Excuse the intrusion folks but I, like many Evertonians, believe that the EPL needs Aston Villa in it. A proper club with proper supporters. A heartfelt ‘best of wishes and good luck’ to you folks for Sunday’s game...go and slap Moyes and his chirpy, cockney eel-chewers...
-
Thanks. I imagine a lot of Villa fans feel much the same about Everton - a proper club.
Hope you can do your bit against Bournemouth on Sunday just in case we need it.
Cheers.
-
Thanks mate just ensure you dont lose to Bournemouth too.
-
Cheers mate and good luck for Sunday, just in case!
-
You better bloody turn up on Sunday.
Kind words about us from an Evertonian. Unusual, in my experience.
-
Just don’t give Bournemouth anything pal.
But cheers, I always see Villa and Everton as being similar in many ways. Certainly both proper clubs, that’s for sure.
-
Cheers mate, really hope you stay at Goodison, traditional football ground and atmosphere.
-
They’re definitely moving, last time I spoke to Kevin Sheedy anyroad.
-
New design doesn’t look as soulless as the Emirates or Tottingham etc. And better location as well.
But still not right.
They’re landlocked at the current location, so I sympathise. But would prefer to see them remain.
-
I've never liked Everton or their fans, never liked the atmosphere there and I certainly wouldn't miss them as long as we are we are still in the premier and they got relegated next season. They're ain't a proper club anything like us
Cheers mate, you are right we are a proper club. Good luck against Bournemouth.
-
The move will be interesting but not so fragrant...there’s a sewage treatment plant right next door so make sure you eat BEFORE you enter.
I’m always pleased to see southern clubs relegated and midlands/northern clubs promoted...I mean, come on...Bournemouth, Watford, Brighton, Norwich in the top flight? Not for me I’m afraid, not when there are some big & properclubs languishing in the Championship. My auld fella always told me about the size of Villa as a club/fanbase and, as usual, he was quite right. I hope Everton leather Bournemouth and I’m sure I’ll see you all next season...all the best now..

I had a look at one of their forums the other week and there were plenty there with kind words to say about us. Their neighbours on the other hand don't seem to like us. Pretty obsessed. Can't think why, we all wished Slippy Gee a happy birthday last time he played against us. Not many other fans did that.
-
Many thanks Blue. We are hoping your lot do us a favour please. Best wishes for next season too.

Hahaha! Scouse humour? Picked up from Mortimer, Withe, Swain, Gidman, Warnock, McCann...or...Ron Saunders (Birkenhead-lad and a distant relative)

Many thanks for that. Everton and Villa are two proper clubs, the most played fixture in the top flight. Long may it continue!
-
Cheers EB. Best of luck in future (apart from any game against us!). Personally I wish Everton no ill will, unlike your red counterparts down the road. Do us a favour on Sunday please.
-
That’s a weird one. Most Redscouse I have met have usually been complimentary about the Villa (albeit in a mildly condescending way) whereas the Bluescouse had a vague whiff of the Bordesley mentality about them.
Maybe the Downing and Benteke sale of the century rip offs and the cup semi final defeat did for our Redscouse high regard.
Absolutely gutted.
-
Experience is subjective I suppose. I've been insulted and condescended to by plenty of Redscouse for my Villa support, whereas I've never once had an issue with an Evertonian. Always respectful of our legacy and they understand what it's like to have long fallow periods without any of the bullshit "30 years of hurt" Liverpool fallacy.
-
Nice one EB - if you live around this way I will treat you to a pint in the Freshie - cheers VCTM
Most of my buddies on Merseyside are Evertonians and have similar views to your own about the Villa
Another good friend, who lost his brother at Hillsborough, sent me a text late last night congratulating us on our victory over Arsenal and wished us well for Sunday.
-
Cheers mate. I don't hate Everton, which is as effusive as my praise for any other club gets. Good luck to you.

My junior school headmaster was an Evertonian. His name was Mr Lambert and he reckoned one of his former pupils went on to write stories for Roy Of The Rovers comic. He also reckoned in one comic strip his former pupil had named a character Mr Lambert. If you were playing up Mr Lambert was prone to call you "a potterb". A phrase I have never heard anyone else use (apart from me and H&V's Nev who were both taught by him).
-
Thanks EB.Very nice of you to say. I think over the years we Villa think we probably have more in common with you than prob any other club.
My first ever away game when I was stopping with my Evertonian cousin in Formby.
We lost 5-0 😂
Hope you smash Bournemouth Sunday.
Bizzarely, I’ll be in Bournemouth !!
-
Cheers EB, Agree two proper clubs. One of my favourite away fixtures, not sure if it will continue with the new stadium tho. Hope you make our Sunday afternoon b beating Bournemouth handsomely
-
Where 'hate' is concerned there's usually a big difference between online and normal people. Most proper supporters of both clubs have been fine in my experience, and if it wasn't for us Everton wouldn't exist. Ask me for further details.
-
In my experience Everton fans are almost perfectly 50/50 when it comes to Villa. Half of them hate us nearly as much as they hate Liverpool and the other half see as a sort of kindred spirit. As with any club with fans that really hate us that aren't from Birmingham I've never really understood it (Except Newcastle, I get why they have a problem with us, but it was worth it).
-
Thanks mate. Let’s keep the longest running top flight fixture Villa v Everton going.
-

