Who left at 0-3 then? (winky).
Reminded me of the Everton protest a few years back, must've been thousands that left from the hour mark.
-
If people left at 60, 70 or 80 mins, that’s up to them, let’s not have “I’m a better fan than you” bollox
-
I think I would've left.
-
I have walked at 3 0 down before,
-
fair play to all those who went
-
I left the earliest I've ever left a match, 75 minutes, and could not give a fuck. "Walk of shame", my arse.
-
I have walked at 3 0 down before,
Earliest I ever left a game was Wigan at home during the first dreadful run under Lambert when we were ironically 3-0 down. Normally even with trashings I wait until 85th minute (would've probably left then tonight if we hadn't scored the first a few minutes earlier) but I just saw no hope at that time so left on 70th minute mark.
I wasn't having a go btw, we've all I'm sure missed key goals for leaving a minute or two early. Just haven't quite seen an evacuation like that at VP for many a season so was just interested who missed the epic comeback.
-
FML. I don't like it when ppl leave early. For 44 years, I've always said support your team until the final whistle, but the disgraceful embarrassing performance tonight lead to me leaving early for the first time ever on 80 minutes. I felt the Holte thud whilst taking a piss when the first went in then heard the second walking down Trinity Rd. Pissed off at such a shite abysmal performance for 80 minutes, and doubly pissed off with myself for leaving and missing the comeback.
-
As for the bloke in the Holte lower who started going mad at people leaving calling them blue noses, what a tool
-
I stayed until the end - More by luck than judgement/loyalty. I sit in the DE and my lift home sits in the Trinity. We always stay until the end and meet back at the car. Loads around me left and I can't wait to see them next game to take the Michael.
I'm not a diehard though - Normally, I'm out at the earliest opportunity if we are woeful. For the Sheff United away game, I was out at half time and in an off licence buying cans before the 2nd half kicked off. For the 2015 FA Cup final, I never went back up for the second half.
-
I don't leave early as a general rule, but the day Coventry twatted us 4-1 at VP saw me on the Expressway when John Hartson scored.

I went to the game with my 6 year old daughter and at 3-0 asked if she wanted to go. She said no as we might score. So we stayed. Feel quite good now.
-
Understand why many did. Credit to those who stayed. We're all fans and neither are better than the other.
-

Ask her every time we're losing!
-
You never, ever leave early because of the football. Ever.
If you need to do something else and life has interrupted your match going experience, obviously go forth.
But the game lasts 90+ minutes and you've paid to watch it, you've not paid for anything else.
The insidious habit is creeping into our away support. It's like the Witton Lane stand on 80 minutes now.
-
There is no shame in leaving early. I did not even go. I went to the Leeds game and left at 90 minutes to sell the fanzine. I did not find out we'd lost until a couple of hours later when I got home.

Being forced to leave early because of your billionaire, media mogul, tyrant employer. Have you considered unionisng?

What a girl !!
-
I was watching on a phone via an alternative and creative means of content delivery. I switched off at 0-2, not because we were losing but because I had had enough of watching those zippy fuckers in yellow run rings around us.
I left my football scores notification app (futbol24 used to be good now fucking shite, any app suggestions gratefully received) on though, leading to 20 minutes of 'Oh for fuck's sake! 'Ooh fuck me!' 'Eh? What the fuck?' and 'Fucking Hell!
I felt like Bunk and McNulty.

Livescore is pretty good

I confess I left early, very early, and missed all the fight back. I am not worthy and consider myself to be the lowest and most despicable of Gods creatures. I have bought shame to my family and to my few friends that may have previously considered me as an upright and honourable citizen.
There should be some redress, if only to assuage even a small part of my self-loathing. What punishment do you feel appropriate for this act of wanton abandonment of footballing ideals?

Just think of it as the stride of pride.

You can watch the first half on repeat for 12 hours.

You should get an employment lawyer on the case.
I never leave before the end. I’ve paid for the whole match so I want my money’s worth!

On the flip side, she made me sit through the whole of the Swansea cup game for the same reason!

Fair play to those who stayed they got what they deserved, great support.
Whilst I would never leave with 15 minutes left, I understand why fans did last night, having watched 75 minutes of crap, but what I don't get is fans leaving early, when it's been a thrilling match and the game's on a knife's edge, simply to miss the traffic.

