Title: Cubs/Clarets membership
Post by: mike on June 13, 2019, 10:01:18 AM
I've been trying for weeks to get through to the ticket office to enquire about memberships so that my daughter can get in for the release of next year's tickets but the number either rings off straight away or rings for a while and then rings off. Obviously, it's busy today but, as i say, I've been trying for weeks now. Has anyone managed to get through or know when next year's memberships will go on sale?

The club are just saying 'soon' to everything at the moment.

I can't understand why season tickets were not back on sale the day after the final.  They've really missed a trick there and seems very much what I'd have expected from previous regimes not our current supposedly astute forward thinking set up.

I gave up and rang the main desk. Apparently my mistake was entering option 2 (for cubs and claret membership) when I should have pressed 1 for season ticket membership... even though I'm enquiring about cubs/clarets membership. Obvious really.

Anyhoo, it appears there may or may not be a cubs membership system and it may or may not be in place in time for me to get my children a ticket for the first home game. So when my children get home excited from school tonight and ask about going to the first home game, I can give them the encouraging answer of 'maybe.'

It's an absolute shambles.  Just shows that not everything the new regime has brought is in very good.

I've been looking at this on the official site. Does Claret membership get you next in queue for away tickets after season ticket holders?

It did last season, and gave you priority access to home tickets. The away sales might be different this season, with smaller allocations and more season ticket holders.

Yes the Claret membership gave members priority for ticket sales, including Wembley.

Thanks both. I'll probably sign up for a chance of tickets for the London/Brighton/Watford games.

When available of course.

I've just bought a Claret membership. I'm not sure I'll be at any games other than Everton this season but I thought I'd better get one now just in case.

It feels a bit like purchasing an 'express' ticket for Top of the Rock or 'fast-track' entrance to Madame Tussaud's. Except I may not be going to New York or London.

Very glad I did that the week before last, the queues were horrendous, and it was sweltering in there.

Yep. Someone posted about this yesterday on the season ticket holder thread. No one needs the pack at the games so no big deal if they are dispatched late.

Fair points & I got £10 off the Bournemouth ticket for the Holte, (£23 instead of £33) which was applied when booking. Not all bad then but if this had been a S/T delay it would have been a different story !

What are you expecting in the pack?  There was nothing in season ticket packs other than the cards.

Only what was described in the on-line "membership information" so not a biggie just curious really as thought it would have arrived after the e-mail I received on 9/8 advising me it was in the post !

Do we not need the cards to accrue points as part of the Rewards scheme?

I think the principle of buying something in early June and not receiving it until late August is just a bit poor too.

I agree and sorry I wasn't trying to be arsey, I just thought the majority of benefits were essentially on line so was not sure what would come in a 'pack' that didn't come with season tickets.

But yes - if Claret membership includes an e=cash card and you want to accrue points by bying stuff at the stadium then you will need the card and you will need to pre-load money onto it (look out for a pin with the card when delivered as you need this first time you use it).  The points for buying a pie and a pint will be pretty minimal though, but will certainly add up if you are looking at kits etc.

It was the same last year. I had to chase them up to get my lad's pack. It's only a few bits of tat, but they love that kind of crap. The person I spoke to seemed to think I was a complete arsehole for expecting it within three months of purchase. Plus, there was no guarantee of actually getting the gift... try explaining that to a 7 year old. Having said that, ticket office staff were great with me and gave me the gift without the voucher and it was a lot better quality than I expected.

Posted something about the club shop in another thread, but have had a similar experience this summer with the club membership.  It's bad enough to not get something within a reasonable timeframe, but to get attitude when trying to chase it up it extremely frustrating.

That's life in general though. It's about proximity.

Think about how different most conversations would go face to face, as opposed to on line forums. 😉

I would absolutely agree- I've had a fair amount of arbitrary fees avoided (I'm a long time STH) just by asking for common sense. We've got some good people working there

OK - now I am annoyed.

I have bought a claret membership for Mr Amfy and a cubs membership for my nephew.

I wanted to get 2 tickets for the Burnley game.

Last season when you need to re-assign tickets to someone in your network the drop down box gave you the names of the people you are connected with. So tonight, I was going to go into the West Ham game to find out the references, then log in using one of their references to buy them tickets.

Turns out the drop down box now requires you to know their fan ID - which I don’t, because we haven’t had the packs yet.

.....& as its only online from 5pm and the ticket office is closed there is no way of sorting this before tomorrow, when no doubt any remote chance of anything near us will have gone!

I signed up a few weeks ago and the discount was applied to my Everton ticket but there was the option to remove it and use it on another eligible game.
Regarding your issue Amfy, I got mine and another members West Ham tickets during the week and his details were stored in the drop down box.
Title: Re: Cubs/Clarets membership
Post by: amfy on August 30, 2019, 06:56:56 PM
I’m not getting that - the drop down box is giving me options of ‘family’ ‘friends’ or ‘other’ but when Inpress those nothing happens. Then when I press re-assign it gives me a search function that requires the fan ID - which I don’t know!

