
-
There is no doubt a great counter attack is brilliant to watch. But fuck me playing that way as an established tactic does nothing for the ticker. Not a fan at all.
-
Trez warming up.
-
need a sub now
-
I'd get Barkley off, Trez on, and Jack more central.
-
Trez warming up.
who far? hopefully not Bertie
-
I think we need to freshen things up a bit. A bit like JPs soaked ass needs that too.
-
Trez warming up.
who far? hopefully not Bertie
Yep
-
Very brave Emi.
-
Do they still use the magic sponge? Still remember Tony Daley getting a sponge in the face and magically recovering from a kick in the bollocks.
-
Ffs Traore should not be coming off
-
I think we need to freshen things up a bit. A bit like JPs soaked ass needs that too.
dont worry , wet wipees have come out.
didnt thin Bertie was that bad ..Needed a fresh midfielder
-
Argh! Would a kind soul please pm me? I've lost my you know what.
-
Bert off for Trez. Not the change I would have made.
-
Top performance from Bertie. Come on now Trez get us a goal
-
Do they still use the magic sponge? Still remember Tony Daley getting a sponge in the face and magically recovering from a kick in the bollocks.
The mantle of the magic sponge has been taken up by primary schools in the the form of a wet paper towel. It cures all known ailments.
-
Trez may give Cash a bit more cover than Traore with Arsenal loading their left.
-
Why do some players were fucking gloves? It's so absurd.
-
Bert off for Trez. Not the change I would have made.
Nor me. Jack's not got much change out of Arsenal on the left so I'd have taken Barkley off and moved him central.
-
This is too easy for them. If we don’t get more control they’ll score.
-
Why do some players were fucking gloves? It's so absurd.
Helps Emi catch the ball! ;)
-
We are playing with fire here. They are going to score if we don’t sharpen up.
-
FFS Villa, get a foot in and hold the ball
-
I’m beginning to think Jack could do with a rest
-
Why do some players were fucking gloves? It's so absurd.
Helps Emi catch the ball! ;)
Ha!
-
Got to get Grealish on the ball bring us up the pitch
-
I’d take Marvellous off (who’s on a yellow anyway) and give the new lad a run out.
-
Nakamba and Barkley off for me.
-
Why do some players were fucking gloves? It's so absurd.
Helps Emi catch the ball! ;)
Ha!
As soon as I hit the 'post' button :D
-
I think Luiz needs to come on for Nakamba or John McGinn.
-
Dean get the midfield sorted out. We’re not retaining the fucking ball.
-

From what I remember from my playing days it's not the sponge that did the trick it was the threat of it being used that got us on our feet on a freezing cold day
-
We're so sloppy in possession at the moment.
-
Barley needs to come off. 10 minutes ago
-
We are going to lose this.
-
Fucking lucky there Matt!
-
Again I’m following the match via this thread and so far everyone needs to come off apart from Jack and Emi.
-
Well done Targett (again).
-
Totally lost the midfield
-
Again I’m following the match via this thread and so far everyone needs to come off apart from Jack and Emi.
Who has suggested taking Cash, Targett, Mings, Konsa or Watkins off?
-
Giving the ball away too often. Slow it down Villa !!
-
Bert off for Trez. Not the change I would have made.
Nor me. Jack's not got much change out of Arsenal on the left so I'd have taken Barkley off and moved him central.
I forgot Jack was playing.
-
I’m making it up Sir.
-
Barley needs to come off. 10 minutes ago
Barley? That's a new variation.
-
Smith needs to start using the squad more cause this lot look absolutely shagged!
-
Make some fucking changes Smith
-
cant keep the ball now.. Need Dougie on
-
Smith is sooooooo slow to react, he does very little to make changes to affect games.
-
We’re going to concede here. Need to firm it up in midfield urgently
-
Matter of time before they score if we don;t shore up the midfield. Luiz has to come surely?
-
Get Nakamba and Barkley off ASAP. Dougie and Sansom/Ramsey with two 8s to press. So much fucking room.
-
This feels like Southampton all over again.
-
If we don't change things now we will lose this game.
-
Dean FFS do something to arrest the momentum.
-
This feels like Southampton all over again.
The game we won or the game we lost?
-
Good strong play by Mings
-
Game needs a Villa goal.
-
come on dean ..Morgan and Dougie now for BArkley and Naker
-
If we don't change things now we will lose this game.
They've had loads of chances and the majority of possession this half. Our one sub so far hasn't changed the balance of the game one bit.
-
Ramsey coming on.
-
We have no midfield.
-
Ramsey coming on.
-
Ross off.
-
Barkley dont look happy but you was very average son
-
Need Doug on (for Barkley). Arsenal got about six attacking players on and no proper CMs so need to close things out.