Distant relative of the great man Saunders ? Then we roll out the red , sorry blue, carpet for you

Can I have details please?
-
I went off Everton a few years back when they seemed to become quite bitter towards us. Although it’s nice to hear that many of them appreciate just how similar the two clubs are.
-
Cheers lad.
Let's how big Richardson bangs in 5 at the weekend
-
Cheers. Hope your lot can assist by beating Bournemouth.
-
Thanks EB. Used to live up in Liverpool, and still good friends with several Evertonians. One of my favourite games was going to Widnes to see Everton reserves Vs Villa reserves - Ross Barkley was playing for your lot along with some new signing whose name escapes me. Anyway, proper good times with your lot in the bar after :D
Best of luck best season against everyone except us. Genuinely fond of your lot
-
Thanks EB, much appreciated. Always thought of Everton as a proper club like us. Please beat Bournemouth just in case we need that.
All the best.
-
I always have and always will want Everton to beat the red shite, so thanks for the kind words
-
Thanks EB. Don’t mind Everton, like us one of the old traditional clubs. Used to share a house at uni with an Evertonian from Birkenhead back in the 90s, sound lad, one of my favourite ever away games was when we beat you in the QF of the cup in Feb 2000, always liked Kevin sheedy and of course there’s the Andy Gray link. Smash Bournemouth for us on Sunday please.

When the original ten clubs met to discuss the formation of the Football League, nine of them wanted Bootle but William McGregor held that Everton had greater potential. McGregor being McGregor, he got his way by an overwhelming minority and the rest is 'istory.

If he'd let Bootle in would we have had the Everton/Liverpool split over Anfield in 1892 and the founding of the Red Scouse? Football history could have been very different indeed.

Cheers Clive.

Should have let Bootle in instead of West Brom.
-
Thanks Blue. That means a lot. Best football mate I ever had was an Evertonian. Lost his eyesight in old age but still went to all the Goodison games. A Prince of the terraces.

Top man! Everton are a proper proper football club with quality support. Our last game of the season in 1990 at Goodison was a legendary day.

That might have come across as badly phrased. I meant it positively.

Just to nit-pick a little - Norwich is farther north than Brum.

edit - didn't spot there was another page. Good story.

I think the most pissed I have ever been at a game was Everton, we were drinking with my missus’ landlord who ran Everton former players association, after town we were in a little pub behind the main stand and I recall a long chat with a lovely bloke who had played for Villa, Everton and Liverpool, who’s name escapes me. Also introduced to a fella who had ran on the pitch in the Cup Final and who’s jacket had been pulled off by a persuing copper.
Can’t remember anything about the game at all
Also scene of my favourite away game, SGTs last.

The guy at Wembley was called Eddie Kavanagh.
-
Such a shame Bootle did not make it. How cool would have been to go on an away day and say you were off on a Tootle to Bootle. Positively Johnsonian use of the English language.
-
Remember wearing my 94 home shirt to Glastonbury a few years ago and bumped into a lad in an Everton bucket hat who stopped me for a good chat about how both teams were sleeping giants and proper football clubs. Always liked Everton tbh. (As an aside had so many people coming up to me shaking my hand and saying they loved that strip. This was before the Mundial footy shirt fetish era we're in now as well.) The only person to give me some stick was a Baggies fan who was, as you'd expect, a c*nt.
Anyway, cheers!
-
Dave Hickson. It came back to me. If anyone is interested. No?
-
Cheers mate hope you thrash Bournemouth on Sunday.
-
Dave Hickson. It came back to me. If anyone is interested. No?
I met Dave a few times - a true gentleman
-
Certainly had loads of great visits to Goodison, but the 3-3 under SGT is right up there with my all time favourites from any away day!
-
Cheers EB, it’s always been one of my favourite fixtures our games between each other. Good luck at the weekend, hopefully we’ll do our bit by ourselves and not have to rely on results elsewhere though.
-
What’s that little boozer called on the other side of the road half way down their (I think) main stand?
-

Yep.
-
I used to spend a fair bit of time in Liverpool and never met an Everton fan who gave two shits about us.
-

