I have no idea why with Engels and Guilbert available Dean has selected Elmo and retained Konsa.

Konsa for his extra pace, maybe, but Elmo for Freddy is a bit puzzling.

Very strange , Elmo played well at least v Chelsea but Konsa was all over the place. Trez a bit unlucky
-
Happy enough with the forward and midfield players but fear we are asking for trouble at the back
-
Win please.
-
Skillz, you are Mr Jelly and I claim my £5
-
I thought today's game was on Sky not Leicester City TV.......
-
Can people starting match and pre-match threads go back to putting kick-off dates and times please?
-
would have freddie straight back in
he was great before he was suspended
-
Can people starting match and pre-match threads go back to putting kick-off dates and times please?
All match threads are started an hour before kick off when the teams are announced. The date and time of the game would be obvious.
-
Gordon Sidney Cowans on the telly. What a player, wish we had his younger self in this team. Fabulous player.
-
Please Villa do us proud.
-
Guilbert should be playing.
Come on Villa!
-
110% today Villa.
-
Load of old players at the game to remember Ron including Sir Brian, Chico and Ken.
-
Elmo did play well against Chelsea in fairness.
-
Tyrone being a dilettante from the off. I wish he would stop that.
-
Two touches, two fuck ups from Mings. No more!
-
Konsa saves us with a great challenge
-
Fucking mark your man!!!
-
Decent start by us
-
Fuck me, it's tipping down over B6. I thought my TV had misted over.
-
Good pace to the game
-
What a waste.
-
Another chance, should have shot
-
Shit corner from a great attacking move.
-
AEG hits the bar
-
Fuck knows how this is still 0-0, way it's going it will finish 4-4
-
Dreadful miss. Just bounced up at the last second.
-
How the fuck did AEG hit the bar there?
-
You really can not afford to miss those.
-
That's a proper howler. FFS.
-
Really need to put these chances away
-
Mings booked after a fuck up
-
Mings you fucking liability!
-
Stupid, over-playing with the ball. Will we ever learn!! Lucky that's not a penalty.
-
Terrible up mings ffs
-
What is it with some of these players, its like they can take a tea break before deciding what to do with the ball, somebody tell them its the Premiership.
-
Elmo, learn to head the fucking thing.
-
Our seasons failings show up in 10 mins - Ghazi misses a sitter and Mings loses ball on edge of his own area. We are not learning
-
I’ve seen this movie before. We play well, we will take the lead, we will waste chances, late in the game we will get deeper and deeper and concede an equalizer. Then somewhere after 85 they score the winner.
-
well we are learning because Mings took the yellow to stop them getting through. The fuck-up happened but he handled it with more experience than he has in the past.
-
Mings has done his hamstring
-
Waste of a free kick. Oh great, Mings has a hammy problem.
-
Tyrone fucked.
-
Mings makes to many mistakes
-
Engels putting a bra on.
-
This is why Hause, and not Taylor, should be on the bench, if fit.
-
Mings back on
-
Bollocks 0-1
-
ffs
-
Wesley’s fault.
-
Wes loses possession, bollocks. Why do we cause our own problems so much
-
the ****** even missed it and we still fucked it
-
So it begins. This team needs to sort it’s shit out now
-
Idiots!
-
Well done Weseley
-
Fucking joke. Wesley, Mings, Konsa. FFS!
-
Oh my God, what a shit piece of defending, yet afuckinggain. If Mings is fucked, get him off. Konsa, what were you doing you mug?
-
It's been a bit shit so far.
-
Hwaton took konsa out the fool
-
Wesley, your fault
-
Mings down again, end of his game you'd imagine
-
What does Wesley actually bring to our team? Who else do we have kip front?
-
Oh my God, what a shit piece of defending, yet afuckinggain. If Mings is fucked, get him off. Konsa, what were you doing you mug?
Tripped by Heaton
-
Terrible Tyrone’s injured if he hadn’t been on the pitch we might have recovered.
-
Get Mings off FFS.
-
Mings unable to get back to close them down..
WTF was he still on the pitch for?
Leicester were bound to send one down the middle to test him out.
-
Mings get off now.
-
Again we lose possession, slow, pondering lack of good decision making in crucial area's. This is going to be very hard game
-
Mings could not run, this is why we are in trouble. We keep shooting ouselves in the foot idiots
-
Unbelievable they kept mings on and its cost us. Stupidity
-
A striker that doesn’t score goals and costs goals.
-
Shit decision making.
-
I hope that cupped ear nonsense from Vardy comes back to haunt him later on in this match. Wanker.
-
fucking shambles watching that
mings should never have come back on with people like vardy around ffs
-
Finally an injury that benefits us
/baddumtish
-
Bloody stupid leaving Mings on.
-
There is no fucking spine to this side. Mings, Luiz and Wesley. Hopeless.
-
Fucking put them in Anwar!
-
Yep, that one came from Mings not being able to run, poor decision to leave him on.
-
Absolutely fucking idiotic decision to leave Mings on.
-
Unlucky el ghazi
-
I could see from 1000km away that Mings was crocked. Deano WTF?
-
final ball is useless ffs mcginn
-
He came back on and I thought "they'll score then he'll go off".
Fuckin crap.
-
Mcginn been horrible. What has happened
-
We are just too soft. I reiterate that if Southampton get something today we are in bottom 3 again
-
Fucking press better Villa.
-
Mcginns having a stinker
-
Smith should have demanded Mings came off before costing us that goal, feeble management, clear to everyone he was wrecked
-
Oh my God, what a shit piece of defending, yet afuckinggain. If Mings is fucked, get him off. Konsa, what were you doing you mug?
Tripped by Heaton
He wasn't reading the game prior to that mate. He's having a torrid afternoon so far.
-
i fear a thumping
-
We are just too soft. I reiterate that if Southampton get something today we are in bottom 3 again
As it stands we are bottom three
-
Pressure is building, Norwich just scored.
-
Dunno who you want to blame it starts with the decision to leave Mings on and ends with Wes taking the ball off Jack and passing to them.
-
Jack telling the Leicester bench to fuck off.
-
Jack making his feeling known to somebody in the dugout.
-
Our midfield are chasing shadows again. No structure at all.