Bloke behind me left at 3-2, which struck me as a tad odd.
-
I stayed to the end I always do, I don’t know why but after Mings scored I just felt we’d level it.
-
The first game I left early against was against Swansea in the cup. We weren’t quite as bad as that last night but under pressure from friends by me I left on 77 mins. Plenty of finger pointing in the pub afterwards.

-
Left many a time early, Wigan away being the he last one. My take on it is if the players can’t be arsed why should I. It’s a personal preference
-
Don't you think, as supporters, the team needs our support more at 3-0 down than 3-0 up? Walking out and or booing loses us the home advantage and makes it a disadvantage.
I think anyone who pays their money has this free choice when to leave.
For what it's worth, I stayed until the end at the Chelsea 8-0.
-
There was a chap on Twitter who left when we went two goals down against Hull at home and posted a picture of himself outside the ground. It was almost as if he was proud to do it. People like that annoy me the most to be honest.
-
I don't leave early as a general rule, but the day Coventry twatted us 4-1 at VP saw me on the Expressway when John Hartson scored.
Was just thinking about that game. That was the first game I ever left early. We were woeful that day
Left early against QPR last year and missed our consolation
-
I left the earliest I've ever left a match, 75 minutes, and could not give a fuck. "Walk of shame", my arse.
Earliest ever for me too but it was about 72 minutes.
I generally never leave early but last night was just abject and there was absolutely no sign that we had 3 goals in us.
-
I watched the game at 11 pm when I got back from work.
I must admit I did the fast forward on 77 miniutes as I couldnt believe how shit we were and was so frustrated with the game . The performance and the ref decisions .
Then I saw a 1-3 pop up in the corner rewound it to see the goal and sat back and watched it 'live' thinking we couldnt could we.
-
soon as I watched Hologram kick the ball off the pitch instead of a simple pass thats when I thought fuck this .
-
I stayed, but largely because I didn't want to battle through the people leaving and thought I'd get away more quickly at FT.
I don't blame anyone who did leave. It wasn't just that we were 3-0 down but there appeared to be a total lack of spark and going into the 80th minute I felt there was only one side with any chance of finishing the game strongly. Which obviously made the comeback even more of a surprise!
I have no issue with people who spend their hard-earned money watching performances like last night wondering why they bother and deciding they'd rather beat the traffic and get home in the warm.
Better that than staying behind to boo the team off, in my opinion.
-
Only ever left early twice.
My first game August 74’ Villa 6-0 v Hull. Left at 4-0 because my Uncle wanted to go and I was only 8.
Villa 0-3 v Blues in 85’ (not sure of the date) was the other one.
Otherwise I’ve stood/sat through the lot at home!
-

Agree totally.
I’ve no issue whatsoever if people want to leave and there was more than enough evidence last night to do just that.
I just stay till the end and it’s a habit I suppose as there is always somebody to applaud off even if the team has been shocking.
-
I left the earliest I've ever left a match, 75 minutes, and could not give a fuck. "Walk of shame", my arse.
Oh come on. You must be a tweeny weeny bit annoyed with yourself!
-
Only left early twice in my life. First was the Steve Hodge match (in protest) and the second was the Wembley semi-final against Chelsea. I did think about leaving early but i'm fucking glad I didn't :D

