Really enjoyed reading that one.
Thanks, Dave.

Well written Dave. Isn't there a statue of Prince Albert kicking around a Birmingham Corporation depot somewhere? I am sure, as a boy, seeing Victoria and Albert immortalised in front of the Council House. If so we could give it a suitable home.

FB'd.

I also enjoyed reading it Dave.

Your best one yet. Really good read.

I thought Glenn Whelan deserved a mention too. Saturday was his best game IMO.

Agreed - thought he was excellent
Not so sure about Johnson
2 goals in two games previously directly down to him and his "foul" for their disallowed goal was slightly fortunate to be given - he really should be more positive in those situations.

I was at the football and this fella said to me
Something good is happening, I'm sure you do agree

The composure on the ball and running the clock down was one of the things that used to really gall me about the Liverpool team of the early to mid 80's. They'd stroke the ball around at the back and have opponents failing to chase them down.
I like it about us, we're learning how to win now after learning how to avoid defeat. It bodes well.

Should have given it the full Hugh Cornwell.
Something's happening and it's happening right now
You're too blind to see it
Something's happening and it's happening right now
Ain't got time to wait
And given him the finger as you sauntered off to your executive limousine.

So was the winger who couldn't stop scoring Ray Graydon? My first Villa hero and still my favourite player of all time.

Very good article, Dave.
I agree about both Whelan, who had an excellent game, and Johnstone, who's beginning to concern me a bit. He's not dominating at corners and is getting crowded out by opposing forwards

I thought he might have meant Daley but remembered he couldn't be that young ;)
-
Winger in early 70's - couldn't stop scoring? Has to be the much undervalued Ray Graydon
Anyone old enough to get the reference in the Title - Albert & the Lion(s) ??

I got the reference to Albert and the Lion(s)
"he'd a stick with an 'orse's 'ead 'andle"
Brought back happy memories of my parents.