-
We are just too soft. I reiterate that if Southampton get something today we are in bottom 3 again
As it stands we are bottom three
Shit you are right. Thought they were on 14 but ......fucking hell!
-
110% today Villa.
110% wank so far. :-(
-
Fucking Sheff Utd - been doing great until they play Norwich. FFS
-
Wesley is no where near anh if the bloody crosses. He is so easy ti defend against
-
Our midfield are chasing shadows again. No structure at all.
First goal was always going to be big today. Not great to concede first to a take who's won seven straight and now they've fully settled into the game.
Thought we played well first ten minutes, hit the bar and had three corners but our execution of them with Hourihane not on the pitch has been poor all season.
-
Championship level of playing though. We aren’t adapting to this league at all
-
McGinn is like a lost lamb and totally ineffective out on the right. We need his engine (and left foot!) Right smack bang driving through the middle.
-
McGinn is like a lost lamb and totally ineffective out on the right. We need his engine (and left foot!) Right smack bang driving through the middle.
He's nowhere to be seen at the moment
-
Leicester make passing look easy. We make everything look hard.
-
We look slow and cumbersome.
-
Targett down
-
We are absolutely brainless sometimes, just plain stupid, giving balls away and making daft decisions, we have the quality but are brain dead at times
-
Never expected to get anything from today. Always felt like Leicester have been one of our bogey teams, and now they’re a bloody good side too!
Just hope it’s not a complete pasting! ☹️
-
Targett down
Fucking 'ell, PWS has joined the SAS!!
-
we have the quality but are brain dead at times
We have some, but not enough.
-
We are much to flowery, can't hold onto the ball, you can see the difference Leicester mentality to us, they want it, they get it, then they instantly push forward.
-
This lot are currently the second best side in the country, of course they look better than us.
-
McGinn looks sloppy, Luiz looks a bit lost, Wesley's having a mare, Jack can't get into the game, and I'm afraid Vardy is just eating Konsa alive. They look miles and miles better than us, and with Norwich winning I'm starting to think we look strongly like an unlucky 18th this season.
-
Marvellous. A yellow card.
-
Leicester make passing look easy. We make everything look hard.
They are in control of the game.
-
Championship level of playing though. We aren’t adapting to this league at all
Leicester to me are playing better than they did in 15/16. They won the league that year with 79 points. Could get more points this year and still finished 15 points off Liverpool.
We've lost our way in last ten minutes. Must keep this down to 0-1 at half time. 2 nil would be too much to come back from.
-
Southampton many years ago, surprisingly ditched Nigel Adkins who wasn’t doing a bad job just wasn’t progressing as the board hoped for. There was an up and coming manager called Pochettino available and they made the change. At what point, irrespective of the new contract will that be a consideration for our board. We are not getting any better. We are not learning from our mistakes and other teams around us are winning games. It’s very concerning.
-
luis ffs decision making is shit
-
BBC saying we seem so naive to play the way we are against Leicester.
-
We are much to flowery, can't hold onto the ball, you can see the difference Leicester mentality to us, they want it, they get it, then they instantly push forward.
Totally agree. That last 60 seconds sums us up.
-
This lot are currently the second best side in the country, of course they look better than us.
Exactly! Can’t believe anyone was expecting anything from today.
-
It's a foul by Nakamba, and a booking. But why wasn't Chilwell booked ear....oh I can't be arsed.
Come on Villa!!
-
Someone shoot ffs
-
elmo u fucking tithead
-
Fucking terrible, elmo you arse.
-
Horseshit from Elmo
-
Wesley, Konsa, luiz absolutely diabolical.
-
Fuck me Engels has saved us a couple of times since he came on.
-
Elmo shoot for gods sake. Coward
-
Better from us.
-
This lot are currently the second best side in the country, of course they look better than us.
Exactly! Can’t believe anyone was expecting anything from today.
How about a bit of effort and more than two consecutive passes
-
Stop trying to walk it in - have a sodding shot someone.
-
wet pitch - someone fucking shoot - if you cant pass to your own players cause its wet , then bloody shoot at least
-
Just once just once in my twilight years I’d like to see us compete against these good sides. Every time we play them we look like we’ve only just met.
-
0-2
#sadnessinmyeyes
-
This lot are currently the second best side in the country, of course they look better than us.
Exactly! Can’t believe anyone was expecting anything from today.
We can still get something from today.
I am a bit surprised people seem amazed Leicester can string passes together. Anyone who gives them a brief watch knows Chillwelll and Ricardo are two of the best attacking FBs in the league. They have played many better teams than us off the pitch this season.
FFS, 2-0.
-
Freddy buries that. Another mark against the selection.
-
This lot are currently the second best side in the country, of course they look better than us.
Exactly! Can’t believe anyone was expecting anything from today.
How about a bit of effort and more than two consecutive passes
Quite. They may look better than us but they're not making us play like kids.
-
This lot are currently the second best side in the country, of course they look better than us.
Exactly! Can’t believe anyone was expecting anything from today.
How about a bit of effort and more than two consecutive passes
You really think there's no effort?
-
fucking uselessssss
-
This is a performance to be ashamed of.
-
Fucking hell!
-
There we are again. When you don’t take your chances. It’s now keeping the score down. Spineless quite literally
-
Scary
-
110% shit.
-
This lot are currently the second best side in the country, of course they look better than us.
Exactly! Can’t believe anyone was expecting anything from today.
How about a bit of effort and more than two consecutive passes
