Sad news. Another character gone. R.I.P

Taken from FB:
t is with the greatest regret I have to announce that my good friend Johnny Groombridge has been found dead in his apartment.
He had many more friends at the Vine and almost every Villa fan from near and far was his soul mate.
We are unsure at the moment about the cause of death but I will repost as soon as we know more and the funeral details.
Our thoughts are with his family at this very sad time😪
RIP Johnny G✞

Johnny was certainly a larger than life Character.
Some of his exploits are probably best left for the wake.
Regrets to the family and close friends, have a word with Bootsie and Haddon Johnny.

Bloody hell we are dropping like flies .
Some character Jonny .
RIP fella HEITS

Never met him but heard his name frequently mentioned by London Lions in the 1980s. He sounded like a real character. RIP.

Only just seen this. I went to Norwich with him in the ‘84 League Cup quarter-final, and was in (and more memorably outside) Sara Moons before the Birmingham Senior Cup Final at the Sty in ‘85 or ‘86. He certainly saved our bacon that day as, virtually single-handed, he sent the Zulus packing at the height of their notoriety. Surely a measure of his legendary status that I can so clearly remember the two occasions when I was in close proximity to him, mainly due to everybody nudging each other and whispering ‘that’s Johnny Groombridge’.
RIP.

Respect Johnny
Will post other stories over time.
