Villa Park
Friday 2.11.18
7.45pm KO
2-0 home win
Abraham 18
Grealish 74

They were a rugby league side last year. The snidey, physical and absolutely dark arts merchants.
I fancy us to be better suited to breaking them down this time.
Important win to reflect our dominance and boost confidence.
-
12-0.
-
Driving up from work in Exeter on my own. If anyone wants to share a lift from the South West up the M5 PM me.
-
No ifs buts or maybes, this has to be a home win.
-
FT northern F’ers.
-
12-0.
Pessimist
-
12-0.
I could cope with that.👍
-
I think I saw them win 12 -0 once. Charlton wasn't It? Or was that 12-1?
-
1-0. Kodjia
-
Can't see much more than a one goal win . Could be 1 nil here.
We really should get the 3 points, Bolton have one win in ten or something and don't really score away from home.
They are a big physical team but look out for Erhun Oztumer, 5ft nothing and scored many a wonder goal for Walsall over past two seasons (once from the halfway line). Started for them last match.
-
3-0 in the Gavin McCann memorial.
-
I think I saw them win 12 -0 once. Charlton wasn't It? Or was that 12-1?
11-1. Hitchens scored five.
-
Home win. We'll score at least 3.
-
4-0 Tammy x2 and Jack with a couple.
-
Got to win, no ifs, no buts, 3-0
-
5-0 or thereabouts.
-
5-0 or thereabouts.
Only if they sack Phil Parkinson and re-appoint Megson in next 24 hours.
His idea to park his back 4 on the halfway line against Gabby and Young was always a glorious tactic back in the day.
-
It clicks a bit now Dean has had more time with the team
so 4 0
Chester
Tammy
Bolaise
Jack if still on pitch or Thor If not
-
2-1 - defensive c8ck up from us but 2 goals and in control.
-
Not sure there are too many options in terms of changes to be honest. I suppose Hutton could go over to left back and Elmohamady drop to right back, with either Bolasie or El Ghazi playing right wing. There will be a decision about who out of Bjarnason, Whelan and Jedinak plays in the defensive midfield role, but can't see much else changing to be honest.
-
I tend to predict 2-1 wins when we are at home, usually including the opposition pulling a late one back to make us sweat, but I will go a relatively comfortable 2-0 for this one.
-
2-1 Villa
-
Bolton have one win in ten or something and don't really score away from home.
In the olden days this would have been a dead cert "Welcome to Villa Park and the gift that keeps giving"
-
A nice early goal for us would be nice, raise the confidence and settle the fans down. Come on you Villa boys.
-
1-0.
Expect squeaky bum torment for at least the last half hour.
-
expect our home form to keep us out the shite till January and re-shaping the squad. 3-1
-
Villa 9 Trotters 0.
-
Our German supporters, the German Villans, are celebrating their 20th anniversary at the Bolton game tomorrow.

Is Albert or BB fit?
If so I'd go with;
Nyland
Taylor
Chester
Tuanzebe
Hutton
McGinn
BB
Albert
Grealish
Bolasie
Tammy
-
Albert is back having trained all week but BB is out according to the OS.
Seems the positivity & excitement has died down already, 10,000 down on the crowd for tomorrow and only 2 pages on the pre-Match Thread.
3-0 lets get it going again, UTV!
-
Still 31,000 and Bolton have sold 300, which is 2500 down on what Swansea did.
-
I'd say 30k + for Bolton is pretty decent tbh considering the time and Bolton's small travelling following.
Next fixtures after will be back up to decent levels, SHA obviously a sell out and Forest and Stoke will both be around 35k as they'll sell their allocations.
-
This is when all the pieces are going to just fall right into place......Villa 4-0 win easy.
-
have we won on a Friday night?
-
have we won on a Friday night?
Leeds last season?
-
Wasn't Bristol City at home last season a Friday night?
-
31k for Bolton at home on a Friday night on Sky is decent, if they'd sold out it would be 33k+. I remember us getting a crowd of about 26k against Bolton in the Premier League. No other team in this league would get that crowd whilst sitting 17th in the league, even Leeds would only get around 25k.
4-0 to us tonight. The march up the table starts here.
-
Come on the Villa, let's return to winning ways tonight. Out of the country so can't be there, but I'll certainly be following from afar. UTV
-
The season starts here. 4-0
-
Unlikely to keep a clean sheet so 2-1.
-
Albert being fit is hardly cause for celebration, he has been mediocre for a long time.
-
I've no idea really, but we should win. We've shown enough to see off teams at home really but I have a nagging doubt that the new managers impact, in terms of results at least, might take longer than we would like.
2-2.
-
have we won on a Friday night?
Villa 3 Swansea 0 (Bremner, Withe and Morley) 21/5/82. We beat another foreign team 1-0 five days later.

I'm going for a 3-0
Nyland
Taylor
Chester
Tuanzebe
Bree
McGinn
Hourihane
Grealish
Albert
Tammy
Bolasie
-
Right now any win will do to change the tide a bit. 2-1 Villa. Tammy and Connor to get our goals.

Pretty sure I heard Dean Smith saying in his press conference Bjarnason is injured and will miss tonight.
-
4-0 Villa. A real feel good performance and evening. Bolton are bobbins.
-
Yes, BB is crocked so stop thinking about him.
-
For everyone's sanity and nerves I sincerely hope it's not three losses on the bounce - I predict a nervy 2-1 victory
C'mon Smithy sort the feckers out and point us in the right direction
-
I wouldn't be suprised if we see 1-2 of the youngsters in the 18 for this, there were plenty missing for the game the other day who will clearly have been training with the main squad and I think the extra energy will see some of them get a look in over the next few weeks.

I certainly hope so mate.
-
In a way, the two defeats have taken away the expectation levels for Smith, so if he can now put together a decent run it'll stand him in good stead.

Oh for a victory that isn’t nervy! At half time against Preston I was thinking this is easy, will finish 3 or 4 nil. If only we could win comfortably.

Think this would be a good opportunity to do that Paul. Not sure we'll see them starting! but we might see a couple of young players on the bench.
-
It's just Hourihane in. No surprises.