Was all there in the first 10 minutes. We needed a goal badly then given the form they're in. Mings injury, him playing on and us conceding all in that spell has knocked the stuffing from us.
-
Oh dear
-
2 on 1 and he still scores. FFS!
-
Fuck me there's some hyperbolic nonsense on this thread.
-
Watch McGinn. Didn’t track back with his midfielder. Not performed since opening 2-3 games. Needs dropping as hes offered nothing
-
Wes down.
-
Absolutely fucking pathetic. We’ve learned nothing at all.
-
Okay. Now I’m re-officially worried. We are so Fcukin naive. It’s embarrassing.
-
Goodnight Vienna. Been coming because we are so indecisive. How fucking frustrating. Need the next goal.
-
Getting a footballing lesson here . Gonna be a long second half.
-
wesley could be injured
might not be a bad thing - hes been shit
-
Game over. Hopeless and pathetic
-
Wesley is injured. Blessing?!
-
Game over
-
Just once just once in my twilight years I’d like to see us compete against these good sides. Every time we play them we look like we’ve only just met.
We drew against one just six days ago.
Seem to say this every week but I'd get Kodj on at half time. Give us some more unpredictability in the final third.
-
Both goals started with a half arsed Wesley drifting about the place with his head in the clouds
-
Dreadful and passive again. Fucking dross.
Why do our players look less fit than everyone else?
-
You really think there's no effort?
That's the worry. They may well be trying their bollocks off but we've still been shambolic.
-
Relegation zone and I have a horrible feeling we'll stay there. I go back to those games against Bournemouth, West Ham, Burnley, home games we by all rights should have had at least one win from but ended up with none. More than one person has said we're too good to go down but, to be honest, we look like the 18th best side in the division to me.
-
This could get embarrassing, we look a fucking shambles.
All started with the horrendous decision to leave Mings on.
Yes I am worried
-
We’ve been fucking crap.
-
dean smith I must ask - why the fuck did you play elmo instead of freddie
-
Too good for us where we are now, but our time will come
-
Elmo has been terirble. Why isnt gilbert back in?
-
110% fan rush to the pie stand.
-
When the chips are down, we never step up. Every time.
-
Need Newcastle to win now, can imagine the world is ending feeling on here and elsewhere if we do actually drop into the bottom 3 which looks likely now.
Newcastle with just the one shot on target in the first half so the perils of wanting Bruceball to prosper.
-
When the chips are down, we never step up. Every time.
Everyone's gone for chips looking at the blue seats everywhere.
-
We look a rabble I'm afraid. Lack of application in midfield and wide open on every counter attack. Engels has saved two certain goals with last ditch interceptions
-
Good job that's a free kick, because Wesley lost it AGAIN!!
-
get fucking wesley off - ffs - what a twat
-
Relegation zone and I have a horrible feeling we'll stay there. More than one person has said we're too good to go down but, to be honest, we look like the 18th best side in the division to me.
Surely anyone should reserve judgement on that until we at least play Southampton and Watford in the league, we must be only team in whole league not to have played either and obviously with their positions in the bottom 3 all teams in the league are getting points off them.
-
When the chips are down, we never step up. Every time.
Everyone's gone for chips looking at the blue seats everywhere.
Do you believe in the Villa? No I fucking don't.
-
Might as well start the Post-Match thread..
-
SCOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRCHIIIIIIIIIIIIOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
-
VAR check of course.
-
VAR fucks sake
-
Guess this won’t be a goal
-
The highlights are in Jack's hair. Gooooooool for Aston fucking Villa!
-
Goal
-
grealish!!!!!!
-
Stands, 1-2
-
HT 1-2
-
St Jack, brilliant.
-
fucking blew up when we were on a break 2 on 1 - wanker
-
Well in, Jack!
-
Var goves it
Why did tje ref blow whene was on attack. Idiot!
-
1-2 then.
Despite all the doom and gloom on here we deserve a goal for the first 15 minutes. Corners, shots on goal, decent passing. Everything people were asking for pre match for Sir Ron and seemed to forget happened at 2 down.
Whole Mings injury and him deciding not to come off straight away messed up the next 20 minutes and possibly the result. We're still in it though.
-
We have a player sadly only one.
-
Needed that goal, but fucking hell we’ve been poor.
The decision not to take Mings off straight away also cost us a goal. Dreadful.
Need to be so much better in the second half.
-
Still in it but two huge mistakes. The selection of Elmo (who I actually like) over the superior Guilbert and letting Mings hop around for 60 seconds leading to the concession of a goal.
Not good enough.
-
Wesley is fucking shite.
-
That's give us a lifeline back into the game, we really have to step this up in the second half, if we can, just maybe..
-
We have a player sadly only one.
We spent 25mil on a Brazilian donkey. They spent 25mil and got James Maddison.
-
Fan-fookin-tastic! Little bit of luck, just at the right time. We're back in it, having not so much ridden our luck as flogged it into the ground.
At times in that half we looked like a plucky but crap lower league side - the whole Mings thing was farcical, borderline unprofessional. But we did also look decent coming forward and carved out a few chances of our own. The lack of quality in the side though is worrying; it's Jack playing by himself most of the time.
-
Good time to score, but 1-2 flatters is massively! Being super optimistic, the best we can hope for is a performance 2nd half and snatch a draw, but I can still see Leicester scoring more- look like scoring every time they push forward.
We do look better with Engels in there mind
-
Yes, the first goal was definitely influenced by Mings immobility, but if you go back a phase Wes avoided a really easy pass to Jack, choosing instead to turn into trouble and gave the ball away for an easy counter. His job is to win the ball up there and lay it - which he could have done and we'd have retained possession in the final third. Mistakes like that annoy me more than a missed chance, because it's a simple thing and easy to do.
They definitely deserved the second though, we were under pressure for a long spell. I think 1-2 is a fair reflection of the first half, but if Anwar puts that chance 6 inches lower it would all look so different...
-
Still in it but two huge mistakes. The selection of Elmo (who I actually like) over the superior Guilbert and letting Mings hop around for 60 seconds leading to the concession of a goal.
Not good enough.
In normal circumstances would get Freddie on but that would leave us only one of Trez, Kodj or Hourihane to being on then.
Think we'll leave AEM on and then use two of the above.
-
Always an indication things are not going well when our players rant at the officials.
-
Wesley is fucking shite.
He really is
-
Wesley is a donkey. Offers fuck all as a center forward. About as threatening as Kermit the Frog.
-
Two words...centre forward. Their's had been excellent with Vardy being a constant threat. Our's has been completely anonymous. Whenever the ball goes in to the box he is nowhere near it.
I actually thought we played pretty well against a very good team. El Ghazi should have scored. Might have been very different if that goes in. Mings should have gone off immediately. Yoou don't run off a hamstring injury.
-
What this does show is there's a long long way to go for us to build a team capable of challenging for europe again.
Think people are being very naive thinking we can finish top 4 in two seasons.
Leicester have been rebuilding from the day they won the title and four seasons on they now they a team as good as that one imo.
Their link up play and game management is very very good and shows why they're above Man. City and won seven straight at this level.
-
We have hope.
-
Wesley is fucking shite.
It’s bordering on cruelty, putting him out there every week.
Such is his confidence..
-
Leicester are a bloody good side with a very good gameplan.
We have however, yet again been the architects of our own downfall. Poor from Wesley to give the ball away and Mings who was clearly injured and should have been substituted before their 1st goal.
-
They are a very very good side and yet we've hit the bar and also scored. Massive mistake leaving Mings on and doesn't reflect well on the manager, physio or player. Has any player ever run off a hamstring injury ffs.
-
Playing ok on the build up. But with Wesley, nowt to target. They look very good going fwd.
-
I think this Leicester side is better than the one that won the league.
-
Come on Dean, let’s see what you are made of
-
They are a very very good side and yet we've hit the bar and also scored. Massive mistake leaving Mings on and doesn't reflect well on the manager, physio or player. Has any player ever run off a hamstring injury ffs.
Guess he felt it was more of a strain otherwise he'd have surely come off straight away.
Just yet more example of poor game management at this level which has cost us another goal v top side. We probably wouldn't have conceded that if we'd had 10 men on the pitch at that time.
-
They are a very very good side and yet we've hit the bar and also scored. Massive mistake leaving Mings on and doesn't reflect well on the manager, physio or player. Has any player ever run off a hamstring injury ffs.
Yes it was very poor all round.
-
we are the epitome of a one man team at the moment
-
Wesley is fucking shite.
It’s bordering on cruelty, putting him out there every week.
Such is his confidence..
It's got to the point where I dont want our players to pass to him.
-
Sheffield equalise in Norfolk.
-
Take wesley off. I cant stand the thought of more of the same from him
-
They are a very very good side and yet we've hit the bar and also scored. Massive mistake leaving Mings on and doesn't reflect well on the manager, physio or player. Has any player ever run off a hamstring injury ffs.
Ha! You've got a point there. First 10 minutes we looked up for it but thereafter we've looked a rabble. Can we stop time wasting and just give them the ball every time we get a corner. Such a pointless exercise.
-
Konsa is horribly naive
-
Sheffield equalise in Norfolk.
Norwich are in danger of getting stuffed.
-
1-3
-
all from jack giving it away there
-
Awful defending, again.
-
Free header.
-
That is fucking shocking defending
-
They are a very very good side and yet we've hit the bar and also scored.
You're almost of thought that a goal actually changed a game somewhat. Something that's only happened to hundreds of teams worldwide.
Shite....1-3. Poor to concede from a corner. That's one area we miss Mings and his dominance from that.
-
Too easy
-
3-1
-
Southampton winning at Newcastle now.
Dreadful two minutes.
-
Wesley is a donkey. Offers fuck all as a center forward. About as threatening as Kermit the Frog.
Has Brian Little brought his boots?
-
Embarrassing, truly fucking embarrassing.
-
That defending tho. *pukes*
-
Well, fuck it I guess.
-
Gonna get crucified but I’m predicting a 5 or 6 goal stuffing
-
You cannot concede goals like that and expect to get anything out of a game
-
That could have easily been a red card
-
Unchallenged!
Who was supposed to pick him up?
-
Wesley is a donkey. Offers fuck all as a center forward. About as threatening as Kermit the Frog.
Has Brian Little brought his boots?
Never mind Brian. Peter Schmeichel offers more goal threat than Wesley.
-
What do they do in training?
-
Rubbish, Villa. Sort yourselves out.
-
Thank god Sheff Utd now winning
-
Terrible. Grealish with the sucide pass then complete no defending
Grealish goes from hero to zero
Targett should be off
-
Gonna get crucified but I’m predicting a 5 or 6 goal stuffing
I can't see us scoring that many, to be honest.
-
Second game in a row we've given up a goal right off half time. Get it together.
-
That should have been a ref for targett.
-
Whatever Dean said to them at half time...
-
Lot of time left, we still have time, Deano must have made it clear what he expects, we need a goal very quickly now.
-
Elmo having a mare
-
Just dreadful.
-
Red all day for Targett there
-
Gonna get crucified but I’m predicting a 5 or 6 goal stuffing
I can't see us scoring that many, to be honest.
Lol! Wesley to score double hat trick? Southampton now winning.
-