I’ll have another go & see if something different happens. I have tried searching my emails for the membership confirmations but I can’t find them either!
Title: Re: Cubs/Clarets membership
Post by: amfy on August 30, 2019, 08:25:42 PM
Got it! Not even sure how! It wasn’t letting me into the Burnley game because as a season ticket holder I’m not eligible yet, & we didn’t have full accounts set up for the others so we were stuck.

Then, for some reason it suddenly let me into the Burnley game, & on the Burnley game the drop down DID give me the names of my linked people, it still wouldn’t on the West Ham game though - mysterious!

Got tickets online for Burnley today as a claret member. However for second time in succession it would only allow me to get the £10 discount against one of my 4 family members.
No card or packs delivered 10 weeks after paying and still the website not working discounts correctly is very disappointing.
For all that is being put right around the club , there are still lots of commercial / fans pr to put right

Maybe so, and I get that a deal is a deal.  However, what kind of things are you expecting to obtain in your welcome pack, that might add real value to the obvious advantage of better access to match tickets and £10 off your first one?

I’d like to be able to find the reference numbers easily for when I want to buy tickets  - I honestly don’t know what the fan IDs are for the 2 memberships I have added in my family & it makes trying to buy tickets pretty convoluted tbf!

I’d also like to be able to load the card with money so I can earn reward points by spending money at the match or in the shop. (Well not me & my memberships because I do that on my season ticket so I get all the points right now - but people who don’t have a nearby season ticket to do load up)

These are simply things that you are supposed to have as part of the deal. they’ve actually only got to send out a bit of plastic to achieve them.

You cant as it works by contactless payment, although the first time you use it you have to actually insert the card into the machine and enter a pin, once you have entered the pin the first time it is contactless after that.

Sorry if his has been covered previously but has anyone with a claret membership bought Virgin train tickets using the 20% discount offer yet? I believe you need a membership card which I've not received.

I'm pretty sure you just put in your fan ID number when buying online (from what I can gather).

Booking train tickets seems fine but I think the terms on the Virgin website say that you also need proof of membership when travelling which I've not received yet.

Still not received anything after 10 weeks. Missed out on points accumulated at first home game. Was only allowed to claim 1 out of 4 of us getting £10 discount for those tickets. They said it would be sorted. However the ones for Burnley game have presented the same issue. I have tweeted the club and support Id on twitter over a week ago and not a sniff of reply , explanation or apology .
Customer service is absolutely appalling currently

I bought three the day they went on sale for me and my two sons, in one transaction. Mine and one sons came before the season started. The other son’s still waiting. Surely it would be easier to send all three at once, rather than splitting the transaction.
They make hard work of relatively simple issues. It’s like a small cottage industry, instead of an internationally known business.

Well, I obtained claret membership on Saturday morning, took a few minutes.  A few minutes later I had my ticket for the Burnley game, with my £10 off.  Well pleased.  The pack of 'goodies' I'm happy to wait for, this not being something that I am bothered about.

Regardless of whether you're bothered or not the time it's taken to sort  people's memberships is piss poor by any standards
I totally agree.....had this been any other organization I would be screaming for my money back

It's what clubs count on. The handling of the memberships is every bit as shambolic as the catering or the stock management in the club shop. A business that relied on those income streams would go bust if they were run as poorly as ours are.

Nobody ever swapped football teams because the operations are a piss poor though, so they're on to a winner.  I wonder how much money stuff like this costs the club though.

Not had mine yet. Weren’t you supposed to use the card when purchasing anything in the ground, food drinks etc to give you some kind of reward points or am I missing the point? I got mine purely to get the chance to buy tickets. If true and we’re nearly at the third home game it’s all a bit shoddy.

Trying to purchase a drink in the Holte Suite is hard enough without one of the ‘bar staff’ putting some kind of points on a reward card.

It’s just like contactless. You load money onto it from your debit card & then just use it at the ground like it was your debit card. Doesn’t take any extra time to be served.

It’s shit isn’t it. I’m in it mainly for access to tickets so fair enough, not much impact, but my daughter is excited about the swag and for her a few months may as well be 1,000 years.

Just a daft missed opportunity because it could and should have been a nice source of positive vibes and engagement with fans rather than something vaguely annoying and half assed feeling.

Got the gifts at the Swansea game last year, they hadn't been around for long before. If we're lucky we may see them for the Burnley game. I hope it's by Brighton as I can actually get to that one.

Reply from ticket office:

Quote from: Ticket sales AVFC
We are very sorry for the delays in sending out membership cards. Unfortunately, we have had problems with printing the cards due to the unprecedented demand we have experienced. The matter has now been resolved and the membership packages are being compiled and dispatched in the coming days. We are prioritising those who have been waiting longest. In the meantime, you can still use the ticket voucher benefit of the membership as this will have been linked to your fan ID upon sign-up.

