Title: Mike Ferguson
Post by: Oscar Arce on September 02, 2019, 11:20:27 AM
Sadly Mike passed away last week aged 76.
I remember him as a clever midfielder, a great dribbler, signed from Blackburn by Tommy Cummings after a great display against us at Villa Park, used sparingly by Docherty, who sold him to QPR where he did well.
RIP Fergie.

Remember him well.
In his early playing days he was at Accrington Stanley when they had to pack up.
I think the Doc grouped him together with the likes of Dick Edwards, Barrie Hole as dressing room troublemakers when the wheels came off at the start of season 1969/70.
RIP

I think he played in the first Villa win I ever saw, 1-0 v Middlesbrough in 1968-69. That was enough to make me like him.

He was a very skilful player, though a bit overweight to my eyes. Wasn't he involved with Godfrey, Hole and Edwards in drinking before a game?

Mike's funeral was the other day, with representations and messages from all of his former clubs, apart from Villa apparently.
