Title: Golf 2018
Post by: Rotterdam on April 03, 2018, 08:05:43 AM
The Masters is coming...
Betting-wise, I've gone with past winners Bubba, Big Phil both at 25/1 and Spieth. A couple of quid on Kuchar.

Myself and some old uni mates are golfing in Portugal from Thursday morning, so golf in the morning, beers in the afternoon and The Masters in the evening.

Fantastic effort from Ian Poulter to qualify by winning a tournament in Houston after so narrowly missing out in the previous week's matchplay tournament.

Anyway, to win, Justin Thomas and a sneaky each way on Justin Rose and Alex Noren.

If you were looking for an English winner, you would pick Rose, with Poulter and Casey a long sight. A lot people have forgotten it was only 2 years we had an English winner in Danny Willett. His form has dropped dramatically since then and he is now ranked 296th in the world. Following his win, it looked like he had a very bright future ahead of him.

He's only 30 so there's is time for him to recover his form, but his decline reminds me of Sandy Lyle, whose form also dived after winning the Masters in 1988 and he was never the same golfer again.

Always take a slightly scattergun approach to my Masters betting so have backed Speith 12s, Thomas 10s and Watson 20s win only and Kuchar 45s, Scott 55s and Haotong Li 175s each way all with Skybet 1/5 odds, 10 places

Here are my value takes  50/1 + for 1st round leaders ew 6 places and also to win (10places)

1st round leader.
Pat Perez  80/1
Harman 55/1
Hadwin  80/1
Kisner 80/1

And to win some small Stakes on these 4
Pat Perez 125/1
Hadwin 125/1
Harman 66/1
Kisner 100/1

Also if anyone likes to make some money I did some research and 14 of last 16 hole in ones occurred on 16th hole.

** 11/8 hole in one on 16th hole. **YES

That's any day by anyone over 4 days!

Casey, Kuchar, Speith and Michelson are also very consistent at masters and any one backing them will be there or therebouts come Sunday.

I taken my punts as they are over 50/1 and see some value.

The main 3 I taking to win however are:

ROSE
THOMAS
FOWLER

Looking forward to this!!

Agree on JT. He's been playing fantastic golf. Great form. Just hope he doesn't feel pressure to become world number 1.

Noren one I looked at and along with Rose very wise picks in my opinion.

Enjoy!

I'm with you on Thomas and Rose winning!!

I'm not sure where they stayed, but I know Bruce has a gaff near Vilamoura.
We're booked on Pine Cliffs, Victoria and the Old Course.

Nope hasn't been mentioned at all.   There should be more hype about him.

I see Garcia just had a 13.  I don't know how you don't say "fuck it", throw your clubs in the pond and go for a few bevvies instead.

After day 1 had a nice ew place on hadwin top 6. 80/1. He's playing well and may have chance of top 10.

Of my big priced  outsiders Hadwin and perhaps Kisner offer best of being in 10 places at end.

My 3 main out rights were
FOWLER
THOMAS
ROSE
Rose got to level even for day yesterday so not  bad and Fowler started to come good so can still see those two in top 10 or winning.
I think  JT round on day was pretty bad and don't see him winning now because of this .

Round 2 today have to say after yesterday Speith was looking mighty impressive but Rory mc caught my eye and he's doing well so far today def a contender to outright winner.

Keep a look out for :

Have to say MCilroy looks really strong and stats are good.
And the kooch.

Cameron Smith as outsider

And at this moment 7 are tied for leader

Me too. It might be the red shirt on Sunday thing, something quite iconic for someone who’s achieved very little. He comes across as a cocky bastard. I’d love Rory to torch him. But Reed is talented and dogged. It’s going to be tough to pull back a 3 shot lead, not impossible though.

He looks like a bully. A loadmouth, chubby, obnoxious one. Perhaps more at home in the crowd boorishly shouting something inane.
He may be just the opposite.

Stunning 2nd shot to the 2nd hole from Rory only to miss a 3 foot eagle putt.

Still already within one of Reed so getting very interesting.

Anyone joined me in the hole in one betting advise on the 16th??

I said from research that 14 in 16 holes in one have come on 16th hole and was a cash cow as a bet. For anytime hole in one on 16th

Charley Hoffman aced one for the 16th!!

And I think he or speith take this to a play off
Title: Re: Golf 2018
Post by: taylorsworkrate on April 08, 2018, 09:47:34 PM
Reed playing badly, but through a combination of good short play and good luck is sticking around a 3 shot lead.

Rory has just missed way too many short putts, added to his pretty awful (by his standards) driving and it looks as though his chance is all but gone. Spieth is on the charge and he now appears to be my main hope to stop the monumental thundercunt Reed from winning.

Speith is -7 thru 13 holes now at -12. He knows how to win. Rory just hasn’t had the fire today.

I don't think you can overstate how crucial Rory missing that very easy eagle putt on the 2nd hole has been. He was so pumped up after hitting that amazing shot, it looks to have completely deflated him. Hence missing a no of other short putts since (putts he's been making all week)

Think Spieth may just run out of holes, as Reed still has both the par 5's to play.

Amazingly it's since 10 years now, since Tiger won his last major. He had a ruptured ACL in his left knee, but still managed to beat Rocco Mediate in a 18 hole play off plus sudden death finish.

Wouldn't rule him out this year, 22/1 with the bookies, but hoping for a Justin Rose victory, he's in form at the moment.

Rose and Poulter right up there though.

I think its pretty pathetic the amount of moaning from players about the conditions and how "unfair" the us open course is.

Get to fuck. For once it isnt the boreathon 15 under and lower that routinely wins majors these days and the arseholes can't take it.

Great summer of Sport continues at Carnoustie, said to be the toughest course on the Open rota, having said that the conditions for the 4 days are forecasted to be good.

Fleetwood and Rose look like the best bet for an English win, although Rose's Open record is poor. On the European front I would go for Francesco Molinari or Alex Noren, from America Rickie Fowler and Tiger at 25 - 1 is a good each way. Some bookies are paying out on top 10 places.
Title: Re: Golf 2018

I've gone Rickie, Noren and Thorbjorn Olesen.

At the start I thought Tiger was a good each way bet, but after today's 66 now only 4 off the lead, must have a good chance of winning, but Spieth looks the best bet.

Still an outside chance of an English win with Fleetwood and Rose, Rory also in conention. Tomorrow should be good.

Great win for Molinari, to go bogey free for the final round of the Open is a superb effort.

Golf wasn't great, but it was compelling stuff, at one time it looked like it could be a 6 ball play off. Good efforts from Rory and Justin.

Molinari an absolute machine today. Great player who has been in tremendous form this summer. Will be great for the Ryder Cup team.

Rory so good and so bad at the same time. Some ridiculously awesome drives, and some very poor putting at times. If he was even a top 30 putter he'd have won 10 majors by now.

It is a joke though.
Eleven sports are streaming the first 2 rounds free via facebook - or so they said. I watched it earlier and they only showed the Woods, McIlroy, Thomas group. To see full coverage on Eleven you have to sign up for the subscription on their website.

But pga.com has a decent free coverage (no sign up) - tonight you could watch Rose, Spieth, Rahm or Reed, Koepka, Molinari groups or watch coverage of the last 3 holes. Hopefully this will be for the whole 4 days, not just the first round.

Update - the site is actually pgatour.com and right now they're showing the 2nd rounds of Rose, Speith, Rahm and Johnson, Watson, Scott. The coverage is good and the stream is excellent.
