We go again. A game and a competition we should absolutely be looking to win. I don't want to see too many changes, but I imagine there will. However some players like Wesley need to play to maintain scoring momentum. He was dropped for Crewe just after scoring against Everton and didn't score again until yesterday.
I'll go for 2-1 to us
STEER
ELMO
TARGETT
KONSA
HAUSE
HOURIHANE
LUIZ
MARVELOUS
TREZEGUET
LANSBURY
WESLEY

I'm not buzzing just yet... but I will be. ;D
-
Wouldn’t it be nice for Smith to try something other than 4 3 3.
-
I put up some wallpaper the other day that looked great in the shop, but when I got it on the living room wall, it really didn't work with the curtains. Had no choice but to knock all the walls down and start again. ::)

3-0 Villa.

Haha. I know mate. It's been a long day after yesterday. But I do think we will beat Brighton.

Was excitement, not disbelief! I think we can beat them too, and I am looking forward to the seaside!

Id like to see him try a 4 2 3 1 with Luiz and Marvelous and Conor but where Id have SJM in the prem Id rest him for this and bring Henri in .
Davis
Lansbury Conor Trez
MArvel Luis
targett HAuse Konsa Elmo

You'd think after starting so many of these that TV would know to add a poll, but no, I have to do it for the lazy bugger.
-
1-1 FT and we win on pens.
-
As well as needing a shake up , this time there must be a genuine desire by players and nod from the gaffer to let them know that they CAN play themselves into Saturdays starting 11.
Next saturdays starting 11 should see a centre back dropped, a central midfielder dropped and start Keinan , they’re the best options we’ve got

Why would you drop Wesley?
It’s not like he’s been wasting clear cut chances all the time and he’s now at one goal in three Prem games, which is about average for a Prem striker ( 12 / 13 goals a season ).
He’s shown if we play the ball to him properly, he’ll convert.
-
Steer
Elmo Konsa Hause Targett
Doug Nakamba Connor
Jota Davis Trez
1-0 win
-
Wesley can be rested for this one. Along with Jack, he's one of two players we absolutely can't risk getting injured. Assuming Targett, Chester and Kodjia still not fit I'd expect something like...
Steer
Elmo (c)
Konsa
Engels
Hause
Jota
Hourihane
Luiz
Lansbury
El Ghazi
Davis
I think we might have more strength in depth than Brighton. I expect them to rest most of their team and hope our backups can beat theirs.

Fed up seeing gesticulating arms being thrown around and fists banging the turf. It’s the premiership son, get up fight on with that claret and blue shirt on

Brighton to win on Spot Kicks as the Pressure mounts

I think if both teams put out their strongest line ups it would be a draw. If, as I suspect both teams rotate their squads I think our squad is stronger than theirs.

Chance for a morale boost ahead of the weekend.
-
Can’t see anything other than wholesale changes given the Burnley fixture is looking increasingly important. It’ll probably only be one of Trez or El Ghazi that starts from yesterday’s team - likely Trezeguet given El Ghazi played the full ninety.
Imagine it will be - Steer; Elmo, Konsa, Hause, Targett; Luiz, Hourihane, Lansbury; Jota, Trezeguet, Davis.
I have no idea what the likely Brighton second team is like at all. Don’t think we will see too many goals though.

Brighton team from the last round, a 2-1 win away to Bristol Rovers.

Come on Villa, get a win here to set us up nicely for the weekend. Even a nervy win on pens will do!
-

I’m taking a stand with the other proletariat. Make you upper crusts do your bit.
-
Here's hoping the whole game remains 11 vs 11.
-
It's our year. 2-0.
-
I’d like a formation change to see what we can do with a different style of play.
-
Kodjia available for selection.
-
Is he? I thought Dean Smith said before Arsenal that he was only doing non-contact training for a few weeks?

I don't know enough about Brighton to know whether that's their full strength of backup squad. I've heard of Murray, Mooy and Gross (dunno how to do the German letter).

