I've parked and drunk here for the last 20 years through various ownership, sorry to see its closing. Will there be anywhere left to get a drink around the ground soon! Things bad on the pitch, in the boardroom and now behind the bar...

Aside from the bad news, everything they have published is available to read on Facebook, there is no journalism involved here at all. No attempt to speak to the owners, find out what happened etc.

I only ever drink in town pre match nowadays. When pubs start charging for entry (I'm not saying the Sacred Heart did because I don't know), I go elsewhere
-
Sad, used it a lot over the years, good pub
-
Its a strange thing about the way Aston is changing that we are going to end up being one of those grounds in the middle of an industral estate with no pubs, despite never having moved!
-
Sad news, been going in there for many, many years!

Good excuse to come to The Bartons instead mate.
Do you remember Pete Wilkes from the Forest? He is in most games.
-
First time I went there must have been earlyish 90s. There were no signs that it was a club and when a mate first took me I thought we were walking into someone's house.

Good one. The way it's going the Witton Arms is going to be one of the most valuable pubs in the country.

It must be hard for such a business to survive in this area and on so few trading days - I would suggest that the demographics of this part of B6 and the make up of the community make a licensed premises non profitable unless they diversify to meet the needs or requirements of the majority of residents. Ie something like the Clay Oven Banqueting Suits in Ealing - where many of us enjoyed the hospitality of the hosts when we played in the FA Semi Final/Final

Hold your horses
I have it on very good authority that new people will be coming in.

Could be a distinct possibility now mate!

I've just been told it's open tomorrow.

Try the Bartons anyway.

Is the Sacred Heart open pre-match tomorrow?

One of the unique things about Villa Park is that it is surrounded by industrial units and low income housing on 3 sides, but is also in the grounds of a stately home!

This pub has been open all season and took my £10 membership fee at the Everton game so it better bloody stay open!
-
Can you get in without membership?

Can you get in without membership?
Yes. Entry fee is £2.

No, don't, it's a pain in the arse getting served as it is.

I've never been charged after a match? Anyway, it's our place of choice after a midweek game.