There is a pack with a football, a pump, a water bottle (I think) and something else, which escapes me at the moment, but they don't send it to you with the card.

You have to either go and pick it up from the Villa Store - and this is possible only at certain times - or pay, I think, £5 (It was £10 for me as it has to be posted overseas) and send in the voucher you receive in the pack, with the Fan ID written on it.

Other than that, there are four match tickets included too.

The thing that jumped out at me for that is there's now even different tiers for Claret members based on booking history.

It's great we're selling out every game, but you do have to wonder about the long term impacts of it being impossible for floating fans to get a ticket.

Not all claret members can even get a ticket, so we've gone way over 9k.

The latest response to an e-mail from me  -

We apologise for the delays in sending out membership cards. We have experienced persistent printing problems, but these have since been resolved. Printing and delivery has been well underway for some days now - we are prioritising those that have been waiting longest. We have thousands to get through, but our team are working hard to get these out as quickly as possible. I am unable to put a date on when this will be delivered to you, as it is a manual process.

In the meantime, you can still access tickets in the members' sale window and use the ticket voucher benefit of your membership card, as these benefits are linked to your fan ID rather than the physical card.

We're sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience in the meantime.

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Kind regards,

Rob

Oh yes. My son was delighted to be Part of the Pride a couple of seasons ago. It cemented him in though, he could have ended up at Palace. His first ever game was a friendly at Palace - they were crap, but he came away interested. I realised that not only did I need to get him to the villa but that it wasn't much pricier than Palace, even with the train fare from Croydon included. His second game was the 3 0 thumping at Fulham in 2018. He had to stand on the seat to see, but his Part of the Pride hoody sealed it and he wouldn't support anyone else now. My daughter got in on the action last year.

4 months to the day, my card turns up. Exciting times. Am I right in thinking it's little more than a pre-paid card that the club are pushing in the hopes they can profit from people putting cash on to it then never spending it?

I expected slightly more from a 'welcome pack' than a card that'll never be used, and a letter for the recycling.

It had a sticker last year and a pin badge the year before. Lost the pin badge but the stickers still adorn my fridge, oven and dishwasher! My wife won't let them near the windows or the car!

You know, replying to an email without reading said email and answering a question that has not been asked. Then when having this pointed out, claiming that they have read the email and going onto demonstrate that they haven’t.

My kids cards arrived a few weeks ago but we only got around to collecting the bags today.  We were quite impressed - until my daughter put some water in her water bottle, got it wet, and saw the Villa badge come away.  She's a bit disappointed now.

This is why on wondered why people were getting so worked up about how long they were taking.  We've known for a while it's the card only and the benefits are pretty much available on-line.

Even so, I do agree that it's very poor service by the club to have taken so long.

Three months after ordering the cards they have shown up this morning …….

And what a lovely touch of customer service from the club - inside the package was a letter stating :

" We notice that you are resident on Merseyside and have not purchased a ticket for the Liverpool game at Villa Park - please accept our invitation to attend the match courtesy of the marketing team - you will be seated within  the Executive Area of the Upper Trinity - prior to the match you will receive free Corporate Hospitality and be presented with a souvenir training gear package courtesy of our kit sponsor. Post match you will have the opportunity to meet a senior member of the Executive team as well as a player. Liverpool FC have agreed to afford you with the same hospitality at Anfield in the return fixture. We hope this goes some way to compensating you for the delay in receiving your membership card"

OK the last bit was made up …… our cards have arrived :)

Our pump did pump up the football. The football itself is really nice.
The bag is great for swimming & judo.
The water bottle is still watertight.

Guess we are lucky.

I am also delighted that the Villa hoodie I bought him at the same time as we went to collect his pack doesn’t appear to have been off his back since - he is wearing it in every photo I see of him!

Small word of caution on the ecash – it's supposed to be set up so that your first transaction needs the PIN, and then all subsequent transactions don't.

Apparently Zoro, the company running the back-end bit of the process, have changed the system settings so that every fifth transaction needs the PIN. They didn't tell anyone at the club this, which didn't go down well.

It's the same on season cards. Mine's been declined the last two occasions, and it was only the manager in the Holte Pub on Saturday who told me why. He reckons loads of people have run into the same problem.

The kid's gift looks great. My lad was excited about taking his water bottle into school today but when I came to fill it up the stickers have already come off. The pumps don't work in either his or his sister's pack and the balls won't blow up. The bag itself and the captain's armband are great. Last year, their packs had stickers, a badge, a card this year, as others have said, it's a letter. In general, I think the club is doing a lot of important things right, but this cubs/claret business is a clusterfuck.

I think in theory yes, but with 30,000 season ticket holders away tikets are very unlikely to get down to Claret members.  However, Claret members have certainly managed to secure Wembley tickets in the last few years and oviously much better chance of getting tickets for any other big games too.  If I wasn't a ST holder I'd say Claret membership was a no brainer.

