Right, that nonsense is over. Time to move on with a bigger game on Wednesday. Surely only one change with McGinn coming in for Whelan.
Let's hope pubehead's irrational fear of the month of March continues.
1-3. Tammy x 2 and Conor
-
Stating the obvious, but this is now massive. We'll be 6 points off 6th going into the game, but if we win this it's bang on.
A point here and winning the two following home games keeps it alive as well, so I'll say 1-1. Late equaliser from us.
-
Secretely hoping we annihilate Judas dwarf pube-head's latest team but going for a 0-0.
-
Massive game, win this and the outside chance of 6th just became a real chance. Really though game but we have to grasp the chance too many times the last couple of years we've just failed to take advantage of situations and blow key games.
-
We really need to win. Grabban is out for them, shame Lolley isn't.
-
OK it was fun yesterday but we now need to build on last two results. Last season we had a habit of winning big derby games and messing up in the next game. Losing easily to Fulham after beating SHA and getting whipped at home by QPR after a fantastic show against Wolves.
NO REPEAT OF THAT SORT OF NONSENSE PLEASE VILLA.
-
Good news about Grabban being missing.
I agree, Ads. If we win this we'll be right in the mix.
Think we'll do them. 0-2.
-
I'm not going to predict because I can't bring myself to start getting excited/optimistic given our ability to completely f*ck it up over the last few years!!
-
I clicked on home win by mistake, should have clicked away win...sorry
-
Really important to keep the run going. Win win win!
-
2-1 to us. Jack at the double.
-
6-6
-
6-6
Mings says no
-
1-4
Win! Win! Win!
-
2-0 routine win for us. The comeback marches on.
-
Pleased that Grabban is out for them. 2-2 I reckon. On the one hand yesterday will have taken a lot out of us. On the other hand the win will have really boosted the players.
-
Villa in routine 2 nil win shocker.
-

They have had an extra days rest after a handy win too. Daryl Murphy in and Grabban out is a huge plus for us, Murphy keeps up MON's fixation with defensive forwards ala Heskey.
We do need changes though, Whelan won't be able to start 2 games in 4 days, McGinn will come back in with Hourihane dropping back one. Lolley destroyed Hourihane at Villa Park mind. Both of our widemen didn't impress v Blues so Green could come in to give us extra legs. Could do with Tuanzebe or Chester at least making the bench, any hope?
Think a point would be decent in the circumstances, 2-2.
-
0-3 Villa
-
Need to keep the run of winning games going. Winning against playoff rivals also helps us. For good measure the quitting duo of mon and keane need putting in their place. Come on Villa boys! UTV!
-
1-1
-
Another 1-0 Villa away win.
-
1-3 to villa. Pube head silenced
-
draws no good got to go for the win 1-2
-
3 points here and we're right back in it
-
Win this, McGinn to start, Tammy with the winner. 1-0 Villa
-
Can imagine Keane advising their defenders to hack into Jack at every opp, the anger-issued cnut.
-
McGinn coming back definitely helps improve the quality and freshen things up.
-
MON will play the MON away at home. Soak up pressure and counter. The question is will he have the players to do that. We need to dominate possession and make our chances count. I can see Green and McGinn starting this one for Adomah and Whelan. Otherwise no changes.
-
Steer
Taylor
Mings
Hause
Elmo
Hourihane
McGinn
El Ghazi
Grealish
Green
Tammy
-
A tight 2-1 victory for us. Abraham and mcginn with a late winner
-
We will win easily, it's the hope that kills you.
-
Pubehead 0 soon to be promoted club 6
-
I'd like a nice comfortable, professional job. No dramas, just a plain, straightforward 0-2.
-
Two wins now but I really do think this win vs the unmentionables plus the incident will galvanize this team to a magnificent victory, proud Lions, WE WILL WIN THIS.
Villa 2-1
-
Any of the London contingent know a boozer showing this one?
-
No idea about this one, but I think we usually do OK at the CG?
Be nice to stick it to pubehead.
I anticipate the side being a bit flat, like on a bit of a comedown after the antics at the sty, so don’t think a draw would be a bad result.
Would be nice to show Martin O’Neill that Aston Villa’s bigger than him though.
-
it certainly would. Those heady top six times came at a big cost.
-
I'm going for a 2-1 Villa win and our good form continues.
-
Really don't know about this one. They've had a extra days rest while some of our players might be a case of after the lord mayors show. Nothing against Whelan but I think McGinn has to start, he's fresh and probably raring to go. Or drop Conor. Draw at least please Villa then beat Boro.
-
Could really do with a Derby/Boro type performance here. Win this and we're right in it. I've seen Forest a few times this season and they do look decent, probably 1-1.
-
I think we need the legs of McGinn and the goal threat of Connor for this one.
-
Can't Lolley spend the evening following the game on Villatalk? Otherwise he'll hurt us.
-
We need to put the game at the weekend behind us but take the positives from it...the team should be even more galvanised and take the momentum into the game at Forest. Another 3pts please and take the Jack inspired juggernaut into the Boro game.
-
1-3...simples!
-
I've only seen them once this season, and they let 5 in...
Be interesting to see how we line up. Will we see a change of shape?Green to start, maybe. Adomah's on borrowed time now, surely. Or, one out-and-out winger, with Grealish, McGinn and Hourihane providing width with their mobility? I think Whelan will play, if he's fit. I still think he's our best option at dcm; Jedinak can't pass or run, Hourihane and McGinn are both wasted there. Carroll, perhaps. Is he fit?
Lively entertaining game, us by the odd goal in 7. We're on a roll.
-
Anyone know what changes pubehead has made since he took over? Karanka did an absolute number on us back in Nov with Carvalho and Lolley ripping us a new one.
-
Yeah but their defence was mash and Grabban was pumped up too score and he's out.
-
FFS - Mike Dean is the ref.
-
I honestly can't call this one. I am starting to believe again and hope that the last two games are not, for the umpteenth time, another false dawn. We have absolutely no margin for error with so few games left and simply need a win here.
-

