Another very tough game. We will likely go with the same team as Leicester. False 9 formation of whatever it was the other night. We will need the same effort and organization. We simply cannot give the ball away as wastefully as we did vs Leicester as we will get beaten. But there’s more confidence about the club right now, so I’ll take a draw.
1-1 Jack for us. Colin Bell for them.
-
Charlie Nicholas has gone for 0-5. Fuck off Charlie Nicholas.
-
Not a hope in hell of even a point.
I’ve voted home win. Come on Villa

He's my second least favourite former Bully Wee player after Steve Evans. He's a right twat.
Probably not far off right, though 😥
-
1-3.
I think we'll be good for an hour and be at 1-1 (remember we held them scoreless first half up there) and then we'll do our usual of being scared at about to hold a decent team to a draw and Nakamba or Luiz (one of them will probably be on the pitch) will just start passing De Bruyne or Bernardo Silva the ball at random which won't end well.
Man. City are very good of course but they did draw 2-2 at Newcastle five weeks ago and of course the infamous Norwich loss in September. Also only scraped past Southampton 2-1 a week after they lost 9-0 so they don't always demolish relegation strugglers.
-
I'll be chuffed if we keep it competitive and look as solid as we did against Leicester. Can we reasonably ask for any more?
We're overdue a win against a big team...
We have more to play for than them...
Wolves beat them...
Dare a man dream?
-
Gonna be grim. We'll have about 3 shots all match as the game is played almost entirely in our third of the pitch.
Yeah, I'm not optimistic about this one.
-
They are not great at back , but we have no strikers hmmmm 2-2 we get 2 own goals

Spurs is the one to watch for that. Lots of injuries and they remain s*** away under Mourinho who dosen't exactly enjoy his season outings to VP.
That's actually a game where I'd be disappointed if we draw, got a good feeling for it.
-
Damage limitation exercise against one of the best teams in the world. We have fragile confidence so a good team battling performance is what we need. Let’s keep the score line respectable...and you never know, we might even scrape a draw or an unlikely win. With all that being said, they aren’t unbeatable so going out there thinking we’ve lost before we’ve kicked a ball is completely the wrong mindset to have going into the game.
0-3 Citeh

Us 4 Them 1
-
Only consolation from this weekend is our other relegation rivals all have tough opponents too. 0-4 City.

1-0. We learn from our mistakes in midfield and remain tight at the back. O.G. off a Luiz shot from 30yds.
-
City win - we just need to keep the goal difference in mind. I know if you have a go at them like Norwich you might get a result, but bearing our 0 forwards formation, another hard game being hard to beat will do me.
-
We unveil our new temporary striker before kick off
He has plenty of experience in the Premier league and has scored goals at that level
I give you ............ an 18 stone Gabby Agbonlahor
After a lively start we cave in 1-4 to Citeh
-
Only a few months ago I watched a bang average Newcastle get a draw out of these.

So he'll be in better nick than when he was a permanent player then.
-
Anything but a drubbing wouldn't be too bad but I'd like to be more ambitious and it must be emphasised this team is far from invincible.
1-0
-
We should be expected to lose this but after Wednesday and the way we played I reckon we could get something against Citeh looking forward to going to this so I reckon a 1-1 draw for me.
-
Anything under a 4-0 defeat would be a good result. Getting a point would be a great performance
-

Have you missed the rest of the season? That means nothing.
-
Sorry but in my version of the real world..........
0-3
-
I would love a point, but I know we will score 0 and have 0 points at the end.
-

The two teams directly below us are playing each other..
-
Stick a central defender up front to hold up the ball.
-
If anyone thinks we wont lose then please let me know and we can have a bet.
-
we don’t fair well against the so called top 6 teams
1 point so far (Man Utd)
which in fairness is 1 point more than I predicted
Sadly it’s not going to change this weekend
-
Strikey or no strikey, no pointys.

I'll have a bit of that?

We'll win.

could be the first prem game when both teams play without a striker
-
So, no striker before Sunday, and Kodjia is still "ill".
-

I'm happy to agree to a 0-0 if they are.

Ask him why and he'll spit in your eye...
-
2-0 City, Nyland and Mings joint men of the match
-
1-1. Fuck off Citeh! My reasoned and thoughtful analysis.

Bloody state of the ticket prices. No wonder it's not sold out.

