Currently on Sky ‘The Debate’ featuring Steve Sidwell and Nigel Reo-Coker.
I’d have thought that the latter would be working for Barcelona TV by now
-
Reo-Coker seems to be trying to carve out a media career now.
He was on 5 live last week and said he was actually training with MK Franchise so something may come from that.
I wonder if he might make a decent coach/manager, he was always very vocal in the odd reserve game I went to when he was here and playing in them.

He will want the Chelsea or Man City jobs to start with.

Nah, he's lining himself up for the Real Madrid job when it becomes available at the end of the season. He's a shoe in for it.

Just reading up on what he's done in recent years. Apparently last May, IK Start of the Norwegian first division signed him up only to terminate his contract 6 weeks or so later. I know he was limited and many on here were not fans of his but I think he could surely have played premier league football until only a couple of years ago (he's 34 now), so I do wonder what happened. I can only suspect that he's a bit touched.
-
I think he could still do a job
there's definitely a player in there somewhere
he can break things up
-
Saw a clip from MOTD 2 where he was declaring his undying love for West Ham saying amongst other things what a special family club West Ham are. When asked weren't Villa like that too he didn't answer. At least Stephen Warnock attempted to reign in NRC. In his defence maybe he does feel that way - I get different people have different relationships with different clubs but it seemed a little over the top (and didn't he come from West Ham?).
edit
Just looked up his stats and he made the most appearances of his career with West Ham
-
Didn't West Ham fans absolutely hate him? Not because he left and came to us, but something happened there previously, I vaguely remember.
Anyway, he was fucking shit.

Awful and limited player
He fell out at West Ham by scoring against Man U, but refusing to celebrate in protest about the previous abuse he had taken from the fans. Or something like that
-
Was he not linked with someone quite good, like Arsenal, and made it pretty clear he'd be keen to go? I may be talking shite.

It’s all good and we’ll breaking things up but it falls apart if the next thing he does it give it away. There’s a reason he’s out of the game. Fuck he couldn’t even make it in MLS.
-
NRC was only any good at winning the ball back, and he only had to do that so often as he gave it away in the first place. If anything sums him up it Chelsea at home, 0-0, at the death NRC wins the ball and is through one on one with Cech. And misses the target. I don't think in my 40+ years of going down VP i've ever been less confident we'd score a one on one than that moment.
-
Reo-Coker’s nickname at West Ham was Nigel Mediocre, tells you all you need to know.
-
Some of them in passing used to refer to his as Nigel Reo-Cokehead.
He wasn't the Real Thing
-
I didn't mind NRC too much. Yes his passing was awful but his energy and mobility helped us play the high tempo game under MON. Regular in two sixth place finishes wasn't he?
He's just signed for MK Franchise btw.
Sidwell was more disappointing of the two. Thought he was excellent for Reading and early on he scored some crackers for us but he just amounted for little and know just known for throwing the ball which lead to a Milner goal when he wasn't even on the pitch!

He was part of the "Baby Bentley" generation along with Harewood and Anton Ferdinand.

West Ham had a great season when they reached the cup final in 2006 but were awful the next season and loads of their fans blamed Reo-Coker with him being captain.
Edit:
Incredible as it now sounds, Marlon Harewood — not Theo Walcott — would have gone to the
World Cup as Sven Goran Eriksson’s wild card had he not been injured during the Cardiff
the players were unsettled by the feverish takeover speculation and the arrival of two allegedly worldclass Argentines
It was the Tevez and Mascherano season.
-
There's an allegation that turned out to be 100% true
-
Yes Tevez was amazing in the run in although with it being West Ham he wasn't properly registered of course....
Mascherano couldn't get a game ahead of Hayden Mullins.
-
The best game I saw him play for Villa was the pre season friendly against Inter. He was very good at breaking up play as a defensive midfielder but pretty limited apart from that.
-
He played very well in the home win v Chelsea few weeks later (Doug offering his hand to Abramovich as he left game).
If I was to describe NRC as a footballer I'd say he couldn't pass or shoot but was good at other aspects of the game. Tried to work that one out!
-
Missed a sitter at the Sty. I'm glad he did as it made the late winner even better.
There was a story that O'Neill was shocked to realise that he couldn't pass when viewing him in training after he'd signed him.
-
Reo Coker was rubbish.
I remember him more for dancing like a divvy in this video than anything he did in a Villa shirt.
-
Think I read it on VT shortly after he signed he went for an eye test at a Birmingham city centre opticians (someone who was posting worked there) and was pescribed glasses as his eye sight was awful so watching him afterwards I also wonder if he'd left his contacts in the dressing room.
His passing was that bad under pressure in some games.

Wow! Just... Wow! I don't know whether to thank you or curse you for that video. It's like something Pogba would do now but crucially without the talent, charisma or fun.
-
He was better than the player he replaced (McCann) and better for us than Sidwell. Feint praise!
I certainly wouldn't remember him as a bad player, but for the money we paid at the time he was underwhelming certainly.

I don't remember him as a bad player either
Just a complete fucking rubbish one

I used to like NRC. Especially the early days. I always thought we looked a better team with him in it, despite his own shortcomings.
I saw him in a recent interview talking about "the West Ham way", and that cemented him in the Bell end camp for me.
I remember almost getting into a punch up with a guy outside a nightclub over him though years ago. I think Petrov was playing ahead of him at the time, and I was talking with my own mates (Two bluenoses and others) probably fairly loudly, about how I'd much prefer to see NRC in the team (time has passed and changed my view on things). Anyway, a couple of lads (Villa fans) overheard and one chap took it upon himself to talk me out of my opinion. All was fine, I disagreed blah blah, then he uttered the words "NRC is just a typical N*****r". My face turned apparently and I think I was about to go for him, but my Bluenose, mixed race mate heard it all and grabbed me and very quickly pulled me away and said we were going somewhere else, and then calmly said to me as we we're walking away "he's a prick, and he's not worth you ending your night in a cell, lets get fucking smashed"
