Title: Loanwatch 2019/20
Post by: go on the dog on July 12, 2019, 04:05:30 PM
Lewis Brunt signing for Carlisle on loan, is he as good as O'Hare?

I don't know tbh. It does seem odd that Carlisle are after another Villa player yet haven't shown any interest in acquiring Aaron Pressley, their manager's son, from us.

Possibly he doesn't want a situation similar to the Lampard one at Westham where some of the fans just thought he was being picked due to nepotism, making Lampard an easy target for the boo boys.

I think Lewis Brunt is a fabulous talent and am not surprised that Pressley, who watched a lot of Villa Youth games at Bodymore before getting the job at Carlisle, went for him.
He is one year out of the Youth Team so about as young as anyone gets loaned out.  Villa signed him on a Long term deal last season and then He got a bad injury which limited his end of season.
He plays in Midfield and is a very good passer of the ball. He is also well over 6ft tall so good in the air and very quick when He gets into his stride.
I think Brunt, Walker, Mungo Bridge and Jay Ramsey were all outstanding U18 players last season.  Thought Revan stalled a bit, but He might kick on again this year.

Maybe being in the first squad for a few games messed with Revan's head a bit?

He didn't play any games in the Youth Team last season that I watched (Academy League)
He was an U18 but played all his Football in the U23s.  It is a step up and He was alright but not outstanding.

As the Wolves fans would say "It's all about levels"

Of that lot I think Ramsey in particular looks a special talent.

On reading the thread title I thought this was about us signing another Brentford player.

I'm slightly disappointed in JDH's development so far. Just before Deano's first game I tried to sound smart in the pub by predicting he'd start in the midfield and kick on. I know he was out at Cambridge for part of last season but I think he picked up an injury as he didn't play much.

Pressley is nothing special.

Yep, hoping Andre the Green Giant has a good season and is able to stake a claim for next season.

I see Blackett-Taylor has been sent of for Tranmere tonight.  Is he on loan there or was he released?  Whichever it was, the Tranmere fans must be wondering what we feed 'em on down here as he's the second Villa man they've had sent off playing for them this season after the Russian's shennanigans.

He has left Villa.

Yes, the Russian is back on the bench tonight.  Blackett-Taylor got a straight red so he's gone for three games.

Dunno about Blackett-Taylor as he has only just been sent off. Hepburn-Murphy was banned for three games and is back tonight, he's just come on as sub but they're down to nine men so have their work cut out.

Blackett-Taylor looks quite a big unit and literally sent the Bristol Rovers player flying with his push (possibly to the head).

Callum O’Hare is going on loan to Coventry as of tomorrow I am lead to believe. Division up from Carlisle last season.

Preston were very impressive against  Stoke last night.  Andre will learn a lot from his stay with them.

It looks like Callum O'Hare stirred things up a bit at Coventry today, setting up two chances and then scoring the winner in injury time. Didn't he do the same last week too?

Coventry fans. Go from singing shit on the Villa to celebrating a Villa player scoring a winner for their team at The Sty. We have a permanent spot in their collective conscience. They secretly want to be us, hate that they have to hate us and especially when our players make them happy.

He scored what everyone thought was the winner last week in injury time but the opposition (Oxford?) scored a last-gasp equaliser.

Yeah, he’s doing well for them, I think he’s a cracking little player and I really hope he continues to develop and gets his chance with us soon.

Surprised to see how little game time Andre green is getting at Preston.  Pleased for o’hare Still have my doubts s about him but so did many about the likes of Cahill, albrighton etc, as for Hepburn not hitting the running but let’s wait and see

It is lovely, to be honest.  I tried to tell a Cov fan I know how nice it was, but he’s a millennial so he didn’t understand and just said all Cov kits are awesome...  :(

Was talking to a Cov fan yesterday about Callum. They love him and  can't believe that he is in their team. Let's hope this loan turns out a bit like Jack at Notts County.

Jake Doyle-Hayes seems to be doing well at Cheltenham too.

Scored his first goal for them on Tuesday evening and was voted their player of the month for August.

It's weird re the Russian, I thought the last twenty minutes of the game on Monday night when they went down to ten we were crying out for a player like him to come on. Stretch them with his pace and technical ability. He's not yet been given a run of starts at Tranmere, probably paying the penalty for a silly sending off on his debut but it's odd to think he would be more useful as an option on our beach than for a League One team.

Andre Green didn't get much game time at Portsmouth but ended up playing a role for us last season.

Not ideal that he is not getting many minutes at the moment. Admittedly I don’t know much about how Tranmere or how they play, but I would assume, given the competent staff we now have, that is was expected he would play more than he currently has.
Like you say, that red card almost certainly didn’t help, but he has hardly played since and their results haven’t been great.

When you look at Kenian Davis, who is only six months older I think, he  hasn’t developed as hoped so far and has probably paid the price for us not having the right manager and staff in place previously to oversee and aid the younger players development (with first team  minutes or making  sure they get good loans etc)

Really pleased to see Sarkic at Livingston getting regular starts, making good saves and plainly making progress. A win against an admittedly 10-man Celtic will help a lot as well. Good lad.

Was that not his first league start of the season, Allan?

Glad he did well all the same.