Strong agree. They get you first priority for those 9k odd home tickets after season tickets. Virtually no chance on aways though, I’m a ST holder with about 3 aways on my record and I struggle to get away tickets.

I bought claret membership after promotion - fantastic value, for £35, effectively allowing me to obtain tickets to four or so home games per season - good for me.  However, I'm not sure what my status actually is now, being confused by this digital membership malarkey that's been introduced more recently (which I've also signed up to, or so I believe!).

It’s all about priority Dave, after STs they get first dibs on the remaining home tickets and with pretty much sell outs of all games before we got lockdown I can see the attraction.

It's paying to jump the queue.  Bit like a fast pass at Alton Towers.  Bloody annoying when other people have them, but if you want to get to the front of the queue you've got no choice.
Title: Re: Cubs/Clarets membership
Post by: Pat Mustard on June 15, 2021, 11:31:01 AM
The Cubs membership is good value - last time it included 4 match tickets and a load of free stuff, so worth a lot more than the £25 we paid for it.  Claret membership doesn't offer much other than the right to buy tickets, but unfortunately that seems to be the way of the world now.  Virtually all teams or sporting venues where demand is likely to outstrip supply have these schemes in place.
Title: Re: Cubs/Clarets membership
Post by: Flamingo Lane on June 15, 2021, 11:33:07 AM
The £35 fee also included £10 off the first ticket you bought with the membership, so £25 really.  For those keen to be able to go to a game or games, but for whom a season ticket wasn't viable or possible, the membership was the proverbial no-brainer.

Like Alton Towers and like everywhere else it seems just another way of taking easy money from a captive audience. but as the Lactose Lothario said, that's the way of the modern world.

Cubs is split into 3 to 11 and 12 to 17. With a free version for the under 3s.

Don't think that is correct BE. If you bought in 2019, the cards issued I think expired in 2022. Mine expires 07/22. But the actual membership benefits were only for the 2019/2020 season I think.

I haven't had a reminder email. Tried to renew on website, but gives me nowhere to enter discount code for 2019/2020 membership.

Updated my membership last night. I hadn’t had any mails from the cub asking me to renew though.
£34 when you use the renewing customer code RENEWFAN20. No real incentives apart from being able to buy tickets (no money off first ticket this time) but what choice have you got?

You don't have to pay 40 quid for the right to buy a ticket. You can take your chances with general sale!

I've had a membership since championship days - bought it to get the right to buy away tickets for Fulham. Got me back into going to Villa Park after donkeys years and my lad into being a Villa fan and got us to Wembley twice. Will renew as long as the children want to come with me - they like being members.

Logged on at 17.05 to try and get 2 Brentford tickets and didn’t get on til 17.20. Not many tickets about in the Holte just singles by the time I got on. Don’t think they’ll be many left for general sale and this is only against Brentford.

Logged on for 5 pm and got 3 tickets for Newcastle and 2 for Brentford. No chance of getting these tickets together in the Holte, so am in P2 in Upper DE. I agree that not many are going to general sale this season.

I don't know of any cut off date for buying the membership, however (and I do stand to be corrected here) I think you have to be a member for 72 hours before you can buy a ticket for a game; hence, you might as well now wait until the tickets for Newcastle and Brentford go on general sale, this Friday at 5pm, to see how the ground lies before deciding whether or not a membership would be worthwhile.  For me personally, being almost solely interested in going to non-televised games being played at 3pm on a Saturday afternoon, the membership is decent value and makes it easier to plan things like train travel to a game.

Nice one. Just had a quick look at the ticket office and there’s also a 20% discount code available for anyone that had 2019/2020 membership so it should be just £32 which I think is reasonable in the grand scheme of things. I’ll be getting it sorted asap.

Agreed. Couldn’t get it to work at all on Safari, and only managed it after faffing around on Google Chrome. A few weeks later after purchasing the Claret membership on my MacBook and I have to do the whole linking digital accounts bolx to get it work on my iPhone via the AVFC app. The instructions are next to useless too, as all the link did was open another tab to send me around in circles to open the same link and open another tab again.

Yes, it looks good.  I'd got the impression there would be tiers of membership where if you paid more you had more chance of getting tickets, which I think would have been a shit way to deal with it.  But it does seem at odds with the Fab write up.

They've talked somewhere about being on the waiting list as giving some priority, so if they wanted to create a tier within membership they could say those that have been on the ST waiting list (say prior to the announcement) get first dibs before other members, though I'd wonder of that might reduce sales of membership, as you'd be only buying a 2nd tier membership.

I looked at this and thought that it potentially creates a fake ST waiting list. If you’ve paid £40 for a claret memebership, you’re not going to want to be behind someone whose just put their name on a list, so you’ll go on that list anyway, regardless of whether you want a ST.
This would apply to loads of people on here who live further away but have a claret membership just to ensure that when they are in Birmingham, they have a good chance of match tickets. They’ll be sticking their name down on that list regardless of whether they want an ST!

