9 changes?
-
What a bench.
-
Win please Villa.
-
I like that Neves and their Jota aren't involved at all. And Adama who's been in decent form. Not a bad line up for us.
-
Would have preferred a slightly stronger line up, perhaps containing the first choice full backs and McGinn. Having said that we really should be beating that Wolves team pretty comfortably. Well, I assume we should. Ryan Bennett and their first choice keeper on the bench are the only members of their squad I’ve heard of.
-
This will be interesting with EG and Trez playing off Keinan
-

Cutrone is a threat. Plays for the Italian U21s with Kean from Everton. Two heavy hitters at that level

I’m really hoping Keinan has a stormer.... then a chance in prem
-
A dreadful team selection. Treating “our cup” with disrespect. I would rather play the first team tonight and win and play this team on Saturday.
-
The Wolves side is full of kids, for god's sake win this Villa please or I will never hear the end of it (having to live and work in Wolverhampton)!!!
-
We should batter them with their lineup.
-
I just hope our players aren't overawed by having the biggest club in the world pay visit to our quaint little patch of grass.
-
They’ll just have to cook it, danno
-

But you must realise that this years ‘second 11’ Are much improved from previous regimes prem/championship starting 11.
That 11 plus bench should be good enough to beat what’s in front of them
-
Slightly disappointed with the line up. Would have rested Mings and McGinn, but wouldn't have made too many other changes really.
-

I think you've made your point by now.
-
Why play such a weakened team, relatively speaking, on Saturday? Tonight's first XI should be strong enough to beat what is in front of them. Save the first choice XI for Saturday.
-

I’m a bit disappointed tbh, would love to do well in this competition. Come on Villa
-
What a bench.
Not sure about that.
-
Slightly disappointed with the line up. Would have rested Mings and McGinn, but wouldn't have made too many other changes really.
Wolves' average age is 19 and I haven't heard of any of their subs. If we can't beat them with the team we've put out then theres something wrong.
-

Is this intended ironically or are you for real? We have players banging down the door for game time and our 1st XI starting to pick up niggles and you want us to keep the team as it was 4 days ago?
-

This team can do well. You really want to write this side off before even seeing them kick a ball?

No I haven’t written anything off, maybe Engles and Guilbert could have started, would be happier with a stronger looking defence, but let’s hope the lads playing take the chance and have a stormer
-
We're putting out a much stronger 11 than Wolves, not sure what else people expect.
-
Tonight there's no wolves
We are playing with cubs
Destroy them Villa
-
Is this another thread about welcome packs? ;-)
-
If anyonr has a stream then please DM me. Cheers
-
Villa Park looks resplendent.
-
Trez looks poor. No faith in him.
(Just to get it started)
-
Dean Smith has a smart watch on. Promising
-
If anyonr has a stream then please DM me. Cheers
I'll second that.
-
Decent start. 80% possession so far. That will balance out but we need to take advantage.
-
Literally nothing has happened. Judging by this thread anyway.
-
It’s bland. We have had most of the ball. Nothing to show for it.
-

A bit wasteful. Trez a bit sloppy with pass and controls. Not keeping ball well in tight space generally
-

I’ve heard of Teddy Taylor.
My best chum texted to say he was on the bench. Son of a good friend of his. Aberdeen originally.
So the answer is no, I don’t really.
-

I'll second that.
Ahem.
-
We need to stop being so cautious and get at these. Wolves are shite.