Lot of time left, we still have time, Deano must have made it clear what he expects, we need a goal very quickly now.
He expects to lose 3-1?
-
Elmo has been utter shit. Never start him again
-
Picking Elmo has been a great call...
-
We are just brainless, it’s unforgivable, unprofessional
-
We’re looking very very poor.
-
With Southamption winning we're in the bottom three now, at least norwich are down.
-
This could be a very heavy defeat if we don't get a grip. We're reduced to damage limitation now.
-
The crisp munching bastards!
-
Oh for the days of easing out Rotherham away with ten men.
-
Great performance for ron. A utter shit performance
-
Elmo has been utter shit. Never start him again
he is proper championship
-
Too easy for Leicester
-
Only thing that will stop Leicester being top 3 is if they have a Villaesque run of injuries. They really are a very impressive side. Bastards.
-
Oh great another corner for them.
-
Damage limitation now. Protect the goal diff.
-
Wonder if Wesley was watching when Evans showed him how to be a centre forward with goal 3
-
They are so much better than us.
-
Only thing that will stop Leicester being top 3 is if they have a Villaesque run of injuries. They really are a very impressive side. Bastards.
They are annoyingly good to watch
-
So bloody easy for Leicester.
-
Red all day for Targett there
He'll be getting one for his next dodgy tackle.
-
get el ghazi up front and get trez on for that wesley
-
Would Kodjia be a better shout than Wesley?
-
I thought the match started at 4pm!
Just turned the TV on. 1.3 bugger!
-
id even get Conor on for douglas
set pieces are shit
-
I thought the match started at 4pm!
Just turned the TV on. 1.3 bugger!
Lucky..
-
Mings with his fucked hamstring would be better up front than Wes today.
/baddumtish
-
If he's not gonna bring on Kodjia now, then there's no point having him on the bench.
-
I thought the match started at 4pm!
Just turned the TV on. 1.3 bugger!
On the plus side, you've only just turned the telly on.
-
Okay, they're far superior to us, I think everyone recognises that, but we can't even seem to get the basics right. That's the worry.
-
Trez coming on. Nakamba off.
-
Trez on for Nakamba
-
Okay, they're far superior to us, I think everyone recognises that, but we can't even seem to get the basics right. That's the worry.
WE DONT HAVE A FORWARD.
-
Wesley is on par with Jordan Bowery for contribution.
-
SJM booked.
-
Okay, they're far superior to us, I think everyone recognises that, but we can't even seem to get the basics right. That's the worry.
Exactly, this was always going to be hard, but we've made it harder.
-
So many poor crosses. They want it soooo much more than we do.
-
SJM booked.
FTFY
-
This is one of Jack’s worst games.
-
Should have hooked Doug Luiz instead of Marvellous. Didn’t even know he was playing Bar a few misplaced passes and tackles
-
This is one of Jack’s Villa's worst games.
FTFY
-
Agreed.
-
Would Kodjia be a better shout than Wesley?
He surely couldn't be any worse
-
I miss the days of SJM bum sticking out.
-
Should have hooked Doug Luiz instead of Marvellous. Didn’t even know he was playing Bar a few misplaced passes and tackles
Could have been any of them really mate. No one has been great.
-
Can’t believe he is still sticking with Wes.
-
We really need to learn how to play when Grealish isn’t able to dictate play. Chelsea and now Leicester have both done a number on him and we have nothing else to offer.
-
That was shit from the ref, Engels clearly took a blow to the face and he just let them break.
-
Can’t believe he is still sticking with Wes.
After what he said the other day he has no choice.
-
See that's good game management from Rodgers. Inenaccho booked, involved in little incident with Engels so off straight away.
Wish Dean could be sharper at that sort of stuff.
We're playing o.k again. Can see us scrambling another goal.
-
Come on Villa
-
I miss the days of SJM bum sticking out.
Maybe the staff have told him not to bum opposition players any more. It's like cutting off Samson's hair.
-
I’ve just realised we’ve bought Santa not a Brazilian bloke called Wesley.
-
Newcastle 1-1, that's the good news of this half. Also won me 200 quid.
-
Wesley is uttee garbage. We need a striker. If we are to rely on wesley only we are going down.
-
Fcukin Elmo a five yard pass!
-
Wesley could have better used the time he spent having that blonde fanny dyed on his chin. By reading The Observer Book of Football Striking or something.
-
Our two Brazilians aren’t very good are they.
-
Wesley is uttee garbage. We need a striker. If we are to rely on wesley only we are going down.
For better or worse, that'll cost us damn near 30million in January.
Hope we kept the receipt because Wesley is no better than Rudy Gestede.
-
should have been 4
-
Geordies have equalised. Other results not looking so catastrophic now.
-
Grealish 2nd half has been poor. Should be 4-1
-
Maddison misses an easy one.
Would take McGinn off tbh, not been great for a while and on a yellow.
-
All this and Leicester have a Pratt playing for them.
-
We are so slow paced going forward compared to Leicester.
-
Our two Brazilians aren’t very good are they.
It's just like watching Brazil.
Versus Germany in 2014.
-
You'll all have egg on your faces when Wes rattles in a 10 minute hattrick.
-
Lineker will be treating himself to an extra crisp
-
AEM starting was not a good call today I'm afraid, really struggling against their direct movement.
Don't understand these conference calls we have on the bench betwee Smith, Terry and O'Kelly that seem to last 5 minutes. Can't DS decide on a sub and then make it within two minutes or something?
-
Surprised we haven't had anyone sent off yet.
-
Maddison misses an easy one.
Would take McGinn off tbh, not been great for a while for ages and on a yellow.
FTFY
-
Why don't we play two up front? Might just be what Wes needs; someone up with him.
Penalty? Fuck off Leicester.
-
We’ve been fucking dreadful, absolutely insipid.
-
You'll all have egg on your faces when Wes rattles in a 10 minute hattrick.
That's the spirit.
-
Time to start kodjia. He adda more than wesley does ffs
-
Wesley is not very good is he
-
The aptly named Basham sent off for Sheffield United, will miss our game.
-
I miss Tammy Abraham.
-