Just a word of warning re. auto renew for memberships. I confirmed with the club in June that we were on auto renew for our five memberships, due this last week. None of them renewed and were all showing as Expired, so we all had to renew again. Not the end of the world, but worth a check, rather than at 1701 on the first ticket window of the season.

My membership should also have auto renewed, a few days ago, but it didn't, so now I too have gone online and renewed again. It's pretty amazing really, the amateurishness of so much of the club's commercial operations, this is just another example, not massive in itself, but replicated so many times over in so many other aspects it would seem.

On auto renewals, mine didn't, like many others it seems. Years ago I bought my brother's membership which has caused problems in terms of packs being sent to me instead of him. This remains unresolved despite a call to the ticket office, as the shitshow of the website made self service impossible. So I was hoping that his wouldn't auto renew so he could get his own from now on. In fact I turned off the auto renew button to prevent it. You can guess what happened. Such an abysmal service.

Mate of mine assumed his membership would auto renew. He found out yesterday that it hadn’t when he went to check out 2 Arsenal tickets for him and his son - after waiting in an online queue for 40 mins. Although the system didn’t tell him his membership had expired, just that he couldn’t order the tickets. When he realised that it was his membership that had lapsed ( and that he thought was due to be auto renewed) he paid his membership renewal and was then told he needs to wait 72 hours before membership is activated and he can book tickets. Managed to get round it by booking tickets and assigning them to another mate who is a member bit isn’t going. £125 for an adult and under 21 in the lower Holte….

Same here Amfy- I could have sworn that membership allowed you to order tickets for games ahead of general sale. When I tried last season it came up with the same message as yours. To say I was miffed would be an understatement. My problem is that I can't find the original terms and conditions which were with the on-line application. However in the bigger scheme of things a comparatively small complaint I suppose.

Mine (for nephew & Mr Amfy) did auto renew but the website still said that neither of them could buy tickets (exceeded their allocation).
£85 on memberships that didn’t work when I wanted.
Not happy!

I've had that message before when I'm not logged in properly.

Message received re error messages:

"Thank you for your email.

We are aware of an issue affecting NFC tickets and we are working on a resolution currently.

You will receive new links to download your tickets in due course...

I received a duplicate ticket notification mail about an hour later and was able to click on add to Google Wallet; the ticket is now on my phone.

All good so far.

I was definitely logged in properly. I did it exactly as I did last season and double checked it several times whilst I was trying & failing to get tickets. It actually prompts you if you aren’t logged in properly anyway.

As a season ticket holder I can’t log in when it goes on sale to claret members, so I log in as my nephew as I hold his log in details, and then re-assign his ticket to Mike.

…..& Virgil…you don’t need the terms & conditions. Monday at 5pm was when tickets went on sale to Cubs and Claret members. It’s there in the ticket sales dates. Couldn’t be clearer & I have no idea why it didn’t work for us.

Can’t even be bothered to ring the ticket office right now because I was stretched at £55 a ticket, there’s no way I’m paying more now none of those are left.

There’s a few reasons why that can happen. The ones that may be relevant in your case are:

1) You’ve tried to allocate an adult ticket to a kids membership which it won’t allow.

2) You’ve tried to allocate a kids ticket to an adult membership which it also won’t allow.

3) You’re tried to buy a kids ticket in a part of the ground where they only allow adults (most of the central areas of Trinity and Doug Ellis).

4) You’ve tried to buy the wrong combination of adult and kids in the family area.

5) You need to allow 3 days after purchasing the membership before they become active to purchase tickets.

6) I assume you have the multiple memberships linked into one family account?

There are a few other oddities that I come across from time to time when I’m trying to purchase multiple tickets for a group of adults and kids.

The memberships are quite specific for that person and so you need to make sure you meet the exact criteria of ticket matching the correct membership.

So another example is I was buying an U14 ticket for one of my mates kid… but i didn’t realise that he was turning 14 before the match date. Got the same message about exceeding allocation and couldn’t figure out why for ages.

A quick question if anyone can advise. Ta!
I have downloaded my two Arse tickets in Trinity B2 onto Google Wallet on my phone. One is for another member. Can I forward it to them using the share function in Wallet (they have an i-Phone not an Android like me)? Or is it possible/easier to simply pass them my phone once I have scanned through?

Unless anything has changed, the other person should be able to see their ticket via the app, if they are linked. If not,you should have been sent an email, in which case, forward it on their email.

I did exactly the same as I did last season. Logged in as my nephew, wouldn’t let me buy him a ticket, re-allocated to My husband, wouldn’t let me buy him one either. That system has worked perfectly well for me for about 3 seasons but not this time.

I am on auto renew but this year I think there was a gap, & I suspect that in that gap, the ticketing and membership accounts have become unlinked.