I think he's overjoyed with the 3-3...
-
I went for a piss at 81minutes and was in two minds about whether to go back. The cheer for our first decided it but only went back and stood at the top of the steps next to the steward.
-
We have left early in the past and last nights game, up until the 80th minute, was the perfect example of why.
However, we did stay till the end.
One of my earliest exits was when the 3rd went in in the FA cup quarter final at Oldham on that fucking plastic pitch.
-
I left after 90 mins against Brentford. I think that’s the first time ever. And last !!!
-
I was out of there before we scored and I have no regrets. We always leave before the end as my old man is nearly 80 and needs a head start on the crowds to get on the train / bus. I have missed countless goals over the years!
It's a personal choice and each their own.
I have just watched the last 10 minutes and I can't believe we didn't get at least 1 penalty!
-
Watched the match in one pub but left in disgust at around 70 minutes. We rocked up in an alternative boozer with no thought about catching anymore of the game but there it was on the screens so we stood and watched the drama unfold. I say stood but when the third went in I did a lap of honour 'round the place. What made it all the sweeter was that we were deep inside Sandwell territory and between pubs at 3 nil down we came across a gang of Albion tramps spilling out of 'Spoons, laughing and singing Small Heath's club anthem.
-
Me and AD left at three-nil. We would never have pulled it back if we had stayed... feel free to thank us.
-
The three of us rarely leave early unless it's a complete lost cause and we've had enough.
Last night at 65 minutes two of us were ready to go and get back for the pub the driver wasn't. So we stuck around until Green hit that first woeful cross that went out for a throw in the other side (i think) and then we collectively said 'fuck this' and headed down the Lower Holte steps towards the exit.
As we got to the bottom we got THE corner. If that hadn't happened we'd have been off and on the way home for sure.
As it was i said 'hold up lets just watch the corner' and so a memorable night under the floodlights was saved and in the memory bank forever.
Despite half the ground being empty, the noise when Green headed home was immense around us. Absolutely buzzing.
-
There was discussion about bailing around 75 mins but we hung in there.
-
I left at 3-0, it’s not just that I’d had enough for that particular game it was an accumulation of ‘having enough’ for the last 10 years during which I’ve missed a handful of games home and away. Preston, Wigan and Reading sucked out a lot of my resolve.
That said I watched the goals live on a stream on the way back and of course regretted leaving, but enjoyed the comeback as much as being there.
Oh and for the record if we’re three down at Brentford I’ll be leaving early again to get an earlier train.
-
Me and AD left at three-nil. We would never have pulled it back if we had stayed... feel free to thank us.
I would like to thank you both whilst patting myself on the back.
-
I usually stay to the end, couple of exceptions on 03/03/03 and when Coventry dicked us 4-1, I imagine if I had a ST during those last couple of PL seasons I would have left early on a regular basis.
People pay their money and makes their choice, if they want to leave early that’s up to them.
Only time I have had a go at people leaving early is when a couple of gobby twats had a go at people for not singing, screaming at people to support the team then they left early...made a point of telling them they needed to support the team to the end of the game....surprisingly they didn’t like that.
-

However, we did stay till the end.
One of my earliest exits was when the 3rd went in in the FA cup quarter final at Oldham on that fucking plastic pitch.
A car load of us also left that Oldham game very early (we usually always stayed to the end of away games). The only time I have ever done a real 'walk of shame' was when I a DJ at an apartment complex in Tenerife and had spent the night at said complex with a nurse from Oxford in her room. The next morning I told her I had to go and in doing so avoid the pool area as I had to pop back to my apartment, get changed ready to do the daytime sports activities and meet my new boss for the first time who would be waiting for me by the pool. Her reply was to ask me just how pissed I had been the night before and open the curtains to show me her apartment was right next to the swimming pool! My new boss caught me leaving and doing the walk of shame (another member of staff saw me and kindly introduced us which was the last thing I needed to happen at that point). It turned out to be the perfect ice breaker as he just looked me up and down, smiled and said "been out shagging all night"? He was a Brazilian guy who looked the dead spit of Andi Peters and he had an eye for the guests as well. We never fell out over that though as it was the young male guests he was interested in.
-
Two games I remember leaving early off the top of my head are the Liverpool ticket fiasco Cup game at home and Boro away in the semi final of the Zenith Data or whatever it was called.
-
I left my football scores notification app (futbol24 used to be good now fucking shite, any app suggestions gratefully received) on though, leading to 20 minutes of 'Oh for fuck's sake! 'Ooh fuck me!' 'Eh? What the fuck?' and 'Fucking Hell!
I use flashscores and have never had a problem with it.
-
Definitely Flashscores.

Me too, but which football scores app do you recommend?
-
I didn't leave early just to critique their performance / hurl abuse at them at the final whistle.
The thing that is strange is i have left before the end in the past not many times admittedly if you ignore the final stages of our relegation season in the 20+ seasons of being a season ticket holder you can count the amount of times i've left early on one hand, But for some reason this time i decided to stay.
-
How was Hillsborough?

i've had the same experience as that, it's strange that it's always the ones that give other fans aggro about not showing enough support are the ones that leave early. I'm not having ago at every fan that leave early as last night i was joking around with the ones leaving when Whelan came on telling them they were mad because the come back is just about to start (if only i did in game betting lol) It's just that if you're having a go at other fans not showing enough support then you have then committed yourself to staying to the end.