D 1-1. Or a battering.
-
Stick a central defender up front to hold up the ball.
Villa players who have played up front and at the back.
Allan Evans.
Dion Dublin.

If we win, I’m inviting everyone on here to a massive piss up in town, regardless of the fact it’s Sunday. Who’s with me?

They have played in the biggest european competition in 4 of the last 5 seasons.

everybody in that cup game vs Bradford

Bloody state of the ticket prices. No wonder it's not sold out.
Certain blocks in Upper Trinity and DE stands are £50 with NO concessions for kids.
Absolutely disgusting.

Zone 1 hasn't had concessions for a few years now.

Cowards. Sorry, wrong thread.
Anyway, for tomorrow's game bearing in mind our goalkeeping and forward issues, there is a great danger that we will oscillate wildly.

Us 1-5 Them
-
Our lads had to do a lot of running midweek while they hammered United. Could be nasty enough alright. Only possible change is Targett coming back in for Taylor. Or at a stretch Hourihane for Trez. Options are very limited.
-
If only we can get a point what a confidence booster
-
A shock 2-2 draw tomorrow but we'll need to get in their faces.
-
1.1
-
Vassilev to possibly feature tomorrow. Training with the first team and not involved in the U23s loss at Norwich on Friday.
-
Car crash. Anything less than 0-3 please Villa. Great result and performance against Leicester with the 3 at the back. Just think City will have too much for us to deal with.
-
FIFA predicts Villa 3 (El Ghazi 22, Hourihane 64 Nakamba 86) Man City 2 (D.Silva 7, De Bruyne 88.)
-
I can't see Nakamba being on the pitch at the 86 minute mark but I'll 'take that™' if you 'are offering™'
-
He was only on the pitch because I can’t be arsed making substitutions.
-
Grealish as the false 9 again?

A few words on our visitors by the Guardian. Hey, it’s free:

A few words on the hosts too.
Aston Villa have had rotten luck with injuries but can also count blessings as they prepare to host Manchester City on Sunday. The goalkeeper Orjan Nyland again filled in well for the stricken Tom Heaton in Wednesday’s Carabao Cup draw at Leicester, where Tyrone Mings performed even better. Mings’s return to fitness has made Villa more solid, as has Dean Smith’s decision to switch to a back three, which has the added merit of freeing up Frédéric Guilbert to attack more down the right. “I like it, I think I’ve got what it takes physically to go up and down so the system suits me well,” said Guilbert after scoring at Leicester. “When we press [in this system] we’re quite high, so we can cause danger very quickly when we win the ball ... we’re trying to make the team more solid overall and we hope that will help us gain as many points as possible. Every game in the Premier League is tough but our next one more than most. But we will fight with the weapons we have. We’ll go to war.”

think this will be a replay of the game at Etihad
1-3
-

Dean?
-
Come on Villa boys! Keep it tight at the back, retain possession and pass to our own players in midfield and take the few chances we might get up front and who knows. UTV!
-
We can do this. No point entering the game trying to keep the score down.
And back in the real world as long as we try hard it's all we can do.
On form they can run rings around almost anyone, let's hope for a good game plan and for them to be tired too.
Drinkwater with the winner....
-
I’ll miss the game today as I’m at the nipper’s panto, but I’ve woken up cautiously optimistic.
I’m predicting the Jack Grealish show today - 2-1 win! 0-1 down with 2nd half comeback.... Mings and Jack with the goals.
*I’ll wake up in a mo!
-
To have any chance we have to keep the ball better.

Grealish as the false 9 again?
I can't see any other option given Kodj actually does seem ill rather than being on verge of moving (could still be both of course).
Actually it's not the worst option to try out v a team as good as Man. City. Need to make it as difficult as possible to play through us today, no easy task whichever formation you put out.
Bar Drinkwater coming in for Marvelous I wouldn't expect any other changes from Leicester. Interested to see how the 3-4-3 looks today.
-
Sorry for the ‘chip pissing’ but the inevitable will happen today. But if we put in a performance similar to Liverpool at home in the PL then I’ll be heartened.
-
I'm going for a draw, 1-1, City are not going to win the Premiership this time out, maybe the motivation isn't as great as normal, fingers crossed we can get the draw and more valuable points that we desperately need.
-
I'm going to be able to watch this in my own living room. Yay!
-
I will be watching... well following the match on this thread holed up in a ranch in Addo game reserve in Eastern cape so I do not want to read following words on match thread:
