Title: August fixtures: Next 3 Games.
Post by: Footy-Vill on August 14, 2019, 08:32:37 AM
This is the time when Villa will be well placed to take on a more attacking aggressive, tactical forward mode -especially with 2 matches at Villa Park.
What are your current thoughts on the August Premier League fixtures up to the international break?

My Result/ Points prediction for August are as follows.

Bournemouth (h) W
Everton (h) D
Crystal Palace (a) W
WDW 7PTS

I'm hopeful of Villa having 2/3 wins in August and remaining undefeated at home.

Allez Allez Allez.

I will reserve judgement till I see how we get on against Bournemouth, it's really hard to determine this with very little to go on.

I would expect most teams will raise their game against the top teams, as we have done in previous seasons, but then fall backwards for other more winnable games.  So let's see how we do on Saturday.

This can only go one way - 3 straight defeats and impending doom and implosion as predicted by the all seeing and knowing Oracle that is Talk Sport.

These threads never go well. 😢

Which is why I stopped doing them after the disaster of Jan/Feb. I didn’t do one for March and look what happened.

Well, according to that idiot on TalkSport, if Tyrone Mings was any good then Bournemouth wouldn't have sold him.  So we can infer from this that clubs only sell players who are shit, so everyone we've just bought is a load of crap, despite any evidence to the contrary.

So I'm off to put my house on Villa never winning another game, ever.  ;D

Bournemouth are generally not a good away team and Palace are just not a good team full stop. I think we will win those two. I would take a point against Everton, although who knows as Everton are a bit Jeckyll & Hyde.

Don't do this FFS!

Someone always has to do this, lists the next few fixtures, predicts we'll do extremely well, only for us embark on a slump.

Crystal Palace and Everton both looked very average against each other in their first game of the season. Similarly Bournemouth weren’t particularly impressive against Sheff Utd. If we play well and all our new players start to gel then we could win all 3 games...if only football was that simple!

Anyone following Villa over the years is more than aware we do not do as predicted.

Anyone following Villa over the years is more than aware we do not do as predicted.

So if you're predicting we aren't going to do as predicted, isn't that a prediction and therefore we are going to do exactly as predicted?

Now my brain has gone funny like it does when I try to imagine the nothingness before the universe.

I think we will win the Bournemouth game but no idea about the other two. Those are the ones that can go either way. So I will guess we will lose one and get something from the other.

Agree, no one got all last 13 games correct last year so no point starting it this year yet

I would love to say 9 points I'm feeling optimistic so that's what I will say three wins out of three.

Just noticed we only have 3 league games in each of Sept Oct and Nov, then bizarrely 7 in Dec. So we might be getting more of these threads.

Lets work hard and go unbeaten in the next 2 and get back on track. If we can beat Everton or Palace that would be great. Everton is a very tough game on paper though, but I think if we can focus and cut out needless errors that'll change results for us in a big way. We've gifted two victories. Generally we look quite good defensively, we just need to cut the individual mistakes.

It's at the other end we need to be a bit more clinical. We could do with an in off the arse 1-0 win that's as rough as Ian Dowies face. Any win. Giving a good account of yourself and losing gets you nowhere.

I think Everton will come for the draw so we could be in for a dour match - our lack of firepower up front is potentially going to leave us struggling this season ......I'm going for a 0-0 Friday and followed by a 1-1 at Palace
Two points on the board .....just another 38 to scramble :(

Why would Everton  come to a bottom of the league, newly promoted, lost 2 on the bounce  for a draw?

Why would Everton  come to a bottom of the league, newly promoted, lost 2 on the bounce  for a draw?
Because that is the way they set up away from home - most of the Evertonians I know tend to agree - it's only two games in but they've not been overly impressed with the performances but have points on the board unlike us where fans have been happy with the performances and we have zilch ...it's a funny old game :)

So they have gone full circle back to Moyes Everton.

They're never happy are they, Everton fans? I can barely remember a time when they weren't moaning. Miserable gits.

Pundits at the weekend saying Everton should be competing for top 6 this year with all the money they’ve spent in recent seasons (totalling over £400m). From what I’ve seen of them so far this season, they still look bang average with bang average players. They are mid table at best, and if we can get our front 5 working then no reason why we can’t take 3pts on Friday.

Spot on.  Their away form was pretty poor last year as well.  Lost to Brighton, Southampton, Newcastle and Fulham on their travels, amongst others.
