Carn the Tiges!! First grand final since 1982. Last won in 1980. Nearly went to the wall in the meantime. There's hope for the Villa yet.
-
Don't mind the AFL whenever I've seen it. But are the Brisbane Lions still rubbish?
-
Yep. The dismal Lions finished bottom of the pile. Their time will come again.
-
It'll be tough against the Crows though, they looked superb against Geelong.
I don't mind either of these two so add that to the Cowboys and Storm making it a Queensland dominated NRL Final and the Villa winning its been a good weekend.

Dramatic fall from grace as they were THE team when I lived in Oz 2004-06.
Colours not dissimilar to Villa (closer than some of our latest efforts anyroad) and they still had a bit of a support base in Fitzroy, where I spent most of my time. Called Brisbane but did an MK Dons from the Melbourne area about 10 years previous, IIRC. Aussies don't seem to take that sort of thing as personal as we do, though.

Would love to visit Australia and see an AFL game!
...and five test matches as well!
-
Like Brisbane due to their colours, the fact they're called the Lions and that they used to be the Bears.
Think the big teams were the Essendon Bombers, Collingwood, Hawthorn Hawks, Carlton and recently the Sydney Swans.

Fitzroy Lions went bankrupt and merged with the Brisbane Bears. The AFL strong armed the existing Brisbane Lions soccer club into handing over their name. The AFL can be pretty shady when it perceives a threat to its dominance.

The Crows are shit hot and Eddie Betts likes nothing more than scoring against Richmond. Gonna be tough.

I am somewhat tired and emotional.
-
Congratulations, an amazing performance by Richmond. 100,021 in attendance too.
-
Not a huge AFL fan,but watch the odd game.
Checked on how my team the Brisbane Lions ate doing and surprisingly we are in the Grand Final against Collingwood.
Go Lions!
-
Lost a close one by the sounds of it
-
Behind for most of the match, but only one score in it.
-
Over a week on and still all I can find to say is ‘Brisbane, you had one job…’
-
Can’t believe there’s a footy thread here! Footy as in what us Melburnians usually refer to as footy.
Screw your Brisbane! Now we have 12 months of “the filth” that being Collingwood, Australia’s fanbase equivalent of the Bluenoses yapping at every given opportunity and level on 16 premierships with my Essendon and those Carlton scumbags.
-
Don't pay much attention, but Brisbane seem to be winning most of their games easily, going by Twatter.
-
Sydney are making the running this year but have a slight glass jaw. Annoyingly Carlton and Essendon are in the top four. Sadly Richmond are bottom of the pile - hopefully they'll use that to their advantage in the draft for next season.
-
Blood stained angels for mine today. Bit of hype surrounding Brisbane who are very hard to write off, have been on a great run and had great form lines in the back half of the season but Neale will have to push through heel soreness, Payne carrying something, Hipwood hasn’t done a heap although they’ll find goals elsewhere. I just think the Swans have a bit too much class all over the park and get up by about 4 goals.
-
Technically a Brisbane Lions fan, due to the colours and them being Lions (and formerly Bears).
Lost in Grand Final last year, so hoping for one better today.
-
It's already done. Lions win.
-
Well done Brizzy!
I only watch highlights now and again tbh.
Came to really dislike Hawthorn. Mainly as their players looked so scummy.
-
I don't watch at all but I must have searched for it recently because Google told me the final was on this morning

I'd like to claim insight here but it's more a case of a stopped clock being right twice a day.
