Might be a bit too attacking for Bruce, so expect to see Whelan start

I actually think it boosts morale a good cup run. Think we will beat the posh and then get a tricky one 4th round and go out.

Hoping we go;
                  Steer
Bree Suliman Terry Taylor
Doyle-Hayes Bjarnasson
O’Hare Grealish Green
                Hogan

Think I read that Peterboro had sold 4200 this morning.

3-2 to Villa

Agree with this. Although MAYBE just give Hogan the start again so he gets a nice solid run of games.

As mentioned above, I think there would be a case for starting Hogan to allow him to hopefully build on his new found confidence.   The rest of the team looks good though and l would stick with the 4-1-4-1 formation with the only other change being Bjarnason partnering Lansbury in midfield.

We won't keep a clean sheet.
Barry Fry will self combust.

Don´t know what the attendance will be on Saturday but one things for sure, it won´t begin to approach the 64,531 who ( literally !) squashed  into Villa Park in Feb 1961. In addition, huge number of t Posh  fans were locked out after arriving late because of traffic problems. In fact, it was reckoned , dubiously, I have to add, that nearly 10,000 were actually left outside.
What a a day !, what a game !, both teams were great and  the atmosphere was electric, the crowd was so compacted it moved and swayed as one unit, quite scary , in retrospect but thrilling at the time...........Aye, they don´t ave games like that anymore... more´s the pity!. In the end, of course, Villa won 2-1, with McParland getting both goals..........................Godzvilla!

I expect us to win. What I am more interested in even with a number of different players in the line up is the attitude and attacking intent. Play with the same desire to get forward, create chances and take shots is a good measure of how we are going to approach things after Bristol City and hopefully the balance of the season.

This is the thing wit SB. Too often after a great performance we seem to always revert to the dross we’ve become accustomed to. Approach, effort and style always seem to fall short. There should be no excuse for anything other than a win against Peterborough regardless of the side he puts out. Grealish should play if only to show the squad our style, approach and effort is based around him from now on.

There’s no need to make massive changes and having Grealish play the same role again creates the continuity that we need to take forward with us. I also hope Hogan plays for the same reason. There should be no more than 4 or 5 changes for this. Also hopefully Terry back in.

To be honest, so did I, although it has to be said the stated ´Official Attendance´(  64,531 ) probably did´nt include those who sneaked by various methods.Remember, there was ´allegedly´another 10,00 outside, which, when you think about it, was a quite staggering number. Health & Safety etc was not a big deal in those days and the ´just pack em in´mentality often prevailed. Interesting to note  that there was actually 70,000 inside Villa Park for the 1948  the Cup Semi Final ( Spurs vs Blackpool ) . So , the ground was capable of holding that number................Godzvilla!

I'd be interested to see Terry play with Elphick, as if Chester got injured we may well see that happen.

Would definitely keep Hogan and Grealish in the team, they are playing their way into form so I wouldn't rest them

I would be tempted to give Green, De Laet, and RHM a go though.

I have been in VP with 70,000 in it and that Peterborough game was more than 64,000.  Hundreds were climbing up the back wall of the Holte and thousands over the turnstiles.  I never felt in danger but I would never allow my grandchildren to do the things I did as a boy.

4-0 and Man U in the next round.

Because apparently whenever Bruce selects a side that wins it's pretty much always down to luck and as the much shitter players he would have picked are injured.  Or something like that.

Because the only way he would ever put him in is if there are injuries to non performing older players. Lets face it if Gabby was fit RHM would not be in contention.

Hard one to predict as I don't know much about Peterborough. But we're in the envious position of having a more than capable "second string" for the level we're currently playing at. They will want to cause a big FA Cup upset. Should be a good atmosphere as they have sold around 4,000 tickets but I'm going for a hard fought 2-1 win for the villa boys. Some Villa fans are  saying that an early exit would let us concentrate on the promotion push. I say "Bollocks to that" The FA Cup is still the best domestic cup competition on the planet.  Let's go for it Villa and see where it takes us.

I just want to see the squad depth get a shot at playing. Hogan aside I would like a completely new starting 11. Really, we need to see more of the squad. We will almost certainly need them in the back half of the league season which is the overwhelming priority. Lets see what they can do. Win or lose then we have learnt something about them which can inform our january transfers.

Both teams will be more focused on the league (Peterborough are on the play-off hunt in League One), but its a good chance to give our second string a run out and I am always up for a decent Cup-run.  Have a feeling it might be a close game.  Will go 2-1 to Villa.  Hogan to get another goal for, and Davis if he plays.