If Guilbert isn't injured, and him being on the bench would confirm that he isn't, then starting Elmo ahead of him today is unfathomable.
-
The fans have been as bad as the team too. Though it's hard to rouse yourself with that spectacle in front of you.
-
Honestly this should be 6-1.
-
Dean could ya fuckin do something, we are terrible.
For the love of God we're getting dicked at home a day after a real manager and a legend passes away.
Whats it going to take to construct a Plan B.
-
Leicester been better at 3-1 than 2-0 imo.
Bit like Chelsea, we'll be lucky to get away from this with two goal defeat.
-
I reckon we would better off with wesley snipes up front than this one.
-
There is absolutely NO justification for Wesley being out on that pitch!
-
This is painful to watch.
-
Never wanted a game to end so much. Fucking awful game and performance.
Sky showed a stat earlier, we’ve claimed ONE point all season off teams in top half of the table. We’re ranked 20th!
Considering how much we spent compared to other promoted teams, this is NOT good enough. Yes, Smith is Villa through and through, but does that really give him a free pass? We’re terrible.
If Bruce or Lambert were in charge, we’d have their head on a spike by now.
-
This could be 5/6.
-

Think it was just a case of AEM played alright at Chelsea, set up the goal and stayed in. Big mistake once game started though.
-
What a difference a week makes
-
Get up Trez you tart.
-
You'll all have egg on your faces when Wes rattles in a 10 minute hattrick.
That would mean Wes would have to get into Leicester's pen area, or take a shot and that takesa bit of effort.
If he gets a hat trick, or even a goal I'll gladly wipe egg of my face.
He has to be dropped.
-
Why don't we play some one up front?
FTFY
-
fucking hell 1 4
-
Get up Trez you prick.
-
luis u twat
-
Our corners are simply awful without Hourihane, that's certainly something we need to practise more at Bodymoor.
1-4, that's a scoreline Leicester deserve. Vardy one of the best one on one finishers around.
-
Still 15 minutes and the rest to go.
-
I reckon we would better off with wesley snipes up front than this one.
I reckon we would better off with Fred Wesley up front than this one.
-
I bet there will be a few thinking about 'beating the traffic' now.
-
I cannot watch this anymore.
-
Thing is with Wesley, he was scoring some screamers for Bruges, running at pace. Looked sharp.
Where is that player?
-
Oh dear. We’ve been shown what proper football is today. Embarrassing.
-
No positives from today. None.
-
Targett injured again after being done for pace, Gullibert coming on.
-
Pathetic and shit performance. Worst of thr season. Yoh let ron down big time you losers
-
I hate Vardy.
-
There you go. Leicester have been very good, but we’ve been fucking atrocious.
-
Rodgers and his normal smirking face
-
The fans have been as bad as the team too. Though it's hard to rouse yourself with that spectacle in front of you.
Villa park was rocking against Everton. It's sad that all that early season excitement has been eroded by poor performances.
-
4-1 with 10 mins to go against Leicester, 4-4 it is then.
-
I can’t physically watch this anymore.
-
Leicester had only conceded 9 goals in 15 games up to today.
Can't see them collapsing in the last 15 minutes.
Game over.
-
Turned off im done.
-
We've been hammered today and look every inch relegation candidates.
-
Embarrassing is the word. Really worrying.
-
Worrying thing is that with 20 minutes to go 1-3 down but we should have been having a go but no we never looked like scoring 1 never mind two goals
-
We are a one man team. If Jack isn’t on song we are nothing
-
Heaton saves it from being 5
-
How humiliating. I’m losing faith in Dean at this level. I don’t think I’m being melodramatic in saying that.
-
We’ve made it so easy. Utterly gutless display.
-
Anyone getting worried?
-
The fans have been as bad as the team too. Though it's hard to rouse yourself with that spectacle in front of you.
Villa park was rocking against Everton.
I know, I was there.
-
I have to go work in 30 mins with about 20 smug leicester fans coming to see me taking the piss. Thanks a lot Villa , you useless twats . you didnt make Ron proud at all today you tits .
-
Gutless and pathetic. I cannot think of one positive from today. Our players look tired, devoid of ideas, no spark, no guts.
-
Well that’s that.
Dean is starting to get on thin ice.
-
How humiliating. I’m losing faith in Dean at this level. I don’t think I’m being melodramatic in saying that.
Dean's head is spinning. He's really starting to make me angry.
-
Leicester singing "just like Leicester, your city is blue"
-
We’re a Championship team and he is a very good Championship manager....pains me to say...
-
Dean has had a shocking day. To a man they’ve been hopeless.
-
Konsa has been atrocious today. Jesus Christ. He's not alone I suppose.
Elmohamady was a player I hoped would leave in the summer, but no. He's tried, but just not Premier League quality.
What's most disappointing amongst a lot of other things is how poor our better players have been. Mcginn...well, him and Grealish are about it. Mings wasn't on long enough and Guilbert should have started.
A crap performance.
Some of the defending has been woeful. Isn't Terry supposed to be helping with that side. Clutching at straws and all that, regarding complaints.
Boo.
-
Big big lesson today. Would not be surprised to see Leicester in the mix at the end of the season
-
How humiliating. I’m losing faith in Dean at this level. I don’t think I’m being melodramatic in saying that.
No, you're not. He does seem wedded to his ideas. Ideas which aren't working.
-
We've gone from a back four to a back none, unable to track and mark from dead ball situations.
-
ftp://
Thing is with Wesley, he was scoring some screamers for Bruges, running at pace. Looked sharp.
Where is that player?
If his confidence is shot, he needs a rest. But even if not, his running, and anticipation is trash
-
I think we’re going to need another centre back as well. Appalling defending all afternoon.
-
Fuck this lot. Starting to question whether Smith was responsible for getting us promoted or the pure willpower of Jack Grealish.
Poor team selections, sticking with a #9 that is detrimental to the team, and shocking subs/timings.
Smith out. There....I said it.
And Terry too - fucking freeloader off skiing when our defence has more holes than the Titanic.
-
We've gone from a back four to a back none, unable to track and mark from dead ball situations.
..and we've got John Terry as an assistant.
-
Few things we need, firstly to get to the transfer window ASAP, to get in 4 or 5 quality players and spend big time on a Labour scale, to do both the aforementioned in order to keep Jack at the club.
-
ftp://Thing is with Wesley, he was scoring some screamers for Bruges, running at pace. Looked sharp.