The Winslow...👍
-
The beauty of Villa vs Everton is that I always feel both clubs think they are evenly matched and bar the odd bad year for either club they are. Means we will go to Goodison and have a go and likewise they always give it a go at VP, Generally makes for a really entertaining fixture
-
some of my fave games have been tis fixture. The one when Ormadroyd played like Ronaldo and the Ashley young winner . both very similar clubs and Everton dont bother me at all.
Thanks for the wishes .. We will be playing you next season .
-
Whilst we’re on the subject of Everton, I watched that Howard’s Way documentary recently and really enjoyed it. It’s all about the mid 80s era. That was some team they had then and there’s plenty of Villa links too; Gray, Mountfield, Heath, Richardson. Great soundtrack too!
-
That Everton team would have won lots more in Europe had it not been for the ban, that was a great side.
-
I used to spend a fair bit of time in Liverpool and never met an Everton fan who gave two shits about us.
Maybe that's because their anti scouseometer sensed some trace of animosity towards all things Scouse.....there I go again defending Liverpool ...how dare I
Only kidding buddy :)

-
One thing they have up there is civic pride.
Every bastard taxi driver I bumped into when I was up there for the 2-2 draw in 2008 was going on about the European City of Culture award.
True, they were only up against Chernobyl and Coventry that year. But fair play.
-
Not at all sure I understand
-
My bad - maybe confusing you with someone else
No offence intended - I was heavily castigated some while ago for my "pro Liverpool views "
Just for the records I have worked/ lived on Merseyside for 31 years and in all that time I've only met a handful of fans who have bad mouthed the Villa - the majority respect our history and heritage
-
What’s that little boozer called on the other side of the road half way down their (I think) main stand?
The Winslow...👍
Thank you, I’ve had a couple of good days in there.
-
Everton, do your stuff, a club steeped in history as Villa are, precisely what the Premiership needs, give us a leg up please.
-

Was this the place where you could have done your weekly shopping whilst sitting at the bar having a few pints?

That was the one we were in in the town before moving to the ground

Out walking the dog this morning and this afternoon and got talking with other footy fans- 2 Evertonian and 3 Reds
Without exception they all genuinely said they want Villa to stay up.Come on Villa - don't let us down

A good friend who’s a ST holder at Anfield keeps saying how much he wants us to stay up and that his group of mates all feel the same without question.
It’s not all hate for us out there!

Of course it's not , but some people's animosity towards other UK cities and fans of other clubs clouds their judgement somewhat - different strokes for different folks

No he is an extremely dippy Bearded Collie named after one of my musical heroes - Marley
One love ....
And all that :)

Back in the day I used to post occasionally on an Everton forum called "When Skies are Grey" which was pretty good for general and football chat. No longer exists but I did come across this during the week by an Evertonian whose Kopite "friend" suggested he'd be pleased for Liverpool to reach 96 points.
Like?! There is *nothing* I like about your odious, self-important, history-rewriting, racist-supporting, piss-stained, cheating, media wankfest of a club winning so much as a throw-in! The only good thing about the current situation is that as you apparently have more fans than anyone else, then just by the law of averages it means that more than a fair share of the moaning, self-entitled, pot-hunting, wall-pushing Gobshites will die of Covid, hopefully including the classless grinning chimp of a manager, the senile, incoherent, piss-smelling tramp apparently awarding the trophy tonight, and the living epitome of everything that's putrid about your club, John fucking Aldridge.
So no, you can stick your 96 points up your unbearable insufferable gloating arses, and while you're at it, shove up another 39 for the poor fuckers that you murdered and then spent decades desperately trying to brush under the carpet until you were shamed into acknowledging them.
c***s to a man, the whole rancid lot.
Not as erudite as Dave W's Stripey rant but just as much feeling.
-
I get the impression he does not like Liverpool.
-
Thats why Liverpool fans call them Bitter Blues
-

There are Small Heath that would say something similar about us, if they could string as many words together.
-
That bloke's an arse.

Someone said earlier that online and real life do see different. A couple of examples
'Proper' fans still have a lot of time and respect for us, your overseas and plastics, probably not as Sky haven't told them to.
Back in 2016 before the Everton game I was stood outside Tesco waiting for RedSox and 4 or 5 typical scallies walked up to me, late teens early 20s, standard outfit of trackies etc and must admit I thought "oh shit, here we go, i'm getting too old for this." Instead they wanted to know if I thought we could still stay up and really hoped we would as we're a 'proper' club, VP is great etc. Nothing but respect for us as a club and seemed genuinely saddened at the state we were in.
I've also said I used that Rivals site back in the day and the Everton page was probably the busiest on there. They seemed to hate us with a passion, even coming on the Villa page to gloat when it was obvious the Laursen injury was bad.
-
I work with 10 Everton lads in my office up here and they are top lads who want us to stop up
There are a similar amount who support Liverpool and are ok until they remind me that Grealish needs to join a big club.
I know the set of supporters who I prefer.

