Classic Yorke goal in this one.
-
I think Mark Blake may have made his debut in that game. Was it also 'the Paul Mortimer incident' game?

No, that was Luton.

That was a good win that day, despite Teale's own goal starting us off on the wrong foot. We gradually built our way back into it.
The Luton game was the 4-0, wasn't it?

Got there about a minute late for this one and missed the O.G
Walking down Witton Lane on my lonesome from the 11 bus, there were hoards of Forest fans (must have been delayed) coming the other way.

I was at the game and the Yorke goal (a break from a Forest corner) was one of the best goals I've seen Villa score. It was a brilliant performance and I remember saying to my friends that we should sign Roy Keane as he had a great game and was about 19 or 20 at the time.

We were in for him but he signed for United.

I thought that was just paper talk. I think Keane basically had a choice between United and Blackburn. If I remember right from Keane's book 'King Kenny' didn't take his decision very well.

BFR did want him but if it was us or Manchester United in 1993 he was never going to sign for us.

The Yorke goal aside, my abiding memory is it was the first game that my mate came to after a year travelling in South America. I was enthusing to him on the way about the team that BFR was building, and probably a bit too fulsome in my praise of Shaun Teale as a partner to God. My mate turns to me after 10 seconds and says - laughing - "You were saying, Rob...?"