Even the commentators picked up on him holding us back.
-
Deans problem is he is too stubborn to drop wesley whk os effectjng us bad. He adds nothing to the side
Im watching snowmna jn channel 4 more enjoyable than this villa performance
-
For all the "he has a mistake in him every game" criticism that Mings gets, I think this afternoon we've seen the value he has to this defence. Leicester look like scoring every time they go forward.
-
I still think Wes has something but for it's time for him to be dropped and for us to try something different, be it giving Kod a start or playing AEG or even Trez as the striker.
-
How humiliating. I’m losing faith in Dean at this level. I don’t think I’m being melodramatic in saying that.
No, you're not. He does seem wedded to his ideas. Ideas which aren't working.
I had concerns before the season started which he assuaged to some degree, but as we go on and we fail to improve so consistently you have to wonder. We look like we're trying to play two or three types of football at once which, as Unai Emery found it, is going to get quickly exploited at this level.
-

Anyone with eyes can see Wesley's a liability.
Dean, for whatever reason, is blindly loyal to him. Its unacceptable.
-

They did while he was on as well.
-
Has Wesley has a shot today?
-
We've been hammered today and look every inch relegation candidates.
Very true. Are we the only bottom half team not to get a win against any of the 'top' teams this season? I'm watching the reason why.
-
Our next five league fixtures are massive and might even decide our season.
Sheff U away
Southampton home
Norwich home
Watford away
Burnley away
Then after we play Fulham in the cup and Man City in the league we have
Brighton away
Watford home
Bournemouth away
December and January are massive months for us.
-
Dean needs to work out different ideas.
-
Is jota crocked again?
-

Alan Smith a was a good CF. He knows when Wesley isn’t even doing the basics
As I type, awful shot from AEG
-
We’re sh*t and we know we are.
It’s going to be v difficult to stay in this league, but we’ll see what happens in January.
-
Smith is too stubborn for his own good and it will be his downfall. Whether we like it or not, we have no premier league standard strikers at the club.
He should be able to see this and maybe try a false #9 at the very least.
He’s had almost half the season, and we’re not seeing anything different to Day 1. This is the most telling aspect of it all.
-
22 games left is it? Where are we getting 25 points?
-

