Kick off 19:45 tomorrow.
Thought I'd post the thread.
We haven't won five league matches in a row since when? 1997/98?
-
Anyone looking forward to the match? 8)

1-1.

Can’t wait for this. 1-2 Villa with an 83rd minute winner. It’s going to be tight though.

Blades 1 Villa 2

Thanks Legion.

Johnstone
Elmo Chester Terry Hutton
Tuanzebe
Snodgrass Hourihane Grealish Adomah
Hogan
Subs:
Bunn
Onomah
Bjorn
Taylor
Davis
Lansbury
O'Hare (Although he will pick Whelan to kill game off)
2-0
Hogan, Grealish
That is the strongest we have looked all season with strong defence and lots of movement going forward and a striker on form. They were caught cold at VP and were quickly 2-0 only then for Jedinak to have a nightmare. This game we have a better organised defence so hopefully we can score and seal the game off
-
Draw wouldn't be a terrible result given the next two games and it would put us back into fourth above Bristol City as well. Would obviously prefer a win and see us maybe grinding a hard earned 1-0 result out.
-
Is the game being televised?

Yes it’s on Sky
-
we have prices as long as 2.5-1 on this one. Absurd considering we have won 4 on the bounce including away at Boro. Worth a punt surely...

Is Jedinak not fit? If he is I'd be starting with him, no doubt. Otherwise the team seems to pick itself at the moment.

The healthier, fresher, more motivated side to win. Last time we played a side just off an FA Cup win we burst that bubble. I'm going for a bold 3-1 to our boys. Hogan, Jack and Albert for us.

Close, but...
Clarke for them. Hogan, Jack and Terry for us.

Ciaran Clarke?
-
Tough 1-0 win. Hogan to continue his form
-
3-0 Villa, 2-0 Millwall, 2nd place is ours! Simple.
-
2-0 no sweat and time to teach them a lesson for for being impolite at Villa Park last month.
-
Any sort of win will do! May be lucky to get away with a point if we show them the respect we gave derby and Leeds. Didn't go Brentford so can't add them
-
0-2
-
2-1 to us. It will involve a two goal lead, conceding in the last ten and Terry marshalling the Alamo at the back when they do get one. Hogan will score, as will Adomah. Tuanzebe will start in place of Thor and get sent off to get them their goal. I didn't dream about the game at all last night. At least Mourinho spent 5 minutes in his press conference slagging our ref the next day!
-
Score first and I think we'll do them this time. If they have to go chasing then our extra rest should see us through.
-
Going to this, so we will put in a deradfully boring performance and lose 0-3!! ;D
Difficult game. Would take a draw, but can see us nicking it by the single goal
-
Very tough game this, would love a point now 1-1
-
6 players at this time pick themselves.
JT and Chessie.
Then Snoddy, Jack, Alberto and Hulk
Hourihane and Hutton pushing for that too so that's 8 places.
I would think Whelan is in for this. BB to be benched
Right back will be elmo and hutts stays at left back.
Therefore
Johnstone
Elmo
Chessie
JT
Hutts
Snoddy
Whelan of the Glenn
Hourihane
AA.
Jack
Hulk
A.T. To be part of solid bench
Though that bench needs another more experienced attacking player.
GK Bunn
Tuanzebe
Bjarnason
Taylor
Green
Lansbury
Davis
(onomah, agbonlahor, O'Hare Jedinak !! 4 could come instead on bench of others can't seem to fit them all on)
1-3 villa. A repeat of 4 goals in match not without drama but a solid defensive side with JT rather than Jedinak in centre defence and a more energised attack gives confidence to win this and push on.
-
Yes, let's be honest - We were in cruise control at 2-0 until Mile had a horror show. If JT had played we would not have been 2-2 at half time.
-
Professional and boring will do, so long as we win. Belief is all!
-
Nailbiting 1-0 win.
-
If they play 3 at the back then they'll only be playing it for half an hour at which point they'll be 2 or 3 nil down.
I cannot fathom the formation and why people persist with it. 4141 is the ideal formation to tear it apart.
-
oh I don't know, think it'll be close something like:
Hogan 2 Hourihan 1 something like that Chester may get in on the act though.
-

I completely agree. Especially with our players:
The inverted wingers and full backs can just double up on their wing backs all the time
We’ve got three in the middle, but generally much more attacking quality than the oppo
In theory hogan could get outnumbered but in practice it seems that the attacking midfielders can just take it in turns to break onto the defence and support him
-
I've gone for a draw. Probably 1-1. They seem to be tailing off after a good start to the season, but it is still a tough place to go and win.

Three tough away games : This one, Norwich and Fulham ,would love a win but might have to settle for a draw.
-
We gonna smash this. Jack to score the winner, cue mayhem.

