Good stuff. In the nicest way I hope you are wrong and he goes soon

Good article, Dave. I was at the game and your description is depressingly accurate. Steve Bruce will go this season, that much is obvious. Like Three Spires Villa, I hope it's sooner rather than later.

I tend to agree about the month's notice.

I think our new CEO will need to get a replacement lined up before issuing the P45 in the next international break unless Bruce suddenly gets us playing like Barcelona.

I do think that is sensible but (making myself look stupid) I would get rid now, the longer Steve Bruce is in charge, more of the season and games we waste. Not my call, but if it was I would end his management tonight.

I agree with Dave.  Whilst I too would end his tenure tomorrow morning, I think they feel a sense of duty to allow him to pick a fully fit side that he put together.  I think we will get a draw and a win in our next two games and then they will take it from there.  Treading water until the next time we lose.  Bruce is under pressure now every time we drop a point.  Especially if we do it in the way we did it yesterday.

We've got 6 very winnable and valuable points to play for, better pick up the points and thank him on his way out the door.
For me, apart from the fact he should have been sacked 15 months ago, ignoring that he should never have been given the job to begin with, he's not the man to take us forward unless stability is the end game but that game being played in the Championship.

Last two seasons history tells us that he will have us playing like Barca for about 3 matches and then like Small Heath for the next 7.

Good read however I do hope he is still not about two further bad results from departure.

I hope you're wrong, Dave. I look forward to reading an Extra-pressed in the next few days.

I agree with Rudy.  The tenure of Bruce has been the death of a thousand cuts.  He has benefited from those in authority buying into the promotion specialist theory in which team performances are of secondary importance.  It has not worked because football and football management has moved on at such a pace Bruce has been marooned like an ice age mammoth.  He should have gone fifteen months ago but changed his promotion specialist get out of jail card for a stability is the key one but delivered neither stability nor promotion.  His third metamorphosis came when the club changed hands and his current get out of jail card is not the right time for a new manager with all the other club upheaval.  Every day he remains as Villa manager is a day further from our recovery.

Do you mind saving any fuss, Brian, and always add my name to your thoughts?

I agree with every word - as always.

I am imagining the sounds of Vivaldi's 4 Seasons played on Nigel Kennedy's best violin...

only played by Steve Bruce wearing boxing gloves!

I hope they don't get caught up listening the comments of the likes of Stuart Pearce on Talksport.  'If Bruce is clueless, then the rest of us must be morons', or words to that effect.  They don't get to watch the week after week shite that we do, but this old boys network is alive and kicking, so sacking Bruce would also be quite a brave decision too.  Needs doing, get on with it.

Pearce is a moron as are most people on talksport so he's not wrong.

As I say, they only get to see the highlights, we get to see it every week and see the minute detail of the piss poor tactics, throwing players under the bus, playing them in the wrong positions etc.  They are in that station because they can't get proper management jobs.  Micky Quinn is an illiterate fat twat, Parlour is a disgrace to football and Ally McCoist was always a chancer.  Pearce rocks up every time he's sacked by a club.

Many a true word spoken in jest and all that...