Cheers. I can see the two tickets on my app and the other person's ticket on their app. On both apps there is no option to download or forward (this is greyed out) the ticket. It seems that the only option is to use the Wallet links in the e-mail that you are sent as you say.

Also, what if that person couldn't go? Would it be a problem if I sent the mail to another person?

Our two ticket accounts have evolved slightly. They now show "Distribute" and "Recall" buttons for our Arse tickets (but the option to select a ticket is greyed out). Plus there is no 'Reissue' option as stated. Is this some sort of Pravda Season Advent calendar type slow reveal? It is all very unintuitive, confusing, and frankly, it dissonates my cognition.

Last season there was a hugely helpful list of dates and times when tickets for each home fixture were on sale to Claret members (usually, for online sales, 5pm on a Monday evening a few weeks out from the game if I remember correctly). This was up on the villa website and some helpful would very kindly posted in on here last summer.

Does any one know if there is a similar list available on the villa site for the 24/25 season? As a Claret member this was absolutely invaluable last year and if a similar list exists for this coming season I would be every grateful if someone could post it here again.

Yes, that was a really useful page which allowed you to sync your diary with the dates that tickets were available and saved last minute panics. I take it there isn’t an equivalent link this season?

I had a fucking nightmare earlier trying to book an Everton ticket and allocate it to my son. Never had a problem before but today it wouldn’t let me. Shit show.

I was wondering where to post about this.

Was in Carmarthen Tesco extra with 3 and 5 yrs old running rings round me, having an utter mare of not being able to buy tickets for Drummond who was offline in France.

A)  intially it would only offer a single in a Holte block (when their were zillions of tickets elsewhere) and then when in the end on one of the rare occasions it let me access all the blocks,

and after much faffing I used the filter and searched just the cheapest price band and ‘get me best tickets’ - had no idea it had worked but when trying another block found there was a pair together in  the basket,

Thankfully grandpa magically appeared at this point to assume responsibility for kids to enable me to check out at tesco at least not the damn Vila website!

B) it wouldn’t let me allocate the damn things, couldn’t check out, off I went to a different browser to see if the allocate button was there, issues on that browser as well, for sone reason went back to the first and the was finally able to allocate tix there.

Took half an hour of juggling kids shopping and chaos, wouldn’t mind but can’t even get there myself as 1730 too late to take little kids but too early for me to hand thrm
over to their mum :/

I have a alarm now set every Monday to check tickets at 4.15 just in case by but the late notice last night of them going on sale was stupid. Thankfully the site didn't crash or make me queue like Arsenal where I ended up with any old seats that I could get, but it's a very frustrating process. Missed 2 home all season last season so the membership thing is very useful, but in time I do think there will need to be some kind of tiering system on top of the membership.

I share the frustration assigning tickets too, thankfully they assigned to my son easily last night but for other games I've had to wait till the morning and call the club to sort. So annoying.

Because they were worried about the GA+ (premium) demand.  Adding thousands of standard-priced seats doesn't really pay for itself, they honestly couldn't give a shite if you get a ticket or not.  In fact, they'd rather you didn't so there's more chance you'll pay for the GA+ seats.

But part of their problem is most the GA+ packages come with terrible seats.  £150 for a terrace view - here's your ticket right at the back or the corner of the Holte End...

Same i've just emailed them. With Arsenal they sent the tickets again by email and eventually i was able to add to my apple wallet.

as for BE's Qs - I suspect the first would mean a physical trip to the ticket office on the evening and the second it is possible to reallocate tickets via your online account. I was playing around with it yesterday when i couldnt download the Everton tickets. You go to your orders and are then offered the choice.

I think that the Members scheme should have some form of loyalty system like ST's have for away tickets, it's not been too much of an issue previously, but I know when the tickets went on sale for the CL semi, it was a free for all with everyone lumped in the same bracket which caused chaos on the ticket website and lots of regulars missing out (don't know that for a fact, just from seeing people moaning!)

We are already paying substantial individual ticket prices compared to ST's, so some kind of actual benefit would be good, especially when the UCL go on sale if we have a larger membership than previous years

I have a truly annoying amount of alerts/prompts in my electronic diary (every different onsale tier for every match) but they are there well in advance so I knew the onsale times in advance (I also made the mistake of synching two different levels of villa diaries thinking it’d be smart enough to dispkk looksce the lower level one, so have most things twice, I’ll eventually get round to rationalising it).

Yeah it does appear that way chris. I mean i did lower grounds on saturday (not sure id you saw my post) but gave me a opportunity to see what its like and what the foods like.

The lower grounds itself is lovely massive screen spacious ans can get a drink quickly

However the food absolutely sucked. How can you have burgers with no choice of fried onions and cheese thats just grated? Who wants grated cheese on a burger ffs. 😂 also the chips were burnt. The thing was it wasnt that busy.