That I could live with.
-
Villa 2-1 - Hogan and Hourihane. The number of games is starting to catch up with the Blades and their squad is not of the same depth as ours. Watched their game v Wednesday and found their play quite one dimensional and predictable.
-
Hogans form to continue 2 4
-
Game management displayed at Forest where we entirely dictated the tempo and territory second half will be key.
We made some naive mistakes at Villa Park against them. Important they're not repeated.
I'd go with,
Johnstone
Hutton
Terry
Chester
Elmo
Thor
Snodgrass
Hourihane
Grealish
Adomah
Hogan
-
This will be a tough one. Clarke and Donaldson will be a handful but we're more than capable of coming away with something. A draw would be a reasonable result but the three points really would shake things up. I'll go 2-2. Grealish and Adomah with ours.

I'm in agreement that a point would be a decent result tonight, but I've got a feeling! :D
So, I'm predicting (ie praying) we can keep the winning run going & bag a sneaky 2-1. UTV
-
I'm thinking this would be the kind of game to bring Jedinsk back in for, unlucky on BB but Jedi's presence could be crucial. Very confident we will do it, 0-2. Hogan and Hourihane
-

I agree. Bjarnason hasn't done much wrong the last couple of games, but think we'll need Jedinak's physicality for this one. Nice problem to have though, with options in most departments of the pitch. If we can win tonight then batter Burton, the rest of the division is really going to start to shit itself.
-
The key to all three points tonight is not switching off for 45 minutes. So many times we've been great for the first 45 then it's like a different team in the second. We need to raise our game a level to not only protect our lead but build on it. It's a massive game for both teams, I just hope we're not relying on them being tired after their cup game for as we've seen in this division, it doesn't normally work like that.

Not sure I do. Jedi was crap against them last time, surely this wil be on his mind and may try to play "harder". We've had solid results over the last few games with Bjarnason really looking the part and we've had a good rest so lets keep it solid and show some respect to the individuals who are "keeping the shirt".

Their fans seem a little upset that that ours are confident of a win. Tin pot club syndrome lol.

They've won 1 of their last 6 home games in the league.

Are we supposed to apologise for being bigger and better than they'll ever be then?

Yes, apparently lol

I've just read that blog no wonder it upset their fans - Christ! It's painful. Sheffield United are what I consider a proper club and would no doubt be higher without their injuries (although we've had plenty so that's another debate). Are they supposed quotes from different fans? Hardly the contrasting views that we get on here if so. Maybe H&V is a broader church than I realised.

I just clicked on that link. Where do they find these comments from? That doesn't sound like any Villa fan I ever speak to.Maybe someone (a nose)with good knowledge of I.T does it as we regularly see such bullshit comments before games. Who cares anyhow? If fans of other clubs can be so precious and listen to such bollox that's their problem. Fuck em. 3-1 to the mighty Villa.

but I've got a feeling!
That tonight's gonna be a good night?

They do seem a tad upset, bless.
And when were those absolutely terrible gates? Even the year we finished bottom we averaged over 33K. Only twice in their history have Sheff Utd averaged such "absolutely terrible gates".
Fuck I hope we smash em now and I hope Birmingham smash em too. I despise Villa for no real reason other than they were just one of those boring average Prem clubs for so long getting good gates when doing well but absolutely terrible gates when doing bad. Such a c*** club.

I look at things like that and I see what damage that wanker O'Leary did to our reputation. You'd have to have been a particularly obsessive and lying Blue even by their standards to find fault with our attendances over the years until Pugnose came out with his shite.
-
Currently 2nd attendance wise in the Championship (Sheffield Utd 5th - Blues 11th) http://www.worldfootball.net/attendance/eng-championship-2017-2018/1/ We're 11th in the Premiership so 12th in the country. Can see us getting bigger attendances in the remainder of the season. I know we had the biggest away attendance in the country last year.

Add to that some of the shit that has been served up for most of this century at Villa Park, I'm amazed at the great support we get. The one thing I will give Bruce credit for, even though it's in a lower division, is the number of wins at Villa Park.

I think we'll average around 35k for the season when it's done and dusted which is pretty good.Providing we don't blow a gasket in the league. It's all been said before but we're not a club that attracts "tourists" so our crowds follow the teams fortunes generally. Which is a good thing
-
Think it is worse not being at the match tonight than suffering when you are there. Time we went for it away from home.
-
Come on villa and Millwall. A couple of wins there and my £5 double will yield £44.63....UTV and come on you lions.

It has to be said that whilst Wed have been more successful, United have been around a long time. They play on the oldest ground still in use.
But to be fair they are the poor relations. Just don't tell the in-laws I said that!
