Would just like to say rest in peace to Steve who always wore his Villa cricket jumper to games. First person to look for on away days. Holte ender in the sky.
-
Rest in peace. A lovely chap by all accounts, and a Villa man to his very core.
-
Worth repeating, but saw him everywhere, including being ejected for the City Ground season before last! Always in his jumper.
RIP.
-
Bloody hell. RIP Steve. HEITS
-
FFS, Didn't know the bloke but was only talking about him to my missus the other week. RIP
-
I’ve mentioned him a couple of times on here
never knew him but always smiled when I saw him at every away I went to
Shocked at this news
RIP Steve
-
Very sad to hear this news. Cricket Jumper Steve became synonymous with Villa away days. Quite a character who will be missed, RIP.
-
Very sad,RIP Steve
-
Definitely another Villa legend - just a great supporter and is proof that is enough to be remembered favourably, without having to make a name for yourself doing anything else than supporting the team you follow.
-
I can't place him. Very sad news though. Condolences to all his family and freinds.
-
I did not know him, but like others have said we saw him at away games.
HEITS
The Doc
-
I didn't know him but he was a fixture at away games. Those that did know him spoke highly of him. Another Holte Ender in the Sky.
-
I would imagine that there can be very few Villa fans who have not cast an envious eye on that jumper over the years. RIP Steve.
-
I saw him at the games I went to home and away never knew him personally but sad news indeed RIP Cricket Jumper Steve HEITS
-
Again didn't know him personally but shared an "alright mate" in locations all over the country following Villa. He will be missed as will his cricket jumper.
RIP Cricket jumper Steve.
-
His nickname from the lads basil was so apt had to be the unluckiest fan on earth for getting thrown out at forest and Rotherham both times it was his thick cricket jumper with villa badge that probably caused the Stewards picking on him. We all need cricket jumpers for the sty on Sunday

Genuinely nice chap. And always a delight to spot him in some far-flung away end.
RIP.
-
I didn’t know him, but I did point him out to my son away at Blackburn under Alex, on his second away aged about 6, told him this guy & his jumper go everywhere. Sure enough over the years we have seen him. RIP and prayers for his family

Lovely touch, RIP Steve, sure Steve will push the lads on to bigger and better things in his new place of rest.

Speaking with his mate tonight.
Funeral is next Tuesday 12:15 Aston Parish Church
Wake - in the Aston Social
-
A couple of things
First of all the funeral is at 11am with the crem at 12:15 (wake in the Social afterwards)
Also a couple of Lions clubs Longbridge and North Walsall have come up with a great idea for the final away league game - no traffic cones or nuns but cricket jumpers. You can get hold of them quite easily and in time.
