Any ideas if Mel Machin and John O'Hare are still working for the club? If not, can anyone give me links to what they are doing now. Need the links to update sortitoutsi.net, which then updates FM 2019. Ta in advance.

Never heard of either in a Villa context before, they don't seem to be employed by us.

In fact, I can't see any evidence that Machin was ever at Villa.

I can't find any John O'Hare in current employment, sorry.

Both of them must be getting on a bit. I think it was Mel Machin who conceded the penalty in the League Cup Final in 1975.

I think you are right about Mel Machin conceding the penalty. He was a coach at Norwich for years including MON's spell as a Norwich player so he does has a link to MON. As does O'Hare who played with MON at Forest. O'Hare also has a league cup penalty history as he was the man brought down for Forest's penalty winner in the 1978 League Cup final replay at Old Trafford that John Robertson converted to beat Liverpool 1-0.

He was a centre forward at Derby under Clough in the early 70s too. He took him to Forest and put him on as an aging sub in midfield in their second European cup win over Hamburg. He was quite clever that Clough bloke...

According to his wiki page, John O'Hare is a part time chauffeur for Toyota.

I think he had connections with John Bond from their Norwich days and was a coach under Bond at Manchester City and stayed on after Bond left and then at some point around the time both City and Villa got relegated in 1987 Machin got the manager's job and if I remember right Villa went straight back up in 1988 and Machin got City promoted the season after.

Mel Machin and John O'Hare were both employed as scouts for the club. Machin was definitely at AVFC after his stint at B'mouth.

I think Frizzel was manager of Citeh after Bingo left for us, and i think Machin followed him for a brief time
Edit - just read up on it, yes he did
