Really positive piece Dave, as it should be I guess. Watching England tonight makes me realise how far we have come under Dean Smith. Jack getting the ball over on the left and Sako just standing there wondering what he should do next. Whereas, Targett or now, Ross Barkley, will be there, moving nicely to look for a quick one-two. This is on Southgate to coach this into them as Villa now seem to do it naturally. We look a decent side with McGinn getting back to where we know his level will be and defensively, Mings and Konsa look really good. Having watched Kieran Trippier tonight, I also think we have an absolute steal in Matty Cash. By far a better player.

Great read, great week.
What exciting times.

Good point about the late start to the season benefitting us. I thought an extra week’s preparation had helped us, but hadn’t thought of the implication of avoiding a likely battering by Man City.