Connolly is a young kid from Galway with a bit of potential. If he does play would be interested from those at the game how he does?
-
Have seen our second stream a couple of times and not convinced. Brighton for me (my head says)
-
We've played our second stream (sic) once and we won six-one.
-
isnt Webster the former Bristol City centre half they wanted £35m for ?
-
Yeah, it is.
He does look a good player to be fair. Think the business we did on the defence is beginning to look very astute though, so seems very much the correct decision for us not to pursue signing him at that price (if we were indeed interested)
-
2-0 Villa, win the league cup and stay up 👍
-
No telly coverage by the look of it
-
I don't understand how it's legal for VAR to be at some games and not others.
Villa win after 90 minutes I reckon(/hope!).
We are so overdue for a League Cup.
-
Honestly think that if we give this our best shot and go on a decent cup run it will do us the world of good elsewhere
-
I completely agree.
-
I reckon 1-1 draw and a Villa win 5-4 on pens I've never been to Brighton so I'm looking forward to going to this match hopefully we get the win.
-
Man City started Sterling and Silva in the game tonight vs Preston. No reason why we shouldn’t have a mix of first team players and reserves tomorrow against a PL opponent.
-
I've watched Maupay a few times this season and happy we did not sign him.

Could you not have waited to provide this insight? Preferably till after he's retired?
-
Play a full strength team and hopefully a much needed win under our belts. No messing about with a weakened team just a few games into the season please.

Your'll have goals as they go in on the Sky Sports news channel and the goal and match highlights on the Sky Sports football YouTube channel ,And Sky sports website and app ( you don't even need to be a subscriber to access these match highlights goals )
As well as the highlights on tv channel quest. I hope this can come some way to satisfying your viewing needs .
Better than nowt but would like to have watched it live so to speak.
Thanks for replying

34 tickets left if anyone wants to make a last minute dash.
-
Starting the leisurely drive down shortly. Starting to get excited, hoping we put in a good performance and show what we are capable of after Sunday.
-
If I'm Deano - I'm starting Hause at LB, Lansbury and Hourihane in midfield, Davis up front; looking them square in the eye and telling them there's places up for grabs on Saturday.
UTV.
-
If we think its the formation then he needs to change it but keep the 1st team intact so they get used to it
If we think it is the personnel then he keeps formation and changes personnel
To change both will be wrong in my opinion
-
Come on Villa boys! A nice run in the cup would be great.
The game tonight should be an opportunity for some fringe players to force their way into the 1st team and make it difficult for Deano to drop them. UTV!
-
a win please Villa :)

Yep. If this happens again, and they have a man sent off and we throw away a win, will teams "get one of their players sent off" so they have a better chance? ::)
Anyway, I'm going for 1 - 0 to us.
( And VAR to explode when they realise that they need to give something in our favour. - though I dont think VAR is used in this comp )

Struggling to muster much enthusiasm for this, truth be told.

Same. I want a cup run. It'd be nice, but honestly, my mind is already on the burnley game which is basically a 6 pointer already. Given we've been blowing out our arse in the last couple of games too, 3 games in a week isn't ideal. I'd have much preferred this game to be happening next week, ideally off the back of winning against Burnley, and having a bit of pressure off.
If we hadn't pissed away the Arsenal game I'd have been looking forward to this a little more.
-
I want us to win a game again. We’re coming close and falling short and that’s frustrating to everyone. Brighton are gash and they will likely have a weakened team out tonight. I just want us to win and enjoy that feeling again. It’s a massive period of games for us that if we can get through it before we hit the ones vs Man City and Liverpool will put us in a decent spot in the cup and league. We need to start tonight.
-
We need to get into a winning habit, this is the value opportunity I see in this game.
-

I'd be happy with those inclusions, would love a win.
-
4-0 Villa.
-
Can't find any in my usual haunts so I will assume not, but does anyone know if there'll be a stream anywhere? I would be grateful to be directed towards one if so!
-
Not stressed, my mind is already on the Burnley game. But of course would love a win.

It's a good chance for us to win something this season so I want to see us go as far as we can.
-
I’m really hoping for that as well.
And the League.
Just, get it together, Villa.🤞
-
A convincing win with full strength squad to get our season underway
-
Well I was wrong about Kodjia.