How humiliating. I’m losing faith in Dean at this level. I don’t think I’m being melodramatic in saying that.
The eyes don't lie. We're very poor at the moment and no real signs of us turning it around. The gap between the PL and Championship is massive. We have far too many Championship level players.
-
We've been hammered today and look every inch relegation candidates.
Very true. Are we the only bottom half team not to get a win against any of the 'top' teams this season? I'm watching the reason why.
We’ve gained the grand total of ONE POINT from teams in the top half of the table all season!
-
Newcastle 2-1!
So we'll stay out of bottom 3 for another week.
Seems everytime I put a bet on Newcastle today they score 30 seconds later.
Brucie forever.
-
We’re sh*t and we know we are.
It’s going to be v difficult to stay in this league, but we’ll see what happens in January.
Aston Villa are a tremendously wealthy club, there is no excuse or reason why we should except relegation, its not ideal to buy your way out of a situation like this but needs must.
-
Newcastle leading
-
Shit all over it seems
-
Toon winning now. Bad result at VP but other results going our way.
-
Battered today, horrible. Christmas is massive now, Southampton and Norwich at home, Watford away. We need 9 points, simple as that. And an unlikely draw or win at Sheffield next week would be helpful. Come New Year’s Day, things will either look really bleak or far more optimistic, no in between.
-
I hate to be negative and not go for the win but must admit i'd take a point now.
-

He’s going to be given a chance to get into the “easier” portion of the schedule and the transfer window. But I have no room for sentiment. If it doesn’t improve by the end of Jan and we are still in the bottom 3 or 4, cut the cord, say a big thank you and get someone who has proven top level quality in.
-
Look on the bright side. Southampton lost 9-0 to these.
-
Newcastle haven't looked back since we beat them.
-

With 10 men for an hour
-
I hate to be negative and not go for the win but must admit i'd take a point now.
Chuckle
-
Has Wesley has a shot today?
Yes.Two shots of pentobarbital by the looks of things.
-
Jack's lost his head, diving in, falling over, leaving a bit on other players - he could be a 95th minute red at this rate...
-
McGinn has lost it completely. He offers the square root of zilch.
-
Can everyone take stock before conceding relegation in early December. We've been soundly beaten by one of the best sides in the country if not Europe at the moment.
Had a really bad run of fixtures, and if anyone thinks we WEREN'T going to be in a relegation battle after coming up through the playoffs, you're having yourself on. We've looked good in all but one of the games against teams we are ACTUALLY competing with this season.
That doesn't mean there haven't been poor mistakes from players and management today - but can we get a bit realistic
-
Starting to think that January window and all the money in the world won’t make any difference with Smith in charge.
On paper, we’re going into a spell of ‘easier’ games, but with our soft belly, these are exactly the kind of teams we will get turned over by.
We’ll be rooted in bottom 3 by New Year.
-
Outclassed by an excellebt team
-
Had a really bad run of fixtures, and if anyone thinks we WEREN'T going to be in a relegation battle after coming up through the playoffs, you're having yourself on.
There were plenty who thought that.

Only Bournemouth of the 'easier' sides have beaten us this season.
-
Newcastle haven't looked back since we beat them.
Amazing that we pulled a point back of them after that night and now they are 7 ahead and very comfortable. They’ve beaten average teams and top teams. Fist Face has done a very good job there with what he has and that includes a Brazilian CF who isn’t scoring goals.
-
What has happened to mcGinn? looks piss poor..
-
McGinn has lost it completely. He offers the square root of zilch.
I'd have Conor in the team instead of him next time.
-
Heaton with a good save
-
Heaton stopped this being 6 or 7.
Poor.
-
FT
-
Leicester are a really good side, no doubt about it. Maybe not good enough to win the league, but they are solid top 4 material. Losing to them is no disgrace, but this performance jus isn't good enough. If we're going to lose, I want to see us losing while having a go.
Absolutely massive five-game run coming up now against the teams around us...
-
Newcastle haven't looked back since we beat them.
And they were awful. There is hope we can turn it around as well
-
Blow the whistle ref ffs

2nd most losses in the league, no accountability for the lone striker, poor substitutions, most points conceded from winning positions, getting absolutely throttled at home on the eve of a club legend passing away, unable to EVER enact a plan B, unable to get the best out of players anymore..
How realistic do you want us to be?
-
Smith needs to sit down with his coaching staff and try and work out what to do with the squad he's got.
Clearly the current formation and selections aren't working.
We've got no real threat in their box - crosses are either useless, or nobody gets on the end of them.
Our midfield has become porous.
We've had more poor games recently than good ones - Wolves, Chelsea and today v Leicester. - are we getting worse?
He needs to review his tactics and team shape and come up with something new - the current one doesn't seem to be working.
-
Blow the whistle ref ffs
Exactly. The longest 45 mins ever
-
Elmo wesley mcginn and luiz absolutely hopeless today
-
That last the best team we have played in a long while. They were very very good and have been superb this season. Completely bossed us .
-

Sorry mate, but this is blind optimism. We’ve played almost all of the other sides in the league, spent the GDP of a small country, and are hovering around the bottom three.
I’d be optimistic and a little more patience, if I could see at least small improvements in performance, team selection and subs, but frankly, we’re not. If anything we’re going backwards.

Bet you weren’t saying that last Sunday. We were crap today and on Wednesday, against 2 of the top 4, but, as PWS posted elsewhere, the next 12 games with the exception of Citeh and Spurs are all against our rivals. That will make or break us as well as strengthening in Jan.
-
And Spurs aren't Leicester either. The thing that's made me most cross today I'd reading this doom laden trope on here.