So if thats the kind of food you are getting for TV they gonna have a lot of unsold tickets. If you want to have premium experience with OTT prices the food has to be a lot better than that

There's no food in Terrace View but I think you get two drinks and a programme.  But if someone is after a special treat, spends £280 for two tickets and then find they are stood at the back of the Holte with the kids, it's not such an appealing prospect.

I'm not advocating creating a Terrace View seating area in the Holte, far from it.  Just identifying why, in my opinion, this particular GA+ package is a white elephant.  They haven't even been able to sell it out 4 days before our first game of the season for one of the most attractive fixtures possible.

Membership queries are a different option when you dial the ticket number, which may be why you got through? Choose the ticket option and there’s a recorded message advising they aren’t taking calls at the moment due to excessive demand. Just tried it now ( open at 10am) and got the same message as yesterday.

Edit- Also, tried to be cheeky and get through via the membership option and got the same message.

They really seem to be taking the piss atm. I had an e mail about something called The Oak Room. Yours for £16k per season. I know it'll be for corporate types but jeez. I just checked and they've sold out.

Also something called The Cells in the North Stand. A snip at £1560. You'd think they'd think of a more appealing name though wouldn't you? Apparently they're "within the original prison cells at Villa Park".

I feel like a peasant with my claret membership.

Here is what a ticket looks like in Google Wallet..

The QR code can be revealed with 'show code' if you don't use NFC.

Hopefully everything will go smoothly and there will be no delays because of faffing and Villa technology failure.

Despite telling me my membership would auto-renew, it did not auto-renew. I had to renew it manually.

Happened to a mate of mine who couldn’t get an Arsenal ticket when he went online at 5pm on the day of sale. And the error message had no mention of the fact that his auto renewal hadn’t been done.  After a few hours of trying he realised what the issue was and renewed his membership manually - but then had to wait 72 hours for it to be activated, by which time most seats had gone. Luckily we got him some through alternative means.

Also, the ticket office still aren’t taking calls today. I’m not panicking though, just fucked off with having to jump through hoops just to get tickets.
Title: Re: Cubs/Clarets membership
Post by: Bad English on August 22, 2024, 12:27:51 PM
Mine was set to auto-renew around the date the Arsenal tickets went on sale. I renewed manually in case the system thought I was no longer a member and refused to let me purchase a ticket. If you do renew early, the renewal date is taken as the day after the previous year's expiry date so you don't 'lose out'.

Same happened to me, only found out when I was on holiday and couldn't buy a ticket for the Bilbao game so had to wait for the general sale window.

If you're coming that far Id pay for Terrace View or Lower Grounds.  Lower Grounds probably better unless you want to stand at the back of the Holte.

edit - how recently have you bought her membership?  It doesn't allow you to buy tickets for 72 hours I think.  I believe there are tickets still available so if you've had her membership for more than a few days then I think Chico's advice of logging in separately is probably the best.

Yeah it won't let her buy one. Best we can get is the very back row of the Upper Holte for 280 quid. Awful view and really unfair that a 4 grand trip after hotels and flights is being rewarded with 2 members having to pay a fortune to sit on the back row. I'm really, really upset about this. They are allowing us to allocate her a TV ticket but NOT a standard ticket. This mens it can have fuck all to do with her lack of match history for a Cat A game as they are willing to take our money as long as we pay an extra 130 quid for 4 fucking pints. This is an abysmal way to treat fans and will put many people off becoming members or going to games at all. This kind of bullshit is we will always remain a million miles away from the Sky 6 clubs.

The club is so terribly ran as far as fan experience goes. An embarrassment.

I’ve only become aware that tickets for the wolves game have come on sale for members having read the last few pages on here, so I’ve not tried yet. For the Arsenal game, initially, it wouldn’t let me buy a ticket, for no apparent reason then I tried / looked again a few days later and it would, I’m not sure of the reason for this but hopefully it might be the same for you or your missus.
Also just because you’re a member it only gives you a chance of a ticket not a guarantee.

We ended up buying Terrace View for a hugely inflated price so it has nothing to do with history. Anyone can buy a TV ticket. We feel we have basically been scammed into buying her a membership that is clearly useless. We have now paid a total of 360 pounds for 2 seats in the holte end for this match!!!!

What they are doing it trying to stop away fans buying tickets which is something we always moan about.  But you're right, they're much less bothered about them buying the GA+ seats and I saw people getting kicked out of Lower Grounds seats in the DE stand on Sat.

There should be a better way of handling situations like your and previously there would have been an option to do it the next day over the phone, this is the first season in a long time when tickets have sold this quickly.

The whole Online ticketing system isn’t fit for purpose.

In a few short days, we’ll know who we’re playing in the CL, and for me, who our first away game will be.

They’ve assigned people “points”, so will there be a different criteria for those who travelled away in Europe last season? Or just release details ridiculously late again, completely oblivious to us having to make travel plans.

I dread to think.