Smith has appeared to be very mindful of this over the last week and has actually made the point that we're very much taking each game as it comes now.
-
draws no good got to go for the win 1-2
Really?
4 points off Forest and Boro. 4 points off Blackburn and Bristol City home games, 4 points off final two which is Leeds and Norwich and then lets say 10 points off Bolton, Rotherham, Millwall and Sheff Weds and that all adds up to 73.
Would be surprised if we missed out on 6th with that.
We can afford draws, just not too many of them obviously.
-

4-4-2.
Pretty much all the foreign flair players are warming the bench now although Carvalho did score at weekend so he could be shoehorned in from the start.
They have new CB partnership aswell.

Any of the London contingent know a boozer showing this one?
The Black Prince in Kennington (despite the seemingly racist sounding name...) fb event here

@mods apologies if that breaks a rule, just the London Lions event showing the game, feel free to amend/delete

The Black Prince was the Duke of Cornwall and the son/heir of King Edward (circa 14th century)
One of the most famous English commanders during the 100 years war with France

Your forgiven then. lol
-

Big queue on the M40?
-
He probably will tweak the team a little bit, bring back in McGinn and that's probably about it. Green has been useful coming on as sub so I think he'll stick with that. It is a tough one to call and although another three points would be fantastic, a draw away from home wouldn't be the end of the world.
-
Is 2nd place mathematically possible?
Chaaaaaaargggggee!!!!

There’s a shock, though we seem to struggle to get our game going against a 4-4-2.

I'm confused. Don't you mean, history?
Anyway, I'm a bit of a simpleton, so I may have missed an obvious joke here. If so, apologies.
-

Don’t you have to have a broad knowledge of all subjects to get into Oxford, or have standards dropped there too?
-
Its been said - difficult to call.
Maybe a game too far given all the recent drama but fingers crossed.
-
1-1 draw
-
tight game but would love a drab 2 nil routine win for the boys from B6
Hause or Mings 25mins
McGinn 72mins

2-0 Villa. Mings and SJM. Picking my daughter up at 1930 from Brownies and I won’t be happy if they are late out.