Bearly worth mentioning but it's actually Terry Taylor.
-
The Official site is hopeles: live match has the Citeh score on it.
It can't be that hard, can it?
-
20 min in almost 80% of the ball and we’ve not had a shot on goal. Surely that’s almost impossible to achieve? But we’ve managed it somehow.
-
Luis likes to shoot
-
barely heard Trezeguet's name mentioned.
-
lansbury having a shocker
-
Arsenal giving Liverpool a kicking at Anfield. 3-1 up now after 35 min or so. That brilliant Brazilian kid Martinelli with another 2 tonight.
-
barely heard Trezeguet's name mentioned.
Not been good... wrong decisions
-
You can see why Lansbury isn't getting into the 1st team
-
Trez is playing with a club foot. Every pass so far hit too hard
-
or El Ghazi
-
Luis looks alright
-
SCORRRRRRRRRCHIOOOOOOOOOOO
-
Davis hasn't put a foot wrong. Great hold up play.
-
Good goal eag
-
Awful keeping there, but who cares
-
Lansbury to AEG.
-
great ball by lansbury then 1 0
-
Brill! ;D
-
Have that #levelhampton!!
-
or El Ghazi
well what do I know!
-
Davis hasn't put a foot wrong. Great hold up play.
His first controls in the first 10 ball bounced far off him. Since gone deeper and done better
-
Great ball from Lansbury to EG.
-
Nice finish for our goal by El Ghazi
-
Luiz driving play forward... very good no 6 atm
-
or El Ghazi
well what do I know!
To be fair this is what AEG does, he'll be anonymous for ages and then play a killer pass or take a chance and you wonder how good he could be if he was more consistent. The same is true of Hourihane and Lansbury as well.
-
some nice footy tonight so far
-
I think Lansbury is a decent player, but have to temper that with the knowledge he's always ten seconds away from shattering his face on a stubborn blade of grass and being out for another six months.
-
Luiz driving play forward... very good no 6 atm
Luiz is a class act. I think him and Nakamba could be a fine pairing for us.
-
netto does a tonev
-
Houls back to his usual lack of awareness of play around him, flatfooted then overrun, ending with dangerous fk
-
We have little end product for all our possession. Glad we took the lead but we’ve been blunt aside from that. We need striker depth badly.
-

His injury record isn't great but his bigger problem is that he lets too much of the game pass him by.
-
Trez dramatic try for a never-pen
-

I don't think this is down to who is up front, put Kane up there and he'd be as isolated and ineffective because the accuracy of the passing in the final 3rd isn't there. I can think of 2 good passes into the box, 1 for Trez where the defender got across and 1 for the goal.
-
Oh I lost my lovely stream... would appreciate a pm to find another!
-
or El Ghazi
well what do I know!

He’s almost the exact opposite of trez who looks much busier but has no end product. AEG is all end product.
-
Trez playing himself away from first team ...

I'd agree with that, I suspect the end product will come with Trez though, seems to be trying too hard for me, I think he's one that we'll not be able to decide on one way or another until at least the summer.

It doesn’t help that our forwards aren’t the smartest when it comes to movement either though. I don’t disagree that we don’t create a lot from midfield and we need to attack as a unit but the forwards at our club are very static.
-
everyone goes up for the corner and then........
-
HT job done so far.

My mate can’t spell! Well worth the mention.
-
Some nice football. More than enough missed tackles. Nearly there. UTV.
(Thanks for the links - you know who you are)
-
Luiz looked very box to box to me against Man City too.
-
No job is half done
Though promising it maybe
More is yet to come

Are the away fans in the North Stand?

That’s like those Japanese poems that I’ve forgotten the name for.
-
A very composed first half, did very well.
-
Are the away fans in the North Stand?
Yes. They are entitled to 10% of the ground apparently.

I agree with you, paul and mossman.
I like watching them both, though they're frustrating as hell at times!

Yes. They are entitled to 10% of the ground apparently.
Imagine 10,000 of them at Camp Nou explaining their world domination plans to the locals. Well jeal.
-
when Trez going to produce something?
-
Have Realverhampton shown us #levels yet?

Indeed. I know we are leading 1-0, but they are just toying with us.

I must say, the way they go on, I was expecting alot more from their kids. I thought their kids were supposed to be far superior to any of our squad, or something like that?
On a serious note, I think their kids have done ok. Sanderson looks a good prospect.

To be fair, I was probably being unfair there. As clubs with similar stature and history, I understand that Wulvs have a lot of respect for Barcelona.
-
Come on Villa, concentrate don't cock it up in the first minute
-
KD down injured
-
Who's the captain tonight. Can't see an arm band on any Villa player.
-
Seems to have strained his hamstring.
-
Looks like he going off in tears
-
Ffs that’s massive if it’s has hamstring.
-
Christ, that's our forward options totally fucked then.
He looks really upset, which makes me wonder if it is something serious.
-
Who's the captain tonight. Can't see an arm band on any Villa player.
Elmo
-
Bollocks, hope it's not a nasty one but when a player stays down like that it's usually because they know something has gone.
-
Kodj is back.
-
bad blow for KD
-
Our own stupid fault. We’re lucky jimmy is available. In the highly likely event he gets crocked again then we’re fucked till January.
-

A few have looked decent but the 2 best young players tonight, for me, have been Luiz and Konsa.
-