Just looked and initially every part of the ground was shaded out, so no tickets available.
Refreshed page and only area available was K5. Then pressed best available and was offered one in middle Trinity.
Refreshed again and now most stands have availability.
Prices are a piss take really though, I’ll probably end up getting one as got a few wolves mates and we’ll go for a drink before but I’ve got a mind to keep my powder dry and take my chances with a champions league ticket (s) for which I’ll probably have to remortgage the house!

We are hoping to do the CL game as well as the Wolves game but god knows what kind of ticketing nonsense we will be facing for that one. We will find out on Thursday I suppose.

If it's an away game we will fly there and go in the home end (That's where is speaking Spanish together will come in handy!.)

Probably easier than being a Villa member and buying a ticket in the Holte End!!

I was able to buy and assign a ticket for SWMBO and one for myself. She became a member a couple of months ago and had no booking history (although she has been before to see us draw against Stoke when Bent was playing).

Ok so that makes even less sense now then. Ffs.

What I'm saying is it worked for me for Arsenal. I was 80th in the queue and got two seats in Trinity B2 (there was basically bugger all choice anywhere though). I was expecting to have to pay for brown* food and four pints like you to be honest. Not cool.

*Demitri said the chips were burnt so I've gone for between orange and black.

There was.no queue when I logged in, but each time I selected two seats and tried to allocate one to my missus,.it came up in red letters that she is entitled to 0 tickets for this match.. So we bought TV on back row with a shitty view at a total cost of £380 for two tickets. (with the wasted membership fees).

An expensive game for us on top of the 4 grand plus.its already costing us. I just feel it's unfair and not right.

It’s not about the membership it’s about your booking history. So If you’ve attended a home game in the last seven years.

Somebody helpfully posted in here last season a link to a page on the official website which showed when tickets for home games were being released.

I've had a look on the website today and can't find one for this season in there.  Anyone know where it can be found please?

We haven't received our membership packs yet. they did say they would be sent out during August and they do say allow 28 days for delivery but I thought I would use the handy AVFC member "Track your welcome pack (https://membership.avfc.co.uk/packtrack)" button. This was on Firefox but the same thing happens on Chrome.
We haven't been contacted about any unforeseen circumstances either.

Here we go!

The club replied today
"Thank you for contacting membership services. Dispatch of the new membership packs will be worked on who was active from June onwards. As soon as your packs will be dispatched you will receive an email notification.

Kind regards"

Looks like Lanchester Poly AI have the contract.

Well that's because you're behind others who ordered before you, and of course, you're a lot further away, so it will take even longer.

I just never realised it would take months to send out a membership card. I think that timescale is absurd. That's all.

It's not just the card, it's the other stuff that comes with it. You'll definitley be in need of some cardboard coasters and a travel mug.

When did he renew?
In a weird cycle with my Dad and my youngest in that I set up Claret/Cubs midseason so I always get whatever the new thing is for them way after the event.
If he renewed just before the new stuff came out and maybe had that bottle for the first time, might explain it.

I think he did renew pretty early, but he already has the bottle from last time. So now he has 6 with his 2 kids getting the bottles again as well!

Got my travel mug yesterday. I am not really a posh coffee aficionado.

Does it work like a thermos flask?

If I make myself a tea before heading to Villa Park 45 mins later will it still be warm?

It should still be warm but probably won’t be piping hot. I’ve used mine a few times and the only gripe I have is it doesn’t fit properly in the cup holder in my van.. oh well.

I received a birthday card from the club a full week before the date as well.

Apologies if it’s been mentioned before, but anyone else had issues with adding their digital tickets from the Villa app to their Apple wallet on their phones?

I keep getting the message “This pass cannot be added to your wallet” from the app. And the icon in the ticket sale confirmation email just brings up a webpage that says “Sorry! something went wrong”.

Anyone found a workaround to get their tickets in to their phone wallets?

My Bournemouth ticket will not go into my Google wallet. 'Sorry, something went wrong! Class not found for ticket's population - please check the active designs in Pass Editor' is the message to me from Aston Villa FC.  I have no idea what that means obviously, but it's just all so wearisome.

Very strangely, my Bournemouth tickets are now going in to my Apple wallet with no issues at all (both from the app and from the email). Maybe it was just a case of giving a bit of time post purchase.

Anyone had the following error on the ticketing website at all when trying to buy 2 tickets to a WSL game (in this case v Palace on 17/11) ? I am signed in with my fan I.D. & chose 1 adult & 1 under 18 ticket but can't checkout as I need to "assign" 1 of the 2 to someone else (no doubt a fellow member). I found someone on my drop-down list (as I'd had 1 of their tickets assigned to me by them in the past) so tried this but the same error occurred. I've tried different seating areas but still no joy! I have mailed the club to query but might be quicker if someone on here can kindly assist. Cheers

The quantity of tickets owned by Kilduff, Kevin exceeds limitations.
To resolve, click "Assign Owners" and assign some of the tickets to other owners.