How was Hillsborough?
Smith still awesome is he? 1 win in 12 is very awesome. Last night reminded me of the Newcastle game under RDM when we got a 1:1 draw and the players clearly ignored the managers instructions and took it upon themselves how to play. we were saying around us last night that for 80 mins they didn't seem to be playing for Smith and it was the looks of a manager that has lost or is losing the dressing room.
-
I hope Dean Smith loses most of our dressing room in the next five or six months.
-
Yes, I often find that players going to the well 3 times in the last 12 minutes of a game is because they're not playing for the manager.
Your trolling is dire Alex. Hope you weren't too gutted when the equaliser went in.
-

after 80 mins the players we playing a complete different style of play, So either they changed it themselves or Smith did which begs the question why did he leave it so late to change things?
either way Smith doesn't look good. Playing returning to fitness Jedinak against a team that have pace good idea?
-
Yes let’s all hope he loses most of the dressing room once this season is over.
Funny but I didn’t think for one second that the comeback was some sort of crusade against the tyrant that is Dean Smith.

Is there really any need to be so childish about it? I feel like I'm on break duty listening to KS1. You are perfectly entitled to your opinion, by the way.
-
Personally, I can't stand watching Villa get humiliated and other teams fans celebrating. I don't care how much I pay for a ticket, I am not going to put myself through hell just to convince myself that I'm getting my moneys worth.
I watch Villa out of a form of addiction, mixed with blind hope. I don't watch them to glean 90 minutes of football, regardless of the scoreline.
-
I once left at half time but my son was 2 and a half at the time and it was his first match (early cup round game can't remember against who). He's now strutting around in a McGinn shirt and totally loves Villa.
Last night was totally bonkers - enjoyable but we were abject for most of the game. Personally I think people can do what they want - we were terrible (again) and fans have the right to make their feelings known to the club.
However, our comeback shows there is character and guts in the team so hopefully it will spur us on.
-
If fans boo they boo, if fans leave early, fair play to them. If fans moan, moan away, if fans think everything is great, & you should never question anything, fine as well. Personally I think Deans has got things wrong, but I want him to stop, I have supported in the eyes of a storm and moaned my head of in the Holte, it’s the way it goes!
-

I do as well. I like to growl like my German Shepherd, Frabbo and then march to Aston Station howling like a wolf.
As Scouse songsmith John Lennon said: what ever gets you through the night, is alright.
In my younger days, we would stay until the bitter end and had nothing but disdain for "the seats" who would start slow hand clapping and fuck off early doors at the drop if a hat.

Phrases used by idiots:
1) He's lost the dressing room
2) Yes you're right everything's perfect
3) You can't say that on here.

We often watch the last few minutes of the game from the top of the stairs, as per last night. The one game we did leave early and by the time we got back to the car found out we'd come from behind to win, I can't remember who it was against, other than it was a European game. Think we were 2-0 down, and Gary Charles either scored 2 goals or was involved in setting them up.

The only time I can ever recall leaving early was when we lost 2-0 at home to Le Tissier in 1993. I'd probably have stuck that out too, but the cold seeping into my feet from the Holte End concrete was in danger of causing frostbite.
-
I left early on 80 minutes. I don't recall the last time I left that early. Even stayed until the death when Liverpool beat us 6. I thought if Ieft 10 mins early i might have a chance of kissing my daughter goodnight to bed whilst she was still stirring, being the soppy sod i am.
Typically shed just gone fast to sleep after I'd got in anyway.
-
I wasn’t there but I wouldn’t have left early if I was. (Had a job interview up north so couldn’t be there)
I ended up having to watch it on my iPad and I don’t blame anyone for leaving early. We weren’t just 3-0 down, we were showing no signs of life.
There’s no need to call it a walk of shame, but nights like Friday are why those of us who stay, stay. Because there is no better feeling in football than an unlikely last minute comeback, or winner.
.....and on nights like Friday, missing that feeling is it’s own punishment. There’s no need for name calling.
As an aside, a combination of goal alerts, & texts from Jane, were arriving a little before each goal on the iPad. Just a I said ‘ironic cheers from the Holte because we’ve actually got a corner’ - my phone went ‘ping’ & I was surprised to see we were about to score! It possibly spoilt it a bit to actually be waiting for the 3rd to go in after getting a text from Jane saying ‘Yesssssss!!!’ But not much!
As a further aside, the other game I had to miss this season was Forest. There’s a theme emerging.
-
I think SHQ was joking. Plus, it doesn't matter whether we're losing, drawing or winning. Come 80 minutes, half the Witton Lane lower will leave. Bizarre.
