A lesson for people that night; don't leave before the final whistle, when we got into the pub after the match, blokes were moaning about us losing two nil, nothing about the performance of possibly the best player they'd ever seen and when we told them it ended two all we got the usual fuck off, they took a bit of convincing. Fabulous player, fabulous night and Villa fans showing their class again with the ovation they gave him as he was substituted.

Post by: Exeter 77 on June 17, 2020, 10:28:02 PM: One of the things that really irritated me about our demise in the last decade is that we no longer got the increasingly rare opportunities to see players such as Cruyff, Platini, Boniek and Mattheus because we no longer had any chance of getting into Europe.

Cruyff was just brilliant that night and to think he was not only carrying an injury but was unwell as well. What a brilliant player.