I get the impression with Smith that he will not let that happen. If Bruce were in charge then it would happen as we saw several times last season. Smith seems to have a manner about him that suggests that he'd freshen things up to prevent it happening.
1-0 Villa
-
Can imagine Keane advising their defenders to hack into Jack at every opp, the anger-issued cnut.
Ha ha love the invented word ‘anger-issued’. That made me laugh quite a lot - and perfect for Keano.
-
2-0 Villa. Mings and SJM. Picking my daughter up at 1930 from Brownies and I won’t be happy if they are late out.
Can you kill Hitler before you return to 2019?

No Rodent! If you kill Hitler the war will go on and on because cleverer generals will know what they are doing. Lee Marvin said so in Dirty Dozen Next Mission!
-
After the Stripy lot beat us at VP. I thought the season would just drift away from us, however hope is restored.
It's been a truly bizarre season and last Sunday's events just another crazy chapter.
After the SHA game I looked at the league table and thought if we could just beat Forest and Boro before the international break we could be right in it as Boro, Derby and Bristol City are all looking shaky.
Even 4 points from these next two games would keep us still living in hope.
You've got to be optimistic in football as in life let the dream live on.
2-1 to us tonight.
UTV
-
1-0 us, towering header by McGrath from a Staunton corner.
-
It’s the anniversary of Franz Carr’s finest hour, and if that’s not an omen I don’t know what is.
-
Tough to call, I'd like to think we have enough to edge it 1-2.

I originally misread 'boys from B6' as 'boys from 86' and had horrible flashbacks of a team that included David Norton, Dean Glover, Ray Walker and Paul Kerr.
-
Going to this now, albeit in the home end.

2-0 Villa. Mings and SJM. Picking my daughter up at 1930 from Brownies and I won’t be happy if they are late out.
Can you kill Bono's parents before you return to 2019?
Fixed.
-
Another 3pts tonight would really set the promotion juggernaut in motion. Win please Villa!
Other fixtures for us to keep an eye on tonight:
Teams above:
Derby vs Stoke: we’ll be 1pt behind Bristol and Derby if Stoke can get a result.
Teams below:
Boro vs Preston: if Boro lose tonight and we beat then at the weekend then we’ll only be 1pt behind them, but Preston will be keeping pace with us.
Norwich vs Hull: fancy Norwich to win and put a cushion between us.
Blose vs Millwall: would be great if Millwall can do a job at the half empty Sty.
-
Win tonight and an eternal pessimist like me will start thinking a play off spot is possible .....plus I want to see pube head squirm
( that doesn't look or sound right does it?) :)
-
I really want us to win tonight. After the recent turn of form I've started to believe again, and keeping the promotion hopes alive means keeping the door open for Mings, Jack and Tammy to be here next season.
-

Harsh but fair
-
1-1 I think. Tammy for us.
Meanwhile, down at the sty, keen to make up for last weekends failed haymaker attempt I'm going to predict a score of 3 pitch invasions ending in the assault of an opposing player to 2. A close 'battle' won in the final minute with a spectacular flying head butt into the midrif of the Millwall goalkeeper. As for the football, who gives a fuck?
-
Is the game on Sky tonight? I thought it was - Norwich vs Hull seems to be on. Last Villa programme says it's on Sky??
-
What if you go back in time and kill Hitler, and the Nazis appoint a more competent leader and win the war?
-
Is this on Sky tonight, ive been told its on channel 407 what channel is that?
I thought Norwich/Hull was the live game.

It's on 'Sky Sports Action'..... Was originally red button, but it's been moved to a standard channel. I spotted it earlier through Now TV.

Ours is on sky sports action, let's hope its appropriate. Norwich are on Sky Sports football

Our game is now on Channel 407 Sky Sports Action, not the Red Button, so should get full commentary and playbacks.
-
McGinn and Green both start.
-
Goodness knows why - but I think we'll get summat out of tonight's game. I've gone for an optimistic Villa victory: just as long as SJM starts & the rest are still suitably inspired by Capt. Jack driving us on. Fingers crossed then eh?
So us to edge it 1-2.
COYL!
-
McGinn and Green both start.
Boooom! :)
