Title: Seat Wave tickets for Aston Villa v Small Heath
Post by: wittonwarrior on January 14, 2018, 01:06:43 PM
I cannot believe that theVilla  have placed on sale via Seatwave a  whole block of seats in B1 area in the Trinity Road, what is the Club  thinking of.

Lol, not really.

Although I noticed I have been able to just get extra tickets as a season ticket holder this time without having to show that the people I am passing them on to have a booking history.

I am sure that for the last couple of seasons I haven't been able to do that.

Brighton fans were buying them up in bulk on seatwave before last game of last season but most of them got refunds before the match took place. Don't think the club is that dumb to let loads of people with no booking history into a match of this magnitude.

Booked tickets today on the Villa website and the Holte's sold out.

I'm amazed they haven't opened the upper trinity already...they know it's going to sell out regardless.

I’m surprised that Villa seem to be endorsing the reselling of tickets for the Blues game at extortionate prices.

Am I alone that feels Seatwave are just another jumped up ticket tout site peddling overpriced tickets and extortionate fees?  Going for £70-150 per ticket with c.£35 fees on top.  Link from the official Villa ticket page direct to Seatwave.

Interested on what others think about this?

Seat wave will show the actual seat won't it?  Easier enough to seeing which opportunist is trying to rip off a fellow fan

Thanks weefan, don’t really do twitter so hadn’t seen that statement.  I’m surprised they haven't put something similar on the website.

Still, doesn’t sit particularly well with me and feels like the club washing their hands of the matter. I thought it was usually standard practice to stipulate that tickets are sold at face value to prevent this kind of opportunism.

There’s a few tickets left on sale on the official site in the Holte wings. K1 and L1.
Face value, none of those disgraceful prices on the ticket tout website of Seatwave.

Yeah, I ended up going for a pair of those with restricted view as I thought I’d rather only see some of the action but still experience the atmosphere than pay the stupid prices on Seatwave.

Villa need to take a  grip over Seatwave and at the very least not agree to any  extension of  contract and bring the resale business in house.

Seeing prices  of over £100 on the site shows the club in a bad light.

It happens to other clubs all the time. We're not alone in this.

There was a ticket on there yesterday which cost over £170 with booking fees for a £30 face value ticket. That’s disgraceful. Shame on the club for entertaining anything like this, and the same to the so called fan who’s ripping off a fellow Villa supporter.

I agree Dave but the exposure over the past 2 weeks is sad to see, Villa fan ripping Villa fan off.

The club still have to print off resale tickets off and effectively distribute them so  to set up a small team and a decent working  website would not be too troublesome.

The ticket office judging by postings on the web  must be fed  up of Seatwave anyway.

The counter argument is the number of times that supporters get cheaper tickets for other games.

Seatwave have served me well in the past but £280 + £50 fees for 2 tickets in Doug Ellis(P5) shocking to be fair.

For me, if happy for tickets to be sold on there well under face value then you to have accept that occasionally they'll be over face value, however unpalatable it may be. In all the years of Viagogo and Seatwave this is the first time i've seen prices like this.

I don’t have a problem with genuine resellers, where for whatever reason they are unable to attend, recouping their costs and there being a higher admin fee to reflect the cost of checking, reallocating and printing the tickets, but there is no justification in one villa fan selling their ticket to another fan at these exorbitant costs.

The fact that the club are effectively endorsing this practice by promoting on the official ticket site shows the club in a poor light.

I wonder how many of these tickets are season ticket holders actively touting, and how many are just putting the seat out there to see how much they'd get for it or touts who've bought match tickets for re-sale (particularly as blocks such as K1 and P1 are usually deserted). Either way I would be amazed if tickets go for anything like the amounts currently being asked.

I think that it's only season ticket seats that can be sold by anyone but the club.

Quote
We bring you a way to sell your season tickets, a way to buy tickets, plus access to exclusive ticket presales. If you’re a season ticket holder and are unable to go to a match then you can sell your ticket through us. A season ticket can be a massive commitment, so the flexibility to sell your ticket for any game you can’t attend can certainly make things easier. Through our platform your ticket will only go to other Aston Villa fans, so you can rest assured your seat will be filled by someone else from the Claret and Blue Army.

Likewise, if you’re a Villa fan and want to check out a game then you’ve come to the right place. Throughout the season, Seatwave will offer fans exclusive ticket presales for a number of matches. Check on Villa’s website or Seatwave for details of upcoming ticket presales.

This. Plus I have four season tickets soon to be five , often due to childcare issues i.e. no babysitter to look after our youngest my wife dutifully agrees ( just proves don’t believe all you read ) to stay with her whilst we go and see our heroes. I use Seatwave all the time to sell our spare tickets and have to speak as I find , they always sell and that’s without ripping off fellow fans , win win .
Looking on Seatwave just there are 20 tickets left at £75-£140, the seats are clearly marked and no one is forced to buy them . Whilst I certainly don’t condone it, Cheapest Britney Spears ticket on the same site for her UK tour is £150 .....
Now that’s being ripped off.

What has almost certainly happened here is season ticket holders buying additional tickets and then attempting to tout them.  This is wrong and something the club needs to look at moving forward.

The club should need to be informed of any intended resale "invitation to treat" figure and if in excess of face value then should refuse to verify the transaction.  Villa need to be tough on this matter but no doubt don't believe they need to police this.  I do understand the Club's position, but if people don't speak out nothing will ever change.

You could be right, I know if we were successful ( that’s winning things not finishing in the top four to our younger followers ) then that would be the case. Reminds me of when we used to go to Anfield when season tickets were a book of printed tickets , one for each home game. You could always buy a season ticket off the Scousers because that’s exactly what they did.

You can only sell a ST seat on Seatwave. In theory a ST holder could have bought an extra ticket and then put their ST up for sale but I doubt many would bother. An awful lot of potential shite could come their way for a pretty small profit, and that's provided they can find someone stupid enough to stump up £100+ in the first place.

You often have to collect them from the Trinity Road ticket office. There's a specific Seatwave window. Should say in your confirmation email if it was to be posted or collected.