I tend to agree :)

There is one particular glory-hunting Liverpool fan on my FB timeline who in real life is as nice a person as you could wish to meet. He was born and bred a Villa fan until his teenage years then fell out with his Dad and started supporting Liverpool instead in order to spite him. A few years ago he got a ST for the Villa as well as a shirt with his name on the back, supposedly so he could see Liverpool play. He has been completely unbearable this season with regards to Liverpool's achievement and now, for many bizarre reasons, wants us to be relegated. The list is endless. I asked him a question regarding the Heysel Stadium disaster when he was pontificating about the chances of us challenging for Europe next season if we stayed up. He soon shut up.

Good to have an Everton fan on here so don't want to upset them too much but they were a disgrace today, Bournemouth had 70% possession in first half.
It was a good job they had that good run under Big Dunc and then first month of Ancelotti as their form for other 7 months was pretty much bottom 3.
They have spent a fortune in last three years, simply something wrong with the mentality of the players they get in. Delph must've played about 5 times all season.
-
I can see Howe going there and them firing Ancelotti. He must be on some serious money and seems just a busted flush this late into his career.

Ancelotti with his reputation will last longer than some of their other managers. If they sack him I'm not sure who'd they turn to, he's really their last throw of the dice given his reputation in the game.
What they've signed since 2017:

Tony Morely 1980/81 season.I Stood on the half way line with the Everton fans. Villa fans were to the right of me behind the goal. I had to get a ticket through a friend.
That was goal of the season, I jumped up and down. The Evertonians around me shook my hand (i was only16) and said we would win the leauge with our line up.
How right they were and how gracious they were.
Got a lot of time for Scousers of both colours but the blues are my favourites.
-
First text congratulating me on the Villa staying up was from my mate here in Formby, who's brother died at Hillsborough - fair play to him

Agreed. I have a soppy, old-fashioned view of magnanimity in sport. I even sent a message congratulating my SHA mate when they won the League Cup.
-
well, I sent my brother in law a congratulatory text straight after WBA went up and have predictably received nothing in return.

Didn't Everton go about 3 years without spending money on a player, too? I seem to recall something like that.

Quick maths and I make that £395.5m.
I'd say when you factor in wages, you're looking at near enough half a billion pounds.
All for a 12th place finish in the Premier League.
Unbelievable.
-
It's a weird and wacky world where Gylfi Sigurdsson is worth £45 million English pounds. Alex Iwobi at £35 million looks an absolute steal as well.
-
That was the one we were in in the town before moving to the ground
You could do a weekly shop and a whole new wardrobe in two hours whilst sat in the bar of the Adelphi Hotel.
This was the Beehive in the centre, it was quite hard to have a drink given the continous interuptions from shoplifters selling their latest wares. I can only remember one thing, some lamb chops with an electronic security tag still attached.

Absolutely correct on here...Everton were shite yesterday and need a clearout I’m sorry to say...too many players going through the motions.
I’m getting off now but all the best for next season lads, I’m chuffed that you stayed up...onwards and upwards...✌🏿

Thanks mate, best of luck to you too.

There used to be a pub in town where the doorman also worked security at one of our less salubrious hotels. One of the bedrooms doubled as a clearing house for anything that might have escaped from the shops.

I have 2 fans on my FB noth from when I lived in East Mids. One is Huyton born and offered him congratulations on the title win. He was barely into double figures the last time they won the league.
The other is Mansfield born and bred. He gets ignored.

Bolaise- 25m
Morgan Schnderlein- 20m
Davy Klassen- 23m
Pickford- 25m
Henry Onyekuru- 7M
Michael Keane- 25m
Siguardsson- 45m
Nikola Vlasvic- 10m
Cenk Tosun- 27m
Theo Walcott- 20m
Richarlison- 40m
Lucas Digne- 18m
Yerry Mina- 27m
Jean Gbamin- 25m
Moise Kean- 24.5m
Alex Iwobi- 34m
Jesus Christ, are those figures real? Abysmal if true.
Didn't Everton go about 3 years without spending money on a player, too? I seem to recall something like that.
Yes they spent peanuts in the Moyes era, Cahill for 3m, Arteta for 4m and Jagielka for 7m and those formed the backbone of team that was top 6 regulars and had an identity about them so as far away from what they are now as you can get.
It's certainly an MON style transfer policy, wildly over inflated fees on average domestic players.