Elmo
-
What is it about us? Wolves haven’t had a major injury for three years. We get one every week.
-
Jesus. Liverpool 4 - Arsenal 4
-
If (big if) he can stay fit then I do actually think JD is a better option off the bench than Davis.
Nothing against Davis, just gives us more variety and a bit of unpredictability.
-
That's sad to see. I hope Keinan will be ok.
Trezeguet to get his goal tonight, hopefully.
-
trez again makes the wrong pass
-
1-1
-

I agree, as long as Jimmy is up for it, and why shouldn't he be? A chance to show his ability before moving on in the summer on a free.
-
FFS.
Think we're going to have to get McGinn on, too casual at 1-0.
-
ffs villa
-
Rubbish
-
That was a really shit one to give away.
-
Looks like a foul on Elmo to me.
-
Bad mistake
-
Konsa did badly there.
-
We really do gift so many goals.
-
Poor defending. Not close enough to their men in the box.
-
SCORRRRRRRRRCHIOOOOOOOOOOO
-
4 -5 arse
-
Surely offside.
-
elmo 2 1
-
There we are. Elmo!
-
Love Elmo
-
That Wolves goal woke us up.
-
What a time to get a phone call, missed all 2nd so far
-
Been watching the game in the background.....
From what I've seen Lansbury has been fairly useful with the ball. What's the general view on him tonight overall?
-
Surely offside.
Where's VAR when you need it!!
-
Yeah we were starting to look too loose and overconfident. Need a professional job now, no dramas.
-
We nearly fuck up again
-
Neil Taylor, the latest iteration of pointy AVFC players
-
well done steer
-
Steer with great one on one save, our defence looks a bit clueless without our first choices out there really. Cutrone giving them a bit of the runaround. Luiz needs to be taken off.
-
Surely offside.
Couldn't clearly see from where I am, but it did look offside.
-
I must say, the way they go on, I was expecting alot more from their kids. I thought their kids were supposed to be far superior to any of our squad, or something like that?
On a serious note, I think their kids have done ok. Sanderson looks a good prospect.
A few have looked decent but the 2 best young players tonight, for me, have been Luiz and Konsa.
Luiz is easy our best player tonight, but he's far too casual in possession at times. Certainly improvement to be made.
-
I think it was offside. Even if it was only his right foot, Cutrone was offside.
-
Real engine on Luiz
-
Kodjia looks bang up for this. Great run there
-
I'm not sure I agree, there's been a couple of lapses but our defence has been well on top for most of the game. Our defence (all of them) have bags of ability but do have a slight tendency to be a bit casual at times and sometimes lose their concentration. Taylor is the weak link because he is also far too poor in possession but getting rid of the small mistakes would make a huge difference, that's the challenge for the coaches and players.
-
El Ghazi is still on? Thought he'd been subbed at half time.
-
We need to take the sting out of this.
-
Come on you Villa boys!
-
How has Lansbury played?
-
Commentator "it won't necessarily be a debut for him" what the fuck does that even mean, he's either already played or he hasn't .

we may not be watching the same stream. :D
On the game, that was a great cross from Taylor and unlucky not to be our 3rd.

You're obsessed with him!

It means the commentator is a saft ******.

How has Lansbury played?
Well he's got 2 assists, I think? Other than that not much, Hourihane's been quiet too.

It means the commentator is a saft c***.
Did you hear in the first half the Wolves fans did that piss taking chanting Villa in a high pitched voice thing, and the commentator started talking about how it was so high pitched and it might be because it's half term week and there are more kids in the ground than usual?
-
Luiz is a very good player.
-
AEG with good defensive work
-
Luiz is a very good player.
I wish Jack wouldn't call him Louise though

Can we once just once have a decent Fcukin corner?!

Ran back from the other end and prevented a goal. Surprised by the run
-
Luiz is a very good player.
Absolutely. He’s so nice to watch. That turn and pass a minute ago #drool
-
Did the get Neto on the cheap?
-
Has he bought McGinn on?
-
Luiz is a very good player.
Said at start of season him and Wesley are the key players to how well we do this season.
-
Can we once just once have a decent Fcukin corner?!
It's been a couple of decades for sure!
-
Did the get Neto on the cheap?
He’s really Lidl don’t you think?

AEG with good defensive work
That was brilliant. All that work to kick it out yourself. Wonderful stuff.

I wondered that.

No problem

Quarter finals await

Wolves will have to settle for just the treble this season.