-
Ross kicked a water bottle there.
-
Not sure why Barkley is ipset at being subbed, he's been strolling around doing nothing for 15minutes.
-
Fucking hell we need to get hold of the ball here. They've gone so attacking with their subs a bit of pressure on them could bring us a goal.
-
Pretty naff again. You'll keep kicking bottles if you don't buck up.
-
Stop being shit then Ross, simple really. Twat.
-
FFS how did Jack not score?
-
Unlucky Jack, great hit.
-
fuck and the ball didnt fall for the 3 players for the tap in
-
Unprofessional little strop by Barkley there.
-
Not sure why Barkley is ipset at being subbed, he's been strolling around doing nothing for the last 5 games
Fixed.
-
Mings doing a Macca at moment
-
Tyrone plays like a second keeper with all the blocks in front of Martinez.
-
fuck and the ball didnt fall for the 3 players for the tap in
I know!! Painful!
-
How did that rebound not fall to one of our players there?
Would've been the game wrapped up.
-
Cash and Mings are putting in a right shift.
-
Ross kicked a water bottle there.
Best thing hes connected with
-
Face like a smacked arse Ross!
-
Dean’s face to Ross after the water bottle kicking was brilliant.
-
Barkley bang out of order. He didn't do enough... Again.
-
Oooooooh!!
-
FFS fucking put one in.
-
could have been 5 for us even thou they have lots of possession
-
Barkley bang out of order. He didn't do enough... Again.
Quite like the fact he cares though
-
We've had by far and away the better chances.
-
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaagh!
-
Same story in most of our games We just don't score enough of the chances we make.
-
Unlucky Ollie.
-
Argh wish that fucking second would go in.
-
A second goal would be lovely right now.
-
MOTM performance from Ollie again...or Mings.
-
MOTM performance from Ollie again.
He's been really good, but either Cash or Mings MOTM for me.
-
Ollie Watkins has been brilliant today. 10/10 as a lone striker
-
Mings gets my vote so far
-
Yeah all 3 have been excellent as has Targett and Konsa.
-
should have passed to Trez son
-
Mings given MOTM. Overall I think I agree, he's been brilliant.
-
Tyrone takes MOTM.
-
Nice feet Ramsey.
-
Mings gets my vote so far
Can't argue that. Martinez not far behind
-
Ollie does play the lone striker role really well. With a season of PL experience under his belt I reckon we'll have a 25+ goal a season player.
-
5 mins WTF where from
-
37.5 minutes of injury time no doubt.
-
How long left?
-
Nice feet Ramsey.
He is going to be some player
-
Nice feet Ramsey.
I bet he hasn’t got shoes as nice as yours though.
-
Nice feet Ramsey.
I bet he hasn’t got shoes as nice as yours though.
LOL
-
Nice feet Ramsey.
I bet he hasn’t got shoes as nice as yours though.
Better than Dr Tony's though.
-
make a sub dean. waste time
-
Make a sub Smith, wind down the clock a bit.
-
I'm not sure where the officials have have found five minutes added time from.
-
Make a sub Smith, wind down the clock a bit.
What is this witchcraft of which you speak?
-
Cash is excellence and hard work personified.
-
Cash is excellent. Bargain buy.
-
Ollie does play the lone striker role really well. With a season of PL experience under his belt I reckon we'll have a 25+ goal a season player.
He's not clinical enough to ever reach those numbers.
-
Mings given MOTM. Overall I think I agree, he's been brilliant.
Hard to call a MOTM after such a solid ream performance. Possibly Targett for me.
-
Mings you beautiful man.
-
Ollie does play the lone striker role really well. With a season of PL experience under his belt I reckon we'll have a 25+ goal a season player.
He's not clinical enough to ever reach those numbers.
Could say the same about Vardy at the start of his PL career. Time will tell.
-
yessssssssssssssss
-
What the fuck was that for? It was a fucking could on Jack.
-
Get in boys
-
Nice feet Ramsey.
If that is a suggestion for a nickname I am not sure it will catch on ;)
-
When last time we did the double over them?
-
Yessssssssss!!!!
-
Get in.
-
We've got your number Arsenal.
-
When last time we did the double over them?
Think it was something like 92.
-
When last time we did the double over them?
91/92
-
How did we win that?
-
17 games to play. Same points as we finished with last season. Says it all
-
GTFI!!!
-
When last time we did the double over them?
91/92
92/93.
-
Relatively comfortable in the end. Would have liked a second to calm the nerves.
Strange season - one point from four games against West Ham and Burnley; the double over Arsenal.
-
MOTM?
The defence. Brilliant today. Echoes of "they shall not pass" Paul McGrath
